Late September Monday Night

Senior Year

Gabriel and Sam were sitting at Sam's kitchen table, studying for their AP Anatomy test on Wednesday. Gabriel sighed.

"Saaaam, this is boring." Gabriel rested his head on his book. Sam smiled.

"You realize that if we want to go to the same school…"

"Yeah, yeah, yeah. You don't need to remind me how smart you are. Can I at least have a cookie or something?"

"If you can get through the rest of the chapter without complaining, I will get you a cookie."

"Can't we study anatomy another way?" Gabriel lifted his head, and waggled his eyebrows

"No, because Dean and Cas will be home any minute. Now we need to study." Gabriel sighed.

"You're no fun."

"I know." Sam looked back down at his textbook. He was reading about the bones in the hand when he felt lips on his neck.

"Sam." Gabriel whispered. Sam closed his eyes as Gabriel continued.

"Gabe, quit it."

"Why though?" As if on cue, the front door opened. Gabriel jumped back and almost tipped over in his chair. Sam sneered and turned to look at Gabriel.

"You okay?"

"Fine." Gabriel hissed back.

"Hello, Gabriel, Sam."

"Hey, Dean. Hey, Cas."

"What are you two doing?" Dean asked as he followed Castiel into the kitchen.

"Studying anatomy." Sam answered.

"Doing what?" Dean glanced down at the textbook in front of his younger brother. "Oh, you are actually studying anatomy." Dean shook his head, almost like he was disappointed. "Gabe, staying for dinner?"

"If I can."

"Of course you can. I think we're going to just have leftovers though. Nothing fancy."

"That's fine, thank you."

"No problem. Are you two hungry now?"

"Well, Gabe wanted a cookie." It was Gabriel's turn for the bitch face.

"Well, you know where everything is around here. Go ahead, Gabriel."

"No, I'm fine actually. Thanks."

"I'm going to grab the mail." Castiel announced as he walked back out the front door.

"I'm going to take a shower. Behave you two." Dean winked as he ran upstairs and then Castiel walked back in the front door.

"Sam?" Both of Castiel's hands were full of mail.

"Yeah?"

"College stuff. Have you gotten an application for Stanford yet?"

"Um…" Sam glanced over at Gabriel. "Yeah, I did. I've been working on the essay."

"What are you writing it about?" Gabriel and Castiel asked as Castiel sat down at the table and handed Sam the pile in his left hand.

"Um…well, I'm not really sure yet. I mean, I've still got time before the early admissions cut off." Sam really was worried. He wasn't sure what he was going to write, or if it would be good enough.

"Well, whatever you write will be great." Gabriel smiled and placed his hand on top of Sam's. Sam smiled, but it didn't quite reach his eyes. How could he go off to California and leave Gabriel behind? It was one thing that Kevin and Channing were planning to go to some Ivy League schools all the way across the country. Jessica was looking at schools all over, Stanford was even one of them, and having at least Jessica there with him would be something, but Gabriel? Gabriel didn't want to even go to college. Maybe Sam would apply to Kansas or Kansas State, just to stay close.

"Have you thought about where you want to go, Gabe?" Castiel questioned, putting the rest of the mail to the side.

"Um…kinda. Stanford sounds like a nice place."

"It's not! UCLA is better!" Dean said as he entered the room, his hair still wet. Sam and Castiel rolled their eyes.

"Well, Kansas isn't bad if you don't mind staying close to home." Castiel plugged his old school.

"I mean, I wouldn't mind being close to home, I just…" Gabriel glanced over at Sam, hoping it would go unnoticed, which of course it didn't.

"Well, I think you two…"

"Have time to talk about this when Dean and I aren't around. Who wants what leftovers?" Dean huffed as Castiel stood up and walked over to the fridge. The four ate dinner and then Gabriel dismissed himself, claiming to not feel very well, not that that was too far from the truth.

The idea of even having the long distance relationship conversation with Sam made Gabriel want to puke. He knew they would have to have it though (because, let's face it, what school would deny Sam?). Gabriel was probably going to end up playing basketball at some community college, get his two year degree and be done with it (A/N: Not that there's anything wrong with that! Just in this case because…well…yeah! Anyway!). Gabriel really wasn't sure what he wanted to do with his life. He was nothing like Sam. Sam had a plan. Sam wanted to make the world a better place. Not to mention the people in California would adore Sam. Sam would probably find somebody better for him in one of his law classes. Somebody smart, kind, caring and loving like Sam was. Sam's perfect match was probably waiting for him in California. That idea made Gabriel feel even worse.

Gabriel parked his car in his driveway and then walked into his house.

"Ate at Sam's!" He called towards the living room where he assumed his parents were, then went up to his room to try and not think about his boyfriend moving halfway across the country.

A guy that was almost as tall as Sam, with shaggy blonde hair and blue eyes was making Sam laugh. They're studying alone one night, he makes a move. Sam tries to push the guy away and say that he has a boyfriend back in Kansas waiting for him, but the other guy cuts Sam off with a kiss and this time, Sam doesn't didn't pull away. A call from Gabriel gets ignored. Their hands start exploring each other…

Gabriel sat up in a cold sweat. He shook his head to try and get the image from his nightmare out of his head. Sam would never do that. Sam was never one to cheat or even say a bad word against Gabriel. Gabriel knew that. He knew that he and Sam could last even if they ended up at different colleges. He knew that he was right. Right?

"Come on, babe. Something is obviously wrong; you've been upset all day." Sam requested in their eighth hour anatomy class the next day.

"Nothing is wrong, okay? I just, didn't get a lot of sleep last night. Plus, basketball try-outs are this week and if I want to make captain I have to work my ass off. Plus, we've got this test tomorrow." Plus, Gabriel still saw that blue eyed random guy kissing Sam whenever he closed his eyes.

"Gabe, I'll help you study for this tonight after try-outs if you want."

"No, it's fine. I've got to help with freshmen try-outs at 4 and then varsity try-outs aren't over until 8 or 9, then I'll have to come home, take a shower, I probably won't start studying until almost 10. It's fine. I'll be okay." Sam sighed in frustration. He hated how stubborn Gabriel was sometimes.

"Fine, if you say so. Just know that I'll be here to help if you need it." Sam went back to filling out his study guide. Gabriel watched him and could tell he was irritated.

"Sam," Gabriel started just before the bell rang. Sam stood up and gathered his things.

"Good luck at try-outs. Let me know how they go."

"Sam, stop for a second." Gabriel put his hand on Sam's arm. Sam stopped.

"What? You obviously don't want to talk about whatever is worrying you so I won't bother you."

"I…can we study in the library before I have to go to try-outs?" Sam's eyes softened, but he didn't smile.

"Yeah, sure. Do you need to change first?"

"Yeah, I'll meet you there." Gabriel gave Sam a kiss on the cheek (which Sam took as a somewhat good sign) and then walked out of the classroom. Sam walked right to the library, sat down at a table and waited. He was hoping he could get to the bottom of whatever was bothering his boyfriend. Gabriel had been acting distant all day and Sam didn't know why. Actually, it had started last night.

Gabriel came into the library in a cutoff t-shirt, mesh shorts, and sneakers. He walked over and sat beside Sam.

"So, are you going to tell me what's been bothering you or…"

"I had this dream last night."

"Um…okay, I'll bite. What happened?"

"You went to Stanford and found somebody better looking, better for you, smarter and you two were making out and…"

"Are you serious? That's why you've been acting distant all day? A crazy dream that you had?"

"Well damn, sorry I disturbed you with my 'crazy dream'." Gabriel glared at Sam. Who the hell said that Sam had a right to make fun of him like that?

"Do you really think that I'm going to find somebody better?"

"Of course I do! California has much hotter guys and they'll be smarter and more…"

"Gabriel Richard Principatum, you are crazy if you think that I'm going to find a hotter guy than you. Plus, of all the things that we've been through you think that some distance is going to break us apart?"

"If you find this guy that I dreamed about you would." Gabriel murmured.

"I think that I should be more pissed off that you're dreaming of other guys." Sam tried to lighten the mood.

"Shut up, Sam. I'm serious. I think that…maybe we should…"

"No, Gabe we're not breaking up because you think that I'm going to find somebody better because I'm not."

"Sam, be realistic."

"I am!" Sam exclaimed, getting looks from other students and the librarian.

"Okay, okay." Gabriel sighed.

"Are you looking for a reason to break up with me? I mean, if you want to break up then fine, let's break up but don't blame it on this 'I might be moving halfway across the country' bullshit."

"No! Are you kidding me? Of course I don't want to break up with you."

"Good, now this anatomy test…" Sam redirected their attention to the test before Gabriel had to leave for try-outs. Just before 4, Sam and Gabriel packed their things and left the library.

"So, are we okay?" Gabriel asked just outside the gymnasium.

"Do you promise to stop dreaming of sexy California surfers?"

"Do you promise to not leave me for a sexy California surfer?"

"Well, I can't promise that." Sam smiled.

"Well, what a terrible boyfriend you are."

"Then why don't you break up with me?"

"Because you're hot." Gabriel strained up and gave Sam a kiss before disappearing into the gym.

Sam knew that Gabriel was worried, but there was no reason for him to be. Even if Sam ended up in California and Gabriel decided to stay in Kansas, surfer guys weren't really Sam's style. Not to mention the fact that he was head over heels in love with Gabriel. Gabriel made Sam's life easier. If there was something stressing Sam out he knew that Gabriel could make it fun and make Sam forget all about it. Sam needed to show Gabriel just how special he was to him.

Friday Night

"What are we doing?"

"Celebrating your birthday and you being made captain. It's a surprise."

"Are we going back to your house?"

"Maybe."

"Maybe? Are you kidnapping me?"

"Shut up, we're almost there." Sam pulled onto his street.

"We are going to your house."

"You are literally no fun to surprise. You know that?" Sam pulled into his driveway and parked the car.

"So, your house? Really? This isn't much of a surprise."

"Well, what's inside is."

"Is it Dean and Cas? Because that's super weird."

"Will you shut the hell up and get inside?" Sam was starting to regret this idea.

"Sammy, I get all tingly when you take control like that." Sam rolled his eyes and then got out of the car. Gabriel followed and Sam stopped at the porch.

"Okay, I want you to go in first." Sam opened the door and Gabriel walked in, Sam close behind him. Gabriel was immediately overcome with the smell of pork chops and potatoes.

"Mmm…that smells amazing."

"I know, I cooked everything." Sam smiled and led Gabriel to the dining room where their table was set for them. Their food was resting in the middle of the table. Pork chops, steamed vegetables and baked potatoes. There were candles and the only lights were coming from the kitchen. Sam thought about doing roses, but thought that might be a little much.

"You can cook?" Gabriel looked at Sam with awe on his face.

"Yeah, actually Dean has been teaching me, and I wanted to surprise you."

"Sammy, I…this is incredible. Thank you." Sam smiled.

"Happy birthday, babe." Sam pulled a chair out for Gabriel to sit at. Gabriel sat down and Sam took a seat for himself right next to Gabriel.

"Wow, you actually did all of this, just for me?"

"Of course I did. It's your birthday and I wanted to do something special for you."

"Can I just stare at it? It looks so great."

"Well no, because Cas and Dean only gave us three hours alone."

"Only three hours?"

"Yeah, I tried to get us more, but they said no."

"Then I better hurry up."

"Why's that?" Gabriel smiled, leaned close to Sam and growled in his ear.

"I want to spend most of our three hours in the bed room." Gabriel gently nibbled Sam's earlobe and Sam bit his bottom lip to keep from groaning.

"Mmm…don't you want to eat?"

"No, it'll be fine heated up right?" Gabriel continued kissing down and around Sam's neck.

"How long do you think we're going to be upstairs? I just took this out of the oven."

"Oh you're funny." Gabriel continued.

"Mmm…G…Gabe? This amazing dinner I made f…f…" Sam closed his eyes and groaned.

"Thaaaat's it. Come on." Gabriel stood up and pulled Sam with him. Then Sam smiled at his boyfriend.

"Alright, birthday boy, let's go." Sam grabbed Gabriel by the shirt and led him up the stairs, into his bedroom.

Sam closed the door, then pulled Gabriel close and gave him a long, adoring kiss. Gabriel gently licked Sam's lips and Sam opened his mouth to let Gabriel's tongue inside. Sam and Gabriel's tongues explored each other's mouths as Sam slid his hands down to Gabriel's belt loops and pulled him closer. Sam gently bit Gabriel's lip before kissing down his neck and pushing him onto the bed.

"Mmm…" Gabriel hummed as he closed his eyes and Sam straddled his hips to continue down along his collarbone. Sam gently started unbuttoning Gabriel's shirt and placing a kiss on each new piece of exposed skin. Sam could feel Gabriel's hard-on growing through his jeans and kissed his way back up Gabriel's chest and to his ear.

"Now, since it's your birthday you'll get a special offer. I'll take care of that little friend in your jeans aaaaanyway you want." Gabriel chuckled.

"Anyway I want huh?"

"Yup, whatever you want. So, Mr. Principatum," Sam looked into Gabriel's honey colored eyes. "What can I do for you?"

"This." Gabriel grabbed Sam's shirt and crushed their lips together. Sam kissed him back; they broke apart so Gabriel could slither Sam's shirt off, then their lips found each other again. Gabriel rolled over on top of Sam and slipped Sam's pants off. Sam did the same to Gabriel. Their erections were separated by the thin cotton of their boxers. Gabriel ripped Sam's boxers off, not willing to wait anymore. Sam tore Gabriel's off and Gabriel was about ready to explode. Gabriel thrust into Sam and Sam moaned. He grabbed the sheets and groaned louder as Gabriel continued. Finally, Sam came and Gabriel did shortly after, both of them moaning and groaning. Gabriel laid next to Sam, both of them breathing heavy.

"Your birthday…and you wanted to do all the work?" Sam smiled over at Gabriel. Gabriel smiled back.

"As long as it's with you, it doesn't matter to me." Sam wrapped his arms around Gabriel, pulled him close, and then kissed his forehead.

"That dinner that I made for you is downstairs is getting cold. Plus, Dean and Cas will be home in…" Sam looked over at his alarm clock. "About two hours."

"Do we need to put clothes back on?" Gabriel snuggled into Sam's chest.

"Yeah, probably. How awkward would that be if they came home and we were naked? I think that Dean would honestly kill you."

"Well, that could be problematic." Gabriel sighed and sat up. He looked around. "Babe, we really messed your bed."

"Dean and Cas don't come in here so they won't know. Come on, get dressed because I have another surprise for you."

"You do?"

"Yes, but you have to eat your dinner first. And put some clothes on." The two stood up and put their clothes back on.

"Okay, let's go." Gabriel grabbed Sam's hand and led him downstairs.

"You'll have to lower your expectations a little bit. It won't be as good since you were a jerk and thought sex was more important than food."

"Well, it's true." Gabriel smiled and sat down as Sam took the meal into the kitchen to heat it up. A few minutes later, the two were finally eating their dinner.

"Sam, there's no way that this could be better." Gabriel wasn't lying either. Those were the best pork chops he had ever had.

"They would've tasted better fresh." Sam shrugged.

"Next time we can eat before sex, promise." Gabriel replied through a mouth full of food. Sam laughed.

"Chew your food." Once their entrée was finished, Sam stood up.

"Your last surprise." Sam went back into the kitchen and came out with a chocolate cake.

"You didn't make that for me, too did you?" Gabriel couldn't believe that he was lucky enough to get Sam.

"Actually, Charlie made it. I asked her and she was more than willing to." Sam answered as he set the cake down. It had "Congrats&Happy B-Day!" squished in red frosting on top of the chocolate cake.

"Oh, so you can't do everything."

"What do you mean?" Sam asked as he cut the cake into pieces for him and Gabriel. Gabriel took his slice before continuing.

"Well, you're too smart for your own good, you're sexy as hell, you're funny, you're an amazing cook, but you can't bake."

"Well, no, sorry your boyfriend isn't as perfect as you would like."

"My boyfriend is beyond perfect." Sam blushed.

"Shut up and eat your cake."

"Yes, sir." Gabriel took a bite of his cake, closed his eyes and moaned. "I think Charlie is my new favorite person on the face of the planet."

"Gee, thanks." Once Gabriel ate three pieces of cake, Sam only had one, they only had half an hour before Dean and Cas came home.

"So, can we talk about something?" Sam asked.

"Uh oh…um…yeah? I guess?" Sam took both of Gabriel's hands in his own and stared at them. Gabriel started to get worried. Sam never did this.

"Gabe, I know you don't want to go to college, and I know I won't hear from Stanford for a couple more months, but I was thinking, what if you found a community college in California to go to? Or Stanford has a great culinary program. They would be more than happy to get you."

"Sam," Gabriel sighed. "I don't have the grades for Stanford. Even their culinary program. I probably have to send in a video of me baking or something. I can't do that."

"Yes you do! Your GPA went up so much in the past year and I think they would be impressed with that. Plus, you could maybe get looked at for the basketball team."

"Yeah, but what if I don't get in? What if I get rejected?"

"I could get rejected, too. That's why I'm applying to Kansas and Kansas State."

"Sam,"

"Will you at least think about it?" Sam drew gentle circles on Gabriel's hand. "I can't imagine living that far away from you." Gabriel brought Sam's hands to his lips and softly placed a kiss across Sam's knuckles.

"I can't imagine that either." Gabriel looked at Sam and smiled. Sam, a tad reluctantly, smiled back. "I'll think about it, but I'm not promising anything, okay? Just, don't go thinking that I'll make it in."

"Fine, thank you." Sam leaned over and gave Gabriel a kiss on the lips. Gabriel tried to deepen the kiss, but then the front doorknob rattled and Dean and Cas walked in. Dean turned the lights on walking through the house.

"Dean that was not three hours."
