Hey guys! I know it's late, but it's still Sunday, right? Anyways, this is chapter 1, rewritten. Warning, this chapter contains a brief mention of rape! Happy reading!

I am dreaming. This will be a very important dream, I can tell. I can always tell when dreams are going to be important. I know that it is strange, but I can always tell what kind of dreams I am having, and I can normally control them as well, but sometimes I can not control them when they are very important, and I need to know what is in them. It is almost like they listen to me, and they talk to me. It is not only mine that do that though. I know about other people's dreams too. I can tell when they are going to have a good dream, or a bad dream. I know what they dreamed about last night, or the night before, or even the night two years ago when my neighbour dreamed about a strange house on 001 Cemetery Lane. I can also control them, you know. I can make you dream about your worst fear, or your heart's desire. I can make you have a funny dream, a sad dream, or a scary dream. I do not know why I can do this, or how. I just know that I can do it, and that it helps me a lot. My life with them would be a lot worse if I did not have the ability to do these things. I mean, a beating every day or so is not too bad, right? At least it is not rape! They did try once, but I ended up stopping them, so it is not that bad, right?

Okay, maybe it is bad, but it could be worse, a lot worse. I was not left on the street as a baby, though I think I may have heard them talking about doing just that soon... oh well. I will worry about that if it happens.

"Harry." A voice, seemingly from nowhere, interrupted my thoughts. I did get a little caught up in them, I suppose. I looked around, seeing a gorgeous forest surrounding the small clearing I was in. There was a river splitting the clearing halfway through. I walked up to it, seeing that it was quite wide and deep, but so clear and smooth that I could see right down to the bottom, where there were beautiful river stones. The voice had come from the other side of this river, I was sure. Sure enough, as I looked up, I saw a man standing up on the other side of the river. He had wild silver hair, along with silvery eyes that glowed and shone slightly in the light. He was thin, with skin just tanned enough so it was not white, nor very pale, but still slightly more pale than average. He was wearing nice clothing, slightly rumpled, and not very expensive looking. I got the feeling of powerful magic, along with ancient knowledge from him.

"How do you know my name?" I asked the man, followed by, "Why are you in my dream? Who are you?" I demanded, almost sounding horribly rude. I could not help it though. Who was this man, and what business did he have in my dream?!

"Peace, child. I am a friend. I will help you learn things that are very important for you to know. I can help you find peace with your inner demons, and help you get away from those who would do you harm. I am in your dream because it is the only way I could contact you. You will find out who I am in due time." Said the man. I was tempted to not believe him, but as we are in a dream of mine, I could tell that he was telling nought but the truth.

"How will I find you?" I asked, knowing that I would have to find him soon enough. The man smiled in a mysterious way that served to make me all the more curious, which I believe was his goal.

"You will know what you have to do when the time comes for you to find me. Trust me on this, though, You will find me soon, sooner than you think. I am just the first of many you will find, and grow to trust, to care for, and even to love. You are special, young Dreamer. To all of us." He said. With a gesture to the side and behind him, he stepped back, revealing who he meant by 'us'. There were figures standing there, all in a row, all of them shadowed, none of them visible, 12 of them. I looked at the man, doubt obvious on my face, along with sadness. How could that many people grow to care for me, and I for them? I had nobody to depend on now, no one who cared for me. If I was that important, why had there been no people here before, no one looking for me? I just could not believe what he was saying was true, but I could feel that it was.

"You are telling the truth," I said. "How can you be telling the truth? You say that that many people care for me, yet none of them have come for me before now, why?" I asked, desperate for an answer. The man sighed sadly.

"None have come for you before now, because we did not know where you were. A man who pretends to have your best interests at heart left you there, and put spells on you so that none could find you. I am sorry young Dreamer, so very sorry that I could not find you before now. You will find us soon, young Dreamer. You must learn from me if you wish to-" His voice cut of as the dream started fading. Why did the dream have to fade now?! If I wish to what?!

"Boy! Wake up! We're going to London today, to do some shopping, and you're coming with us so you don't get up to any funny business while we're gone. You understand?!" Yelled my uncle through the cupboard door. I sighed, resigned to another day like this.

"Yes uncle Vernon." I replied. I got up, put some fresh clothing on and walked out the cupboard door. My uncle gestured my impatiently through the door to the front of the house, so I walked through before they followed me. They shoved by me, hitting some of the bruises and welts from last night, making me bite back a hiss of pain.

I slipped reluctantly in to the back seat of the car, squished uncomfortably in to the door by my cousin, who I was sure was wider than he was tall. We drove to town in an awkward and uncomfortable silence, broken only by the rumble of the engine and the sound of cars driving by. Finally, we got to London and did the shopping we needed, before starting back to Surrey. On the way back, my uncle suddenly stopped in one of the rougher neighbourhoods in London. He got out of the car, opened my door and threw me out, right in to the brick wall of the building.

"You've had this coming for a long, long time, freak." He spat out hatefully, as I stared at him shocked yet furious from my place on the ground.

"Hope you have a great time!" He said with a vicious smirk, before driving off. I looked around me, only to see rubbish bins, filth, rats and other such things surrounding me. 'Yeah.' I thought with a sigh. 'I will have and absolutely wonderful time.' I thought, before wondering off to find a place to spend the night.
