Brothers at Odds

This story has been requested by I'm thinking and the prompt was Jason and Robbie have a fight in the college

"Oi Robbie!" Holly cried as the older boy brushed past her, taking her phone as he did so. "Give that back."

"Why, texting lover boy?" He asked laughing, as he scrolled through the messages with disinterest. "Just seeing if there's any more poetry is all, it made me feel so warm and fuzzy last time."

Holly glared at Robbie as she tried to grab back her phone though he held it just out of her reach each and every single time. Her cheeks were red hot as she tried to think of what Robbie might find on her phone, though she just hoped it wouldn't be anything too embarrassing, after all there was no way that the older boy would let it drop.

She groaned to herself as she saw Jason entering the year area, instantly clocking the scene between Holly and Robbie. Her boyfriend was never one to leave her without any support, especially when it was Robbie giving her the grief, something that was happening with a lot more regularity.

The blonde didn't let it get her down though, Robbie's pranks on her were never mean or malicious, and she was pretty sure it was his way of showing that he had accepted and liked her.

Jason always stood up for her though, never too embarrassed to show her just how much he cared for her, something which none of her previous boyfriend's had been willing to do, everything he did made her heart flutter and she had never been happier.

This time was sure to be no different, and Holly just prayed that it wouldn't get too messy between the two brothers.

"Give Hol her phone back," Jason said, rolling his eyes as he had to repeat the command once more when Robbie paid him no attention.

"What scared I'll find something embarrassing on there mate? Or maybe you're just nervous in case there's someone else, Cindy's certainly been pushing a load of different lads on your girlfriend recently, maybe one of them caught her fancy."

"Robbie shut it," Holly hissed, knowing that the older boy had gone too far with his teasing, something that was proven a second later when Jason pushed his brother against the lockers, face flushed a furious red as he tried to keep a hold of his temper, though it was an uphill battle.

Jason couldn't deny he hadn't been feeling any sort of strain or stress since the fire the other week, not only were both Sandy and Cindy forbidding him from seeing Holly (which was more than unfair in his opinion, seeing as Cindy had been trying to set him up with Holly only a few months ago), but he had been the butt of a number of jokes since the fire, courtesy of Robbie being true to his word and spreading around the fact that he had been saved by a girl through the whole school.

Jason already knew he wasn't good enough for Holly, so the last thing he really wanted was to have that pointed out a countless number of times by his peers. The jokes, the teasing would have never happened if Robbie had just kept his mouth shut, but the other lad was never one to let people have an easy life, least of all his brother.

But it was all getting on his last nerve, and the final taunt from Robbie was one too many, leaving Jason to his current predicament, though he no longer cared about causing a scene, not as long as it stopped the callous remarks that hit him deep.

"Woah easy there Jase," Robbie said, and despite the smirk on his face, it wasn't hard to see just how much the act of violence from his normally calmer brother had shaken him. "You could have hurt someone there."

"Give Hol her phone back, or I may just do that," he threatened, barely registering the whispers from the surrounding students, nor Holly trying to lead him away and calm him down, no, he was just focused on Robbie, and would be till the apology left his lips.

"All right, jeez mate," Robbie said, trying to hide his shaken form under the bravado, though he passed Holly's bright pink phone to her without any more complaint, and couldn't help but breath a small sigh of relief when Jason took a step back, though it didn't stop him from turning to Finn with a twisted smile.

"Didn't know he'd have it in him, actually thought it would have been Holly doing all the talking, what with Jason's track record." Jason knew he was meant to hear the cruel words that left Robbie's mouth, they were said loud enough for not only him to hear and grow even more frustrated, but also for all if his classmates, so they all saw him as an even bigger loser.

Holly heard what Robbie said too, though unlike the surrounding crowd she saw the way Jason's shoulders tensed, and the way his hand formed to make a tight fist.

"Just ignore him babes," she said softly, though Jason didn't grow calmer at her words like she had hoped. Instead he turned back to face Robbie, glaring at him heavily before lifting his clenched fist and bringing it down harshly, successfully making contact with Robbie's jaw, the other boy almost going flying at the sudden action.

Robbie quickly caught his footing, holding his hand out on the lockers to steady himself. He saw red at the sudden act of violence and retaliated with one of his own. In no time at all, a full out fist fight had begun between the twins, the cheers and cries from the surrounding spectators egging them on further.

"What the hell is going on here!" Patrick Blake demanded to know, his shout enough to stop everyone where they stood, including the previously brawling twins."You two, my office now!"

"Your mother should be here shortly, I've just been informed that she's signed in to the school and is on her way up," Patrick informed the two brothers, his tone cold as he surveyed the scene in front of him.

The pair were both a mess, dried blood under Robbie's nose, and magnificent bruises marring both of their faces. "So are you going to tell me how this started?" Before either boy could answer, Sandy had stormed into the office, eyes flashing furiously as she saw the damage that her boys had caused to each other.

"What the hell were you playing at?" She demanded to know, her frown growing when neither Jason or Robbie spoke up, though they both flinched away from her furious tone.

"I had just asked the same question, though they don't seem to be playing ball Mrs Roscoe."

"So you're doing the silent game, I thought you too were better than that," Sandy snapped, her anger growing when still neither boy did anything but share a nervous glance with each other. They may still be angry at one another, not totally forgiving the other for the fight, but they had an unspoken rule, that no matter what, they wouldn't grass the other in and get them into trouble, and they were still going to stick to it, consequences be damned.

"Well if they're determined to test my patience by not telling me what really happened, then I'll just have to go by what I've been told by the other students," Patrick said, looking down at the hand written accounts from some of the witnesses as he did so.

"And what did they tell you?"

"Well it's all pretty much the same thing, that Jason was the one to start the fight after Miss Cunningham's phone was taken, and Robbie merely retaliated. Does that sound right boys?"

Again Patrick's question was only met with silence and he sighed, trying to reign in his annoyance at the two teens who were sat in front of him.

"Well assuming we're going by those accounts, you'll just have to be punished accordingly. Robert you will have a week's worth of lunchtime detention and two after school ones. Jason, due to this being the second severe incident regarding Holly's phone in less than a month, I see no other option but a week long suspension with immediate effect, and for the incident to be placed on your permanent record."

As Patrick's words left his mouth, the three Roscoe's snapped their heads up to meet his eye, shocked by the pure severity of the punishment.

"Oh please Mr Blake, you know Jason's a good kid, he doesn't deserve to be suspended for one little thing," Sandy pleaded with the older man, hoping he would be feeling forgiving.

"Do I know that? Like I said, this is the second time Jason has been in my office because of Holly's phone, and I think we all know that I was incredibly lenient last time, after all, he did break into my flat to retrieve it."

"He was still arrested for it!" Sandy exclaimed, eyes wide.

"My fiancée's actions had nothing to do with me, I couldn't stop her from reporting the crime that Jason committed. I'm sorry Mrs Roscoe, but I see no other alternative but a suspension, in fact, I'm being rather lenient with that." Sandy didn't say anything in response, though it was taking all her self-restraint not to do so, instead she stood up from her seat and went to move to the door.

"Come on boys, lets go."

"Wait," Robbie said, his voice breaking through the silence as he had a war of wills.

Before he had been happy to let Jason to take the punishment, thinking it wouldn't be anything more extreme than his, but then Patrick revealed what it really was, and Robbie realised he'd have to speak up, admit he was the one in the wrong, after all, he was and a week long suspension was nothing to him, but for Jason, well he'd take it badly, his looming court trial was already stressing him out enough as it was.

"It weren't Jason that started the fight, it was me. I stole Holly's phone and wouldn't give it back to her, Jase was just trying to do the right thing."

"That may be so Robert, but he still used physical violence when it was unnecessary, I can't just let that slide."

"But so did I, and I goaded and teased him about it all, even a saint would have snapped after all I said." Robbie protested, determined to not let Jason be the one to suffer. Patrick pursed his lips at the new information, mentally altering the two boys punishments before speaking up.

"Very well, with regards to these new details coming to light, Robbie you'll have two weeks of lunchtime detentions and Jason will be the same. Now is that all?" The three Roscoes nodded, and left the office silently, not saying anything till they were well out of hearing shot, with the door firmly shut behind them.

"I swear you two are going to turn me grey," Sandy said sternly, unsuccessfully hiding just how relieved she was about Jason's punishment being cut down. "Fighting in school, what were you thinking?"

"Sorry mum," the twins chorused, knowing that it was just best to let their mum rant on till she ran out of steam.

"I've got to get back to work, but don't you dare think about going out tonight, you're both grounded!" Sandy said, turning heel, unable to hide the smirk that had crossed her features at Robbie and Jason's twin groans.

"I should be getting back to class," Robbie said after a few moments of awkward silence, with neither him or Jason knowing just what to say after recent events. "Blake will probably have my head if I skive today after everything."

Jason said nothing as he watched Robbie walk away, head still spinning after what had just happened in Patrick's office, though he found he couldn't keep his curiosity in check and was soon running after his brother.

"Why did you do it?" he asked once he'd caught up, quickly falling back in step with Robbie. "You didn't have to say anything, it would have got you out of a lot of trouble too."

Robbie shrugged at Jason's question, obviously trying to formulate the words before he opened his mouth, after all, what he had said earlier had been the catalyst to all the damage caused, and he really didn't want another fight starting up again because he mucked something up.

"You didn't deserve to get suspended though, not when I did it. You might think I'm one of the biggest pillocks to walk this earth, but I do look out for you J, I do have a heart ever so occasionally."

"You're going soft," Jason joked, smiling slightly as Robbie snorted in amusement. "Don't worry, I won't tell anyone, Don't want to ruin your reputation."

"Too right you won't, or I'll tell everyone about how you slept with a teddy till you were twelve." "Robbie!"

"Yeah yeah, calm down mate," Robbie joked, making sure to let Jason knew he wasn't serious in his teasing. "Though we better get to class, or Blake will really suspend us."

"Probably better than double chemistry," Jason groaned, though he was already on his way to class, Robbie close behind. The two brothers were just glad they'd managed to sort out their differences, both hoping it wouldn't cause any more troubles in the near future.

I hope you all enjoyed that, it wasn't nearly as devastating as a lot of my previous chapters have been, so it was a nice change I hope!

Guest – Don't worry I haven't forgotten about your chapter, (Robbie getting a girl pregnant), in fact I listed it in chapter 41 and it should be posted for chapter 89. I understand if you missed it when looking, unfortunately, half the information seems to have been cut away when I published it, though I did also publish the username you used

Guest – Prompt regarding Jason heart transplant – Ooh that sounds really interesting! Should be posted for chapter 136
