Truth or Dare

This chapter has been requested by Tasha and her prompt was; Drunken antics can lead to the funniest of games, this time is no different when the Roscoe boys find themselves playing a game of Truth or Dare after one too many beers.

"Well this is looking to be a fun night," Robbie drawled from where he was lounging on the sofa, pulling the tab on another beer open. All five brothers had found themselves in the house, on a rare quiet night in, whilst Sandy and Lindsey were both out, the young doctor trying to comfort her future mother in law after the whole débâcle with Fraser, by getting her incredibly drunk.

So shortly after the sun began setting, Joe came to the realisation that the rest of his brothers would be also spending the night in, and ran over to Price Slice to get a few packs of beer in. It had been a long time since they had last sat down as brothers, just hanging out with no worries plaguing them, and after the last few months of suffering, it was something the whole family needed.

But even after they all had a couple of beers in them, none of the brothers knew where to start, they didn't want to darken the tone of the night, but at the same time, all that their heads were filled with were a lot questions from what had happened recently.

An awkward silence filled the air, and no-one knew what to say to break it, until Ziggy grabbed his phone from his pocket, flicking through the numerous amount of apps he had purchased over the years. "We could always play something like Truth or Dare? The ones on this app are all right."

"Oh it just gets better and better," Robbie muttered, though no-one paid the teen any attention, instead mulling over what Ziggy had just said.

"Yeah we might as well," Jason shrugged, as Ziggy began setting the game up, typing everyone's names into his phone. "It could be a right laugh."

It only took a few seconds for Ziggy to have finished what he needed to, before he pressed the random select button on his phone, smirking devilishly when he saw Robbie's name pop up, glad that he could now give the moody teen a taste of his own medicine.

"Robbie! Truth or dare?"

"Truth," Robbie replied instantly, ignoring the others telling him to live a little and to choose the dare. "I don't trust any of yous to not pick something horrid."

"Alright then," Ziggy smirked, pressing the truth button and scanning over the question. "Okay, so who is your favourite person in this room?"

"Well it's definitely not you for making us play this stupid game," Robbie snapped, though his tone held no heat. "I don't know, that's not exactly something I can choose, you're all my brothers for God's sake."

"You've got to answer the question mate, that's the game. And hey, if you don't like this option, just remember to go to for the dare next time."

"I don't know, Jase I guess," Robbie shrugged, hitting said brother over the head with a cushion when he wiped away a mock tear, pretending to be too overcome with emotion to handle the revelation. "Only cause you let me copy the English off you today."

"Of course Rob," Jason winked, smiling as the three older Roscoe's all laughed at Robbie's embarrassment. "Don't worry, I won't tell anyone you have a soul, or Phoebe for that matter. She seems to be digging the bad boy thing."

"Can we just move on?" Robbie growled, throwing Ziggy a pointed look.

"All right snarky," Ziggy said, putting one hand up in surrender, pressing the next button on his phone with his finger. "Joe it's your turn, truth or dare?"

"Well seeing as I'm a real man, unlike the squirt over there, I think I'll go for a dare."

"Okay," Ziggy said, laughing out loud when he read the dare, causing Joe's worry to escalate. "Put on some clothes that belong to the most important person to you."

The three other Roscoe's all began laughing too, instantly realising what Joe's dare would entail. "Lindsey got anything in your shade bro?" Robbie asked, his mood instantly lifted by the thought of Joe in one of Lindsey's dresses.

"It's not the colour I'm worried about mate, it's the size. Linds is tiny, I'm never going to get anything that'll fit."

"Well you're going to have to try," Jason chuckled as Joe got to his feet and began to make his way upstairs. "Try and get something that stretches though!"

The wait for Joe to return was surprisingly short, as the family all expected it take him an age to squeeze into some of Lindsey's stuff, but as he made his way down the stairs, the Roscoe's almost broke a rib laughing.

The eldest brother had gone with Jason's advice, and chosen not only one of Lindsey's largest dresses, but also the stretchiest. It was a light floral number, and although it was actually incredibly loose-fitting on Lindsey, the same could not be said for her fiancé, in fact, it was practically bursting at the seams, a few splitting as Joe sat back down on the sofa.

"We all happy now? Good, well I think it's time for this game to carry on."

At Joe's words, Ziggy went back to the game, looking to Jason when he read the latest name.

"I'll go for a dare," the youngest member of the family decided, instantly regretting his decision the second Ziggy read out what he had to do. Because the previous tasks hadn't been anything difficult, in fact, they had been downright silly, but this, this was on a whole other scale.

Long story short, Jason had to break into the school and take something. And normally he would have said no, because there was no way Jason was going to break in to somewhere and take something, not again, but he'd had a bit to drink and was definitely feeling the effects of it now.

It was how he and his four brothers found themselves at the side of Hollyoaks High, under one of the English room windows, Jason gearing himself up to enter said room.

"You sure you okay to do this?" Freddie asked, though the only answer he got was Jason climbing onto the bench that lay beneath the window.

"I think I know how to break a lock and steal a crummy English book."

"Didn't you say that when you nicked Holly's phone from Blake's flat?" Robbie asked innocently, smirking when Jason glared at him. "What? I'm just saying that you ended up with you in front of a judge, and we wouldn't want that to happen again."

Jason decided not to give Robbie an answer, choosing instead to move over so he was right next to the window, breaking the lock of it almost instantly. It didn't take him long to slide in through the window, and even less time for him to get out, book in hand.

"Well done mate," Joe laughed, all of them impressed that Jason had done what he had been dared to. "Come on then lads, lets get out of here."

"One second Freds," Ziggy called, turning back to the app. "It's your turn now, truth or dare?"

"Well after that fine spectacle, I think I can only pick a dare myself."

"Yeah I thought you'd say that," Ziggy said with an arched brow, having already pressed the dare button, in predication of what Freddie would choose. "And well, we're not going home yet lads."

"Why? What is it Zig?"

"Who's the person you hate most in this world?" Ziggy asked instead, causing even more confusion from the rest of his brothers.

"Fraser of course. Why? Does this dare have anything to do with him?" Freddie asked, partly hoping that he was being dared to punch Fraser square in the face.

"You could say that," Ziggy commented, holding the phone up so Freddie could read the dare, to which he laughed when he'd done so.

"What? What is it?" Joe asked, unable to see the phone from where he was stood, along with both the twins, who were now sharing a confused look with one another.

"Freddie's dare is to egg Fraser's house," Ziggy said, smiling when the other three all began laughing too. "So it looks like a trip to Price Slice is on the cards."

And to Price Slice the five Roscoe brothers went, trying to remember where exactly Fraser's house was, as well as hoping that he wouldn't be in, and therefore ready to catch them vandalising his property.

"Look it's a long walk," Jason said eventually, as the family entered the main square of the village. "We may as well do some more truth and dares to pass the time."

"Good point little bro," Ziggy nodded, choosing a dare for himself as he spoke, groaning slightly when he read it. At the questioning looks sent his way, Ziggy began to read out what he was told to do. "I have to tell the next woman I see that I love her and how much she means to me, without telling them it's a dare."

"Well looks like you're in luck, because Cindy's on the till tonight," Robbie laughed, spotting the brunette flicking through a magazine in the otherwise empty shop. "And you'll be well in there, because I'm pretty sure she wanted to sleep with you at some point."

"Yeah she did, until Dirk came into the picture. And I think we've screwed his family over enough times, that he won't hesitate to find and kill me if I go after his bird, because lets be honest, with my charm and good looks, Cindy will be falling all over me."

"Okay Casanova, you go in and get the eggs, and we'll make sure Dirk doesn't see you trying to get with his girlfriend."

"I hate you all you know that," Ziggy said coldly, though he entered the shop without any further complaint, steadily ignoring the others catcalls.

He moved to the back of the shop to grab a large box of eggs, bigging himself up as he went, before turning and going over to the till. Cindy bagged the items and took the money with a quiet thanks, turning back to the magazine article almost instantly.

"You should smile more you know?" Ziggy said, turning his well known charm up to the max. "It makes you look even more beautiful and well, I didn't even know that was possible till I saw it."

"What do you want Ziggy?" Cindy asked, tearing her eyes to meet the younger man's, rolling them when he gave her a smouldering look.

"Don't give me that Cinds, you can't deny our chemistry with one another."

"Can't I?"

"No! It's electric, anyone would say the same thing."

"You know, I really doubt that," Cindy drawled. "And if this is your attempt of trying to get you to sleep with me, please note I have a boyfriend and I gave birth only a few weeks ago. My body is not doing anything under the covers for a while, especially with you."

"I don't want you to sleep with me Cindy, well I wouldn't say no, but that's not why I'm here!" Ziggy said, hating himself for rambling so much, and also his brothers for making him do this stupid dare.

"But I think our connection is deeper than that. Ever since we've met, you've been the only thing on my mind. It's crazy, no other girl has had that effect on me, and I've tried to get rid of these feelings by being with other people, it scared me you see, feelings so intense, but I see now I can't hide it anymore."

"Hide what?"

"The fact that I love you!" Ziggy exclaimed, flushing furiously as Cindy's eyes widened. "And I know you have Dirk, but we're just meant to be together. I love you Cindy, I always have and-"

"There you are! What are you playing at mate?" Freddie called as he ran into the shop, obviously trying to restrain his laughter as he spoke. "I'm so sorry about this Cindy, he just gets like this when he has a bit of drink in him, don't you Zig? Hell, he almost proposed to Sam Lomax last week, though her face was a right picture."

"Right," Cindy said slowly, her confusion growing when she saw Joe stood outside of the shop wearing a flowery dress! "I really don't want to know what you lot are getting up to, just don't get arrested yeah?"

"We won't," Freddie smiled, dragging a still tomato red Ziggy out of the shop as he went. "Hopefully anyway."

"I still hate you all," Ziggy hissed as the five brothers left the village, though the only response he got was laughter.

The walk to Fraser's place didn't take as long as had been first thought, and in no time at all, Freddie was lining up his first shot, yelling out in triumph as he hit the front door, though he quickly quietened with the rest of the family, to make sure that Fraser wasn't at the house.

As luck would have it, the older man did seem to be out, leaving Freddie to complete his dare, and if the others all took a shot before the 12 pack of eggs was used, well who was going to tell?

And as the five brothers made their way back to their own home, all laughing and happier than they had been in months, they knew that it was all going to be okay eventually. Because although the immediate future didn't look overly fantastic, as long as they had each other to help them out and lighten the mood, they'd always be fine.

And if tonight had proven anything, it was that they would have each other to do just that, and in times of despair, when the going gets tough and it doesn't look to get easier, sometimes a little bit of laughter is what you need most, to get you through to the light, when you really have something to smile about.

I hope you enjoyed that. I tried to get everyone to do something before this story got too long, and I hope you liked the challenges I picked out of the ones you suggested Tasha!
