Hey, thanks for coming back. This is dedicated to the guest who requested Jer of Matt's birthday. Bonnie's the next on the list. If you would like to send in request for chapters 17 through 19 I am open to your ideas.
Chapter 15: Happy Birthday, Jeremy
"Get up. Get up." Kol hollered into my ear causing me to jump out of bed.
"Is there a fire?!" I questioned my baby brother in alarm.
"No," Kol jumped off my bed and hurried down the hall. I followed him and I watched as he screamed at Elijah causing him to fall out of his bed.
"Are you alright, Kol? Did something happen?" Elijah asked as Kol rolled his eyes and raced off to wake Finn, who screamed.
Bekah came racing into Lijah's room. "Get dressed," she yelled at us, her hands on her hips.
"What is going on?" Elijah questioned the toddler as he rubbed his eyes.
"It's Jeremy's birthday!" Kol yelled as he came running back into the room. "Get ready. NOW!" Running back down the hall, he continued to yell. "MUM. DAD. HURRY!"
My mother came striding into Elijah's room with a look of annoyance. "Good, you're up. Please take your brother to the Gilbert boy's party before I have to run away and join the circus."
"I'll take care of Kol," Elijah told her and she placed a hand on his cheek.
"Thank you, Lijah." Pressing a quick kiss to his forehead, she hurried away.
Elijah began to get ready as I made my way back to my room. Kol was there pulling out clothes for me to wear. "You are quite slow," he said slowly as he shook his head and ran off.
I jerked my jeans and shirt on. Buttoning the shirt as I shoved my feet into my shoes, I noticed Bekah standing in the doorway. "Nik…" She called.
"Yes, Bekah." I called back as she came over to lean against me.
"I like a boy, Nik." I tried not to laugh. My sister was still a baby. What did she know about liking boys?
"Oh, and who do you like, Bekah?" I asked her.
"Damon," she told me, her eyes shining brightly. I took her face between my hands and kissed her forehead.
"Well, then you shall have him, love. I shall gift wrap him and tuck him beneath your bed for safe keeping until Christmas," I told my sister. Although there was a part of me that worried she would get hurt because there seemed to be something there with Damon and Elena. I did not want my baby sister being caught in the crossfire.
Bekah giggled. "I want a pony, too."
"Then a pony you shall have. And an entire stable for your amusement." I informed her as I picked her up and carried her downstairs.
"And a castle. I'm a princess like Caroline." Bekah told me as Elijah, Finn and Kol joined us. We began to walk down the street gathering friends as we walked by their houses.
Tyler appeared. "Man, am I hungry. My Mom tried to cook this morning…"
Followed by Bonnie. "I can almost float people now," she told us and Kol began to move forward like someone had shoved him.
"Agh," Kol cried out and turned to glare at Bonnie. "That was not funny." Bonnie just grinned in response.
Matt appeared. "Party time. I hope Katherine got the ice cream baseball cake. Jeremy's going to kill her if she didn't."
Andie and Mason came to walk with us. "I'm bored." Andie complained.
"How is that a new thing?" Mason quipped as Andie shoved him lightly and he ran into Alaric.
"What am I, invisible?" Ric asked, shaking his head with a wide grin.
"No. But maybe Bonnie can make you that way." Damon shouted as he and Stefan came running up to us.
When we got to the front porch of the Gilbert's house Lexi opened the door before we could ring the bell. "Come in," she called and we filed inside. Jeremy was standing on the stairs and threw himself on Kol.
"Happy birthday," We yelled at Jeremy as he and Kol disengaged from their hug.
"I got you a baseball bat."Kol told Jeremy.
I rolled my eyes. My little brother had yet to comprehend the idea of not telling people what their presents were until after they had opened them. Katherine came downstairs. She picked her kid brother up, placed him on her shoulders and walked him outside to the backyard.
Kol grabbed his present for Jeremy and his own baseball bat. Then he headed after them. "I dare you to hit a cat with your bat." Kol told Jeremey.
Jeremy thought about the dare after his sister sat him down. Picking up the baseball bat, he smacked his sister across the behind making her yelp. "Owe. Jeremy. I'm going to spank you," she yelled as she chased a screaming Jeremy around a tree.
"It was Kol." Jeremy screamed as he ran away from his older sister.
"I dare you to spank Kat." Damon yelled at Elijah, who blinked at him.
"You would like me to do what to whom?" Elijah asked Damon narrowing his eyes at him.
"Spank Kat. What, Lijah, is getting older making you deaf?" Damon snapped before striding away. "Hey, Bonnie, float Jeremy into the tree," he ordered.
Bonnie bit her lower lip and concentrated. Closing her eyes, she imagined Jeremy in the tree. "Holy cow," Matt exclaimed as Bonnie opened her eyes and smiled. Jeremy was now sitting on a tree limb.
"You can't get me now!" Jeremy yelled at Katherine.
"I'm going to eat you ice cream baseball cake if you don't come down this instant," Katherine warned Jeremy and began to tap her foot. "One, two, three, four…" Jeremy began to scoot down the tree and Katherine grabbed him. She was intent on punishing her little brother when Elijah wrapped an arm around her waist and tapped her lightly on the rear end.
Jeremy sighed and ran as quickly as he could away from his older sister. He hid behind Elena and Damon, who had been conferring about something.
When Katherine and Elijah were done Katherine came after Jeremy to be hit in the face with three glasses of grape Kool-Aid. "I'm going to kill all of you little brats." Katherine yelled, murder in her eyes as Jeremy led the others to the safety of house. I ran after them with Caroline, Tyler, Matt, Bonnie, Bekah and Stefan following us.
Katherine ran after Jeremy, Elena and Damon as they ducked into Elena's room and locked the door. Kat turned to go through Jeremy's door as Stefan narrowly slid inside. We ran through the bathroom and into Elena's room. Kat was right behind Stefan. Damon and I slammed the door closed. Then we used our body weight to keep it that way while Elena clicked the lock into place.
Jeremy then remembered something. "My cake," he wailed.
Elena shook her head. Walking over to her closet. She opened the door. We gathered round to see the smallest fridge any of us had ever seen before. "This was Jenna's idea in case something happened." Pulling out a box, she opened it. Inside was a replacement baseball cake for Jeremy's birthday.
"But what about plates and forks?" Caroline asked. "And candles?"
Elena walked over to the nightstand. "This is all Jenna." She told us as she pulled out a box of forks, paper plates and candles.
"How will we light the cake?" Tyler asked, staring at it uncertainly.
"Bonnie can do it, right?" Damon proclaimed. "If she can float kids, she can light some candles."
We all turned to stare at Bonnie, Damon pulled the box of candles open and set three on top of the cake. "You can do it, Bon." Caroline said.
"Yeah, for Jeremy," Kol told her as Bonnie looked at Jeremy, who looked hopeful.
Closing her eyes, Bonnie scrunched her face up. "Cool." Jeremy whispered as we all looked at the lit candles.
"Make a wish, Jer." Damon told him.
Jeremy nodded. "I wish-" he began.
Elena stopped him. "You have to do it up here." She pointed at her head. "Or it won't work."
Kol rolled his eyes. "I wished on my first birthday for a baby brother. I got her." He pointed at Bekah.
Bekah glared at him. "I want a little sister."
"I want a puppy." Bonnie told us.
Damon smirked. "I want to trade Stefan for a puppy."
"I would trade Damon for Elijah," Stefan told me.
"Maybe during the weekend," I told him.
"Cake, please." Tyler begged looking around at the rest of us. "I'm so hungry." Damon picked up a fork and sliced into the cake. He gave Jeremy the first slice followed by Tyler and went around the group.
"Someone has to get the presents." Elena told us looking worried.
"Yeah," Damon sighed and patted her on the arm. "Good luck with that task."
Elena glared at him. "I'm not going down if you don't," she snapped at him.
"Lena…" Damon frowned. "This is your house and she's your sister. If she hurts you, you can just tell your Mom and Dad."
"Yeah, well, I dare you to help me," Elena retorted.
Groaning, Damon got up and walked over to the door. "One present," he warned her. They disappeared into the hallway. I closed the door and locked it behind him.
We waited until there was a tap on the door. "What's the password?" I called.
"Dare me," Damon called back. I slipped the lock and ushered them in. "I got my present." He held it out to Jeremy. Unwrapping the gift Jeremy pulled out a Ninja Turtle doll.
"Hey, that's mine," Stefan yelled. "I hate you, Damon."
"So, what?" Damon snapped as Jeremy handed Stefan the doll. Stefan held it to his chest tightly and sticking his tongue out at his brother. "I dare Saint Stefan to go get the next gift… by himself." Damon announced.
Stefan looked like he was going to attack Damon but walked over to the door instead. Ten minutes later, he tapped on the door out of breath. "She tried to get me. But I was too fast." He told us. He sat down and handed Elijah's gift to Jeremy.
Jeremy laid the object down and ripped the paper off. "What is it?" He asked, puzzled.
"It's a sled." I told him.
Jeremy's eyes lit up. "Cool."
Bonnie was the next to be dared to go down. When she came back she held my present and another two. Holding out her present to Jeremy, she placed the others by his feet. Pulling the paper off, Jeremy beamed. "Hot wheels!" Opening the present marked Mason he pulled out a Mr. Potato Head. "Awesome!"
Jeremy then opened my present. I felt a bit nervous. I had seen the boy doodle a bit and he seemed to be good at it. Pulling the paper away, Jeremy looked at the drawing book full of monsters. His eyes glowed with fasciation as he found the crayons. Getting up, he came over and hugged me. "Thanks, Klaus."
I sat back, feeling satisfied. Matt ran down and came back almost instantly with a box that looked like it might be shoes. Jeremy opened it, "Roller skates."
Caroline and I ran down together. We narrowly avoided Katherine, who was pacing around her room. I picked up a large box and nearly fell over. "Are you okay? Can I help?" Caroline asked as she peered up at me as I wobbled.
Andie, Jenna and Elijah appeared. Elijah took the box from me and we headed up the stairs. "We'll distract her," Jenna told us. We waited as the girls went inside and closed the door.
I tapped on Elena's door. "What's the password?" Damon called.
"Open the bloody door, Damon," Elijah snapped.
"Right." Damon pulled the door open and let us in.
Jeremy looked at the box curiously. "What's that?"
"Open it." Damon ordered, rolling his eyes at me. I smirked as Jeremy opened the box.
"A bike." Jeremy cried.
"For babies." Damon muttered. "Can we get out of this room now?"
"Okay. Let's make a run for it." Matt announced as he squared his shoulders like he thought he was going to run for a touchdown.
"By the way, Stefan," Damon began as he turned to his little brother. "I dare you to stay in here for the next hour. With the doors wide open." Smiling widely, Damon waltzed out of the room with a spring in his step.
I gave Stefan a sympathetic look before I ran down the stairs with the others. "I dare you all to run around the house. And then go back in and find something to throw at Kat," Damon ordered his troops.
We ran around the house. Kol and Jeremy gathered clods of dirt in their shirts. Bekah pulled some petunias and then followed them. Running into the kitchen. Elijah opened the cabinets while Damon opened the refrigerator door.
Damon pulled out a carton of eggs. He pulled out baked cherry pie and handed it to me. Finding a bottle of whip cream, he handed it to Caroline.
Elijah grabbed a bag of flour. He handed Bonnie a bottle of chocolate syrup. Matt was handed a bag of chocolate chips. Tyler got a bag of powdered sugar.
We headed upstairs with our arms. Flinging Katherine's door open wide we found… nothing.
Turning around, we found three girls in hockey masks with an array of arms. They had shaving cream, squirt guns and a bottle of Jergen's baby shampoo. "Ready. Set. Fire!" Katherine roared as she began to squirt us with Jell-o.
"Retreat." I commanded and then whipped around when Katherine thought we were leaving. Ripping her mask off, I shoved the pie into her face. "That's for saying my mom is crazy." I snarled as I motioned for Caroline to open fire. Caroline sprayed Katherine with whip cream and Matt came over to pour some chocolate chips over her head.
Katherine whipped cherry pie away from her eyes and took a bite. "Not bad."
Walking over to Elijah, she took the bag of flour and dumped some on his head. Taking the chocolate syrup from Bonnie, who was gaping, Katherine poured it over his head. Taking a petunia from Rebekah, she placed it behind his ear. "That is much better." Turning away, she walked back to her friends. "Where were we?"
We began to pour things on each other and squirt until we were all covered in sugar and dirt. Jenna had a dirty hand print on her leg. I had one on my shirt. Katherine had one on her butt which I didn't want to think about after seeing Elijah wielding one of the dirt clods.
When it was all over we ended up lying on the floor in Jeremy's room. "That was the best birthday ever!" Jeremy declared, lying in between his sisters. "Can we do that every year?"
"I don't think so." Lexi called from the doorway. "You like to make the mess. Clean it up," she told us, handing out sponges and buckets. We trudged into the hall to begin the cleanup. Soon soapy water was going anywhere but a place that would begin the task of cleaning up. Sponges were being emptied over people's heads. The sounds of laughter, crazed screams and the words "I dare you" floated through the air.
