Alex's P.O.V.

As Amanda rushes me through the streets of Manjipoor, I can't help but think of all the things that are happening so quickly. I mean, I'm ready to marry Kuru, but I just don't know how I'll break the news to my parents. They don't even know that we are in love and are "courting" each other. Now we're getting married! I guess I'm afraid that my parents will think I'm making a rash decision to marry him. One that I haven't been thinking of for a long time. Amanda has been talking for about five minutes while I've been off thinking. "Alex? Are you listening to me?" She asks. "Hmm? What? Yes! Yes I'm listening." I reply, turning my attention back to my best friend. "I was saying that since we are having two weddings, we need two dresses. By the way, when are you going to tell your parents?" She asks. I think about it for awhile, then turn suddenly to Amanda, grabbing her arm and pulling her to the palace. "Right now." I declare. I am going to get this over with right away. I run inside, leaving Amanda outside, and grab Kuru, who was signing papers. I pull him outside and quickly call Anala. "Princess, would you mind explaining what exactly we are doing?" He asks curiously. "We are going to tell my parents that we are getting married." I say, walking into my yard. I unlock the door and walk inside. It feels familiar in here. I'm glad I decided to tell them and spare myself the trouble of lying to them. I still don't know how they'll react though. "Mum? Dad? Are you here?" I call out. "Yes! Alex, what a surprise! I didn't know you were coming to visit!" Says mum, running into the living room. "It was a spur of the moment decision." I reply. " And Kuru! Why I didn't know you'd be coming either! How have you been?" Asks dad. "Very well, Sir." He replies. "U, Dad, Mum, we came to ask you something. I know this is very sudden but I love him. I'm in love with Kuru." I exclaimed. "And I love Alex. She is a wonderful girl and I'm very happy that we are finally together." Adds Kuru. "We've known each other for a long time now, and so we were wondering if, maybe, we could-" I was cut off by Kuru saying, "We were wondering if we could have your blessing. We would like to get married, if that's alright with you both." Said Kuru. "Well Alex, do you love him?" Asks Mum. " Yes. I do." I reply. 'Kuru, do you love Alex? ' Asks my Dad. " Yes. With all my heart."He replies. " Well if you two truly love each other, how can we say no? You have our blessing of course. I'm glad you did come to ask. Not many people do that any more." Says Dad. " Yes well in Manjipoor that Is how they do it. It is their tradition." I explain. " Well that's very good. Now Kuru, do you have a job in Manjipoor?" Asks Mum. " Yes I am the royal advisor to the princess who is coincidentally also getting married soon." He says proudly. " Does that pay well?" Asks Dad. "Well yes, but that is not why I love the job. Helping the princess is a noble and highly wanted job. I am glad and honored to have it." He adds. "Well that is very good. Alex, I suppose we have a wedding to plan. Will you be moving to Manjipoor I suppose?" Asks Mum with a sad look on her face. " Yes. It is a beautiful country." I reply. " Where is it exactly? We should want to come and visit sometime once you are married." She asks. " No mum, I'm afraid that's not possibe. It's very expensive to get to manjipoor and no planes and few boats go there so it's difficult to get there as well. We will come visit you often, I promise but you can't visit there. Please respect us in this. Dad, Mum, please. We promise to visit very often but it is too expensive. Perhaps someday, if we get a little more money, you can come, but not right now. We will have the wedding here and see grandma." I plead. They cannot come to Mankipoor and they cannot know why either. Perhaps someday I will tell them, but not now. They may not let us get married if they knew. " Oh Kuru, will your family be coming?" Asks Dad. " No, I'm afraid not. My parents are not living. I was raised as an orphan since the age of nine." He says sadly. " Oh I'm very sorry to here that. Don't you have any other family?" Asks Mum. " No. It's just me. I have no living relatives." He replies. " Oh! I just thought of it, Kuru, what is your last name?" Asks Dad. "My last name is- " "it's Kalani. My last name will be Kalani." I interrupt. "Isn't that a girls first name though?" Asks Mum, slightly confused. " Yes but it is also Kuru's last name. Alex Kalani. Alexandra Kalani. Well we must go. We have a wedding to plan!" I exclaim grabbing Mum and heading out the door.
