It wasn't quiet when Trent beamed in. Voices could be heard from every direction as everyone in the café seemed to be talking. The tables weren't out, but there were chairs for the minorly wounded. Trent had a feeling that the more damaged groups were still in the hospital. He'd begged to be transported back. Of course, that meant that he was counting on the transporter being undamaged in the battle, but he'd begged and pleaded for about five minutes before he finally took a breath and was told that it wasn't a problem. He turned and looked at Hayley who had been the one to get him there. "Thank you," he said politely. She nodded.

"Just don't make a mess of things," she said, half-joking with a small smile. He opened his mouth to apologize before realizing that she probably would just get annoyed if he apologized for the eighth time since Christmas. "Anton and Elsa are over in the corner patching up Sander."

"I thought they were safe!" He said and Hayley quickly put her hands up to calm him.

"The house got hit, Trent. Sander just got knocked around a bit protecting everyone," she said. He nodded. She paused for a minute before giving a small smile. "I heard what you did in New York."

He gave her a quiet smile. "I did what I had to do."

"I know," Hayley said. "You're a Power Ranger."

With that, she turned to work on something else that Trent couldn't see, but he recognized the praise for what it was. He smiled wider to himself as he made his way to Anton and Elsa who looked up at him and, before he knew it, Anton had wrapped his arms around him in a rare show of public affection. He felt a hand on his shoulder and glanced to see Elsa looking a little uncertain. He gave her a quick nod and she joined in. There were no words. They didn't need any. When they broke apart, Trent looked at Anton. "What's going on?"

"Pre-memorial," Mercer answered. "Everyone is staying together until we can finish organizing one. We've been calling families all day."

"The memorial…" Trent started and Mercer nodded.

"It's just for Rangers and those who know," he answered. "I'm not sure where the rest of your team is, but you should go look for them."

"Are they okay?" Trent asked, letting the worry edge into his voice. He didn't wait for the answer as he rushed into the mob, looking for them. It wasn't just former Rangers, he quickly noticed, but Silver Guardians, techs and guards from Mariner Bay, several ninjas, and other people he didn't recognize. He made his way through them and looked relieved when he saw a familiar face. "Dustin?"

"Trent!" Dustin said with a grin, waving. Shane was standing over him, arms folded, though he did give a quick nod to Trent.

"The missing White Dino Thunder Ranger, right?" Shane asked. Trent nodded sheepishly and Shane nodded. "Nice to meet you. Dustin said you're drawing the pictures for their comic book?"

"Yeah," Trent answered and looked more closely at Dustin. "Are you okay?"

"He nearly suffocated," Tori said as she headed over, putting a hand on Dustin's shoulder as she took her seat. "They pulled him down."

"Tori, dude, I'm fine!" Dustin insisted. Tori looked at Trent.

"He won't go to the hospital. Blake and Hunter had to shock him to get him back and Shane won't leave him in case he needs air, but he thinks he's fine," she said, sounding a bit choked up. Dustin looked at Trent.

"I've got my team, Dude," he said. "I'll be fine."

Trent nodded at that and took it as an opening. "Speaking of…"

"I think I saw Kira helping set up for the funeral," Tori said, completely understanding. "I'm not sure where Ethan and Conner are. I'm guessing Ethan is with the other Blues and Greens, but Conner's been really quiet."

"Thank you," Trent said and paused before heading off. "Umm, when everything's calmed down a bit, maybe we can all talk?"

Tori nodded and Dustin grinned as Trent took off after. He didn't care that he'd decided to go to school in New York. When the funeral was over, he was getting Ethan to set him up with a teleportation device so that he was never stuck far away from his family and team again.

"It looks nice so far." Kim whirled around to see Aisha smiling at her. There was only a moment of surprise before Kim had made her way to her friend and kneeled down.

"Should you be out of the hospital?" She demanded. Aisha gave a choked laugh.

"The Power stabilized me," she answered. "I wasn't a priority."

"Got it," she said. There was silence between the two of them for a minute as neither really knew what to say. 'Sorry you lost your ability to walk' sounded just as bad as 'Sorry you lost your student' in terms of politeness. Neither wanted to talk about it and it was clear that they both knew it. Instead, Kim sat down across from Aisha. "We've been getting condolence letters all morning."

"From who?" Aisha asked.

"Other planets," Kim answered. "Kat volunteered to go through them and answer most of them. I think she just wants something to do so she doesn't have to think about things. Sort of like why we're letting Dana check everyone over and why we sent Carter's team to do emergency clean-up. Tommy spent half an hour getting Seth, Jera, and Ben to come to this funeral as well as Tara's. They're not being mean, but I don't think they're ready to accept it. I just… organized things."

"Like you always do when you're upset," Aisha reminded her softly. "How are the other three?"

"Kira and Ethan wouldn't leave Conner so they all had to get checked out together. Conner hasn't said much, but he won't look us in the eyes. Tommy says it reminds him too much of when he was the Green Ranger. He's tried talking to Conner, but Conner just kind of stares off. I've tried and it was worse. He did what he had to do, right?" Kim asked, looking at her friend with desperation. Aisha still didn't know what had happened, but she recognized the panicked look on Kim's face and gave her a sympathetic smile.

"He still broke a rule." The voice wasn't Aisha's. Kim looked over and saw Trent standing there, hands in his pockets and not really looking at her. "He did the right thing, but he had to break Zordon's rules. At least, he thinks he did. Kira explained as much as she could to me when she called."

"But we don't care that he did!" Kim said and Trent paused for a minute before sitting down with the two of them.

"That doesn't stop him from feeling guilty," he answered and paused before continuing. Aisha seemed to understand what he was going to say next and gave him a quick nod to say it. "Especially with you and Doctor Oliver."

Kim blinked and looked horrified. "But we're his mentors!"

"Exactly," Trent said. "If you had done it, would you be listening to Zordon?"

"I wouldn't even want to look at Zordon," Kim said miserably as she understood. She looked at Trent. "Then how do I help him?"

Trent was quiet for a moment before he answered. "I'll try talking to him. He won't feel he let me down."

"Trent's right," Tommy said as he came up behind them, looking just as tired as his wife. He looked over at Trent. "I think you should give it a shot."

Trent nodded started to head off. Kim quickly looked up at him. "Trent! Welcome home."

"Thank you," he said with a polite smile which grew when Tommy nodded his approval. He headed away from the three as Aisha looked in amusement at Kim and Tommy.

"The prodigal son came home, huh?" She asked. "About time. You two are okay with this, right?"

"He's a Power Ranger," Tommy said. "He even risked his life in New York. Kira said that he was in tears because he wasn't able to save this one woman."

"I'm just glad he's home and safe with us," Kim said. "Mercer is thrilled he's back for a bit. I think he's going to have trouble when Trent has to go back to school. At least Ethan, Conner, and Kira were here for all the good it did us. Trent was on the other side of the country."

Tommy snickered causing both women to look at him. "I talked to Ethan about that. Ethan said he doesn't care what Trent thinks: He's making a teleporter for him and Trent will take it, like it, and come back when they need to be a team."

"I give them fifteen minutes before they abuse it," Aisha teased. Both of the adults shot her a look. "Oh come on! If Zordon had let us, we would have been teleporting all over the place to watch movies, go roller blading, see what a Peace Conference looks like…"

Both Kim and Tommy looked at her and all three of them laughed. Aisha had a very good point. As they went into different scenarios on what they could have done, it seemed for that moment like nothing had gone horribly wrong and they were teenagers once again.

Kira reached up, trying to get the decoration up and felt the nuzzle of Yellow on her arm. He lowered his head and she climbed onto his back to gently set it up. They'd decided on a white rose over each of the pictures of the deceased other than Tara's whose would be yellow and Captain Mitchell's who had two: one pink and one silver. She'd decided to start with Tara since she'd been her secondary mentor. "Umm… Kira?"

She looked down to see Danny awkwardly waving at her. She jumped down and gave him a smile, forced as it was. "Hi, Danny," she said. "Did you need something?"

"I have the rest of the flowers you asked for. I wanted to know if you need help putting them up," he said quietly.

"Thank you," she said as she nodded, forcing back the lump in her throat. "I… I need to stay busy but…"

Danny put his hand on her shoulder but didn't say anything as she started crying. Instead, he gently pulled her to him and held her as she let lose in the way she felt she couldn't with her teammates. She glanced up to see Cole coming over to join them and Danny gave her knowing smile before handing her off to Cole. She looked at him for a minute and he finally spoke up. "Your heart was crying," he explained.

It wasn't a great explanation, but that didn't stop Kira from nodding. "Tara…"

"You don't have to explain," Cole said. "But if you want to, I might be able to help."

Kira opened her mouth to strike back that he didn't understand when she saw the look in his eye that he did. Her mind flashed back to what she knew about Cole's team and the term 'empath' came to her. She couldn't help but to laugh which surprised Cole. "You should talk to Zack when all of this is over. He's been wanting a psychiatrist."

"I'm not…" Cole started and Kira found that her smile wasn't as forced.

"You're an empath. It's a start, right?" She asked. "Can we… can we talk later?"

Cole nodded. "Let Taylor know. She can find me."

He gave her a nod and headed off as Kira quietly made plans to help Zack get this figured out. She glanced over to see Zack gently shove Justin who was snickering about something. She inwardly grinned at that since Justin had seemed a lot more moody before Zack took over. She waved over at them and both waved back. She saw the cat-woman from before say something else and Justin laughed even harder as Zack glared. Kira smiled to herself before she looked over to see Trent walking around. "Trent?!"

"Hey. Hayley transported me," he said, waving politely. "I, uh, I was looking for Conner. Ethan said he's not okay."

"He's not," she said, wrapping her arms around Trent in a friendly hug which he returned. "Do you think you can help?"

"I think I have the best chance," he admitted. "And I want to try."

"Are you okay? The last time I talked to you…" she started, but he cut her off.

"I can't save everyone even if I really want to," he said. "I have to accept that. It's hard because I feel like I should be even better because I was evil, but there's only so much I can do. And that's what I need to go get into Conner's head."

Kira looked pensive for a minute before she motioned toward the other door. "He's out back," she said. "Trent? Welcome home."

"Thanks," he said as he headed out of the building. Kira watched as he left and paused for a minute before lifting her communicator to her mouth.

"Ethan? Trent's back."

Trent found his quarry sitting against the wall with his raptor beside him. Red glanced up at Trent and Trent's heart beat faster, but the raptor ignored him, putting his head back on Conner's shoulder. That told Trent everything he needed to know about how well Conner was doing even if he hadn't already guessed. He walked over and slid down next to Conner, staying quiet for several minutes as both of them just watched everyone else.

"You're back," Conner finally said softly. Trent nodded.

"My team needs me," he said with a slight smile. Conner returned it before both smiles fell away. "It isn't your fault."

"Trent, I don't want to talk about it," Conner said.

"I know. I didn't either," Trent said.

"I stabbed her, Trent. I broke Zordon's rules. How can you say it isn't my fault?" Conner snapped. Trent sighed and wrapped his arms around his chest as Conner went back to being quiet.

"If a monster would have grabbed a kid and went to kill it but Kira killed the monster first, would you say she was wrong?" Trent asked. Conner looked up at him in horror.

"No!" Conner said. "She had to!"

"Why?" Trent asked.

"Because the kid would have died!" Conner answered. Trent sat down and faced Conner.

"Exactly," he said. "Just like, according to Kira, if you hadn't done it this way, the world would have been destroyed."

"That doesn't make it better, Trent," Conner muttered.

"I know. Just like I can hear everyone talking about how I was under a spell and that wasn't my fault. It still hurts when I see Dante or Kim. It still hurts when I think about everything I did. It hurts Kim and Doctor O to think about the fact that Scorpina was trying to get back at them so they feel it's indirectly their fault. Kira and Ethan feel guilty they weren't with you. I feel guilty that I was in New York instead of here," Trent said softly. "It's not going to just get better."

Conner paused. "How did you handle it?"

"I talked to Dad," Trent answered. "And then to you guys later."

"Oh," Conner answered. "Look, I appreciate it but…"

"You need some time alone. I know," Trent answered with a slight smile and headed away. "But Conner? If you hadn't done it, the world would have been destroyed. If Kim and Doctor O hadn't fought as the original Rangers, we never would have had the others and Rita would have taken over the world. If Kira and Ethan had been with you, they wouldn't have been able to do the good that they did. If I hadn't been in New York…"

"A lot more people would have died," Conner finished for him. "I heard. Good job."

"Thanks," Trent said, actually leaving. Conner called out after him.

"And Trent? Welcome home." Trent just grinned.

Pictures were set up in the front, row after row with Captain Mitchell's on one side and Tara's on the other nearest the center. Trent had taken his place with his team and father. Mercer had his arm around Elsa and was facing forward. On his other side, Tommy held Kim as she cried while Ethan, Kira, and Conner huddled together. Kira looked over and motioned with her head. He shook his, but by that time Ethan and Conner looked over. Conner made the leader-like motion for him to come over and Ethan gave a weak smile. Slowly, he headed over, unsure of himself. Kira threw an arm around him, pulling him into the huddle while Ethan absently patted his back. Trent relaxed, just taking it all in.

He glanced over to see the other Rangers who were quietly watching and crying. Carter and Ryan were both holding onto Dana who was sobbing. Ryan's eyes were wet and every so often, he angrily brushed the tears away. Wes and Eric each were looking over the pictures of the fallen Guardians while Tori, Dustin, Cam, and Shane quietly looked at the fallen ninjas. Blake and Hunter were supporting them. He wasn't listening to the sermon but then again, he wasn't sure if any of them really were.

He heard a few footsteps and looked over to see Ben, Jera, and Seth heading over. Unlike before, they looked too tired to be angry and just seemed resigned. He gave them a quick nod which caused Ethan and Kira to look over as well. Conner lifted his head up, made eye contact with Seth and then lowered his head again. The three took their place nearby, but not quite near the Dino Thunder Rangers. Trent did notice that they seemed to cling together like most of the other teams and gave a small smile as he realized that, with time, they'd be okay.

Wes, Eric, and the Silver Guardians were the first to leave. They needed to get back to Mr. Collins who was trying to piece together what was left of his facility. The Galaxy Rangers and Astro Rangers were the second group since they lived further away and had things of their own to get done. After that, the other groups started to pour out as they headed back to their own bases with teammates who were injured and just wanting to check on everyone. Kim rested her head on Tommy's shoulder as he held her to him, both of them more tired than they wanted to admit. Glancing over at Hayley and Billy, they noticed Hayley was fast asleep with his head resting on top of his.

Neen and Dante, who had both been extremely well behaved, were over with Jason and Trini as the new mother showed off her baby. Kim sat up at that and looked at Tommy who noticed as well. Both of them hurried over to where she was standing and Kim smiled. "He's adorable, Trini," she squealed, her voice just under her normal enthusiastic level.

"Well, considering I want you to be his godmother, I'm glad you think so," Trini teased, handing Oliver over to Kim to see. Tommy clapped Jason on the shoulder as he looked over the kid.

"Oliver?"

"For his godfather. Well, one of them," Jason said. Tommy looked surprised. "You'll have to share the job with Zack and Billy."

"I can live with that," Tommy said. "Where is Zack?"

"Ethan and Justin said he's flirting with the cat-lady," Neen said helpfully. Kim turned to find both Ethan and Justin looking a bit sheepish as she said it.

"Really, guys?" She scolded. Justin scowled.

"Well he is," he muttered, dropping it quickly after that before she got angry at him. Kim, for her part, just sighed. "I don't think he even realizes it."

"I hope they get married," Dante offered. As they looked over at him, he shrugged. "I want cake."

"And karaoke!" Neen said which just caused both Kim and Trini to glare at their husbands. Both of them quickly put their hands up apologetically as Ethan and Justin snickered. Kim looked over at Ethan with slight exasperation.

"Where are Kira, Conner, and Trent?" She asked, trying to find the rest of her family.

"Bonding?" Ethan offered. Kim glared at him and Ethan felt distinctly uncomfortable.

"Bonding," she said dryly. "And what sort of bonding are they doing?"

"The kind I don't want to tell you about?" Ethan tried again. He noticed that Tommy had turned his attention to him as well and he fidgeted. "It's a surprise."

"What kind of surprise?" Tommy asked.

"A good one?" He offered. Tommy sighed.

"They swore you to secrecy?" He asked and Ethan nodded. "Fine."

"Fine?" Ethan asked in surprise at the same time Kim asked, "Really?"

"I think I can trust the lot of you at this point," Tommy said. "Just… stay out of trouble."

Ethan nodded and started to head off before looking at Kim. She sighed, but nodded for him to go. Ethan raced off, leaving the others waiting. Tommy gently kissed Kim as they did so and turned back to the baby.

"Are you guys done yet?" Ethan asked as he slipped in with the others. He hadn't wanted to abandon Justin as he really enjoyed his company, but this was a team thing. Kira shook her head, but moved closer to Conner so Ethan could fit in. On the computer, a woman smiled at him which Ethan shared.

"You must be Ethan," she said. "You know, they may not appreciate this."

"They need a break," Conner said. "And you offered."

"Besides," Trent said quietly. "They're all about second chances."

"This is a bit different," the woman told him, but shrugged. "That said, I do have more at my disposal to be a mentor for a magical group."

"You really think Briarwood is in trouble?" Kira asked. The woman nodded. "You probably shouldn't introduce yourself as Rita Repulsa."

"I dropped the second half a while ago," she assured them. "Still, I think it would be better to be a quieter mentor on this one. I think Udonna can handle most of this."

"So, call yourself something mysterious like 'the magic one'," Ethan suggested. Rita made a face, but thought about it.

"Perhaps, Mystic Mother will suffice," she suggested, noticing that they didn't look horrified by the suggestion. "So, how should I go about telling your mentors?"

"We'll do it," Conner said tiredly, forcing a smile. "Just… make sure they don't end up in Udonna's spot, okay?"

"Done," she said and, with that, she was gone. Kira, Trent, and Ethan looked over at Conner. Each of them had the same question, but it was Ethan who finally asked.

"So, how are we going to tell Doctor O and Kim?" He asked. Conner thought about it for a minute and then shrugged.

"We'll do it in a week. And whoever tells them should probably try to hold the baby," Conner said. Kira gave him a look.

"Didn't Billy, Zack, and Jason get in trouble for doing that with Neen?" She asked. Conner looked at her deadpan.

"They had to tell Tommy he was going to be a mentor again because he was getting a nephew. We have to tell them that we agreed to let a former villainess be a mentor for magical Power Rangers because we think they need a vacation right after a different former nemesis of theirs nearly destroyed the world. Do you want to tell them without Oliver?" He asked. Trent's eyes widened.

"Not it," he said quickly. They all looked at him and he shrugged. "I don't care that I'm nearly twenty. Not. It."

"Not it and I call Neen," Ethan said quickly. Kira and Conner just looked at him. "Trent has a point."

Kira and Conner looked at each other. Sure they were teammates, lovers, and friends, but this was a matter of survival. Conner was the first to talk. "You do it. Doctor O likes you more."

"Kim likes you more," Kira pushed. "Besides, you have the trauma working for you."

"Thanks, Kira," he muttered.

"You're the leader," she said, throwing in the final bit. When she was certain she won, she smirked. "And I call Dante."

"I hate you guys."

A week seemed to help heal the wounds left, though it was only the beginning. Still, there was less moping and everyone felt like it was okay to laugh and smile again. It was slow going, but Kim felt slightly better. She was glad that her friends decided to stay in town for the time being. Adam was over with Rocky and Aisha who were both trading jokes and glancing over at designs that Billy and Hayley were working on for them. Kim hadn't headed over there, afraid of the results that Billy would come up with. Usually, Hayley tempered him, but she looked just as eager and Aisha and Rocky seemed to be happily making it worse with ideas. Tanya and Kat were chatting in the corner as Jason teased Kat about being a temporary red, which she very quickly insisted she wasn't. Zack was on the phone with his company, getting things like insurance figured out while Justin tinkered on something or another next to him. Trini was breastfeeding Oliver in the corner with Neen and Dante, who they still hadn't managed to find the mother of. Kim did a head count, glanced over her shoulder to see Tommy standing there and realized who was missing. "Where are the kids?"

"Last I checked?" Tommy asked. "Sending another email to Jera."

"How's that going?" Kim asked.

"Ethan thinks that Jera and Ben will be okay to come talk with us about it in a few months. He's giving Seth up to six months unless it's an emergency," Tommy answered.

"I can't blame them," Kim said. "We lost Tara."

"Not your fault," Aisha called over. "It happens."

"We've mentored twice and lost a kid. Zordon never lost anyone," Tommy argued. Aisha rolled her eyes.

"Maybe you don't remember how crazy it was out there," she said. "We haven't seen anything that bad since... since Zordon's death. And at that point, we lost him."

Kim and Tommy exchanged a look that said that neither truly believed that, but they were willing to go along with it for now. Aisha accepted it with a nod as Kim sighed. "We should prepare for next year anyway."

They all turned and looked at Tommy and Kim. Zack quickly hung up the phone. "I thought it was Billy and my turn."

"It is," Tommy answered. "But Kim has decided that the Power wants us to do it no matter what. She's been on this kick for days."

"It's true," she muttered. "And we don't have anything ready this time."

"Uh… Kim? Doctor O?" Conner said, stepping into the room. Kim worried when she saw the others staying both behind him and nearly hiding there. She looked directly at her student. "That's not exactly true."

"What do you mean, Conner?" Tommy asked gruffly. Conner glanced back at the others who motioned him to keep going. That also didn't inspire confidence into Kim, especially when Trent was do the same as the others.

"Well, uh, we got a note," he answered. "It was technically addressed to all of us."

"How come we haven't heard about it?" Tommy asked.

"Well, uh, because Ethan got to it first and thought you wouldn't want to know?" He asked, looking like he'd like to run. Both of the adults turned on Ethan who gulped.

"When I saw who it was from, I thought maybe you wouldn't want to know and you guys were busy with stuff…" he started, looking at Kira with panic. She quickly took over.

"So, we took care of it," she answered. "We, umm, called back."

"Called who back?" Kim asked. Kira looked back at Ethan who looked at Conner who swallowed. He felt a hand on his back as Trent took his place next to him.

"Rita," he answered. "We contacted Rita."

"Please tell me it's not the Rita I'm thinking of," Kim groaned as she held her head. Tommy looked furious at them. Conner just nodded.

"It's that Rita."

"What did she want?" Tommy asked.

"Well, there's a magic problem thing in Briarwood," Conner answered. "And, uh, she knows the lady who has the morphers for magic Rangers. So, uh, she said you guys should take a break and she's got this one!"

"Well that was nice of her," Trini said pleasantly before Kim or Tommy could say anything. "Did she say if she needed anything?"

"We helped her pick out a new name," Kira answered. "And they already have a more active mentor: This lady named Udonna. So, really, Rita is just going to keep an eye on things."

"You like giving second chances," Trent said, arms folded. Tommy glared at him.

"This is different. This is Rita Repulsa," he snapped.

"Who has helped us out before," Trini said sternly. "She hasn't shown any sort of act of being evil again. I think we should let her help."

"I agree," Jason quickly said. They looked over and he shrugged. "I told Trini I'd be willing to back her when it came to Zedd and Rita."

"I may never be able to forgive Divatox," Billy said slowly as he pulled his daughter to him. "But the three did help. Trini was the one who spoke with her."

"I've always been willing to trust Trini," Zack said with a lazy grin. "And these kids know what they're doing, guys. Trust them."

Kim looked at the four of them looking back at her and sighed. "Fine," she said, looking at Tommy who looked just as tired before nodding. "But it better go well."

"It will," Conner insisted. "And you guys can do whatever it is you do that we never need to know about."

Both of his mentors gave him a look at that, but he easily ignored both of them. Trini and Zack were both laughing, Billy chuckled, and Jason smirked. Kim broke into a smile. "We get a break," she said. Tommy's frown shifted into a smile.

"I'm getting some time off," he insisted and looked at the four Dino Thunder Rangers. "We're going on a roadtrip."

"Can it not be a roadtrip?" Ethan begged. "My computer won't work."

"We'll talk about it later," Kim answered before Tommy could protest. "We're still taking a vacation."

She pulled Conner and Ethan to her in a hug while Tommy wrapped an arm around Kira's shoulder and clasped Trent's. The past year had been full of heartbreak and they still felt it, but as they stood there with their students, the three children in the corner, and their friends near them, they felt more right than they had in a long time. And if he could, Kim and Tommy knew that Zordon was smiling down at them now in pride.
