A/N: Soo. fancy seeing you all here again :)) well, I really have zero excuse for not posting except school got hectic, gymnastics got hectic, and life in general just turned into this big, huge, crazy tornado. But, I am back, and I am honestly not sure how much I will be posting from now on. I just loved this one shot series so I wanted to continue it. Thanks, and you know the drill. Review and stuff :) (and please don't come hunting me down with a chainsaw I'm really so so sorry for being inactive) xx.
Hello world
Hope you're listening
Forgive me if I'm young
For speaking out of turn
There's someone I've been missing
I think that they could be
The better half of me
Derrick sat on the leather couch of his L.A apartment, watching his ex-girlfriend, Massie Block break down in tears. His lukewarm Coors sat on the coffee table untouched as his heart started to beat rapidly at the thought of her hurting. He desperately wanted to reach through the laptop screen and pull her into a tight embrace. Derrick just wanted to erase all of the hurt he'd caused her and to kiss her senseless.
Perhaps it was the alcohol catching up to him, or maybe it was the underlying guilt and pain he'd felt for the past five months, but Derrick closed out of the video of Massie and logged onto Twitcam. He wearily typed out a tweet claiming, "Twitcam in two minutes! be there or be square xx."
His hands shook as he chugged down the remaining contents of the glass beer bottle and watched as the tiny numbers in the corner of the live camera counted down from three. In three seconds he would be making the most desperate ploy for the love of his life to come back to him.
A red live button showed up on his screen and indicated that he was broadcasting live to over 2 million viewers by now. He drew in a deep breathe and waved sheepishly, "Hi, I'm Derrick Harrington, and I hope you're all listening really well. Especially one girl I've been missing like crazy. She's honestly my other half, and every since you left babe I've been lost without the better side of me."
I get lost in the beauty
Of everything I see
The world ain't half as bad
As they paint it to be
If all the sons,
All the daughters
Stopped to take it in
Well hopefully the hate subsides and the love can begin
It might start now, yeah
Well maybe I'm just dreaming out loud.
Derrick drew in another shaky breath praying that Mass was watching this. "But babe, you know what's really crazy? You've changed the way I see the world," he paused biting down on his pink lips, "I just, you were always the optimistic one in the relationship. You taught me to see the beauty in everything, and to always see the positive in everything."
He ran a hand absently across the stubble that had formulated on his sharp jawline, "I mean, if everyone viewed the world the way you did, love, I think that the feeling of hate would subside and everyone could learn to love each other."
Derrick laughed to himself thinking of Massie's indignant looks she'd throw him when he'd claim to hate "some fuckface on the team that doesn't know how to kick a goddamn soccer ball correctly". Usually, she'd invite the fucker over to dinner and make Derrick play nice, and soon, the ill feelings and tensions would be gone by the time Massie came into the kitchen with a plate of her famous chocolate chip cookies.
"But yeah, you could fix any situation. You could probably be the next Ghandi. You're smart and beautiful.. and just amazing," Derrick continued to ramble on thinking of the girl who often haunted his dreams. "But, I don't know, maybe I'm just crazy and shouting out this crazy ideology to the world," he whispered with a shake of his head.
Come home
Come home
Cause I've been waiting for you
For so long
For so long
"But in all seriousness guys," Derrick started again locking eyes with the camera, "I have an important message to send to her."
He fiddled with his thumbs and ruffled his hands through his shaggy hair, "Massie Block, I know you probably don't want anything to do with me after how I treated you. I don't deserve you, I'm well aware of that. But babe, please come home. I've been waiting for a girl like you to walk into my life, and you did during freshman year of high school. Mass, I miss you so much, and I hate seeing you cry. Just please, consider it. I love you so much."
On that note, Derrick sighed and shut of his laptop as he stared aimlessly around the room. His phone buzzed shocking him from his dazed state. His heart fluttered as the contact name, "Block", popped onto the screen of his iPhone.
The blue text box sent his mind into overdrive and an excited ball grew in his stomach,
"I miss you too, can we please talk?"
