Chapter 30
Naruto smiled happily as he slid back into his spot up at the Diner. He had never been so happy to be home, nor had the others. Their mission had been much simpler than they had though when dealing with the last to pieces of the puzzle.
Orochimaru had been a little more predictable than they had thought. And after only a few hours of waiting he had shown up. But one man no matter how powerful he may be, could not beat four powerful ninja, bent on killing him, not to mention Kyuubi.
He had dodged attacks with surprised ease till Kyuubi's tail came crashing down on him flattening him. Itachi Naruto then stepped forward, and brought fourth a ghost Pokémon only Naruto had seen before. The Pokémon, Dusknoir, as Naruto named it moved forward before its stomach opened up wide. Orochimaru, still alive but unable to move, was sucked in then out of this opening shot multiple lines of chakra.
Even Hinata could not see where they all reached, the Dusknoir grabbed several of them before pulling hard. Whatever the strings were attached to seem to fight for a few moments before without warning they went slack. Dusknoir not missing a beat began pulling the lines of chakra feeding it back into that weird mouth.
Hinata gasped loudly as several people came into view, each one was someone who had a cursed mark connected to their body. Dusknoir rather than consuming them with Orochimaru floated over to each of them. With a sharp yank, and a yell of complete and utter pain from each person who had the mark, it removed the mark from them and ate the thread.
Naruto and the other watched quietly as Dusknoir continued. He recognized at least two of the people, Anko and Sasuke of the Leaf Village. Naruto felt a little bit of pain at causing all these people pain, but considering it met removing Orochimaru forever he was not about to stop Dusknoir either. Finally the ghost was finished, and then with a nod from Naruto vanished.
"What… was that," Itachi had asked.
"That Pokémon, has a scary ability to capture the spirits of people and send them to the world of the dead. It would seem Orochimaru made a few plans to make sure he could never be fully taken. But they failed in the end," Naruto said before making a few clones.
These clones ran off with the Sasuke and Anko taking them back to the Leaf Village. Naruto was not sure where all the others should be taken to, so he left a few clones to guard each of them, and later take them back home when they awoke.
Zetsu was the last to fall of their targets. He had made a move to remove Naruto permanently after Naruto's abilities had proved to be too dangerous to leave unchecked. But what Zetsu did not realize was Annabel's ability was more than a match to sense him. As such one time when he surfaced to find out more information to kill Naruto. He had his head quickly removed by Annabel's and Hinata's quick actions.
With done they moved to deal with the last objective, and that was to destroy the creature itself. But what they found was not the creature, but a massive statue that was close to Kyuubi's own size. After a great many tries, and even getting some help from Kyuubi they found the statue could not be destroyed. At least not by normal means.
It was at this point that Annabel with Naruto's help summoned both Arceus and Mew. Even their attacks though were not enough. The statue just was not taking enough damage for the amount of energy they were putting into attacking it. In the end they tried one last idea, which surprisingly enough worked. Rather than simply blow the statue to bits, they using their combined powers sent it hurtling off into space towards the sun. It was Mew who tracked it all the way to the sun, and made sure if made impact.
Now with this done, they were able to head home to rest, while Arceus and Mew returned to their own world. Annabel and Itachi had decided to stay with Naruto and the others at least for now. And within a month or so things were once again starting to settle down again.
It was almost a year later when their quiet life changed, decided to take a turn towards the exciting side again. By this point each of the five were raising teams of Pokémon. The five had moved out of the small dinner into a much larger building to better hold the amount of people that came through on a daily bases through the port city.
Yugito, and Hinata were in the Kitchen cooking up a small storm like always. While Itachi managed the money, and Annabel and Naruto ran food out and took orders. It was a normal Monday afternoon with about forty people filling the place after the afternoon rush.
Naruto had just slipped into the kitchen to take a small break when Annabel his, now, girlfriend came in holding a scroll. Naruto took it for a few moments, and read it. Once he was done he tossed it into the oven, shaking his head.
"Something wrong?" Hinata asked.
"No not at all, Tsunade finally retired it would seem and is coming for a visit. She wants a rematch and says I cannot back out of it," Naruto said chuckling.
"Who is the new Hokage," Yugito asked.
"Kakashi," Naruto said with a small laugh.
"Is that all?" Hinata asked.
"Well, the other part is they are sending a team to talk with us about returning to the village," Naruto said rolling his eyes.
"Somehow I don't think this will end to well," Annabel said, before the doors swung open and an Espeon came in and nudging her leg.
"More people out there Naruto," Annabel said before leaving the kitchen.
Naruto nodded and gave one last glance to the fire where the scroll now sat burning. He should have known the village would never leave them alone. But hay, they had defeated the Akatsuki by themselves. The Leaf Village was going to be a piece of cake by comparison. Naruto chuckled as he left the kitchen for the dining room outside, even if they fought life was still good. And he was not about to give up the one he had for another.
