Sequel of A New Life

Ch. 6 Plans in Motion

Sakura giggled as her and Sasuke made their way into the mansion's indoor garden, "You know you don't have to carry me everywhere."

Sasuke tightened his arms around the pinkette as he walked toward their favorite spot with her in his arms, "I either push you in a wheelchair or carry you. I prefer the later."

Sakura smiled as she looked around at all the beautiful flower arrangements. She'd been out of the hospital over a week and got the awkward cast around her cracked ribs exchanged for tight bandages the day before. Nothing had happened to her or anyone close to her but she still had yet to return to school. Hinata and Ino gladly came over to do homework with her and Sasuke; Sasuke was finally going back to school the next day. Sakura gave a happy sigh as Sasuke set her down in front of the large cherry blossom tree, "What am I going to do without you?"

Sasuke gave a small frown, "I can wait longer to go back to school."

Sakura shook her head and wrapped her arms around one of his, "No I want you to go back. I love spending all this time with you but we need to start getting back to our normal lives…or at least make whoever's after us think that. Besides, you're mother is wonderful company."

Sasuke quietly leaned over and kissed the side of her head, "I know…I'd still rather be with you. See that you're safe with my own eyes."

Sakura gave an encouraging smile, "You know I'll be safe. You're parents have gone above and beyond to put protection over us; it'll be okay."

Sasuke remained silent as he caressed the top of one of her hands with his. Sakura leaned her head into his shoulder and stared up at the beautiful tree in front of them. Sasuke quietly watched her in the corner of his eye and then looked up at the tree, "You never told me why this is your favorite spot."

Sakura gave a bright smile and watched as petals fell from the tree, "Because…it reminds me of when we met."

Sasuke gave a faint smile over the memory of Naruto and him meeting her under all the cherry blossom trees of the park over a year ago. He gave a small laugh under his breath, "First time seeing you should've let me know how much trouble you are."

Sakura mildly smacked the side of his arm, "Hey you get hit on too. If people didn't think you were so intimidating it'd happen way more."

Sasuke raised an eyebrow, "Do you want me to be less intimidating to other girls?"

Sakura gave a small pout as her cheeks reddened a little; she shifted her eyes away from him, "It wouldn't hurt…it's not like you'd do anything."

Sasuke smiled a little at her trust in him and kissed her cheek, "And you're cute when you're jealous."

Sakura blushed more as she tossed a slightly annoyed glance at him. He gave a small laugh under his breath and quickly stood up. Sakura furrowed her eyebrows together, "What are you doing?"

Sasuke leaned over and carefully lifted her up with her casted left leg and arm. Sakura slowly gained balance on her right foot as Sasuke wrapped one arm around her waist and held her free hand up in the air, "Reliving another memory."

Sakura gave a soft smile as Sasuke carefully swayed back and forth with her. He was reenacting when he asked her to be his. She leaned her head on his chest just like she did over a year ago and listened to his heartbeat. They danced for a while in an awkward waddle with all of Sakura's injuries but the moment was meaningful just the same. Sasuke gave a peaceful look down at Sakura leaning against his chest; even though it was the same day she was abducted by Danzo it was by far on of his favorite memories. Sakura glanced up sensing his gaze on her and gave him a beautiful smile. Sasuke's lips tilted up in a soft smile as they stared into each other's eyes. Sakura's smile grew more as Sasuke leaned his face in; she quickly closed her eyes as he gave her a cherishing kiss.

_at school_

Suigetsu took a quick chug of his water after he took seat in his new classroom. Kakashi had just introduced him but Suigetsu knew he needed to stay low; he wouldn't screw up like Karin did. Juugo had been put in the same classroom as Karin so he could make sure she stayed in check; Suigetsu got the joy to observe the ones Orochimaru was after so greedily. Suigetsu made a small glance at Naruto; he was the most intriguing. Suigetsu was placed in the back of the room so attention towards the class wouldn't cross over him. He was also in the corner closest to the door so he could trap everyone inside when Orochimaru's plan commenced. Suigetsu gave a small smirk at the thought; he really loved missions like that, he loved going undercover. The white-haired, nineteen year-old loved watching the reactions he got when everyone around him, trusted him, realized what he truly was; it made him feel powerful. He came from a poor country where clean water was impossible to find and his father beat him; Suigetsu relished for power since then, Orochimaru gave it to him.

Suigetsu tapped his fingers on his desk. He couldn't wait. Once Sakura came back to school everything would begin to unfold; Juugo, Karin, and him just had to remain unnoticed. Suigetsu had studied the targets files hard; he knew everything about them and how to make them avoid suspecting him. Suigetsu glanced up with his brown-contact covered eyes, he frowned. He certainly loved going undercover but hated having to act like a true student; he never did well with getting good grades. Suigetsu took a sip of water, there was no school where he was from; the only time he went to school was for missions. Suigetsu eyed a few teens whispering to each other and trying to contain their laughter…he never got to be a normal teenager.

Juugo sat calmly in the back of his classroom taking notes; he loved learning new things. Juugo never got to go to school due to his anger problems but with Orochimaru he learned to control it. Juugo glanced over at Karin, he could tell she was furiously unhappy. Karin wanted nothing more than to be in Sasuke's classroom but everyone knew she wouldn't be able to go undetected in his prescence. Juugo ran a hand through his black wig; he just really hoped no innocents got hurt during their mission.

Karin glanced up as she heard the class change bell ring; he was already tired of the whole school scenario. She knew all she needed to get by in the world and didn't care to learn anything more. She just wanted Sasuke. "Rima"

Karin's ears perked at her cover name and she glanced to her left where Juugo was. She gave a dull glance, "Yes Jun?"

Juugo slid a hand in his pocket, "I'm going to the bathroom."

Karin narrowed her eyes as he gave her a 'don't get in trouble look.' She knew what he really meant. He was going to walk through the halls to plant some devices Orochimaru gave him; she really couldn't wait for the plan. She would get the joy of watching Sakura suffer and then get to keep Sasuke all to herself. A small smile spread across her lips at the thought, she hid it with her brown wig. She didn't regret what did to Sakura in the slightest; she got to disable her which made torturing her so much easier. She just couldn't wait for the pinkette to come back to school.

_the next day_

Sakura sighed in boredom in the Uchiha mansion garden. Sasuke went back to school a couple hours ago and she had gotten used him being by her side nonstop the past few weeks. Her glanced at the casts all down her left side; it would a couple more weeks till she got to go back to school. Sakura needed to get her left arm functioning again so she could start using crutches. She gave a sad glance at her left leg; once her left arm was healed she would be able to start trying to walk again. The doctors said it was highly unlikely but she didn't want to give up. If she couldn't walk though…Sakura's eyes dulled. If she couldn't walk she wouldn't be able to be a useful doctor; she'd only get in the way at hospitals and be unable to treat emergency patients. The only way she could be useful is if she replaced her leg below the knee; Sakura cringed at the thought. The pinkette thought prosthetics were amazing and a wonderful invention…but the idea of losing her leg. Sakura shook her head; she didn't want to think about it. She put a determined face on. She was just going to have to make herself walk. She didn't care what it took; she was going to make herself walk again. "Sakura!"

The pinkette glanced over to find Mikoto walking towards her. The dark-haired beauty smiled, "I should've known you were in here. Do you want to have some lunch?"

Sakura shifted in her wheelchair, "Yeah, sounds great."

Mikoto's eyes softened as she lead Sakura's wheelchair back to the living room, "I thought we could eat while watching a movie. Just have a girls day."

Sakura gave a quick nod; she loved spending time with Mikoto. She knew Mikoto would never be able to replace her real mother but she was a mother to her nonetheless. Mikoto carefully helped Sakura out of her wheel chair and onto the couch. She sat beside her and pulled Sakura into a motherly hug, "I'm going to pamper you all day."

Sakura smiled as she leaned into Mikoto's chest and wrapped her arms around her, "Sounds perfect."

Mikoto ran a hand through Sakura's hair a couple times before letting her go. She found Sakura absolutely precious and couldn't wait till she married Sasuke. There were obviously no plans to do so yet but Mikoto could tell. The way Sasuke and Sakura loved each other made it very clear they'd be together for life; the only thing that could separate them was death. Mikoto's heart twisted a little at the thought while their lunch was served. Mikoto hated to think about it but a death threat was hanging over their heads; they were all in danger. Mikoto kept a clam smile on her face to keep Sakura in a good mood. She refused to let her loved ones face harm; she didn't care whom she had to strike down to keep them safe.

_in the city_

Orochimaru sighed as he took another sip of scotch; he really wanted to let Danzo know his plan but because of Karin he couldn't. Orochimaru's spies in the prison confirmed Danzo had been interrogated and that meant his targets at least suspected the threat. Orochimaru smirked thinking back to all crimes Danzo and him committed together; they were really unstoppable together. Orochimaru tapped a finger on his glass. That's why Orochimaru was so willing to go after a group of highly protected teenagers; not only did Danzo seek revenge on them but they locked up him to where Orochimaru couldn't conspire with him anymore. Danzo was probably the only person Orochimaru considered a friend and a group of measly teenagers put him away. Orochimaru was happy to act out his friend's revenge but it was also his own personal revenge he was eager to go through with.

Orochimaru blinked as his beeped a few times. He picked it up and gave a big smile; Juugo had already succeeded in installing a few devices across the school. Orochimaru's gold eyes shined with lust for blood, everything was going perfect. Orochimaru looked up at the bartender and licked his lips, "Another round of scotch."

The young woman gave a small smile and did so, "You usually don't come drinking her during the day."

Orochimaru took a big gulp and let the alcohol burn the back of his throat, "I'm celebrating."

Naruto hooked an arm around Sasuke's shoulders as they walked to lunch, "I'm so glad you're back at school Teme."

Sasuke gave a small nod. It was nice to be around all of his friends but he couldn't stop wondering how Sakura was at home. He shifted as he felt his phone vibrate and took it out of his pocket. He couldn't help but give a small smile at the picture of his mother lovingly wrapping her arms around Sakura and them both smiling at the camera. He lowered his eyes to his mother's message. I've got a close eye on her so don't worry and enjoy school! Love Mom! Sasuke's heart eased a little bit as he sat down to eat with his friends; she'd be alright. Sasuke knew his mother wouldn't let anyone touch a hair on Sakura's head.

Sasuke popped his head up as Ino gave him a small jab in the ribs. "So, how is my best friend?"

Sasuke ignored all the attention immediately placed on him, "Fine. She got the cast off her ribs and should have her left arm free in a couple weeks."

Hinata smiled, "I'm glad…Any news on her leg?"

Sasuke quietly took a bite of food as his body instinctively tensed, "No…but once her arm is free she'll be able start physical therapy with her leg and we'll no more."

A silent pause eased over the table. Naruto quickly gave Sasuke a pat on the back, "Don't worry guys, It's Sakura-chan we're talking about! There's no way in hell she'd give up on walking."

Smiles began spreading across the table. Sai gave a small smirk, "If I learned one thing about her over the years it's she likes to prove she can do anything people tell her she can't."

Naruto gave a big cheesy grin, "See! She's going to be perfectly fine."

Sasuke lips tilted up a little, "So…anything interesting happen while I was gone?"

Shino twirled his fork in his hand, "We got a few new students."

Sasuke's eyes narrowed, "When?"

Shino took a stab into his food, "Yesterday. One's in our class."

Kiba scratched his head, "Oh yeah, Ushio right? The guy never talks so you kind of forget about him."

Sasuke tapped his fingers, "Don't you think it's weird to have transfers so late in the year? We graduate in just over a month."

Chouji shrugged, "Yeah, but Sakura transferred almost just as late last year."

Sasuke head began churning with possibilities, "Shino what else do you know about them?"

Shino glanced over under his sunglasses, "Two others transferred into another class, our year. Seems like they're all siblings, making them triplets. The other two are called Rima and Jun."

Sasuke looked over at Sai, "Does that sound like something you're uncle would do?"

Everyone at the table immediately became tense and looked at Sai. Sai narrowed his dark eyes, "It depends…Usually someone like him would send someone to get personal with us, make us trust them. They've made no effort to socialize with us but it's only been a day. The only reason they wouldn't is if they know we know we're in danger."

Everyone remained quiet for a while. Shikamaru gave a lazy yawn and looked at them, "Just don't get close to them. Communicate with each other if they try to talk to you and keep an eye on them, just don't make it obvious you're doing it."

Shikamaru closed his eyes and leaned back in his chair, "Actually the best thing you could do is obliviously try to socialize with them; you'll learn more from their reactions that way."

Sai nodded, "It'd also make them believe we think there's no threat."

Sasuke nodded, "Alright, just wait a couple days to observe and we'll decide how to interact with them. Nobody tell Sakura, got it?"

Everyone agreed and nodded; there was no need to make Sakura more anxious. Sasuke gave a small glance around the cafeteria; he needed to keep his eyes open.

Karin bit her lip from the opposite side of the cafeteria. If I could just get closer! Suigetsu glanced at and frowned, "Don't even think about it."

Karin gave a pout to him, "I-I wasn't thinking anything!"

Juugo gave a small sigh, "Don't lie Rima, you need to stay away. You're the one he could recognize and besides…you'll get to have him. Just be patient."

Karin crossed her arms, "Damn right! Just you watch I'll execute the plan perfectly."

Suigetsu glared at her, "Keep your voice down. We can't cause attention especially when talking about such things."

Karin stuck her nose in the air, "Don't tell me what to do."

Suigetsu gave a harsh whisper, "If it keeps you in check I sure as hell will! Remember what'll happen to you if you screw up again."

Karin felt her heart tighten as she recalled Orochimaru pressing his gun to her head, "I know. I'm not stupid!"

Suigetsu rolled his eyes, "I'd beg to differ."

Karin glared and prepared to make a snarky remark but Juugo held up his hand. He gave a concerned look, "Let's save the bickering for later, please. We're not supposed to bring attention to us. I don't want to disappoint Orochimaru-sama."

Suigetsu's and Karin's anger subsided a little; they knew how much Orochimaru meant to Juugo. Karin sighed, "Alright, alright…"

Karin and Suigetsu made a brief, sad eye contact. They both cared for Juugo and knew how highly he held Orochimaru, despite all Orochimaru had done. It was hard to believe how someone with such a kind soul like Juugo's was involved in such vile things. Karin gave a small glance over at Sasuke and all his friends; Ino had cracked a joke and they were all laughing. That was the kind of environment Juugo deserved to be in.

_three days later_

Sakura ate the food on her fork and gave a small giggle, "And then what happened?"

Sasuke poured syrup on her pancakes, "Dobe was so hyped up on impressing Hinata he ran straight into the hurdle."

Sakura continued giggling over the story of Naruto in gym class the day before. She was starting to adjust to Sasuke being back at school while she was stuck in the mansion; Mikoto was great company after all. Sasuke carefully watched her smile; it always calmed him down. Today Naruto was going to make the effort to socialize with one of the new students and they were all anxious to see the results. Sakura still had no clue about the potentially dangerous students and Sasuke wanted to keep it that way unless danger was confirmed. He just couldn't bear to take that smile off her face, it was too beautiful. He continued watching her as she talked about her plan for the day between bites. Sasuke blinked as a bit of syrup smudged on her lips. Sakura glanced around the kitchen, "We're out of napkins."

Sasuke gave a small smirk and leaned over the table, "Allow me"

Sakura's eyes widened a little and he suddenly kissed her and licked the syrup off her bottom lip. Sakura's heart fluttered and pink dusted across her cheeks. She closed her eyes and lifted a hand to the back of his neck. He closely traced his lips over to her right cheekbone and pecked it; he slowly breathed in and leaned his forehead against hers. Sakura let her eyes flutter open and stare at his calm face, "You know one of our parents could have easily walked in."

Sasuke gave a small smirk, "Let them, they're all aware how much I love you." Sasuke gave a small laugh under his breath, "My mother would probably take a picture."

Sakura couldn't help but giggle at the thought as she slid her hand from the back of his neck to his cheek, "She probably would."

Sasuke gave a quiet, content sigh and looked into Sakura's warm, jade eyes, "I love you."

Sakura smiled and gave him a small kiss, "And I love you."

Sasuke leaned back and returned to sitting in his chair so they could finish breakfast; on cue Sakura's father came waltzing in with his empty coffee mug. Her father smiled at the two, "Morning kiddos"

Sakura tried not to roll her eyes at his intentional childish nickname, "Morning Dad"

Sasuke swallowed a bite of food, "Morning Sir"

Sakura smiled as her father walked over and kissed the top of her head. He glanced up at Sasuke, "Anything interesting happening at school?"

Everyone knew he meant in context to normal and dangerous things. Sasuke shook his head, "Just dissecting squids today."

Sakura's face rose in excitement, "Really? That's so cool!"

Sasuke couldn't help but give a secret, amused smile at his girlfriend; her love for medical knowledge gave her some interesting taste, "I'm more interested in watching Ino act like it'll cause her to burst into flames."

Sakura and her father quickly started laughing; they could already envision Ino screaming at the sight of a dead squid. Sasuke smiled along with their laughter. Sakura's father sighed and patted Sakura on the shoulder, "Well I'm going to go to work."

They exchanged goodbyes and soon Sasuke stood preparing to leave for school. He let a maid quietly slip by and clean the table as he wheeled Sakura in her wheelchair out of the kitchen. She gave a big smile as he scooped her up in his arms and gently placed her on the couch. She ran her fingers through his hair as he leaned in to give her a goodbye kiss, "Have a good day."

Sasuke gave her a soft kiss and looked in her eyes, "I'll see you soon."

She smiled in response and he walked out the door leaving no trace of worry in her thoughts, just as Sasuke hoped. For all he knew trying to engage with the new students could end terribly, but for the sake of seeing Sakura again he wouldn't let it. He was going to eliminate any danger put towards her.

_at school_

Ino tapped her foot anxiously as she leaned on her desk. The anxiety of what could happen that day kept her from sleeping and she ended up being the first one to class. Naruto trying to interact with the new students could change everything; or it could just be nothing. They really could just be new students but with all the danger going on it was doubtful. Ino's heart dropped as Suigetsu walked in the room and headed to his desk, she felt her skin crawl. Suigetsu's disguise as Ushio was perfect and it was impossible to tell he had a wig and fake contacts no matter how long Ino analyzed him. He just quietly sat in his seat with headphones in and continuously drinking from his water bottle; he came off to Ino like he was just someone that preferred to be alone. Ino's heart lifted as she saw Shikamaru and Chouji walk through the door; she instinctively stood. She immediately felt relieved with friends in the room. The rest of them soon came filing in and the environment seemed less tense.

Sasuke could tell upon walking in the Ino was visibly uncomfortable; he whispered to her as he slipped past her, "Breathe Ino, it'll be fine."

Ino opened her mouth to say something but stopped knowing they weren't supposed to speak of their plans out loud. She gathered her courage and put a smooth smile on her face and turned to Sasuke, "I hope you didn't leave Forehead feeling too lonely before you left."

Sasuke slightly applauded Ino in his head for being able to pull it together upon command, "You know I wouldn't. She's spending the day with my mother."

Ino sat in her seat, "Lucky. You're mom pampers her like crazy; mine just tells me what to do."

Sasuke gave her a small glance, "But she is still alive, Sakura's real mother is not."

Ino's heart sunk a little, "I know…I think it's great Sakura has your mom though."

Sasuke nodded in agreement, "Sakura's very happy when she's with her, despite all the embarrassment."

Ino tried not to laugh, "I remember last time they went out together your mom took her to a wedding dress shop."

Sasuke paused before giving an annoyed sigh, "Of course she did."

Ino gave a few giggles, "Sakura didn't tell you?"

Sasuke rubbed his forehead, "No, but I can imagine why."

Ino giggled some more as Kakashi opened the door, "Next thing you know Hinata and I will taken for bridesmaid dress shopping."

Sasuke ignored the comment as class began to start. He wouldn't deny a future plan to marry Sakura but he the idea of it happening so soon seemed a bit rushed. It was true the legal marrying age in Japan was sixteen but he wasn't even sure what university he would be going to in a few months. With the possible dangerous circumstances he wasn't even sure if they'd all live to graduation. With that thought he glanced back to who they called Ushio; the possible threat looked bored as could be and likely to fall asleep. It was true that he seemed like an ordinary high school student who wasn't interested in school but they couldn't be sure. Just because nothing had happened the past weeks the new students had been there didn't mean nothing would happen in the future. Sasuke turned his attention back to Kakashi; he'd just have to wait for Naruto to interact with Ushio so they could see.

_a couple hours later_

Sakura smiled as Mikoto ran a brush through her long rosette locks. Mikoto has spent the day pampering her, trying to make her feel as clean and comfortable as possible amidst all her bandages and cast. There were tight bandages around her ribs, left shoulder, left hip, and down her whole left leg. The cast covering her entire left leg below the knee still remained. Doctors wanted her to regain full mobility aside from her leg before she attempted to start walking again. In a week or so she would be able to start moving on crutches instead of her wheelchair, but she would have to take it slow. Mikoto set the brush down on a dresser and began running her hands through Sakura's hair, "There's so many different things I could try with your beautiful hair."

Sakura smiled in response, "I'd say the same to you but you're much better at this than me."

Mikoto gave a warm smile as she pulled a few strands from the side of Sakura's head, "Don't worry, I'll teach you. That way when you have a daughter you could do the same."

Sakura giggled as Mikoto began doing a French braid across the top of her head, "What if I don't have any daughters?"

Mikoto gave an amused grin, "Then when your sons get girlfriends you'll obsessively love and pamper on them like me."

Sakura giggled some more, "And I'm sure their grandmother will do the same."

Sakura widened her eyes and blushed realizing she just implied Mikoto would become her mother-in-law, "I mean…you know…that is…"

Mikoto's eyes softened, "There's no need to get embarrassed. I always joke about you two getting married now so young but there's no doubt in my mind that you two will get married some time in the future."

Sakura's blush deepened picturing the scene in her mind and gave a small nod. Mikoto smiled and pinned a small diamond flower clip into the French braid that acted as a headband in Sakura's hair, "And if you want you can wear this."

Sakura stared in awe at the detailed diamond flower in her hair, it looked like a cherry blossom. Her heart swelled, "I…I can't accept this."

Mikoto placed her hands on Sakura's shoulders and smiled at her in the mirrors reflection, "Of course you can. Even though Sasuke and you haven't married yet, you're already my daughter."

Sakura couldn't help but tear up a little at her words and smiled back at her in the mirror, "And you're already my mom."

_at school_

Naruto took a slow, deep breath as his class was dismissed for lunch; it was time. Naruto headed over to the new students desk as casually as he could and gave a big grin, "Yo!"

Suigetsu glanced up at him from the leaned back position in his chair. He paused a second, not expecting one of his targets to socialize with him, "Yo…"

Naruto made sure to maintain a friendly demeanor, "I'm Naruto, Nice to meet you!"

Suigetsu watched what seemed sincere happy behavior, "Ushio, nice to meet you."

Naruto pointed his thumb over his shoulder as his friends began filing out of the classroom, "You want to come get lunch with my friends and I? It'll be fun!"

Suigetsu's face didn't change but inside he was certainly stunned, making friends was certainly not part of the plan. Despite what was already planned he smirked thinking how fun it would be to make them trust him and tear the ground out from under them, "Sure, why not."
