Chapter 3: My Lotus Flower

Wy's POV

Elizabeta's fever wasn't going down. Her lips trembled from the cold, and beads of sweat where accumulating her forehead. Lilli and Kat would dip the cloth in water many times before putting it on her forehead. There was little they could do, they had no medicine and her fever was at a 102.

"I think we should take her to the hospital," Mei suggested. "If its something bad they'll know what to do." Lilli was biting her lower lip from the nerves. "If her fever hits 105 then we'll take her. The hospital won't do much if her fever is only at 102, they'll just be waiting like us."

Elizabeta was on the couch still as a statue. The girls where laying on the rug, while Lilli and Kat sat on a sofa. Feli and Michelle were watching t.v and the curtains where all closed. Wy got up from the floor and stood up to stretch. "I'm going to go outside for some air."

"It's getting dark out," Michelle pointed out. Wy sucked in some air and slowly let it out. "I'm going to go get some lotus flowers from Bella's yard." Michelle snorted, "like flowers are going to help Liz, just stay put. We don't know what's going on and we honestly don't need a dead body lying around." Lilli and Kat's eyes opened up wide in shock. Wy glared at Michelle "thanks I'll keep that in mind," she replied sarcastically. Wy face the girls, "How about one of you guys come with me."

Lilli and Kat both shook their head, they couldn't since they where taking care of Liz. Feli reminded everyone how she had Nyctophobia, everyone stared at her and decided to keep their mouths shut; even though Feli's seventeen and clearly past the age of being afraid of the dark everyone's scared of something. It was either Mei or Michelle, and Michelle doesn't seem to thrill to go into Lar's huge garden to get a flower and possibly run into a killer vampire like Liz. I made some puppy eyes at Mei and she grimaces a bit before agreeing in defeat. I drag her to the backdoor after Lilli gave us a lecture about being careful and to scream if we ran into something. Mei look like she was going to change her mind before I grabbed her and push her out the door.

I knew I could count on Mei to help me out, after all I've known her and Lien since kindergarden. Mei's been there for me on a lot of occasions, even going as far as to help me lie to my parents that I was spending time at her house while we where both at Nunzio's house party; whom I was in love with at the time. Our plan almost work until the cops showed up at Nunzio's house and arrested half of the party goers including us. We got to experience the criminal life for a whole day and night in a cruddy jail cell where I had to use the "five star" bathroom in front of everyone for them to see me puking half the night, while good ol' Mei grabbed my hair from touching my beer waste.

Mei gives me the scared look as we both turned on our flashlights as we looked at the enormous yard Bella and Lars had. I saw all the plants and trees that where there and some weird lawn ornaments that where clearly purchase at Walmart. I looked at Mei and we both silently agreed that this was 99.9% Lars crafty work, I mean no one else grows different color tulips and other weird species of flowers in their yard. Lars did have the green thumb between the two siblings, while Bella was the pastry chef.

We walked and search for the pond that had the flowers we where looking for. Mei was a few feet behind me when I hear her scream. I quickly turn around and I see her on the ground. "Are you okay?" I quickly rush to her side as I help her stand on her feet. "Yeah I'm okay," she answers back. "I tripped on something." I point the flashlight to where she fell and we noticed a creepy gnome on the floor. Mei shivers, "I'm pretty sure that was it."

"Ugh, look at the smile on that thing," I point at it. Its smile stretch from ear to ear.

Mei laughs, "look at its red boots and green pant's." She picks up the gnome and stands it on its feet. She pats hit little red hat that was on his head.

"I don't know whether to like it or hate it?" I tell Mei.

"Well I like it," she replies. "I wonder where Lars got it from? I'll ask him when he gets back, I'd like one in my yard."

"Let's go." I start walking and Mei quickly catches up. "Do you see the pond?" Mei shakes her head and we keep walking. We past some trees and we see the pool of water we where looking for. I hand Mei my flashlight as I grab onto a branch to get the flower carefully without falling in the deep pond. I grab the lotus and I glance over at Mei as she sighs in relief. Mei can't swim and the thing she fears the most is drowning. She can swim, but isn't very good at it. I was there when she nearly died if it wasn't for the life guard to get her from drowning in the ocean. We where both eleven and the lifeguard had to perform CPR before Mei was sent to the other side. I don't remember both of us crying as hard as we ever had in our entire lives, it was frightening. I can still tell that she worries about what's to happen to her or someone else every time we go where there's huge masses of water. So, we tend to stay clear of oceans and rivers unless Mei's wearing a lifejacket.

I see that Mei's a safe distance away from the pond with a worried look on her face. She signals me to hurry up, and I quickly let go of the branch and show her the flower. "You know the lotus flower means purification. The lotus purifies the spirit," Mei tells me. I nod, "I know, thats why there my favorite flower." She hands me back the flower and her eyes go wide in shock. "What is it?" I ask her. She points behind me and I look over my shoulder.

"Is that the creepy gnome we just past?" I looked at Mei, "either that thing walked over here, or Lars has more than one gnome that look alike."

"I'll go with the second option," Mei replies. She hands me back my flashlight as we both hear some rustling in the bushes. "Five dollars its a squirrel." Mei smirks, "ten its a rabbit." We both shake hands as my flashlight goes off. "Dang, my light's out of juice."

Mei points the light at the large bushes, "I'll be receiving my money in a bit." I laugh, "don't get ahead." Mei hands me her flashlight as I walk over to the bush. I hear a scream, and I look at Mei.

"Mei!" I yelled. "Will you shut up, your scaring me to death, you've already screamed twice!"

"Something bit me," she yelled back. I crook my eyebrows up, "okay…"

"I'm serious, something bit my ankle." I point the light at where Mei was standing and we see the gnome again. Mei looks at the lawn ornament and kicks it. "I change my mind, I hate that thing." Mei pulls at my wrist, "lets go, I want to go back inside." We both hear some more rustling in the bushes making Mei's hair stand up in fear. "I'll pay you the ten dollars let's just get the hell out of here."

I sigh, stretching my hand out. "Cough it up," I tell her.

"I'll give you the money when we get inside."

I shake my head, "you have your purse with you." She growls at me and digs in her purse for her wallet. She hands me a fresh Alexander Hamilton. I put the ten in my back pocket as we head towards the house.

"Hey, did you hear that." I ask Mei.

"No," she squeaks in fear.

The light goes out on our last flashlight and I thank the universe for the full moon, so I could see where I was going. Mei fished out her cellphone and used it for extra light. Mei was leading, so I was a few feet behind. I could still hear the rustling in the bushes, so I pick up a rock and throw it in the direction of the noise. It hit something with a 'thump' so I knew I hit my target. I also heard an 'ouch'. I see Mei already quite ahead not knowing that I stop. I shrug and let her go to the house, I already know my way back. Might as well look at the "thing" thats making all the noise. I walk towards the shrub and I notice a pair of icy blue eyes staring at me.

"What the-" I was caught off with a small rock hitting my forehead. I grumbled as I grab a long, sturdy stick and poke at the shrub. "Get out, you animal." I said under my breath. The "thing" grabbed my stick and broke it in half. I stepped back, the "thing" was a person. The guy jumped out, and stared at me straight in the eyes. The moonlight let me get a good look at guy. He looked nineteen at the least. He had a light shade of blonde hair, icy blue eyes, and white pale skin. What stood out to me the most was his eyebrows. They look like fuzzy caterpillars, I kind of wanted to touch them, I mean who wouldn't? I shake my head dismissing that idea; to put it as simple as possible the guy was hot. Guys with big eyebrows don't look that attractive, but on him he makes them look really good.

He must have caught me staring at him, "like what you see?" I opened my mouth only to shut it close. I didn't know what to say? "I'd take that as yes," he smirked.

I blush, "bye!"

I ran really fast to get away from him. Pushing branches out of my way and accidentally stomping on some tulips while crashing into Mei.

"What's your problem?" Mei screamed at me, "now whose the scary one!" Before I could answer the guy appeared. "I think I'd be the scary one," he answered. "Though I'm not to sure. Do I look scary," he ask Mei.

Mei opened her mouth in shock and quickly bombarded him with questions, "who are you? What are you doing here? Are you planning on robbing this house? You do know the neighbors are policemen? Did you know there are security cameras around this area if your planning on robbing? This is private property if you didn't know!"

He puts both of his hands up in surrender. "My name is Peter Kirkland. I'm not going to rob your house. I was walking or more like wandering here and there and I came across this really tiny man."

We both gave him the serious look. "Yeah right," I told him. "Mei call the cops." She began to type in 911 when he swipe her phone and threw it pretty far. "Sorry," he told Mei.

"No your not," she screamed.

"Anyway," he said, ignoring Mei completely. "He took my wallet and he's apparently in this yard or garden."

"How does he look like?" I asked him.

Mei shot me a look. "You can't be serious in believing him Wy."

Peter interrupted our little girl fight, and told us that the height of the man was up to his knees. Mei laugh, "you got robbed by a kid." Peter frowned, he told us that the guy had a white beard and he wore green pants, with a yellow coat, and red boots and hat.

I choke, "sounds like Lars' creepy lawn ornament."

Mei's eyes went wide, "Oh my God, the gnome was probably the one that bit me too." Peter gave Mei the weird look, "okay… do you know where this creepy gnome is? Cause I had two grand in my wallet." My eyes went wide and Mei sputtered, "two grand," she said.

All three of us heard something up the tree. "He owed me those two grand," the little man yelled. "The sucker doesn't know how to play poker and yet he bets money and loses!" Mei points at the man, "creepy gnome," she squeaks. "Who are you calling creepy, my name is Melvin," the gnome replied with sass.

"Can I at least have my wallet back," Peter asked Melvin.

"Nah," Melvin replied. "This wallet is genuine leather you paid me late, so this wallet pays the interest. Goes to show you got to stop betting before you start losing big time."

Peter huff in annoyance at the little man. "You wanna get out of that tree, so I can kick your ass!"

Melvin snorted as he lit a cuban cigar. "Last time, I was the one that whoop your sorry ass," he took a long drag of his cigar and puff out little rings of smoke into Peter's face.

"I was ten!" Peter shouted in defense. "I was a kid."

"Yeah a kid and still stupid back then." Melvin replied, smoking like a chimney. Melvin finally decides to acknowledge Mei and I. "If I was you two I'd run away from this "young" man right here."

Peter gives Melvin a stare that tells him to shut his mouth. Either Melvin didn't see it or he doesn't care.

"Peter did you tell these two beautiful fine young ladies what you are? After all, you did crash in there house," Melvin said, clearly enjoying himself at the moment.

"What does he mean," I ask Peter. I felt something sinking my stomach, and its telling me it isn't a good thing.

Melvin starts cackling and then coughing. He smirks at Peter and then goes back to his cigar.

"Do you believe in supernatural beings?"

"We do," Mei blurts out. "I mean look at him." Mei points at Melvin, "he's suppose to be a statue, but he's moving!"

Melvin glares at Mei, "I'm probably not the only thing that moves and talks, you should check your dolls as well. The dolls that all little girls play with at there tender age of childhood."

"What about biting?" Mei's voice dripping with acid. "If my dolls could move, I doubt they bite me."

Melvin laughs and drops his stub cigar from the tree. "Your legs where very fine indeed."

I make a face and Mei's expression is filled with disgust. "When I get my hands on you, I swear I'm going to burn your beard and break your little arms."

Melvin chuckles, "if you can catch me. You might however, want to focus your attention on him and not at me." Melvin said pointing to Peter, "after all, I don't drink blood."

Mei stop her ranting at Melvin and my face went white, "your a-a va-va-vamp—"

"Ooh. This should be good!" Melvin said, interrupting me as he rubbed his tiny hands together with excitement.

"Yes, I am," Peter said sadly, already knowing what I was going to say. "I died thirty years ago at the age of nineteen in an automobile accident. Geremia my adoptive father found me nearly at death's door, bleeding by a hedge. He couldn't save my mother and father they where already found dead." Peter's face was stone, he didn't cry or show any emotions. "That evil selfish gnome is my dad's 'lawn ornament'."

"Was," Melvin hiss. "Your dirt poor daddy's gone and ten feet under. If it wasn't for his death I'd probably be sold for money and having to start my work as a slave again!"

That set Peter off and his eyes where turning a blood red. I felt Mei digging her nails into my wrist in fear. Peter was hollering in rage as he grabbed the huge thick tree and pulled it from its roots. I notice Melvin holding on to the tree for dear life.

"Run!" I whisper to Mei. Mei pulls me as we both break in a run. The moon was covered by clouds and we couldn't see without any light. "Don't yell," I warn Mei. "He'll find us." I felt my stomach cramping as my hand started to get sweaty from holding Mei's hand as we both were running. I felt a strong arm wrapping around my stomach and I shriek in fear as he pulled me away from Mei's grip.

"Mei!" I screech, tears flowing down my cheeks.

He was running fast, jumping over the fence and houses as he carried me, I bit his ear and he hurled me hard across a tree. I landed hard on the ground gasping for air as I felt the taste of metal in my mouth. I spit the blood out, it wasn't mine but his. He grabbed my neck squeezing me hard, standing me on my feet. I was blind with tears and lack of oxygen. I dug my nails into his steel hands, hoping he would loosen his grip. He back me up into a tree.

"I feel hurt that you don't remember me," Peter whispered, as he loosened his grip a bit.

I took in a bit of sweet oxygen and glared at him with as much anger as I could. I scratch his right arm and kicked him hard in the stomach. He didn't twitch and slapped me hard in response as I fell on the cold ground.

I curled up in a ball and cried. "Just leave me alone," I sobbed. "I won't tell anyone what you did."

He crouch to where I was lying on the ground. His fangs where noticeable at my gaze, and his red eyes where filled with hate. He grabbed me roughly by my hair, and I had no choice but to stand up in pain.

"Don't you remember?" He hissed.

"No!" I sobbed.

"Let me refresh you stupid memory. End of Senior year, at Nunzio's house party after graduation."

"I don't know what your talking about," I wailed as he tug on my hair harder, pulling some strands from the roots.

"Don't act like an idiot," he screamed in my ear. "You kiss him!"

"Kiss who?" I didn't know who he was taking about. "Mei was with me the whole time." She wouldn't have left me out of sight? Would she?

"You kissed Romeo Vargas! The man I detest the most, you went as far as to make out with him in a corner, you slut!" He let go of my hair as he grabbed me by both of my wrists, squeezing them painfully. Forcing me to look at his killer eyes.

"I was drunk!" I protested, "I don't remember anything. I don't even know you!"

"I was in almost every single one of you damn senior classes. I was the new kid in your school, I sat across from you in English. I let you borrow one of my pencil's in Trigonometry. Helped you once in picking up the books you dropped in the hallway. I joined Art Club knowing you would be there and not once have you noticed I was there with you!"

"I'm so sorry," I blubbered. Snot was disgustingly hanging from my nose, my mascara was streaming down my face, and my hair was a painful bird's nest. I looked and felt like a wreck.

"Now your sorry," he yelled, baring his white fangs. "What's the worst is that I wrote you a letter on Valentine's Day. Explaining how much I loved you and cared for you. I left it in your desk asking you to meet me outside after school. I waited and waited 'till seven at night hoping you would show up, but you know what?" He laughed like a maniac for my response, but I didn't give him one. "You didn't even bother to drop by, or hell, even explain to me what you felt about me the next day at school! You went as though nothing ever happened."

"I d-d-didn't r-r-receive a letter," I stuttered.

"Don't fucking lie," he hiss.

"I went h-h-h-home e-early during third p-period. I w-was sick during Valentine's d-d-day. Romeo g-got me my h-homework and Valentine c-c-candies my f-friends got me," I cried, I felt weak and my brain was getting fuzzy.

"God I just want to die!" I was relishing the thought almost smiling, as I looked up at Peter. His face was shocked and he let go of my wrist as I feel on the sidewalk in my pool of blood. I closed my eyes and felt darkness as someone picked me up from the ground. I then heard blood curdling screams, and completely fainted. Letting darkness wrap me around his black cloak and letting me feel nothing, but lightness.

Peter's POV

"Kill me!" I screamed at Ludwig and Gilbert who where in front of me. "Kill me!"

"What the hell is your problem?" Gilbert ask.

Ludwig look scared, "vhat did you do?"

I flip over the dining room table and threw a lamp to the floor breaking it into millions of pieces. I threw a chair out the window making the glass shatter. Alfred and Ludwig quickly jumped on me trying to restrain me, pushing me to the floor like an animal before my temper got out of control. "Dude calm down. Its going to be okay," Alfred told me, trying to calm me down.

"No its not," I sobbed. "I killed her! I killed her!"

Alfred and Ludwig let me go as I knelt on the floor with my hands in my face. "Don't look at me," I screamed at them. "I said don't look at me!" Punching Alfred in the face, knocking his glasses off as he crashed into a wall. I didn't feel sorry and I started to laugh. I found it sickly humerous, "that's what you get for stinking up the place of hamburgers." Laughing like a hyena, I saw Gilbert tense up. "You want me to beat you up too you freakin' albino or how 'bout you ya Nazi?" I said glaring at Ludwig.

In the corner of my eye I saw Berwald with a metal stick in his hands. I didn't react fast enough and I felt a smash to my skull. I slumped to the floor and black out.

Gilbert's POV

I walked up to Peter, ready to raise my fist to smash him to bits, when Ludwig caught my hand.

"Let me beat the shit out of him," I snarled. "I want him in a wheelchair."

"Don't," Ludwig hiss. "He isn't normal, something happened."

"No shit sherlock," yanking my arm out of Ludwig's grip. "Look what he did." Emphasizing on the mess he did in the living room and window. "How are we going to explain this Roma and Geremia?"

"We won't," Ludwig mumbled not looking at me in the eye. I looked at Berwald if he agreed, and he shook his head. We couldn't tell our parents what happened.

I glance at Kiku who was helping Alfred get up. Alfred was making faces as he desperately tried to heal himself. I looked down at Peter, his head was busted open but he was alive. Arthur was carefully inspecting Peter's injury as he told Antonio and Vash to take him to his room carefully.

Wang got Alfred his glasses, "Peter gone crazy aru."

Matthew silently agreed.

"Let's clean up," Ludwig told us.

I sighed as I flipped the table over. If Peter did kill someone he'd be gutted and killed by the council. My parents wouldn't have enough power to stop his sentencing if they found out. Peter was doomed, and I couldn't do anything about it.

"So much for being the happiest day of my life."

I just wanted to post another chapter because who knows when I'll get to post another one. I'm taking summer school because I want to take an extra class in the school year that isn't math. So I'll be very busy this summer.

But thank you very much for reading and please review, I'd like to hear some feedback on my writing and on how you like the story. Suggestions are welcomed so if you have any just ask.
