Lisanna Strauss hadn't been able to sleep a wink since Natsu strommed out of her house that Saturday night. She told herself not to cry even though realizing that Natsu didn't feel the same way she felt about him. She was so assured that he would be overjoyed at their parents sighed to herself as she picked up her phone, no calls, texts, voicemails. Nothing. It was killing her inside. Someone was knocking on her door. She open the door to find her sister holding a box of chocolates and a tub of ice cream.
"Your favorites." she said holding them out to her with a weak smile. Lisanna needed some company, not her parents or her overbearing brother, her sister who understood her the most. Lisanna let her in her room. They sat down on her bed and looked at each other for a minute in silence as if they understood each other with their eyes. The two Strauss sisters have always been like this from the beginning. They would gang up on Elfman or play dress up together at a young age. It was nice to have someone who understood you. Mirajane loved her sister deeply and wanted to bang Natsu head in for leaving her.
"Lisanna." Mirajane started but Lisanna cut her off saying. "No talking let's just eat OK." Mirajane nodded and complied with her sister's request. She picked up a chocolate and bite in to it let it juicy filling run on to her taste buds. Whenever she or sister was depressed they would alway eat chocolate and ice cream, it was their safe haven where they could forget their problems and just binge on sweets. Anyone else would feel uncomfortable with this silence but Lisana and Mirajane enjoyed it. Lisanna let out a little sigh and then turned to her sister. Mira raised any eyebrow.
Suddenly her sister broke down in tears startling Mira.
"Lisanna." she said pulling her sister in for a hug and stroked her milky white hair. "It's ok."
"No it not ok, I think… I think I loved him." her sister replied.
"I thought so too when Laxus broke up with me."
"But that different he actually sat down and ended things, Natsu just ran out on me. We don't know if anything happened to him, he could be hurt or worse dead for all I know and I don't think I could stomach those thoughts." Lisanna cried. Mira felt her heart tug her sister really fell hard for this guy didn't she.
"Natsu might not remember but we met before at a party and that when I first fell for him. I was 5 years old and didn't know what love was but I was sure I loved him." Lisanna continued. Mira didn't know what to say but she just stroked her hair and rocked her in her arm. Lisanna pulled out of her sister's arm and looked intensely into her sister warm and loving eyes. Those were the eyes that comforted her the most when ever she was down. Her mother thought it was unladylike to feel pain for small mother was one of those cold aristocratic type. She remembered hugging her tearfully sister at her grandfather funeral, she didn't remember her mother crying at all,but in the nights in the parents study she heard small muffled cries she was sure was her mother. She was young at the time and didn't understand why her mother didn't cry at the funeral, but in life it dawned on her that her mother put on a mask to keep her real emotions hidden, so everyone thought she was strong person. Lisanna never wanted to end up like that so, she wore her heart on her sleeve.
Lisanna wiped the tear for her eyes, her cheek was hot and sticky from crying so much. She felt a lot better that she had cried some of her repressed feeling out.
She blushed, she didn't what overcame her but she bursted out in giggles.
"I probably look a hot mess right now." She said looking at he sister was startled at her sudden change of mood.
"I'm not gonna lie you do look a hot mess you eyes are all puffy and red." Mira said laughing too.
"I'm shouldn't be laughing right now."
"No it OK if you laugh I just want you smiled a little. Laughing is the best healing product."
"Mira and Lisanna please come downstairs." Their said from the other side of the door.
Lisanna frowned, she better get herself clean up, her mother hates self-pity. Mira looked at her sister's expression and understood. "I'll go out first." She said standing up. Lisanna merely nodded.
Lisanna looked at herself reflection of the mirror of her private bathroom, Mira wasn't exaggerating when she said she looked terrible. Bags and creeped under her eyes from a lack of sleep and her crying a river did help at all. Lisanna thought her face looked saggy and worn out from stress. On top of that was her messy hair that was all stringy and matted. Looking at what she had becoming Lisanna exhaled. Never ever in her life had she felt so much weight on her heart. She yearned to be close to Natsu, to see his beautiful smile. His scent always intoxicated her. It was until after her left that it finally dawned on her she loved him so much more than she thought she had. He was necessity like air and water. No he was more like an addiction and she was the junkie.
" Snap out of it Lisanna this is the guy who ran off on you." She said to herself as she slapped her cheeks.
When Lisanna finally got downstairs she could hear a faint voice , they whispered as if it was something secretive.
"Maybe we should just call the whole thing off." Her father said.
"No unfortunately Lisanna has form some sort of unhealthy attachment to the boy." Her mother replied.
"But he run stormed out like a mad bull when we gave them the news."
"Well maybe he was scared when your parents told you weren't you scared too." Her mother shot back.
"Yes …..Well… You see….Fine,Fine have it your way but he better prove to me he deserves my daughter." Her father said giving up.
Lisanna felt like it was time for he to walk in, everyone looked at as she practically dragged her feet across the carpet.
"Lisanna dear what have I told you about your…." Her mother reprimanded.
"Not now Lucinda." Her father said in a stern voice cutting her off. Her mother huffed.
"Lisanna dear are you ok." Her father said changer his voice to a kind nurturing one.
"Yes daddy I'm feeling like myself again." Lisanna lied. Her father did look to sure but before her could open his mouth she continued. "When I be able to see Natsu again ?" SHe asked genuinely.
"Well…...Ummmm….You….See…" Kain Struss felt nervous under the intense gaze his youngest gave him. He really did know the answer.
"It ok daddy you don't have to answered right now."
"Well we didn't call you down to discuss the Dragneel boy it as something else. " Her mother said. Lisanna was a little scared by sudden the serious atmosphere that engulf the room
Just as Lisanna's thought were filled with a certain pink haired fellow so was Lucy's as she stood by a busy coffee shop waiting for date to come. She idely played with her fingers and looked at her clock a million times. Why was she so anxious? It was confusing her brain told her one thing while her heart said no. She felt as though there was an angel and a demon sitting on her shoulders one saying that she should tell Natsu the other telling her to keep her mouth shut and enjoyed the peace. Lucy was so entranced in her conflicting mind that she didn't notice Natsu until her grab from behind and place his head on her shoulders.
"What you think abou Luce?" he asked. Lucy bit her lips what to say, what to say.
"I was think about what we should do first." She answered making her feel guilty.
"Well I saw a fortune teller over there." Natsu said grabbing her hand and pulling her toward a darkly lit dusty shop. There was a sign that said Mrs. Mystica Fortunes and Magic. Lucy rolled her eyes as she read the sign.
"Fraud." She thought as Natsu pulled open the door making a bell ring.
"I'm in the back." said a crackly voice. Natsu lead Lucy to the back were a elderly woman was sitting down. had big purple shawl wrapped around her head and huge pair of glasses hanging off her face.
"How may I help you?" she asked in a dry voice. Her eery gray eyes gave Natsu and Lucy the creeps but Natsu answered her saying. "We want our fortune please."
"Ok sit down." They obeyed her command. Her eyes flick back and forth between the both of them as if she reading them, a smile creeped across her face. "Ahhhhh young lovers." Her comment Lucy blush and Natsu shift slightly in his chair.
'"Well shall we begin." Both Natsu and Lucy nodded in agreement.
"For the two of you secrets with you unbecoming as will an unseen force. Happy endings will be uncertain, unless love can prevail." As she spoke Lucy as darted to Natsu, she felt a rumbling in her stomachs. Secrets was that directed to her.
"Stop looking like I was just joking. You're really fortune is this you'll live happily ever after and boy be sure to keep close to her unless you want to lose her." Her second fortune did seem so convincing to Lucy but seem to be enough for Nastu because he smiled at the lady and handed her twenty bucks.
"Thanks." he said oddly cheerily. He quickly pulled Lucy to feet and dragged her outside pulling her through the crowded sidewalk not loosening his tight grip around her wrist even a little, but Lucy didn't mind her thought were still caught up with what the old wrinkle bag had said. Secrets. Why did the world have to make everything so complicated.
"N-Natsu." Lucy finally spoke. Natsu turned around giving Lucy a puzzled look.
"What is Luce?" he asked.
"W-wwelll umm you seee." Lucy stumbled trying to get the right words to say.
"Oh am I hold your wrist to tight." he said dropping her hand.
"Noo not that Natsu I…." but she didn't finish when a police office stepped up to them.
"Could you kids come with me for a second?" He said in a stern voice.
"Sure no problem officer." Natsu said. The office nodded and turned around. Lucy looked at Natsu. Clearly something was not right here. What did the police want with them?
Natsu was trying to look unaffected by the sudden visit of the officer. He knew he time was short and that they would find him in no time but not so soon. This might be the first and last date he'll have with Lucy and didn't even get to tell her. To be honest he was scared to death when the old woman started talking secrets. He was harboring a mother load a secret from Lucy. He mind was whizzing when he was pulling Lucy through the sidewalk crowds. Everytime he thought about that night and how much it would hurt Lucy, he unknowingly gripped her wrist tighter.
The gods must hate him because nothing was going right at all.
"You two stay here." the office said as he walked away. Leaving the two teenagers in a the waiting room of the police station. Lucy shot a worried look that mad he want to melt. "Everything is going to be fine Luce." Natsu said trying to assure but not convincing himself. It wasn't even a good 10 minutes before the very last people Natsu wanted to see arrived at the station. Natsu sucked in his breath and looked at Lucy who was confused.
"Natsu." His little sister said running to him and giving him a hug. "I was so scared you would never come home." Natsu just ruffled her hair in reply.
"Lucy what are you doing here?" Mrs. Dragneel asked.
"Ummmmm." was all Lucy could say. If Natsu parents were here where was her's.
"Never mind that Grandeeney we've found Natsu." Natsu cringed at the sound of his father voice. Lucy was fully lost why in the world was Natsu's family talking like they hadn't seen him in days.
"Well I'll go sign you two out and we can take Lucy home." Mr. Dragneel said with a smile that made Natsu's inside turn.
"Nastu you had not only us but the Strauss worried to death." His mother said. Natsu was praying to the every god in heaven that his family doesn't mention the marriage thing because this would be a terrible way for Lucy to find out.
"I'm sorry mom I never do it again."Natsu said. His mother gave him a weak smile before pulling him in for a big hug.
"Ok everyone ready to go." His father said clapping his hands. Natsu had a headache and this situation wasn't making it any better.
"Lucy guess what Nat….." Wendy began cheerily as they walked to the car but stop when her mother bumped her arm and shook her head no. Natsu was on edge. The car ride felt long and awkward no said a word but he and Lucy caught eyes many times. When they finally reached Lucy house, everyone said a quick goodbye and then they drove off. Natsu expected for his parents to yell at him after they dropped off Lucy but it never came oddly enough. Again there was awkward silence. When they got home Wendy and his mother left first. Natsu slowly got out the car. His father didn't even look his way.
"Dad." Natsu finally said.
"Don't say a word." He replied and Natsu kept silence. "Natsu you're going to be head of the business one day whether you like it or not. So think long and hard about where your life is going because all the weight and pressure is soon gonna fall on you and if you better shape up. You gonna be a man soon and will have no time for your little flings. I'm not gonna tell you what to do but I'll leave that up to you because you know what the right decision is." And with that Natsu father walked pass and into the house with a smile on his face. He was going to have to do something about that Heartfilia girl. Even though he said he would leave it up to him in no way was he going to let that fall into a emotional teenage's hands. His son relationship with Lucy Heartfilia will come to an end.
