Golden Rays of Light

Chapter 7: Is That Even Possible?

How long had it been since it all started? Days? Weeks? An eternity? It was hard to say, but it felt very long indeed. The guardians had made sure to train and work hard, keeping up the spirits and staying positive. The calm before the storm was still there, but the dark thick clouds of doom were brewing swiftly over the landscape. Several more attacks had ripped through the world from London to California. The devastation and destruction had been wide spread and very great. The guardians had been able to push back and defeat the threats when they arrose, but even they needed some rest. It felt as if Amaya and Pitch were hitting them in a row to wear them down and wound their pride to make it easier to win.

Already, the constant wear and tear was making its self perfectly known to the group of guardians. The only two guardians that seemed to be perfectly normals, were Delilah and Valleria. Due to their kind of protecting, they were more use and suited to handling all the tough shots thrown their way by the dark side. On this new day though, everyone was to go about their normal lives for a short kind of break from wracking their brains. Sandy was heading off to sleep for the night to come while Toothy headed back to give further instructions to her tooth-fairies in training. Christmas toys were in need of being wrapped and eggs needed to be dyed and decorated. There were even a few snow days in the schedule for a near by town as Winter began to strike harshly.

Since Valleria had many races to attend at various schools, Jack decided to follow suit after his snow days. He had been very curious for a while just what she did. He understood what she did, but to actually get to watch her in actions was more than a little bit exciting. They were en route to a quiet little town in the southern part of Mexico. The day was meant to be an exciting type of festival where the children would build their own bull to race with, decorating it however they liked. Attaching a string each child would run for the race dragging their bull behind them and whichever bull crossed first was the winner. The whole thing had been very impressive to Jack and he was happy that she had allowed him to tag along.

Across the world, Delilah had set off to check in on a few children she cherished and held close to her heart. Little did she know that she was being followed by a very stealthy, curious bunny. Bunnymund knew he should be back in the burrow helping with the eggs and taking charge and command, but he just couldn't help it! As he snuck after Delilah, his ears twitched at every little sound, his heart thumping rapidly in his chest from the fear of being possibly caught. Each step further brought him that much closer to understanding her a bit better. As she came to a house and stopped, his body froze, his tail twitching as though doing a crazy dance of anticipation. His face was set as he paid close attention as Delilah approached the napping girl upon the soft grass of the back yard. She crouched beside the child, her soft fingers tracing over the little ones pale face and weaving through the soft chestnut locks of hair.

" What a beautiful daydream Angie..." she leaned over, her lips pressing against the little girls forehead before whispering " Never loose sight of it."

Her voice was soft, calming to the ear and to the soul. Bunnymund felt absolutely floored to the spot to hear such a beautiful voice. He had only heard her speak so few of words, but to see how compassionate and loving she was to the children...ah it melted his heart to the core. He already knew she was sent here to be an angel to the children and adults that still needed her... and it radiated off her in brilliant rays of light. He was suddenly amazed by her, stepping slightly from the bushes he was hiding in. He had been so amazed and shocked by what he saw, he never realized until he heard Delilah squeal and rush towards him. He came to himself very quickly though as he felt himself picked up. Picked up? He was suppose to be a GIANT bunny that was intimidating! He was stunned, his eyes large and confused as she leaned forwards and nuzzled her face against his soft fur with a chuckle. It was then that Bunnymund realized he was TINY! He had somehow made himself as small as a real bunny.

He felt embarrassment automatically seeped throughout his entire body as his ears slowly flopped over. Delilah slightly pulled back, her bright eyes staring directly at him before she gave him a bright, happy smile. He stared, his mouth slightly falling open as his little nose twitched. He was so... shocked to see such a smile on her that before he knew it he hopped onto her shoulder and snuggled against her happily. He had no idea what came over him, but he chose to stay like this just a little bit longer since it made him feel as though he could fly through the clouds. He further rejoiced as he felt one of Delilah's hands reach up to stroke along his body, petting him tenderly. Each sweep of her fingers along his fur, sent chills throughout him from how delicately she was treating him. He nearly died from enjoyment though as her voice filtered to his ears, which stood straight up.

" Hehe... I really like you Bunnymund... " She said shyly.

" W.. Well I... really like you to Delilah... " He managed to mumble out to her.

Their sweet, tender moment would not last for very long before a fireball would crash into the ground beside them. Delilah soon had a somewhat scary look upon her features as she tossed Bunnymund into the bushes and turned to face a monstrosity. Before her stood someone she had not seen in quite a long time. Before her was a demon that helped patrol the outer realms of Hell. She knew he had to be working with Amaya to even be let out of his imprisonment. The demon stood well over sever feet tall with glowing orange eyes. His long black hair fell about him, contrasting with the glint of white fangs. with a smirk, his deep voice flowed out.

" Well well little daydreamer... it has been some times since I last saw you... Not since you and your blasted sister banished me to the depths of Hell as punishment!" His eyes were saturated with anger.

" What do you want Daemon?" She asked tersely, on high alert.

" For my revenge... I have a lock on every child you consider close... if you don't come with me then with a snap of my fingers they... ALL...DIE!" He chuckled, laughing merrily.

"...Alright... "

Delilah would risk many things, but she would never risk the lives of any children or other innocent person because of herself. She stepped towards Daemon as he gripped her wrists tightly. Blood began to seep from her wrists as tight chains linked around her, securing her as his prisoner. He had his orders from the top to take her into Hell and lock her there. Without Delilah, they guardians would be further weakened and the sooner the dark won, the sooner he would be free. It was a brilliant thoughts as he vanished in flames, taking Delilah with him willingly.

From where he was thrown, Bunnymund was floored. He had no idea why she just went so... willingly like a lamb to be sacrificed! He stopped though and heaved a small sigh, knowing she loved the children and would rather he life be at stake instead of them all. For now though, he was all a panic in what he should do. He had to get back to North as soon as possible, but in his current state he couldn't get the tunnel to work properly. As he was running around in a circle trying to think at the same time, he was rooted to the spot as a bright white light came before him that was at least eight feet tall. His eyes widened almost comically as his ears fall back and his fur poofed out all along his body.

The blinding light before him shifted and changed into a tall, stunning woman. She held an almost unearthly feel to her, as though she were some kind of holy, celestial being. Her eyes were a bright blue-silver in color that contrasted with her alabaster like skin that was as smooth as glass. Her long white hair fell to the ground in silken layers. She wore robes of pristine white, accented with silvers and blues that trailed along the hems. She stood tall and proud, regal almost as she approached the bunny and lifted him up within her arms. She gave Bunnymund a calming smile before speaking in a low, bell like voice.

" Come Bunnymund... we must let the others know what has happened with Delilah and contact the Man in the Moon."

With her words hardly leaving her lips for very long, Bunnymund was startled as they just vanished into nothingness. In Bunnymund's opinion, it was like taking a stroll through the void, where there was literally nothing but blackness. silence surrounded him and gave him a bit of the creeps. He had never been so happy to see the North Pole in all his life! He was still held in the woman's arms as she floated into the main room, getting North's attention. His blue eyes widened and his mouth fell open at the strange woman. Once he noticed Bunnymund though he chuckled, holding his belly from his deep laughter.

" What's this Bunnymund? You are so teeny tiny... " he laughed more.

" North, you need to call all the Guardians here at once!" The mystery woman spoke.

North jumped as he was addressed by the woman he was sure he had never met before. Seeing the seriousness in both her and Bunnymund's face, he knew something was up. Getting to work, he sent out the signal for all the guardians. He found himself moving to sit nervously, eying the woman that finally placed Bunnymund down upon the table. He hopped over, beginning to pace back and forth in his own little world. It would not take long for the guardians to start arriving. Toothy was first, followed by a very sleepy looking Sandy. The last two to arrive, were Jack and Valleria who had a farther distance to travel Everyone was confused by the strange woman, but Valleria paled and moved, bowing slightly to the woman.

" Zacartha.." She muttered as she felt the woman's hand rest on her head.

" Hello again Valleria... Now then... I have come to tell you some important news." Zacartha was quiet for a moment before speaking again, " Daemn has taken Delilah to the pits of Hell to lock her there until the war finishes. We took note and came in person to let you know. Valleria... you must lead the others there and rescue her if you have any hope at all to finish this war... "

" Daemon... How did he escape his prison?" Valleria asked, standing from where she had been crouched.

" Amaya released him for the moment... with the promise to be free forever once winning against the light. Now.. I must return and hold counsil with the Man in the Moon. We are watching and will help when we can. Until then my young one, be safe and remember, the council of Celestials are always watching."

With that Zacartha once more vanished until there was nothing left where she was standing. She left behind many different faces. North looked shocked to the point of silence. Toothy just fluttered in place, her mouth slightly hanging open. Jack just looked surprised, seeming stunned yet awed. Sandy looked about ready to blow up the entire world from fright and anger. Bunnymund, by this point, took all he could and in his fit of rage turned back into his big size. He jumped from the table, pulling his boomerang close as his eyes burned with fury.

" Let's do this... I won't let them do anything to hurt Delilah!" Bunnymund called out.

" # * $ % * $ # # $ % $ " Symbols flew rapid fire from Sandy to Bunnymund.

" Because... I care about Delilah and I want to be with her... that's why!" Bunnymund for once understood Sandy crystal clear.

" Is... that even possible?" Jack muttered in shock.

It was then the other guardians were trying to picture a giant rabbit and Delilah together. A few busted out laughing, while Sandy fumed even harder, pointing to Bunnymund before smacking his own fist into his own hand, showing he was ticked. Valleria smile and chuckled, moving to pat Bunnymund on the shoulder. She the cleared her throat and straightened, whistling as her two hounds came to her side.

" I am sure she feels the same Bunnymund. Now then... we are going into terrain with Demons... It won't be easy, and it definitely will not be a pretty sight, but I am certain we will come out victorious. Move out!"

It was then the the tides of the battle were turned in huge favor for the dark. The guardians left the world behind, heading into the darkest deapths of Hell to face terrors only one of them knew and understood. Just what would the outcome be? Would Delilah truly be safe and sound? Would they have killed her just to spite? Too many questions swirled around in their minds as they onward sped, racing against time itself it seemed to get there and get things settled.
