KPOV-
I love all of my kids the same, but Grace is definitely the sweetest.
I set the stuffed animal back on the bed, turning off the light in the hotel room before going to meet Sugar in the lobby.
''How'd you sleep,'' I smile, helping her stand before we leave for our appointment.
She looks exhausted, no matter how nicely she's dressed.
''Not well. I woke up feeling nauseated,'' Sugar admits, letting out a yawn ,''But it passed.''
''Well, this is our last day. We'll be on a flight tonight,'' I remind her.
''I can finally go see my kids. And Rory, of course,'' she quickly adds in ,''I didn't realize how hard it would be being this far from them.''
''Being away from the kids is never easy, and neither is being so far from anyone you love. But it'll get a little easier. Especially when they're older,'' I insist, opening the door for her.
''I sure hope so,'' she sighs ,''I'm so tired already. Honestly, right now, two is enough.''
''I know what you mean,'' I laugh ,''Raising four kids is a handful.''
Yet we're so ready to adopt more in a few years.
''Do you like it? Being a parent, I mean?''
''I love it. Don't get me wrong, some days are harder than I can explain. But it's all worth it. I've seen the wonderful people that Rory and Blair grew into. And Liam is getting excellent grades, and wants to go to Columbia for journalism. Jade is involved in everything at school, from tech for the school play to helping others. Jacob is so helpful around the house, and at school, and he's so energetic. It keeps us on our toes, definitely, but we love it. And Grace… Grace is so loving and sweet. So, yeah, I love it.''
''Thank you. I mean, Rory and I look up to you two as far as parenting goes. Because you and Blaine have taught us a lot. I'm definitely not ready for more kids, but it'll happen when it happens,'' she shrugs ,''We want another child, just not now. I know I'm not ready, and Rory accepts that.''
''It definitely is something that the two of you will have to discuss,'' I nod as we reach the venue, opening the door ,''And, no matter what you two decide, Blaine and I are here for you.''
Just because your kid grows up doesn't mean you stop caring just as much. It just means you let them live, learn, fall, and get up on their own, offering help when they need it.
''I know. And you've been there for me for a long time,'' Sugar grins ,''You've helped me with my career, and now I'm doing what I love.''
''Well, what can I say. It's my duty to pass my wisdom on to the next generation of fashion geniuses. And I believe you'll be able to help me with my new interns. You have as much to teach as you do to learn. Never forget that.''
After all, life is always going to be a learning experience in some way. Sometimes it's learning academically. Sometimes it's learning to love, learning to trust, again. And sometimes, and definitely in my case at the moment, it's learning to see the world like your child does. It's realizing how magnificent, and unfortunately fleeting, life genuinely is.
Lucky for me, I get to live my life with the most amazing people: my family and friends.
To me, that's what it's all about.

''There you go,'' Blair presses the pack of frozen peas to Liam's eye ,''This should take down the swelling.''
''Thanks,'' he sighs ,''It doesn't look too bad, right?''
''Not as bad as it looked when I picked you up from school,'' I admit, wincing ,''Now, are you gonna tell me what happened?''
''This guy from my class was messing with Jade. Calling her names. I know that Jade can take care of herself. That doesn't mean I won't help.''
''I get that. When I was in high school, I got into my fair share of fights. Sometimes over the disgusting things people would say about dad and Blaine, sometimes for them messing with Blair, and sometimes because I couldn't take it anymore. It's a good thing you didn't get in trouble, but you have got to talk to Blaine or Kurt if this gets worse. Alright? Otherwise, it'll become too much for you to handle. And I'm always here if you need to talk.''
''So am I,'' Blair reminds our brother.
We both know what it's like to keep it in until you break. And we're not going to let our little brothers and sisters deal with that.
''Thanks. It means a lot, guys.''
''You do realize you're going to have to tell them why you walked in with a black eye, right?''
''I know. I figured I could just save it for tomorrow, and tell them when Kurt gets back. You know, that way I could save everyone the drama from telling them separately,'' Liam puts the bag down, letting Blair look at his eye.
''Just tell Blaine that it was a fight at school, and I'm sure he'll understand the reasons,'' I shrug ,''Come on. Go tell him.''
''I guess you're right,'' Liam groans, ''Here. I'm gonna go tell him.''
He leaves, and Blair turns to me with a slight smile.
''He is a lot like you,'' she states, moving around the kitchen to get dinner ready.
''How so?''
''I can't count the number of times that you have been there for me, especially concerning bullies,'' she grabs a pot ,''And especially during the times when I couldn't talk to anyone else.''
''You're my sister, Blair. What was I supposed to do,'' I insist, pulling down the box of pasta.
''You liiiike me,'' Blair sings.
''Shut up,'' I gently push her, ''It's a good thing we're related.''
Honestly, sometimes having a sister my age sucked. She kept the bathroom occupied getting ready, and sometimes would get upset with me for no valid reason.
But having someone who gets a lot of the things that I have had to deal with- people saying horrible things about our dads, bullies, and losing our parents at a young age- turned out to be one of the best things ever.
''So… how have you been,'' I question, and she knows exactly what I mean without me having to directly mention it.
''Ryder and I are getting married, and my son is a toddler who likes to test my patience, and his curiosity, by getting into everything. My NYADA dance class and vocal class are intense, and I'm getting thirty kids ready for a winter dance recital. The stress is overwhelming. If something has to give, it'll have to be the wedding. We can postpone it or something. But I'm finding better ways to manage my stress and insecurities. I don't need you and dad and Kurt to keep worrying. I promise.''
I know you don't. We all do.
''We're family, Blair. We will always worry about each other. I just need to know that you're doing better,'' I insist, putting the pasta in as soon as the water boils.
''I know. I didn't mean it to sound harsh. But I'm okay. Some days are better than others, and some days I can't stand looking in the mirror, but I'm in a much better place than I was. Alright?''
''Good,'' I smile, going to put the pasta away.
''You can't keep doing that, by the way,'' she doesn't look up from the onion she's cutting ,''We're a lot alike, in that way: Blaming ourselves for any and everything that goes wrong.''
''I'm not following,'' I honestly admit.
''We're both the kind of people that hold things in, and we'll keep holding them in until we can't handle them anymore. Until we break. I just want you to know that, if you need to talk to someone, I'm always here for you,'' she reminds me.
''I know,'' I wrap an arm around her shoulder ,''And I'm here for you.''
Sometimes life is too hard to make it on your own.
Some people may think it's weird that Ryan and I have kept contact, thinking it odd that I'm friends with my former bully. But, just like Jordan needed Blair, he needs me. And if I have learned one thing from dad and Blaine, it's you try to help others whenever you can.
''Come on. Help me get dinner done so that you can go pick the twins up from Sugar's mom,'' she continues.
I hope Wendy and Finn have the same brother and sister relationship I have with Blair. Because, in a way, she's one of my best friends. From building pillow forts, to the occasional argument, to offering a shoulder to lean on.
After everything is said and done, my family is the most important thing to me.
With all of the changes that are sure to come our way, that is one thing I know will never change.
BPOV-
''This movie sucks,'' Liam whispers.
''Be nice,'' I stifle my laughter, watching the two youngest absorbed in the television.
''But he's right,'' Blair whispers as she brushes Jade's hair.
''After they go to sleep, we can watch whatever.''
Blair will be spending the night tonight, as Noah is with his grandma, and Ryder is busy at a wedding.
''Blaine,'' Jade looks up as Blair ties her hair back for her ,''Can I go shopping with Blair?''
''If this is about the shirt you want, the answer is still no. Kurt and I agreed when you're fifteen.''
''How about a compromise,'' Blair shrugs ,''she can wear it over a tank top. That's what I did.''
''Please? All of the other girls do that.''
''Fine. That sound slike a good idea,'' I admit ,''But talk to Kurt first.''
Thank goodness for Blair. With Danielle, Rachel, Santana and Dani always busy, we need someone here to help us with Jade sometimes.
''I wanna learn how to play the guitar,'' Jacob points at the television ,''Like him.''
''I know how to play,'' I smile, pulling him into my lap ,''I could teach you.''
''Seriously,'' Liam raises an eyebrow, ''That's freaking awesome.''
''Language,'' I remind him, silently thankful that we've censored the words.
The last thing we need is for Grace to go to school for hearing words Kurt and I accidentally blurted in moments of frustration.
''Yes, I know how to play the guitar.''
''I want to learn how to play that, and the piano,'' Grace looks at me seriously ,''Okay?''
''Look, whatever any of you want to do, Kurt and I will do our best to support it. I promise.''
We both know what it's like to be told that you can't do something, and we both promised that we would never put our kids through that kind of torture.
''I… I think that I want to go to school for interior design,'' Jade smiles a bit ,''I know I have more time than Liam to think about it, but I think it's a good idea.''
''I want to be a guitar player,'' Jacob nods seriously.
''I am definitely going to be a journalist. I love writing for the school paper, and this is taking it to a whole other level,'' Liam explains, leaning his head against the back of the couch and closing his eyes.
''Gracie, honey,'' I begin, waiting until she faces me ,''What do you want to be?''
''I like ballet. I want to be a dancer,'' she speaks.
The smile that lights up Blair's face definitely doesn't go unmissed, and I know she's just glad that her biological daughter is taking interest in something that is so important to her.
I know it was hard for her and Ryder to give Grace up for adoption, but they did what they considered would be the best option for her. It's clear how much they love their kids, just as much as Kurt and I love ours.
''You can be whatever you want. And I need you all to know that,'' I remind them.
Just in case no one else never told you, or never tells you, you hear it from me and Kurt.
''Now. It is well pass all of your bed times, and we really don't need Kurt to know I kept you up this late. So it's off to bed,'' I sternly order.
Reluctantly, Liam, Jacob, Grace, and Jade head off to bed, leaving me alone with Blair.
''Your good at that,'' she puts her feet on the couch, ''Being a dad, I mean.''
''Yeah?''
I honestly have no idea what I'm doing sometimes.
''Yeah. You're part of the reason I believe in myself again. The kids will thank you for this one day. I know I do,'' she leans her head on the arm rest.
I just hope she's right.
This is definitely the most difficult thing I have ever done, being a parent.
Yet Kurt and I want to adopt more kids as soon as we can.
Because even though this is never easy, it's worth it.
