Family First Chapter 11: December 26
Disclaimer: I do not own anything.
A/N: Thanks for all the amazing reviews, you guys (and girls, dogs, cats, butterflies, assorted electronic equipment, and anyone/ anything else that may have acquired the ability to read, and submit reviews) are all amazing. I wanted to point out that this story has reached 300+ reviews- talk about amazing.
I have gotten quite a few reviews speculating about the length of this fic. I plan for this fic to end at the end of Winter Break, with the exception of three chapter's at the end (set in February) dealing with the Dursleys. So, including the chapters on the Dursley's (in which Harry won't play a big roll) there will be 22 chapters total. Now, I am consideringdoing a sequel. That being said if, if I decide to do one (I won't know until closer to the end of the fic) it won't get done right away. I currently am strapped for time, and I have a few other fic's I want to write (one for SPN, one for OUAT, and one for HP) so I'll just have to see how time consuming those are, and what my summer/senior year schedule looks like.
Warning: This chapter does contain (two) spanking(s). I have placed warnings at the beginning and end of each spanking scene for the convenience of my readers, however there is mention of spanking outside of these warnings. As always, if this bother's you don't read.
Beta'ed by Jasper's Mom
Lucius sighed and shot both of the boys' a look as the china on the table once again rattled, as the table jerked violently underneath the expensive glassware. He wasn't quite sure what was going on. What he did know was that both boys had woken in a temper, and upon laying eyes on each other the willingness to get along that they had displayed for the last two days had vanished. They had started the morning trading insults, not even trying to conceal them in polite words. Narcissa had put a stop to that with a few sharp words by the time they had sat down for breakfast. Instead of ignoring each other, they had progressed to making utterly rude faces at each other. Severus had broken them up this time with a hissed 'gentlemen'. Now for the last five minutes they had been kicking each other under the table. Lucius, supposing it was his turn to intervene did so quickly before massaging the bridge of his nose. It was going to be a very long day.
Had Harry known what the older man was thinking he would have very much agreed. For the first time in days it was just Harry and Draco, no friends, no ball, and no truths agreement. To make matters even better they would have the whole manor virtually to themselves today. Lucius had been asked to sit in on some important meeting today, and had intended to do some press control regarding Harry's living situation while he was at the ministry. Narcissa had a charity event she had promised to attend months before. Severus had a potion coming onto a critical stage that would require constant monitoring.
After finishing breakfast, in which, quite miraculously nothing was broken, Narcissa headed off, placing a kiss on both Draco and Harry's forehead and another to Lucius' lips. Lucius didn't have to leave for an hour and a half yet, but he still had to get ready, and there was no telling where the boys would be when he needed to leave he mused to himself.
"Harry, Draco, before you two go off somewhere I need to talk to you both. As I said after the ball, I trust you both to be responsible enough that I don't need to hire someone to watch after you for the next few hours. You both know how to behave, so I suggest you do so. No swimming, no flying, no horseback riding, no leaving the yard, and all the other house rules are still in place."
Harry had no choice but to protest that little speech. Lucius had just struck off three of his favorite activities. What was he supposed to do all day?
"Mr. Malfoy, I thought the pool and pitch had monitoring spells on them."
"They do. That's why Draco and you are allowed to go swimming and flying by yourselves, as long as an adult is home. But with everyone caught up in their work if something happened we may not be able to get to you in time. Any other questions?" It was Draco who spoke this time.
"What time are you and Mother going to be getting home?"
"Well, I know Severus will be busy until well after 4:30, assuming everything goes right. If you absolutely need him send an elf down to fetch him. Narcissa should be in around dinnertime. I could be here anytime between lunch and dinner, depending on how my meeting goes."
Lucius stood and ruffled both boys hair, getting identical groans from both of them before walking out.
An hour and a half later found a very bored Harry. He was tired of playing with the games and toys he had gotten on Christmas. After sitting on his bed for a few moments he released a sigh. Suddenly he stood, grabbed his grandfather's journal, as well as the picture album he had received, and left his room. A quick stop by the kitchen for snacks and then he walked out the door. One of the trails led to a gazebo towards the back of the property, floating on a small lake. The structure had heating charms placed around in in winter, and plenty of comfortable furniture. Harry was actually a bit sorry he didn't show it to Hermione when she was at the manor. It was the perfect place to sit and relax, or read. Now his only challenge was finding the right trail. Just as he made his decision that it was the second one to the left Draco came barreling out of the manor, crashing right into him.
"What do you think you're doing Potter, standing right at the entrance like that?"
"What do you think you're doing, crashing into people just because you didn't look where you were going."
"Shut up, I wouldn't have to worry about it if you stayed out of my way."
"You're the one who crashed into me Malfoy." Harry shouted at the retreating back. Malfoy had picked himself up and was quite quickly headed down the trail that lead to both the pitch and the pool. Harry watched him suspiciously for a moment before heading off in his own direction.
The afternoon was pleasant enough. He spent several hours reading his grandfather's journal. It started when the man was in his sixth year of Hogwarts. It detailed his courtship of Dorea Black, their wedding, the last year in Hogwarts, starting his job at the ministry, becoming Lord Potter, the birth of James, and on and on. Harry was thrilled to find the names of some of his father's friends for the first time. Sirius Black was the first one Harry found. It appeared that Sirius and his father were inseparable, and Sirius spent quite a bit of time with the Potters and even eventually moved in with them. His grandfather fully approved of Sirius and described him as impulsive, charming, slightly arrogant, rebellious, and loyal to a fault. The best type of friend, willing to do just about anything for those he cared about. Remus was the next friend Harry learned of. Apparently while James had never said anything, Charlus assumed Remus was a werewolf. Despite that, Charlus said he was likable, and reliable. He was described as being level headed, stubborn, intelligent, studious, and kind, if a bit self-conscious, and introverted. Mentioned far less was Peter Pettigrew. While the boy seemed to be a good friend of James it was clear Charlus had reservations about him. He described the boy as being shy, and awkward, lacking social graces, and tending towards disloyal. He mentioned several times that the boy seemed 'off' and 'strange' in a way Charlus couldn't identify. Where James and Sirius's pranks could be cruel, it was out of impulsiveness, and an inability to see the prank from their target's perspective. Not something too unusual in boys their age. Charlus seemed to think that Pettigrew genuinely enjoyed the pain and humiliation caused to another person.
Whatever his grandfather thought, Harry was just glad to finally have some names for his father's friends. Names were something he could look up, names meant he could find these people, or at least find out what happened to them.
At around 1:30 Harry began to walk up towards the house. Lunch would be served soon, and then he could look up the names he had found in the Malfoy library, or maybe even write a letter to all of them. Hedwig could deliver anywhere, and if they were alive, then maybe they would write to Harry?
As he came to a fork in the path's Harry made a sudden decision to go right instead of left. Left would take him to the house quicker, but right would take him by the pitch and the pool. Harry couldn't deny he was curious as to what Draco was doing over there, they weren't allowed to fly or swim. Fifteen minutes later the boy found out exactly what Draco was doing, as he watched the blond boy touchdown onto the pitch.
"Oi, Malfoy! I didn't know that don't fly meant don't get caught flying."
"Of course it does Potter." Draco wasn't going to back down. "All Slythrin's know that rules are meant to be broken, it's expected even. Just as long as you don't get caught breaking them. I wouldn't expect a Gryffindor to understand."
"Good, because I don't. Maybe I'll just ask your dad, I'm sure he could explain it to me."
"Don't. You. Dare."
"Or what?"
Draco, completely infuriated with the Gryffindor stomped towards the house.
"Or I'll tell him you only know because you were swimming in the pool."
"I was not." Harry was completely outraged; after all he had been following the rules all day.
"Papa doesn't know that."
Harry was just as furious as Draco now. They both stormed into the informal sitting room, and plopped down at their seats. Harry was just about to take a bite of the sandwich on his plate when a squirt of mustard went flying across the room onto his shirt. He glared at the blond boy who still had the canister of mustard in his hand.
"Oops, it must have gotten away from me."
"It's alright Malfoy; I wouldn't expect you to be competent enough to use a bottle of mustard without making a mess."
And that was all it took. Draco was across the table in a wild tangle of limbs, and colliding with Harry. The darker haired boy grabbed both shoulders of the other boy and pushed, hard, forcing the Draco to knock into the table causing the china to shatter as it collided with the floor. Both boys froze a moment, looking at the ruined glasswork, before once again flinging themselves at each other.
Lucius Malfoy was quite content. The meeting had been short, and had gone surprisingly well. The meeting with the media had gone even better. He had given a short press release, and answered a few questions, and then made it clear that anyone printing false stories about any member of the Malfoy family, including Harry Potter, or their friends, would find themselves in court. To make his day even better, the date for the trial of the Dursley's had been set on February the 19th.
He had managed to accomplish all his goals and make it home just after two in the afternoon. He could eat lunch with the boys, and then maybe he would take them out somewhere. Bonding time, maybe that was what they needed. As he approached the informal sitting room his eyebrows drew together at the noises coming from the room. Then within a fraction of a second they raised slightly as his eyes widened.
His steps quickened and his stride lengthened. When he reached the door, he grabbed the handle and turned without so much as a second thought. But upon opening the door, he did freeze for a moment.
The table was completely turned over. Bits of glass and food littered the floor, and the chairs were scattered about the room in a random fashion. In the middle of it all, the two eleven year old boys stood in an all-out bar brawl style fight. For a moment Lucius usually quick brain struggled to process exactly what was going on, and how to deal with it. He stepped forward and took a deep breath.
"What is going on here?"
Both of the boys froze in shock. Then as sudden as they had frozen they both began what Lucius was sure would be completely different explanations.
"Enough." Lucius took a steadying breath. "Both of you come here."
Harry was surprisingly enough the first to take a few steps forward, Draco following closely behind.
"Mr. Malfoy, Dra-" Lucius cut him off with a risen hand. I'm not interested in accusations or excuses at this moment. There will be time for that later. Right now what I am most interested in is whether or not you are hurt.
"No, I'm fine"
"Mr. Potter, you have a black eye and a busted lip that I can see. That is most certainly not fine. Now, if you would please try that again? I need to know what needs to be healed, and or numbed. I can run a scan, but that will only tell me where you are injured, not where you are hurt and so on."
"My ribs hurt a little, and my hand."
Lucius picked up each of the boy's hands one after the other. He gently brushed his fingers over the bruised scraped knuckles. Then he tipped the boys chin back, looking at the bruised eye and busted lip in better light. Finally he pulled Harry's shirt up just enough to take a look at the ribs. With his primary inspection done, he cast a quick spell, in an effort of assess how injured the ribs really were.
"I'll get some paste from Severus to close up the scrapes on your hands. I can numb your lip, eye, and your ribs, as well as the bruises on your knuckles, but there's not much more I can do for bruises. I want you to go to my office, and stick your nose in a corner."
Lucius watched the boy go, walking slowly and dragging his feet. Once he was sure that Harry was well on his way to the office he turned again and repeated similar actions with Draco, before sending him to stand in the corner of the family room.
Lucius contemplated the situation for a moment. He understood that Draco and Harry had a rivalry, but he had believed without a doubt that they would grow to be brothers. He had been content to allow them to solve the tension on their own, but clearly that approach wasn't working. Lucius took a few calming breaths. Standing here bemoaning the state of his boy's wasn't helping anything. Looking around the room he set it to rights with a slow sweep of his wand. Now, with the easiest task done he could focus on what he needed to do next. Obviously punishment was in order, as he would not ever tolerate this sort of behavior. Beyond the guaranteed spanking, a short period confined to their room wouldn't hurt either. It would keep them away from one another until Lucius came up with a plan of attack, while giving him time to talk to both boys.
He stopped into the family room to ask his father to watch over Draco before heading into his study to deal with Harry. The boy was standing in the corner just as Lucius had ordered him to. While he was still, the tense shoulders, rapid breath, and the tilt of his chin showed that he was bristling with anger, or outrage, Lucius wasn't really sure which. In any event, the boy clearly needed more time to cool down.
"When you calm down a bit we'll talk, until then you can stand just as you are." It only took five minutes or so for the boy to calm and as promised Lucius pushed back his own chair, and called Harry over to stand between his knees.
"Harry." Lucius let his words virtually drip with disappointment. "I trusted you to behave on your own. After how mature you acted at the ball I was sure that you both could behave without hiring a babysitter. I was under the impression that you both would act like young men, instead I returned home to find a scene I would expect from squabbling toddlers. Tell me what happened."
Harry's eyes had gone glassy with tears. He opened his mouth, but quickly shut it again, taking a deep breath before starting the tale.
"We were at lunch, and Draco squirted mustard on me, on purpose. So, I told him that he was incompetent, and he hit me." Harry whispered out the words, as if he said them quietly it would make them less true.
"I'm sure there must have been more to it than that. The whole story please Harry James. Start from when I left."
"Well, I stayed in my room for a bit, but I got bored. So I decided to go out onto the gazebo, and read grandpa's journal. Draco was headed out at the same time, and he knocked right into me!"
"On purpose, or by accident?"
"By accident, but he didn't apologize either."
"Alright, he knocked into you, then what."
"We said some stuff, and he headed down the trail leading to the pool and pitch." Lucius decided to let that go, he was quite certain he did not want to know the stuff Harry and Draco said to each other. "So, I went to the gazebo and read. Oh, do you know who Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew are?"
Lucius refused to groan at the list of names. A traitorous murder, a coward, and a dead man.
"We'll talk about it later, for now back on the topic at hand. You were reading at the gazebo."
"Yes sir, but it was almost lunch time, so I decided to come up to the house, only I wanted to see what Draco was doing, so I took the longer path past the pool. He was flying!" Harry paused, clearly waiting for Lucius response to that little comment. Lucius decided not to indulge him.
"So what did you do?"
"I told him I was going to tell you, he got mad and stormed off. So then I followed him to lunch, and, well you saw how well that went."
"Harry, you two have been fighting all day, I don't know what to do with the two of you, separate you, or force you together all the time. What can I do to help you get along?" Harry shrugged, and despite the pause in conversation for a little over a minute and a half, refused to answer.
"I don't need to tell you what you did wrong, do I?"
"No sir, fighting."
"Do you know what rules you broke?"
"Putting myself in danger."
"And respect, to my property, and Draco, but most importantly to yourself. If you can't respect yourself, no one else will ever be able to." Lucius once again paused, allowing his words to sink in.

Lucius was met with no resistance when he began to unbutton the boy's pants, drawing both the pants and shorts down, and tugging the boy over his knees. Once Harry was settled he started laying down smacks at a steady pace. Starting just blow the hip, his hands traveled down his thigh half way to the boy's knee, before traveling up the other side. He repeated the circuit on a heavily sniffling Harry, and again a third time on the crying boy in his lap.
By the time he was finished, Harry was sobbing heavily, backside burning furiously. Lucius silently rubbed his back for a moment, allowing the boy to stop sobbing quite so hard. After a few moments he drew the boy up, and laid Harry against his chest, backside hanging off his knees. He was still crying quite heavily, his breath hitching with a sob every now and again as Lucius whispered words of comfort to him while rubbing his back and stroking his hair.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~CP Fin~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
After a good ten minutes of comfort, the now silent boy had almost fallen asleep on the older man.
"Come now little fawn, I need to talk to you for a moment."
"Mmmm." Harry mumbled in response from the man's chest.
"Before anything, you know that you're forgiven right?"
"Mmhumm." Harry released another quiet response from his chest.
"Alright then, I think it best if you and Draco have some time away from each other. So, for the rest of today and tomorrow, you both are going to stay in your rooms. You're not grounded exactly, as you still have access to your toys, books, and whatnot. They say separation makes the heart fonder, so were going to test that little theory. You won't be alone all day, so don't worry about that. Either Narcissa or I will be in for breakfast, and the other will have Lunch with you. The family will still have dinner together as always, and as part of the family you will of course be allowed out of your room for dinner." Harry didn't reply until Lucius prompted one.
"Yes sir?"
"Yes sir."
With that Lucius carried the almost asleep boy into his room, tucking him into the bed, and hesitating before placing a kiss on the boy's forehead. Surprised green eyes looked up at him.
"Have a good nap Harry." He ruffled the boy's perpetually messy hair, before walking out the door to deal with his other son.
Draco was standing in the corner, just as he expected, Abraxas gave him a nod before strolling out of his frame.
"Draco, with me please." Draco complied without protest or excuse, which was somewhat surprising. Equally surprisingly was the honest explanation he gave, without prompting, attitude, or accusation. Lucius proceeded with the same lecture he had given Harry just moments before. He listened to Draco rattle off a list of rules he had broken, before unbuttoning the boy's pants, and pulling them, as well as his boxers down.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~CP~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
He adjusted Draco's position over his knee, and waited for the boy to settle before starting the spanking. Just as he had spanked Harry, he started just under the hip on Draco's right side, working his way down halfway to the boy's knees, and then up the left side of the boy. After three rounds Draco was sobbing, perhaps a bit harder than Harry had been. After a moment of contemplation, Lucius landed a flurry of swats to Draco's sit spots and thighs for flying without permission. Satisfied with the walloping he had doled out, he began to rub the boy's back.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~CP Fin~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Draco began to calm slowly, and after several minutes his crying had tapered off to the occasional sob. Lucius pulled him up, and cuddled him against his chest, allowing his behind to hang off over his knees. He wiped the still falling tears off of Draco's face with his thumb, occasionally allowing his hand to travel further north; coming threw his son's fine hair. His other hand rubbed the boy's back, and massaged the joint where shoulders met neck. Unlike Harry, who seemed to almost melt into Lucius after a spanking nearly falling asleep, Draco grew more and more restless eager to be up and about. Once Draco's tears had stopped completely and the boy was squirming madly in hopes of getting off of his father's lap Lucius addressed him.
"Dragon, you know you're forgiven just as always?"
"Yes Papa."
"Good, then you also need to know that you're confined to your room for the rest of today, and tomorrow. As usual your mother or I will have breakfast and lunch with you, and dinner will be served as a family."
"Alright Papa."
"Let me at least walk you to your room."
"I can get there myself." Although the words were slightly rude, Draco hadn't meant them that way in the least.
"I know you can, but I want to walk with you." Draco and Lucius made their way up the stairs slowly, and although they were silent, there was a clear sense of companionship. Once they reached the room in question Lucius followed Draco in.
"Take off your shoes and the pullover as well."
"Why?"
"I want you to take a bit of a nap; maybe it'll take the edge off your temper. You have been in a foul, argumentative mood all day. You were cooperative enough during the lecture, and I thank you for that, but since the moment you and Harry got up this morning, you have been at each other's throats. I think part of that has to do with a lack of sleep over the last few days.
Once the boy had complied with his request he tucked his blond haired child into bed, much to Draco's chagrin. Then Lucius kissed his forehead, and whispered to him."
"Have a good nap Draco."
