Caroline kept her eyes closed as she felt the warmness of Klaus' lips on hers. She didn't want to think about anything else but this moment. She had waited patiently for years and now that she had the opportunity to have him she wasn't going to back away.
At first she could feel the muscles in the back of neck tensing up as she held him towards her, but she refused to let him go. Caroline felt the pang of rejection and slowly pulled away. She had been such a fool to believe that for one moment out of this chaotic life she could have something that she wanted.
She opened her eyes and couldn't stop herself from glancing up at Klaus' face. Caroline didn't move at his darkened eyes took her in. "Klaus… I-" Her words came to a halt as his mouth crashed down on hers.
This kiss was different than the ones they had shared before. The intensity of his lips pressed against hers was overwhelming. She needed to catch her breath but she didn't have the will to tell him to stop. Finally he lifted his mouth away from hers, giving her time to breathe in the air she needed.
His hands pressed tightly into her hips as his lips traveled to the juncture of her shoulder and neck. She could feel him nipping and sucking at the sensitive skin and all of the precious air was sucked right back out of her. This was all so foreign to her, she never knew that kissing could feel this good.
"Klaus…" Caroline moaned through clenched teeth. His mouth moved up her neckline placing small kisses all the way up to the corner of her mouth. He stopped for a moment, his cheek pressed against hers. His stubble scratched at her face. She didn't care, not as long as he was this close to her.
"Caroline…" She could hear the huskiness in his voice as he spoke, "I want you." She closed her eyes and smiled, the thought of him wanting her was more than she could bare. His grip loosened on her hips and she sighed at the loss of contact.
"But… I'm afraid, I can't" Her eyes flew open and her arms fell from his neck as she pushed his arms off her. Her mood suddenly shifted and turned to confusion. She watched as Klaus kept his head down, not bothering to look at her.
Caroline was furious. She knew Klaus wanted her, knew that he could have her but choose not to. "Why?!" she harshly yelled at him, wanting to know the true reason. He didn't answer her but kept his head down, refusing to look at her.
She wanted nothing more than to yank his head up and make him face her but she didn't. "I don't understand… you want me, but you can't? What does that even mean? Please, make me understand!" Caroline could feel the tears forming but she didn't want to give in to him. She didn't want him to see how hurt she truly was.
The silence was her only conformation of his feelings. Without a second thought she pushed past him and ran out of the stable. She didn't know where she wanted to go, but she knew that she didn't want to be there.
She noticed the sun was setting, but that didn't stop her from running into the woods. The tears poured down her face as she ran. All she had wanted for that one perfect moment was a feeling of normalcy in her life.
A man that she had wanted for so long, one that had haunted her dreams wanted her but wouldn't take her. She couldn't help but think of all the reason why he didn't want her. Was she really that repulsive? What in that moment had changed his mind about wanting her? Caroline finally found a clearing in the woods and stopped.
She didn't know if her breathing was from running so hard or from the pain in her chest. She knew the feeling of her heart breaking all over again. Her hair had fallen out of the braid and was now covering her face. Caroline was so distracted and lost in her thoughts she didn't notice the figure in front of her.
"Seems like someone finally learned their place." Caroline's head snapped up at the voice, recognizing it immediately. She took a deep breath and stood, brushing her hair away facing the intruder. "What do you want Genevieve?"
The red head gave her an eerie smile, "I was just taking a walking and what are the odds of finding you out here? Where is Niklaus? Isn't he supposed to be keeping an eye on you?" The sarcastic tone of Genevieve's voice made Caroline want to hit her.
"Klaus isn't my keeper. Now I'll ask again, what do you want?" Caroline snapped. The witch began walking around, her long cloak dragging behind her. "I want you gone…. We all know that and I plan on making it happen."
Caroline's eyes followed Genevieve as she walked in a circle around her. "Elijah and… Klaus already plan to send me away, so don't worry you will be getting your wish soon." Caroline choked out. Harsh laughter startled Caroline forcing her to back away into an invisible wall.
She turned around and hit what was some kind of barrier, preventing her from moving out of the circle Genevieve had been walking. "What- what the hell have you done?!" Caroline shouted. Her fists pounded at the wall trying to break it somehow.
"A little spell. You'll be fine here for the night. I've made some arrangements for you myself. A werewolf pack will be here in the morning to fetch you… and you'll never see Niklaus again. I think it's the best for everyone, especially you. So long Caroline Forbes, it's been a pleasure." With a wicked smile and wave, Genevieve was gone.
Caroline's heart fell in her chest. There had to be some way to break this spell. "Help me! Help!" She began screaming desperately. She knew it was no use though, no one would be able to hear her. There was no way that she was going to let her last encounter with Klaus end like it did.
Even though she was mad with him for rejecting her, she didn't want to leave not knowing his true feelings. There was nothing she could do now though but wait for sunrise. Caroline sat down as the forest became darker. She crawled into a ball trying to keep herself warm thinking, or hoping that someone might come save her.
Ok, I don't usually post anything, but I know some may think that I've made Caroline "weak" in this FF so far, but in the next few chapters things are going to drastically change for her... I promise. Just have a little faith in me. Thanks! :)
