Chapter 9

"Kaede…?" Rin asked, as she walked outside.

"What is it child?"

"Sesshomaru and I have to go now." Rin whispered, "Thanks for helping me."

"But ye need your rest, child. You just gave birth several days ago." Kaede reprimanded.

Sesshomaru walked up behind Rin, and placed his hand in the crook of her back and led her to the forest. Kaede could do nothing, she then realized there was something bothering the dog demon, as he and Rin vanished into the woods.

~~~~~~~~SEVERAL HOURS LATER~~~~~
"Sesshomaru?" Rin asked, as she let out a light yawn.
"What is it?"
"Can we stop? Akemi and Katsuo are getting restless, and I think they're hungry. Please." Rin begged.
Sesshomaru kept walking, and looked over his shoulder. He noticed Rin had given up for the day, and decided to feed both Akemi and Katsuo right along the path. He knelt beside her and kept watch like a hawk. That demon was right; she is more vulnerable in this state. She can't endure long hours on her feet, we'll have to be more careful. Sesshomaru thought, as he wrapped his arm around her shoulder.
Looking down, Sesshomaru blushed a little bit. He never felt this way before, something about Rin feeding their children made him realize that if she hadn't saved him he would still loathe humans. Rin finished feeding their children and looked up at Sesshomaru.
"Would you like to hold your son?" Rin asked.
Sesshomaru nodded slowly, but didn't know what to do. He never held his younger brother when he was born. Rin giggled, still cradling Akemi in her other arm. She placed Katsuo in Sesshomaru's arms, and without any instruction his hands immediately cradled their son as if he's done it before.
"Look at that, you're a natural." Rin whispered in his ear.
Katsuo began to whimper slightly, and Sesshomaru looked at Rin worriedly, "He doesn't seem to like me."
"Bounce him gently, move your arms up and down slowly."
Sesshomaru did as he was told, and Katsuo immediately stopped whimpering and giggled, raising his arms up his father. All Sesshomaru could do was smlle, he didn't think anything could be so precious in his life.
"Sesshomaru…?" Rin whispered.
"What is it?"
"Do you regret this, like saving me and everything it's led to?" Rin asked.
Before Sesshomaru could answer Rin, Jaken broke through the branches and fell right in front of Sesshomaru and Rin.
"Milord, please forgive me! I lost my footing, I am so sorry!" He pleaded as he bowed.
"Jaken, what is it?" Sesshomaru asked, as he still bounced Katsuo in his arms.
"It's Tsubaki…she's down by the lake!" Jaken shouted.
Sesshomaru gave Katsuo over to Rin, and put her in a protective barrier in front of the tree.
"Stay here!" Sesshomaru ordered.
Rin nodded, while bouncing her children in both arms, and she watched Sesshomaru and Jaken flash into the darkness deeper into the woods.
Several minutes later, the trees around Rin began to blow with fierce, as a shadow appeared in front of the barrier. Rin backed up as far as she could, trying to keep her children calm and safe.
"Well, look what we have here." The shadow chuckled.
"Who are you?" Rin asked.
"You should remember me from your past; I worked with Naraku and kept an eye on Kohaku."
"Kagura…?" Rin asked.
"So you do remember?" Kagura chuckled.
~~~~~~WITH SESSHOMARU~~~~~~

"What are you doing here?" Sesshomaru growled at Tsubaki.

"Rumor has it, that Rin girl had two children…"

Sesshomaru charged towards Tsubaki with all of his might, grabbing her neck with great force.

"I swear, if you harm her. You will not live to see another day. After I'm done with you, you're going to wish you died when you should've." Sesshomaru growled.

Sesshomaru twitched as he heard a familiar ring in his ears, something happened to Rin. How could anyone break that barrier? He thought as he dropped Tsubaki onto the ground.

"Sesshomaru!" Rin shouted from up above.

He looked up and saw Kagura holding Rin and his two children on her plume.

"Is this what you're looking for?" Kagura chuckled.

Sesshomaru threw off his fur coat and transformed into a large dog demon that was ready to attack with full force.
