Chapter 10

"Sesshomaru!" Rin shouted as she kept her children close to her chest.

The enormous dog demon began to lunge, but then froze in his spot. Realizing that he could too endanger Rin as well as his children.

"Be quiet, girl!" Kagura shouted, getting ready to strike Rin.

Rin protested and knocked Kagura off of her plume, leaving Rin defenseless on the plume. She didn't know how to fly, let alone control it.

"Sesshomaru!" She shouted again.

She held her children tightly, hoping for a miracle. Within seconds the plume suddenly vanished, leaving Rin and her children helpless, plummeting down to nothing. Both Sesshomaru and Tsubaki jumped for Rin, and raced to her. Rin tried to remain brave for her children, still holding them close to her chest.

Sesshomaru, please save me. Don't let this woman get to me. Rin thought as she continued to fall from the sky. Sesshomaru looked to his side and attacked Tsubaki mid-air. He took Tsubaki's arm in his mouth and flung her in the opposite direction, leaving her arm hang their helpless.

"Damn you, Sesshomaru!" Was the last thing Tsubaki shouted before she hit the cold, hard, stone ground.

"Rin!" Sesshomaru howled, as he caught her and his children on his back.

Sesshomaru smiled, as she grabbed hold of his fur. Sesshomaru dove to the ground and landed fully on the ground. He let Rin get off his back, before changing back into his human form. Rin looked down at the lifeless Tsubaki, while gasping.

"Is she really gone?" Rin asked worriedly.

"It takes a lot to kill a demon, such as Tsubaki, but…" Sesshomaru said as he pulled out Tokijin, "this should do it."

Sesshomaru wielded Tokijin and sliced Tsubaki into several pieces, and all Rin wanted to do was turn away; but she couldn't get a sense of relief unless she watched the end of Tsubaki. Sesshomaru put Tokijin back in its' sheath, and with his demonic powers he set the carcass a flame.

Sesshomaru turned around and held Rin in a tight hug.

"I thought I lost you, again."

"You'll never lose me Sesshomaru…"

Sesshomaru smiled as he kissed her forehead. He looked down at his children, and took Katsuo in his arm. They both walked back towards Kaede's village, hand in hand, with one child in each arm.

"What do you say we do something special, huh Rin?"

"What do you mean?"

He chuckled as they stopped before entering the village.

"We let that woman watch our children, and we go on a little adventure."

"Just the two of us?"

Sesshomaru nodded, as he wrapped one arm around Rin's shoulders. They approached Kaede's hut, and she met them halfway on the bridge.

"Are ye alright, child?" Kaede asked.

"Yes, I'm fine, I just wanted…"

"How are the children?" She interrupted.

"They're fine, Kaede."

Kaede smiled as she looked at Rin and to Sesshomaru. She wondered as to why they showed up out of the blue, especially when Rin said several days ago that they had to go.

"Then what is it, child? Why have ye come back so soon?"

Sesshomaru gritted his teeth, this old hag is really starting to piss me off. Let Rin talk, all we want to do is ask her a favor, and she's just nailing us with questions.

"Kaede, we want to know if you would be okay with watching Katsuo and Akemi for a little while."

"That is no problem, Rin. I'll watch them for you."

Rin smiled, as she kissed Akemi's head, and Sesshomaru kissed Katsuo's head as well. Sesshomaru and Rin kissed the other baby's head as well, and slowly handed them over to Kaede. Rin knew Kaede would keep her children well, but it was hard regardless. It just felt like a day ago, she gave birth to them and now she was leaving them.

"Thank you, Kaede."

Kaede smiled and nodded, as she walked back towards her hut, and let Sesshomaru and Rin alone on the bridge.

"Are you ready to go?" Sesshomaru asked quietly.

Rin let out a quiet whimper as she nodded. Sesshomaru picked Rin up bridal style and carried her away into the blood-orange sky.

"Where are we going Sesshomaru?"

"Somewhere, where we don't have to worry about anything for a while. A place where it can just be us to for a good amount of time."

"Sesshomaru…" She paused.

He looked at her and smiled down at her, and answered her before she could finish her sentence.

"I love you too." He whispered.
