Chapter 5

The Day it came Clanking Back

()()()()

Riewel Household, Krayt's newly refurbished room, One week and three days after Krayt's arrival, 8:27 AM

A roster sounded off which marked Krayt's tenth day at at the house. Krayt opened his eyes to see the white ceiling he had woken up to for the past five nights. This room intended to be Cyton and Agitha's next child's room but after the stabbing incident it was converted into a small storage room. Now the room belong to the newest but not youngest family member, Krayt. After the boxes were removed from the room, a old bed was moved into the room along with an old dresser and a desk. Cyton gave more of his childhood clothes to Krayt due to Krayt's small wardrobe consisting of a torn black shirt and a set of heavy clothes.

Krayt's bag of strange trinkets sat next to the door and had been collecting dust ever since he left it there. The final piece of furniture that was moved into the room was a full body mirror that sat next to the door. Krayt managed to roll out of bed and examined himself in the mirror, whatever his past life must have been it was a rough one.

Out of all his wounds, the scar on his right shoulder made Krayt the most curious, it appeared to be a scar from extreme heat. The skin around his shoulder was bumpy and slightly misshapen proving it was a burn mark. Once in a while, his shoulder would feel moderate amounts of pain but it wasn't bad enough to inhibit him from going about his new daily life. His fingers ran over the back of his shoulder feeling every bump and misinformation there was, the scar was about the size of an average man's clenched fist.

Krayt moved to his dresser and retrieved a T-shirt, shorts, socks, and undergarments. He managed to put on the fresh underwear and shorts when there was a knock at his door, it was Cyton, "Can I come in?"

"Yeah." Krayt responded as he started slipping on the shirt.

Cyton walked into the room wearing his work clothes he always wore when he worked the farm, "Are you sure you want to do this? I know you promised but you won't be able to hold that promise if you hurt yourself worse."

Krayt couldn't help but smiled, "I'm fine Cyton. Because of me, you're several days behind. Beside, you know how I feel about mooching off people . . . especially if they are my family."

"You are really stubborn, you know that right?"

"Yeeaahh . . . I know."

Cyton disappeared out of the room into the hallway for a second, then came back with a newly made straw hat, "If that's the case, then wear this. It'll protect your neck from the sun."

Krayt took the hat and slipped it on, it fit perfectly without being too tight but not loose enough so it would slide around, "Shall we get breakfast before we start?"

Cyton nodded slightly, "That would be a good idea."

The two of them went downstairs and soon their nostrils were filled with the scent of buttered toast, fresh juicy bacon, and scrambled eggs. The two males tore through their food in a matter of minutes before washing it down with orange juice. Before Krayt stepped outside into the sun, he applied sunscreen to his arms, legs, and face to be on the safe side.

Finally the two of them stepped onto the front porch, the July heat blasted them both in face the as soon as they left the cool house. Cyton handed to more things to Krayt, a cold canteen and a twelve inch dagger.

"Water for drinking, knife for cuttin'n'stabbin." Cyton said as held the two objects toward Krayt.

Krayt grinned slightly, "A dagger for me and a sword for you?"

"Well, you seemed to be plenty okay with a kitchen knife but I decided to get you a better tool."

A eyebrow lifted on Krayt's forehead, "You know what I meant."

It was Cyton's turn to smile, "I did, I just chose to annoy you."

The farm work was hard work, slow progress, and caused you to sweat like a sauna. That was before taking the sun into account, the two of them made quick hourly trips back to the house to retrieve more water before setting back to work. Krayt decided on taking the hard job of hoeing the hard ground, luckily his muscles were up to the task thanks to his training he had forgotten. The day progress slowly as they worked but sadly someone had to take care of it and both Cyton and Krayt weren't about to allow Agitha or Neri to take on this task. The two of them wanted the girls to be able to relax, and besides, the two of them were safer in the house than outside.

Krayt learned that wasn't the first time the wolves paid a visit to the farmhouse, but it certainly would have been the worst visit if Krayt hadn't been there. Cyton would normally be able to drive them off sometimes at the cost of a farm animal.

Krayt slammed the iron hoe blade back into the ground and pulled hard. At this time, the two of them had been working for well over seven hours with some breaks. Most of Krayt's muscles screamed in protest but the boy kept working regardless of how tired he was. Although as he continued to work until his arms finally refused to lift the hoe anymore. Krayt dragged the hoe to fence and leaned the tool against it.

He turned to Cyton and shouted, "How much longer do we have to work? My arms are jelly right now."

Cyton laughed in response, "Told you it was hard work. Maybe you can maybe make use of those books I found and try some of that fancy magic."

Three days before, Cyton had told everyone he was going to town for a couple errands and asked the family if they needed anything. Krayt had requested a couple books on magic - Earth magic if possible - to be brought back so he could study his ability. He learned quite a bit over the past three days and had been anxious to try out what he had learned. The ditch he had been digging was about three fourths of the way done. Krayt walked over to the end of the ditch with his arms hanging numbly at his side.

Once in place, Krayt started focusing his mind on the ground around him. He shut his eyes and shout, " Dig!"

He kept it simple, trying to use simple words for simple actions. The green circle from before erupted underneath his feet and the sound of shifting ground could be heard. When Krayt opened his eyes, he found a freshly dug ditch continuing where he left off. Krayt repeated this process multiple times until seven magically dug ditches were sitting in the hot sun. Digging the seven and one fourth ditches took Krayt two hours to finish, once done Cyton decided they made plenty of progress.

The two of them went into the house and were greeted by Neri and Agitha as well as mashed potatoes with pork cutlets. The dinner conversation was about focused around krayt's first day on the was honestly surprised how long Krayt managed to work, he also made a couple comments about Krayt's magic ability.

"So a fighter and a magic user? I know a guild who you would fit right in with."

Krayt tilted his head, "What's a guild again?"

Cyton thought for a moment, "Well, a guild is when a group of people come together and decide to become a new family of sorts. It's a lot more complicated than I'm letting on though."

Krayt smiled, "So, we're are sorta like a guild because we're a group of people that came together decided to become a new family of sorts."

Cyton laughed, "I guess we are."

"A guild also takes job requests from clients in order to support themselves as well as the guild." Agitha chimed in.

"Guilds sound pretty cool, maybe when I'm older I can join one." Krayt said before tearing off a chunk of pork with his teeth.

Cyton laughed again, "Haven't been part of the family long and he's already looking to leave us."

The evenings conversation continued on for a bit longer before Krayt decided to take a bath. He didn't jump into the bathtub out of fear of re-opening the wounds on his back accidentally, surprisingly the healing wounds on his back didn't cause him much discomfort as he was working which was surprising considering the severity of the wound. Before Krayt dressed himself for bed, he looked in his mirror at his back. He was surprised to find that his wound seemed to be healing rather quickly. The cuts in his back were still visible but were quickly fading, although regardless of how quickly it healed a scar was a most likely outcome.

He then checked the his right side of his body along the rib cage, the cut he had arrived with was all but almost vanished. Unlike the wound on his back, the likelihood of a scar from this wound was extremely unlikely. Krayt dressed in his pajamas which were originally Cyton's at one point and switched off his lamp. A few minutes after Krayt laid back, a knocking at his door caused him to open his eyes.

"Come on in."

The door opened to reveal Cyton in his own pajamas, "You up for more work tomorrow?"

"Sure, it'll take a while for my body to get into the habit of it but it should be fine after a week or two."

"Don't exert yourself too much, I don't want you to be in worse shape than you are now later down the road."

"Don't worry old man, I'll be fine. Besides, my wounds are healing rather quickly. My guess it the magic that speeding the recovery process." Krayt said as he sat up.

Cyton ignored the 'old man' part, "It's possible. Alright, get some sleep. We need to finish digging by tomorrow if we plan to grow anything this summer."

Krayt gave a lazily two finger salute, "Roger roger."

As soon as Cyton left, Krayt could feel his eyelids growing heavier. He didn't fight his eyelids but instead let them slide over his eye allowing him to fall into his dream.

For another night, Krayt dreamt peacefully, away from Terentatek.

July 31st

The passing weeks flew by quickly for Krayt, working on the farm and spending time with his new family. It felt strange to Krayt, he felt at home with the Riewel, a feeling that felt foreign to him. But whether it was strange to him or not, he loved the feeling. Over the passing weeks, Krayt grew closer with his new found family, grew stronger physically and started to achieve more potential with his magic. With enough focus, he could almost cover his entire body in rock armor similar to what happened with his arms. Although moving around in the armor was a entirely different story, he had enough control to have cover his body but not nearly enough control to make every joint move smoothly at once.

The end of the month came strangely to Krayt, the normal routine that had been established was that Cyton would come wake Krayt up. This morning, Krayt had woken up much later in the day. He quickly dressed himself in his work clothes and sprinted downstairs, Neri was sitting at the table apparently drawing in a coloring book.

She looked up as Krayt ran downstairs and smiled, "Good morning Big Brother."

"Morning, is Cyton working the farm?" Krayt asked quickly as he scrounged up some scrambled eggs and hash browns

"No, today is a lazy day for all of us." She replied as she went back to doodling in her book.

Krayt shot her a confused look, "Lazy day?"

"Yeah, at the end of each month, we just lounge around the house all day. Dad sometimes goes to town and hangs out with some friends."

"Don't we have a lazy day every Sunday?" Krayt asked as he sat down across the table form Neri.

Agitha walked in from the living room, "That's more of a religious thing then just being lazy."

"You guys are religious?"

Agitha shook her head, "Not so much, no. We still say a prayer every now and then but we are generally non-religious."

Krayt swallowed a scoop of eggs, "Do you believe in god?"

"Well . . . I believe that there is a higher power watching the events of the world unfold."

"Don't bore him with that kind of talk, let the kid enjoy his breakfast." Cyton stepped in from the porch.

"Well he asked."

Krayt looked toward Cyton, "To be fair, I did ask."

"Anyway, when you're done eating, come out to the porch. I want to show you something." And with that, Cyton closed the door behind him and sat out on the steps.

Krayt did finish his breakfast quickly, but before head outside he slipped on his dark tan-ish colored pants as well as a plain white shirt before heading out to the porch.

He plopped down next Cyton and looked out over the farm. The seeds they had planted a few weeks ago had already sprouted and start to grow. Krayt looked at what Cyton was doing, what it looked like he was carving something out a piece of wood about the size of his forearm.

"What are you doing?" Krayt asked as he continued staring.

"Whittling, making this piece of wood into something else." He responded without breaking focus from the carving.

Krayt continued watching as Cyton made various cuts into the chunk of wood. An hour went by before Cyton paused for a moment and showed the block to Krayt. In short, Krayt was astonished. Cyton had carved a face onto the block of wood that looked Krayt's. It was rough around the edges but anyone could tell it was his own face.

"How?"

Cyton smiled, "Remember when I said I was once a fighting man? Well while I was serving and nothing was happening, I would start carving. Soon enough, whenever I had free time I found myself carving. Became really good at it too."

Cyton had captured Krayt's interest, "Mind if I try?"

"Thought you might say something like that." Cyton reached beside him and grabbed another small piece of wood as well as another knife.

Krayt took both items but eyed the small knife, "Why can't I just use my dagger?"

"Smaller knives are betting for carving, use a dagger and you're more likely to cut yourself."

"Good point." Krayt reversed the knife in his in the wood and began to push.

He was immediately called out by Cyton, "No, not like that you dimwit. You're not suppose to try and cut chunks out of the wood. You're whittling, not gouging for crying out loud."

Krayt was slightly embarrassed, but after some reassurance from Cyton, he started chipping away at the piece. He didn't have a set thing in mind what he wanted to carve, he just started carving. Cyton resumed his own carving and the two boys spent most the day just whittling away. By the time they both looked up, the sun was already descending.

Krayt looked at what he had carved, it was . . . nothing. The wood was a lot smoother and curved. Krayt wasn't upset, he had decided from the beginning just to practice carving so he could get the wrist movement correct. He tossed the piece of wood off to the side of the stairs and into the dirt. Cyton on the other hand had made a lot of progress, the piece of wood now had a more humanoid shape to it.

Cyton stood up and examined the piece of wood before smiling and nodding to himself, "Looks like it's coming along nicely, although I'll need to finish it another time."

Krayt eyed the piece of wood in admiration, "I don't think I'll ever be that good."

"Don't worry kid, you'll get the hang of it eventually." Cyton patted Krayt on the back before heading toward the door. He stopped and turned back around, "I just remembered, I need to go into town tomorrow for some supplies. Instead of sitting around here, why don't we bring the whole family to town?"

"Sounds good to me, I'll wear some nice clothes tomorrow just for the occasion." Krayt joked. Instead of heading inside, Krayt went down the stairs and continued walking away from the house.

"Where are you off to?"

"Some magic practice, I want to see if I can try a new trick." He called back as he continued walking.

"Well . . . don't hurt yourself." And with that, Cyton walked back inside the house without another word.

Krayt kept walking until he left the property and ended up on the other side of the road opposite from the Riewel property. Before trying his new trick, Krayt did some warm ups such making some rocks move and others levitate. Another common practice move he did was splitting open the ground with magic instead of using a hoe.

Once he felt he was ready he was ready, he moved to a spot of undisturbed earth and crouched down. The trick he wanted to try was a advance form of earth magic, but he thought he was at least good enough to pull off a lesser form. The trick was levitating earth underneath the user and to control as well as maintain the floating bit of earth so the user could effectively fly around on a bit of earth. The advance form also included levitating a bunch of other smaller rocks that you could then throw at the enemy, but that was for another time. All Krayt wanted to do was fly around or even hover for a couple seconds.

Krayt pressed his hands against the ground and shouted, "Soil of the Winds!"

The earth rumbled beneath Krayt's feet for a moment then stopped. Krayt looked around confused, "Well, that wasn't suppose to-"

Krayt was fifteen in the air before he noticed he was off the ground. Then he came crashing back down with a large thump. He rolled to his back and managed to wheeze out, "Happen . . ."

The next thing Krayt heard was running footsteps along with a voice, "Big Brother, are you okay?!"

Before he could say anything, the young girl fell to her knees and drove one of them into Krayt's gut who let out a pained gasp.

"Less now since you drove one of your knees into my stomach." Krayt wheezed.

"I'm sorry, we saw you fly into the air and come back down hard, we thought you were dead for a second."

"Yeah, this reminds me of the time that I almost fell to my death after getting your kite out that stinking tree." Krayt joked.

"Umm . . . Big Brother?"

Krayt looked into Neri's deep blue eyes, "Yes? What is it?"

"I don't have a kite, and you haven't fallen out of that tree for as far as I know."

Krayt's face became extremely perplexed, "What? Really? I could have sworn you had a kite."

"Kid, Neri has never played with a kite in her life." Cyton and Agitha had ceased their running when they saw Krayt was still alive. Once Cyton was close enough, he offered Krayt a hand. Krayt took it and was soon on his feet, brushing the dust off him.

"Strange, I could have sworn that she had a kite . . . Oh yeah, I remember now. I had a dream about that, Neri got her kite stuck in a tree and I went up and got it."

"Strange dream. Anyway, time to come inside, it's time for dinner." Agitha said cheerfully. And with that the subject was dropped and everyone went inside for dinner.

Highway August 1st, 9:11 AM

The family had gotten up early that day and went over the plan for the day. It was simple: Go to town and enjoy themselves while Cyton did business. Everyone but Cyton liked this but he had little choice in the matter.

Krayt helped Cyton hook up the cart to the two horses and soon after they were on their way. Neri and Agitha sat in the carriage while Cyton and Krayt shared a seat at the front. As they went along, Krayt listened to Cyton about the money system and examples of purchases he might make. Krayt hadn't yet learned to read but he could count so Cyton told him to ask each shop owner what the price was before deciding to buy it. In a last ditch effort to make sure Krayt wouldn't get into trouble with money, Cyton and Agitha reluctantly allowed Krayt to take care of Neri as long as she made sure to tell Krayt the price of the items. Agitha needed to do some shopping herself, they lived on a farm but there wasn't always edible produce.

When Cyton had finished talking, Krayt drew his smaller knife and reached back into the cart for a piece of wood that he had thrown in there. He once again reversed the knife and started carving, the bumpy road made it a bit of a challenge but not that much. Krayt's goal today was to try and make a humanoid shape, decide later if it was going to be male or female.

The cart rattle along quite quickly but did not bump or jostle at any point, the road was extremely smooth and well maintained. After what seemed about an hour, rocky hills surrounded them but soon opened up on a town. A town that sat in a valley on the edge of a vast lake. Many buildings of various sizes and colors filled the valley and gave it a beautiful look. The most prominent building sat near the middle of town, a large cathedral of sorts. Its spires rose above everything else in town, but a strange sight caught Krayt's attention. A strange tall building, not nearly the size of the cathedral but it rose above a majority of the other buildings. Its bright white walls and shining red roofs peaked his attention.

But before he could ask about the red roofed building, Cyton put a hand on Krayt's shoulder, "Kid, welcome to the best town in all of Earthland, Magnolia!"

()()()()

The ride into town was a quick one down from the rocky terrain. The sounds coming from the town could be heard all the way down from the top. Soon they were surrounded on all sides with people going about their daily lives. Cyton called out and waved to a few of the people in the crowd as did Agitha, Neri sat alone in the cart playing with her dolls. Krayt could see a hint of loneliness on her face.

"Can you give me the money now?" Krayt whispered to Cyton.

Cyton pulled two and a half thousand Jewels from his pocket and handed it to Krayt. He took it and quickly pocketed it, then turned to Neri and smiled, "Hey Neri, lets go get some candy."

The girl's face light up with a smile, "Yay, candy!"

Before the two went their own way, Cyton told them to meet back up with them in front of the cathedral at one. Krayt followed Neri as she made her way to the near candy shop. He tried to keep up but soon the crowd of moving people became very dense and he lost sight of her. It was then he was afraid, not for himself but for Neri. He used his smaller size to worm his way through the crowd and search for Neri. He started calling out her name but his voice was drowned out the noised around him.

After a half hour of searching, tears began to well up in his eyes. He had been given one task, to take care of his younger sister and he lost her after three minutes of walking. He felt like a failure, he started to worry that she might have been kidnapped or worse. He was on the verge of bawling when a strange thing happened to him. A voice in his head, it was guiding him, giving him directions. It was him thinking, or more like something was whispering in his head. He quickly followed the directions, a left, left, right, second corner on the left, then straight ahead. Soon after the voice stopped, Krayt started to hear yelling and a familiar crying voice.

Krayt shoved his way through the crowd that had gathered around the screaming voices. Once he broke through the crowd, he learned who was screaming. Two boys about his age, one with black hair, deep blue eyes similar to Neri's, and was shirtless with a dark blue fairy symbol on the right side of his chest. The other boy had pink hair, a white checkered scarf, a red shirt, tan pants and black eyes that seemed natural and unnatural. Neri was crying off to the side of the two screaming boys, clutching her knee.

"I'm telling you we should go look for her parents that way!" Screamed the pink haired boy.

"And I'm saying we need to go that way!" The black hair boy yelled back before butting heads with the pink hair one.

Krayt ran over to Neri and crouched beside her, "Are you alright Neri?"

Neri took one look at Krayt before wrapping her arms around him, "Big Brother, I was so scared!" She bawled.

Krayt started rubbing her back to make her feel better, eventually the crying subsided but her head was still buried in his shoulder. Krayt looked up at the two boys who were currently staring at him.

He ignored them and gently pushed Neri away, it was then he noticed Neri had a scrape on her knee. He inspected the scrape closely, it wasn't horrible but blood was flowing out of it, "What happened to you?"

"One of those boys pushed me into the ground." She pointed in the direction of the pink and black haired boys.

Krayt rose to his feet as anger swelled inside of him, "Who did it?" His voice carried a threatening tone. The two boys immediately pointed to one another and soon after started yelling at each other once again.

Deciding this was getting no where, Krayt rolled up his sleeves and naturally fell into a combat stance, "If you two can't decide who done it, I'll just have to beat both of you up."

The two boys ceased their argument and turned to Krayt with grins on their faces, "I can agree with that." Replied the black haired boy.

"Don't know who you are but you're gonna regret messing with Fairy Tail." The pink haired kid said while cracking his knuckles.

Then the two boys charged with fists raised, Krayt slowly backpedaled to buy him a couple extra seconds of thinking. To win, Krayt was gonna need to make this a free for all instead of a one versus two. The two boys seem to be angry with each other and wind up in fights easily, the black haired one was a couple steps in front of the other. If Krayt could duck under the first and trip the second, he might be able to make him land on the first kid. That would be enough to cause a spark to light the fire between them, he hoped.

But before Krayt could do anything, a figure ran into the fight and dealt a quick blow to each of the boys faces. They both fell down in a heap clutching their newly bruised faces. Krayt continued to stand in his stance as he looked over this new arrival.

They were female, about his height and maybe a year older than him. She had red hair along with a large braid down her back, brown eyes, a long sleeved white dress with armor over the upper half of her body, brown shoes, and a sword that hung from her waist.

The girl turned toward Krayt who unconsciously took a step back, if she could take both of those both with no trouble, then he was in trouble.

"I'm sorry for my guild members' behavior. I hope you can forgive them." The red haired girl gave a slight bow which took Krayt aback.

"Oh . . . uhhh . . . I guess." Krayt quickly fell out of his combat stance to not provoke the girl.

The girl stepped forward and stuck out her hand, "Erza Scarlet."

Krayt took the hand in a firm handshake, "Krayt. Krayt Riewel."

That second after he grabbed her hand, a vision flashed before his eyes. It was Erza but younger, but in clothing that was little more than a potato sack and screaming. She was being tortured and all Krayt could do was watch. The men around her continued torturing her, without mercy. When it was over, Krayt could see the young Ezra standing in front him with both eyes closed. Blood seeped down from her closed right eye, when tried to reach out and touch her, her eyes opened. The right eye was missing and all that was there was a black hole with more blood seeping out, but after a few seconds an image appeared in her eye. A tall black tower with a green sphere at the top with crystals sticking out of it.

Krayt ripped his hand from the girl grasp, keeled over and vomited. The girl quickly stepped back while Neri ran to his side glaring at the girl, "What did you do to my big brother?!"

"N-nothing, I-I . . ." Erza stammered.

"Your right eye, it's fake, isn't it?" Krayt said after he was finished spewing.

Erza's eyes widened in shock, "H-how did you know?"

Krayt pushed himself to his feet, "I didn't. I had a vision a vision of you being tortured and there was a tower-"

The next thing Krayt knew was that there was now a tip of a sword at his throat, Erza's voice was trembling with fear and rage, "Who are you?"

The two boys had gotten to their feet and saw this scene unfold, they quickly ran over and restrained her. She fought back but this time, she could not seem to overpower them. She continued to scream and thrashed, "Who are you?! How do you know?! Are you stalking me?! Tell me!"

Krayt held up his hands in defense, "I-I don't know. I just had a vision. I don't know!"

Erza continued to thrash around as the two boys continued pulling her away, "She isn't usually like this." The black haired one yelled.

"It would be better if you left, we'll fight another time." The pink haired boy smiled.

Before Krayt turned to leave with Neri, he looked back at the group of three, "I didn't get your names."

"Natsu." The pink haired boy replied.

"Gray." Shouted the black haired one.

And with that, the trio disappeared into the crowd, leaving Krayt, Neri, and Krayt's spewage alone. Neri turned to Krayt, "You have a surefire way of making friends don't you."

"Bite me. . . How's your knee?"

"It's okay. Those two boys apologized after they accidentally bumped into me."

Krayt's face sagged, "Accidentally? And why didn't you tell me that in the first place?"

Neri looked away embarrassed, "Well . . . you looked really cool when you stuck up for me and it made me really happy."

Krayt rubbed his eyes and sighed heavily, "Moving on, lets get your knee cleaned up."

Using some of their money, Krayt bought a small first aid kit and put a bandage over Neri's knee. Krayt made another purchase, he brought two bottled waters for him and Neri. Using the water, Krayt managed to get rid of most bad taste in his mouth. By the time they had finally reached their destination, it was already eleven o'clock.

The candy shop held various colorful of wonderful goodness. Big candy, little candy, candy in the shapes of animals, chocolate, vanilla, toffee, and many more wondrous things. But none of this interested Krayt, his mind kept going over the encounter with Ezra. The vision he had. It was clear to Krayt now that he didn't only have earth magic, but another type of magic as well. He thought it to be mind reading because he could sometimes tell what others were thinking but he dismissed that idea when he thought back to Ezra. What happened with Erza wasn't mind reading, it was a vision of her past. Then he thought again of the voice in his head that lead him to Neri. The more he thought, the more confused he became. He didn't notice himself pick out a small bag of candy and pay for his and Neri's, nor did he realized that he left the shop and was walking down the street.

Krayt finally came to a hypothesis, "What if these strange powers are a thing of my past as well?"

"Big Brother!"

Krayt snapped back to attention from Neri's yelling. The people around him had cleared the road around him. He heard the sound of a cart moving quickly along with a young girl's scream from behind. He turned around to see a runaway cart with a girl inside the cart barreling down the road toward him about half a quarter of a mile in front of him.

"Stone Armor!" Krayt yelled.

A green circle erupted underneath Krayt and the stone road beneath him began to quickly shift and crawl up his legs and around his body. Krayt rearranged his legs in the sprinters position and held both arms out in front of him as far as he could. The rocks quickly encased most of his body and solidified forming one giant piece of rock armor. Moments before the cart hit him, he made a slight adjustment and had his boots encased in rock as well, especially the bottom.

When the cart struck, the rock armor cracked and broke into pieces in some parts but overall held together. Instead of stopping the cart straight out and possibly sending the girl inside flying to her death, he decided to slide along for the ride.

The rocks on his feet kept him grinding along the stone road instead scraping the bottom of his boots off and causing him to fall over backwards. The rock armor kept his in the position it started in so he could gradually slow down the cart. Krayt looked up at the girl in the cart as it continued sliding along.

She had blue hair, hazel eyes, wore a silver necklace and a yellow shirt with a red cuff and line that went down the middle of her shirt. His eyes became transfixed on the girl, he just couldn't manage to pull his eyes away from her. His heart began to race and his face became tinged with red.

"Help me!" The girl pleaded.

Krayt quickly shook his head and brought his senses back to reality, "Oh right, forgot about that."

Krayt began to dig his feet deeper into the ground by using his magic, also continuously adding more rocks to his armor giving it more weight. The cart began to quickly slow down and finally grind to a halt. Once Krayt was certain it wasn't going to roll anymore, he released his control over the stone. Instead of coming off in chunks, it turned all to sand and fell harmlessly to the ground. The sand spread out over the ground but it still made a mound that went up halfway to Krayt's shins.

The girl in the cart had finally calmed down and now looked to her savior, "Thank you for saving me."

Krayt looked up at the girl in the cart and blushed, "It was nothing really."

"My name is Levy McGarden, what's yours?"

"Um . . ." Krayt wasn't able to answer due to his tongue feeling like it was in a knot.

Levy giggled, "You don't even remember your name?"

Krayt laughed, "Oh, if only you knew."

"Knew what?"

"Nothing, let me help you down." Krayt took a hold of Levy's hand and almost pulled it back out of embarrassment but managed to power through it. Although as Levy was about to jump down, Krayt made a wrong step backwards in the uneven sand and fell backwards taking Levy down with him.

Krayt's head managed to land in the soft sand preventing any injury to his skull. Less than a second later, Krayt felt something land on top of him. He assumed it was Levy due to the fact he was holding onto her hand rather tightly when he fell. But he also felt something strange on his lips, something soft pressing up against them. He opened his eyes to find Levy on top of him with her eyes closed, kissing him.

His eyes widened in shock at this situation, he didn't know what to do. He kind of didn't want it to end but the way his day was going, this girl was going to end up hating him as well. Krayt was about to start pushing her off when her eyes flickered open. Her eyes had the same initial widening reaction, Levy quickly sat up and moved off Krayt to the sand. She sat blushing, looking away from Krayt. After sitting up, Krayt stared at the ground in embarrassment.

"Krayt."

Levy turned to look at him, "What?"

Krayt took a deep breath before continuing, "My name is Krayt. Just thought you should know."

Levy burst out laughing, holding her stomach. She laughed so hard that she began to cry. Krayt merely sat there with a puzzled look on his face as she laughed. Finally after a minute of continuous laughter, she finally stopped and wiped the tears from her eyes, "I-I have no idea why that was so funny. It just was."

Krayt's puzzled look left his face, it was replaced with his embarrassed look, "Sorry about kissing you."

Levy's face turned slightly red as well, "It's okay, it was a accident."

"I thought first kisses for girls were very important."

"What makes you think I haven't kissed a boy before?" She said with an irritated tone.

"Well- I was only assuming and uh . . ." He started.

Levy giggled slightly again, "You're really funny, you know that right?"

Krayt rubbed the back of his head, "Well, not really no."

Levy smiled again before standing and brushing the sand off herself, "For the record, it was my first. I could think of worse people to have it with."

Krayt didn't know whether to take that as a compliment or not. Instead of dwelling on the idea, he stood as well and began removing the sand that had fallen inside his cloths. He looked back up the road and grimaced slightly, the road was wrecked where Krayt had dug his feet into the ground, and patches of the road were missing completely, probably the chunks that had made his rock armor heavier.

"I hope I don't have to clean that up." Krayt said as he poured some sand out of his right boot followed by the left.

Levy laughed again, "I should probably go find the man who's cart this is, I think he might want it back."

Krayt shrugged his shoulders, "Probably."

Levy started walking back up the road but turned around before leaving the area, "We should talk sometime again."

Krayt's face remained tinted red, "Y-yeah."

Levy walked on leaving a blushing Krayt by himself. He stood there until she disappeared out of sight. He continued standing there as Neri tugged on his sleeve, trying to get his attention, "Big Brother? Big Brother?"

"Hmm?" He responded still looking the way Levy disappeared.

"We still have time to walk around, we should probably go before people start asking questions on who destroyed the road." She continued.

"Hmm."

"Are we going?"

"Hmm."

Neri began to pull on Krayt harder and after pulling hard enough, Krayt slowly complied, scraping his feet along the road as he went. Once he was far enough away, Krayt snapped out of his trance and walked normally beside Neri. Although, even though he was now walking normally, Neri was still suspicious about the red tint across Krayt's face.

"What happened after you stopped the cart, Big Brother?" She asked with suspicion in her voice.

"Uh . . . I um . . . helped the person inside the cart get out." He responded with a bit of nervousness.

"I didn't get a good look in the cart, but the person inside was a girl about your age right?"

"Not bad for not being able to get a good look." Krayt responded trying to sound impressed.

"And she had blue hair right?"

"Why do you ask?"

Neri reached up and plucked a long blue hair off his shoulder, she held it in front of Krayt, her face filled with a hint of anger and annoyance. She pulled Krayt down to her eye level by pulling slowly on his braid, "Care to explain why there is a hair of that girl on your shoulder?"

Sweat appeared on Krayt's forehead, "Well, when I-I helped her down from the wagon, she fell on me an-"

That was all it took to set Neri off, with her free hand she slapped Krayt across the face and yell, "Big Brother is a jerk!"

Then she ran off in a random direction leaving a red checked Krayt confused and bewildered by what just happened. He noticed a couple adults around him suppressing their laughter as he stood there. After a couple seconds, Krayt managed to recover his wits and sprint after the girl.

Not only was Neri smaller in leg size, but Krayt was much more athletic by far. He managed to catch up with Neri in a matter of seconds. But she refused to talk to him until he used the rest of their money to buy Neri a super sized ice cream with almost every flavor available. Once she was happily eating, Krayt dragged her to the cathedral and noticed the time to be thankfully twelve thirty. For the remaining time, Krayt slept the minutes away on a park bench.

After some complaining from Neri, Krayt reluctantly laid down his head on her lap thinking, "I don't get girls. Some hate you seven seconds after they meet you, others think everything you say is funny, and even some hate you then want-no insist that you to use their laps as pillows. Women are the greatest mystery in the universe."

Slowly his thoughts began to fade, as he drifted off to sleep. But before the blackness consumed him, he heard Neri's voice one last time, "Big Brother, you are allowed to only be my knight."

He felt something soft touch his forehead just before the drowsiness overtook him, pulling him into its sweet embrace.

Highway1:37 PM

Krayt could still feel his head resting on something soft, but now he was gently rocking from side to side. His eyes slowly fluttered open, the first thing he noticed was Neri's sleeping face looming over him. The next thing he noticed was that he was currently in a cart that was no longer in Magnolias. Krayt slowly sat up carefully, as not to bump heads with Neri. Once he was up, he saw Cyton and Agitha sitting in the front of the wagon, sitting silently. Neri started to fall over but Krayt quickly caught her, he let her read rest in his lap to repay the kindness she did for him.

"So how was your first day in the city kid?" Cyton asked Krayt once he looked back and saw the him awake.

Krayt recounted the days events, "Well, I lost sight of Neri for a half hour, nearly got into a fight, made a redhead girl with a sword hate me, saved another blue haired girl from a runaway cart-"

"Was that girl's name Levy by chance?" He asked Krayt.

"Yes actually. How did you know?"

Cyton rubbed the back of her head sheepishly, "I guess I have you to thank for stopping my cart."

Krayt scoffed, "You're kidding me? Why was it barreling down a hill with her in it anyway?"

"Well, we used to know her parents before they passed away. We kept in contact with her a bit and when she saw me I decided to give her a lift. We stopped at one of the places I needed to go, but it was on a hill. Something must have been loose because when I came back outside, the horses were still there but the cart was gone. Some odd minutes later, Levy comes back up the hill and says someone saved the cart and her. Never guessed it was you."

Krayt leaned back and let his neck go limp so he was staring in a backward up direction, "Well, I seem to get involved with things wherever I go."

"For better or worse?"

"That has yet to be decided. Hey Agitha, how come you've been silent this whole time?"

Cyton brought his finger to his lip to usher silence, "The women are asleep kid."

"Ah, seems everyone is tuckered out."

Silence loomed between the two of them for a time until Cyton asked, "So how did you like the city?"

Krayt scratched his chin, "Prefer the country in all honesty."

When they arrived home, Krayt helped Cyton unhook the cart. Then very carefully plucked Neri out of the cart and carried her inside to her room. After covering her up, he grabbed his bathrobe (which was also Cyton's when he was younger) and went to take a bath. The hot water helped him work out all those cramps in his muscles and helped him relax. Krayt stood up and opened the window to let the summer air flow in and help him relax more.

As he opened the window, a curious figure caught his attention. It appeared to be humanoid in shape but what was strange is that it seemed to be made out of metal. Not a man wearing metal armor, but a man made of gray metal. The person continued to stand in the waist high grass, remaining silent, and appeared to be looking over the house.

"Can I help you sir?" Krayt called out.

The person took one look at him before turning around and walking off into the grass without another word. What was weird was that the man made a clanking noise as he walked off. Within a minutethe figure was out of sight, "Well that was weird . . . to be fair, he was probably weirded out by the naked ten year old yelling at him."

Krayt returned to the water and let the water soak into his skin. He loved it here, it didn't matter what his life before this was, he planned to stay here forever. And for five more months he did, until it came clanking back.

The Passing five months

The passing five months went by quickly for Krayt, each day quickly became a blur but a pleasurable blur. He bonded with his new family and grew closer with them, he felt like he had been with all his life although it had only been half a year. Krayt learned how to cook and read slightly from Agitha, Neri taught him how to act like a kid and have fun, and Cyton taught him how to be a man and be responsible.

During the five months, Krayt began to spar with Cyton to keep both of their skills fresh. Over time Krayt managed to commit his fighting style to memory, he seemed to focus on speed and power but lacked defense of any type. That's where his earth magic came into play, utilizing the earth around him Krayt could make armor, have a small rock barrier erupt from the ground in front of him, and use stone pillars to keep himself mobile and light on his feet.

Krayt also managed to perfect Soil in the Winds to a degree. Instead of having a single uniform mass suspending him, he splint it into two smaller chunks that would keep him afloat by keeping under his feet. Over time Krayt managed to own his own personal flare to it, he started having small chunks of rock float around his body to be used as projectiles or to be used in case the rocks that were supporting him were destroyed. The only problem was that he had failed to actually fly with them. He could hover at the current height he was or move down and side to side but not up.

Neri developed a close relationship with Krayt, she would follow him around a lot and watch him work the fields, bringing water to him when he needed it. During nights filled with thunder and lighting, Neri would slip into Krayt's room and into his bed. He didn't mind, in fact he was a bit scared of the lighting himself, it stirred painful memories in his subconscious. Krayt became attached to Neri as well, he liked acting like a big brother, protecting her from others and cheering her up when she was down. They were like brother and sister.

Krayt became Agatha's right hand man in the kitchen, helping prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner. He always handled the more labor intensive work such as cutting and peeling so Agitha could focus on adding the right amount of ingredients and perfect the dish. During some 'lazy days', Agitha would sit down with him and teach him how to read. Krayt took to it slowly, learning to read was much harder than he thought but through determination he could start to make it through children's books on his own. And on some days where his help was not need on the farm, he would help Agitha out with her garden. Krayt became fixated on the all the different colored flowers, he felt at peace whenever he looked over the flower bed.

With Cyton, Krayt not only increased his skill with a dagger but became physically and magically stronger with each passing day. The once well built Krayt became muscular and able to work longer and faster. Cyton was the also the one who taught him that it was a man's job to protect women. He wasn't saying that they are all glass dolls, but if a woman was in trouble and in need of help, it was a man's job to protect her from harm no matter how their relationship may be. With the exception if they were trying to hurt him.

He also made trips back to Magnolia with his family. But he never saw hide or hair of Levy, Natsu, Gray or Erza. He was thankful for not running into Erza because who knows what she would do to him if she saw him again. Although he was disappointed that he didn't see Levy, he had made an agreement with her to meet up again sometime but that was easier said than done. He actively sought Natsu and Gray to finish what he had started before, he was stronger than he was when they first met and was anxious to prove it but he could never managed to find the two boys.

This period of time did not leave Krayt without questions of his own, at times when he was alone with his thought he began to hear whispers in his head. He assumed it was memoires from his past trying to seep back into his conscious mind but over time he became less unsure. He began to feel different in a way he couldn't explain, he felt like he could sense what was going on around him. He could sometimes predict what someone was about to say or do, he then started feeling emotions. He could start sensing happiness, sadness, anger and fear and a variety of others. He kept these things to himself because he didn't want his new family thinking he was a nut. But it nagged at him a lot, his thoughts drifted on wondering what he was like before. What he didn't realize was how soon all his questions would be answered.

Riewel Household, December 9th 5:56 PM

Krayt and Neri came inside the house from the snowy outside dressed in heavy clothing and scarfs. Krayt stripped to his t-shirt and shorts he wore underneath his winter clothes as Neri ran upstairsto change. His stool next to the counter was already sitting there as he strolled up.

But before he could step up on it, Agitha put a hand on his shoulder and shook her head, "It's alright, I'll prepare dinner tonight. You just go to the living room and relax. I'm already almost done."

He reluctantly complied and slipped into the living room where he found Cyton tending the fire place. Krayt slumped down on the couch and stretched out. When Cyton finish poking the fire and adding some logs, he retired to his chair next to the fire.

"So how was it outside?" He asked Krayt.

"Well, snowy and cold. What else you expect from winter?"

Cyton shook his head, "I meant did you enjoy yourself building snow forts and snowmen?"

"I built a rock man."

Cyton's facepalmed, "Kid, you are too interested with magic."

"Bite me."

"You're saying that increasingly often of late."

"Am I?' Krayt asked.

"Yes an-" Cyton started.

"Boys, Neri, time for dinner!" Agitha called out throughout the house.

"That was quick." Krayt said as he quickly got to his feet.

The Riewel family quickly gathered around the table and settled in. Tonight the menu was chicken with gravy mash potatoes and cooked carrots. Conversation at the table started immediately before any of them sat down. It shifted around from what happened with everyone today and transitioned to having to make family trip to Magnolia soon so everyone could pick gifts out for each other for the winter holidays.

Then the topic moved to Krayt, "So kid, tomorrow marks the day that you have spent more or less half a year with us."

"Really? I haven't been keeping track. Time really flies doesn't it?" Krayt replied between bites of food.

"Big Brother, don't forget about your bag." Neri reminded Krayt.

"Oh yeah, tomorrow I'm going to throw that bag of my mine into the barn's storage."

"You sure? That might have been important to you." Agitha pointed out.

Krayt nodded, "Sure but it might have been. I don't need anything in it anymore. I have a new family now."

"Don't you still wonder who you were?" Neri asked.

"Not really anymore. I kind of don't want to remember, it might change me for the worse."

"Well whatever happens, you are welcome to stay with us, memories or not." Cyton said after taking a sip of his drink.

Krayt smiled, "Thanks." He pushed his plate away and got up from his chair, "I'm really tired today, I'm hitting the hay early tonight."

The family said its goodbyes at Krayt ran up the stairs to his room. Inside he changed into his pajamas and slipped under his warm covers. Snow continued to fall outside his window, the sunlight reflected slightly off a spec of snow giving each a light glow. Krayt's eyes slowly began to close, becoming ever increasingly heavier. He could feel his heart beating slowly as he drifted to sleep, but right before he fell asleep he heard that familiar sinister voice inside his head.

"It is time, Slugworm."

()()()()

Krayt's eyes flashed open as he shot up from the muddy ground. Rain fell on and around him, lightning flashed and thunder roared from the sky. Strong winds whipped around picking up any small objects it could manage. He quickly recognized his surroundings, he was still on his family's property, just in front the barn entrance. This night seemed familiar to him as he looked around, he couldn't place his finger on it.

That's when he saw him.

A lone figure trudging through the mud, about his height and in that familiar clothing he had wore before the shirt was destroyed by the wolf.

He saw himself make his way onto to the property and move toward the door. But before he reached the stairs, he stopped. He continued to watch as his past self stood there only a few steps from his family. Then he turned around.

His past self started walking away from the house and away from his family. Krayt wanted to scream at him(self) but when he did, no voice came out. He tried to keep screaming until the figure disappeared into the blackness of the stormy night. A loud crack drew Krayt's attention to the fence, then another crack rang out and he saw a piece of the fence fly at the house.

The fence hit a window next to the door and shattered it. A second later, he heard both Agitha and Cyton scream out. Krayt ran as fast as he could to the house, he tried to open the door but it was locked. He bashed and bashed the door for a good minute until it finally gave away. What he saw inside made his heart lurched.

Neri was hanging limply in Cyton's and Agitha's arms with glass shards sticking out of her small body, a pool of fresh blood lay beneath her on the floor. Her eyes were still a deep blue but now was void of any life, her skin was pale. Krayt moved over to his sister's side and fell to his knees, tears flowed endlessly from his eyes.

"Why?" Krayt started, "Why is this damn dream happening?!"

"Because it is what would have happened, if you had not decided to stop at the house"

The scene around Krayt vanished and was replaced with a vast grassy plain. Krayt whipped around to see Terentatek standing not five feet from him. He unconsciously took a step back from the man in black robes to only bump into someone who wasn't there a second ago. Shield moved Krayt to his side as he took a step forward, silence loomed between them the three of them for a time before any of them spoke.

"It has been a while Terentatek." Shield said first.

"Indeed." Terentatek replied with his demonic voice.

Then something happened Krayt did not expect, they both started taking steps until they both stood a good couple of yards away from Krayt. Krayt's gaze shifted between the two of them before they both spoke in unison, "It is time for you to choose."

"Will you return to your past and resume it as a Force user?" Asked Terentatek.

"Or will you continue your path as a magic user?" Shield asked.

"What is the Force?"

"All you need to know now is that it is a immense power that surpasses your Earth Magic."

"But as you are now, if all its knowledge is returned, you will be consumed with power and greed. That is why Terentatek wanted to twist your mind so you could remember how to use the Force." Shield added.

"Does the Force have to do with all the sensing I have been doing these last couple of months?"

Terentatek merely nodded, "Then I can just eventually get the hang of it over time again, right?"

This time, Terentatek shook his head, "No, without the proper training, you will never know how to use it to its full potential and it will become lost to you."

"You must choose either to continue down the path of magic and lose all your memories of the Force forever." Started Shield.

"Or return to the Force and forget everything you learned or ever knew about your magic ability." Terentatek finished.

Krayt thought for a moment but came to a decision pretty quickly, "Well, Earth magic of course. It will allow me to stay with my family without changing."

"Not true." Began Shield, "When you choose this path, parts of your memory will be restored and you will remember your mission. You will abandon your new family and continue on what you originally were going to do."

"Why?"

"Because it is who you are."

"Who I was!" Krayt shouted back.

"Alternatively . . ." Krayt turned back around to Terentatek, "You could regain your knowledge of the Force and none of your memories if that is your choice. You will be able to make your own choices and not worry about any past obligations. Although, what you will become might not be well liked in your new family's eyes."

"So either I can continue magic and leave my family or regain my ability to use 'The Force' but possibly alienate myself from my family. Those are the options laid out in front of me right?"

"Yes." There voices came in unison.

"Why only these choices, for what reason have I only been given two?" His answer shocked and surprised him, Terentatek threw off his heavy hood as Shield removed his cowl and hood.

They were himself, or at least older versions of himself by maybe seven or eight years. Shield looked more like him, his braid was absent from the side of his head and still retained his Fairy Tail mark on his right forearm which Krayt recognized from the giant white and red colored building in Magnolia. But other than those features he looked just like a older version of himself.

Terentatek on the other hand was much different, his skin was discolored and his hair was messy and greasy. There were too many scars on his face alone to count, his face constantly had a angry look. But the most notable change was the eyes, the natural deep green had been replaced with a sickening sinister yellow color that only held hate and contempt for the world.

Their voices talked in unison once again, "There are only two paths you may take, therefore are only two of us."

Krayt's fist clenched in anger, his gaze was fixed upon the ground, "You're both wrong."

Both Shield's and Terentatek's face tilted slightly in confusion, "There is aren't two here, there are three. Terentatek, Shield and me."

Krayt's head snapped up, "This is my life! I will make it what I want it to be!"

He spat in both directions toward each person, "That's what I think of your paths! I am Krayt Riewel, and this is my decision!"

Krayt's dream began to crack like glass, first it started at the base of his feet but quickly spread out over the landscape.

Terentatek, Shield and even the sky started to crack. Then it all shattered and once the pieces were gone, all that Krayt was left with was a feminine voice that he instantly recognized even though he lost his memories.

"All I wanted for Ryu, was for him to be free. So that he may find his own destiny. And build his own life."

A tear slid down Krayt's cheek, "Etro . . ."

Krayt's Room, 8:46 AM

Krayt's eyes slowly flickered opened, he sat up slowly as he rubbed his head, "What the hell was I just dreaming about? I can't seem to recall except it was important somehow."

A knock at his door brought his mind back to reality, Cyton walked in without another knock with a worried look on his face, "Get dressed, we may have trouble."

Krayt flew out of bed and to his dresser, he quickly redressed him in light clothing that was flexible. Cyton quickly left his room and made his way down the stairs to the kitchen. Krayt finished putting on a t-shirt and slipped on his dark tan pants that he had once arrived in to this house. Just before he ran out the door, he slung on his old bag so he could throw it in the barn later then made his way down stairs.

Cyton had already left the house by the time Krayt had made it down stairs. Krayt looked around for his dagger but couldn't seem to remember where he had left it. He continued searching until he heard a commotion from outside. Krayt ran out the front door in a matter of seconds and what he saw sent chills up his back.

Three identical metal men that he had seen before five months before were standing in his front yard, Cyton was slumped on the snowy ground but was trying to get up. His sword was in the hands of one of the metal men. Agitha was protecting Neri by placing herself between Neri and the metal men.

The metal men were really strange, they couldn't have been men in armor unless all three of those men were extremely skinny. They had glowing yellow slits for eyes and had strange markings all over their armor. Their height ended above an average man's, they also emitted small lights all over their metallic body. On their chest, Krayt could see a strange symbol that somewhat reminded him of a spider web. In one of the metal mans hand was a large wooden club, another held Cyton's sword, but in the third's hand was a strange weapon that Krayt had never seen before.

These guys already proved themselves to be 'trouble.' Krayt quickly looked around for a weapon of some type and found it beside the stairs, the first piece of wood Krayt had attempted to carve. He quickly picked it up charged the closest one which had a club. The small piece of wood broke over the man's chest, although aside from staggering slightly they seemed unaffected.

The man who he hit turned and looked down at him, it spoke with a voice that didn't seem humanly possible, "Query: Is this all the organics you have seen on this plot of land?"

"Statement: Correct, aside from the organics in the red structure, although they do not appear sentient." Responded the one with a sword.

The wooden club was swiftly and abruptly swung striking him in the chest, causing Krayt to be tossed back, his bag that was hanging from one shoulder was knocked from his possession. Krayt landed on his back in a daze, his thoughts were jumbled but he was surprised by the amount of force behind the swing and their strange speech pattern. He managed to look over at the group to see the one with the sword approaching Neri and Agitha.

Krayt's focus snapped back, he thrusted his hand at the metal group and yelled, "Rock Barrage!"

Earth all around Ryu shifted before large chunks of rocks flew at the group of men and hit them for maximum effect. Agitha and Neri saw the barrage coming and managed to leap out of the way a few seconds before it hit. The rocks slammed into the metal men giving them a few dents and causing one of them to topple over.

The metal man with the strange weapon turned toward him and pointed its weapon at him, "Angry Statement: This organic dinged up my armor, he dies first!"

Just before the metal man used his weapon, Cyton brought his foot around and kicked it in the back of the knee with his steel toed boot. The weapon fired off a bolt of light that whizzed by inches away from Krayt's head. The metal man fell to one knee momentarily before changing its sights on Cyton, but before it could do anything else a large rock broke over the back of the man's head.

"Old man, get Agitha and Neri in the house now!" Krayt shouted.

"Bu-"

Krayt used more magic to have a large group of decent sized rocks float around his body, "Don't argue, just go! There is nothing you can do but keep the others safe!"

Cyton swore under his breath before quickly ushering his family into the house. The metal man with the club was hot on their heels but a large rock to the back of its head change that. The one that had fallen down with Cyton's sword was back up and now charging Krayt with it raised high.

"Stone Pillar!" Krayt was launched into the air by a large column of stone that appeared under his feet, "Soil of the Winds!" Two large chunks of rocks broke off from the pillar and landed underneath Krayt's feet keeping him afloat.

The three metal men recovered and formed a tight cluster, "Observation: It appears this organic has control of the element of Earth."

"Offensive Question: What gave it away, bolt brain?" Asked the one with the energy projectile weapon.

"Character Analysis: This organic appears to have a braid seen on Jedi Padawans."

Krayt had enough of this guys, just before he sent another large barrage he had a funny thought, "Obvious Observation: You are all about to be crushed by rocks."

All rocks floating around Krayt flew at the group of metal men and knocked them all all over onto their backs. The rocks continued piling on top of the metal men, covering them completely. But just before they were completely covered, the one with the energy projectile launcher aimed and fired at him.

The bolt struck one of Krayt levitating stones keeping him afloat and caused him to plummet twenty feet and black out when he hit the ground. The next set of things that happened were a blur to him, Neri ran out of the house closely followed by Cyton and Agitha trying to stop her. But as they started running over to him, the metal men were already out of the pile of rocks and grabbed onto his family before throwing them all to the ground.

Krayt was still recovering from the fall but started crawling over toward his family, "L-Leave them alone you bastards."

The one with the club notice Krayt crawling over, it trudged over to Krayt before bringing its club down on the back of his head with a sickening crack.

Neri cried out as she saw her brother go completely limp, as he laid there on the snowy ground not ten feet from her, unmoving. Tears streamed down her cheek as she began to cry, Cyton and Agitha also saw this event and could only stare in horror as their adopted son laid dead on the ground. The metal man with the club slowly walked back over as Cyton tried charging the thing that killed his son, but a metallic hand swiftly connected with his face causing him to back down. The three of them looked at Krayt with tears in their eyes, not wanting to believe what just happened.

"Enjoyable Statement: The organic is 'dead as a doornail.'" Everyone's eyes shifted back to the metal men.

"You piece of shit, you killed my son!" Cyton screamed out.

"Daddy, what's going to happen to us now?" Neri asked with fear flooding her voice.

"Don't worry, we'll be fine." Agitha reassured her.

"Correction: No, in a few minutes you will all be dead."

"B-but what have we done to you?" Agitha frantically asked.

"Statement: We need a base to set ourselves up in, one were few organics pass through and provides ample shelter. We will burn your bodies and kill any other organic that walks onto the property. You organics need to be eliminated from the metaphorical picture to keep our existence a secret."

"Please." Cyton begged, "Kill me but let my wife and kid go. I beg of you."

"Conclusive Statement: We need to eliminate all organics that learn of us. But just for you, we will let you watch your family die, starting with the young one."

The metal man with the energy weapon raised it to Neri's head. But before it could fire, a snap-hissing sound filled their ears before a flash of white and black cut through the metal man horizontally through the stomach and then vertically down from the head. The metal man fell into four piece in front of the Riewel family, behind the fallen thing was Krayt holding two blades of light erupting from the two metal cylinders.

And boy did he look pissed off.

One minute earlier

Ryu

Ryu Darkson

Ryu Krayt Darkson

Everything came flooding back into Ryu's mind at once. The Force, the Jedi, the Republic, the Unyielding Dawn above the planet Graylin 44, the portal, Tenrou Island, Mavis, Wendy and Jellal, and even his dream last night with Terentatek and Shield. Everything was back, including his distasteful personality.

Ryu looked up from his prone position on the ground, the droids had lined up his family and were probably preparing to execute them. He looked around for his bag and found it to be right next to him. Inside he found what he was looking for, his two lightsabers. Once they were in his hands, he slowly started trudging his way over to the group.

The back of his head throbbed with pain but that was dwarfed by his current rage for the droids. Once he was close enough, the one with the blaster raised it to Neri's head but before it could fire, Ryu activated his sabers and dealt a horizontal slash to its midsection quickly follow with a vertical slash cutting it down the middle. The droid fell apart seconds later where the orange glow of molten metal marked it.

The droid with the club took another swing at him but before it could even get halfway to Ryu, it was hit by an incredible amount kinetic energy that erupted from Ryu's Force Blast. The droids armor buckled and was sent flying into the air, it landed a good twenty meters away. Ryu snapped his attention to the remaining droid, it had abandoned sword and was now reaching for the blaster pistol close to its feet.

Ryu quickly slashed the blaster in half and then began to take apart the droid in front of him. First he cut both arms off the droid at the shoulders, then followed up with a double slash that cut across its chest and burned the Separatist symbol in its chest (The one that reminded Krayt of a spider web), and then severed the legs above the knee. As the droid fell to the ground, Ryu crossed his lightsabers into a X and severed the droids head. The head rolled away from the body and stopped in front of his family.

The second droid that had been hit by a Force Blast had survived the blow and now was charging back at Ryu. In response, Ryu threw both his sabers straight at the oncoming droid. The sabers flew straight into the droids chest and sunk into it. After a few seconds of standing still, the droid fell to its knees. Ryu walked over, planted his foot on a lower part of the droid's body and pulled out his sabers while kicking the droid to the side.

Ryu turned toward his 'family', their eyes were wide as dinner plates. They could not believe what just happened, they merely just stared in shock. He knew he couldn't stay with them any longer, he had past obligations that he had to fulfil. Shield was right, it was who he was. Ryu moved to his bag and slung it over his shoulder.

Then without another word, he started to leave. He thought it better to leave now, he didn't have time for this thing he called a 'family'. He had things to do and he knew where to find it, Magnolia.

Neri cried out, "Big Brother, where are you going?!"

Ryu stopped and turned around slowly, his eyes were still the same dark green but now instead of happiness and peace, his eyes were full of disconnection and contempt, "I am not your brother."

Neri was struck hard, his voice was cold and held no love for her. Tears began flowing from her eyes, "W-What do you mean?"

"I am Ryu Krayt Darkson, a Jedi like my family before me. You are not my family."

Everyone else was struck hard by this, Krayt or now he called himself Ryu had been part of their family for half a half a year now. As short as it was, they had grown to consider him their son. Now, he claimed that he wanted to have no part of them.

Neri stood up and ran at Ryu, "Big Brother, please!"

Neri was thrown back by an invisible force as Ryu thrust an arm forward. Not with the same armor buckling pressure but enough to knock off her feet. She landed back next to her parents with a minor scratch on her arm.

Tears were now streaming down Neri's cheeks, not from the pain of the scratch but from her brother abandoning her. She stood back up, tears still streamed down her cheeks but now her face was filled with anger, "Does the time spent with us mean nothing to you?!"

For some reason, this struck Ryu in the heart, hard. He couldn't formulate a response to her question, he felt ashamed and regret, two things he had rarely ever felt. He stood there in the cold snow, trying to formulate a response.

"Does it?!" She shouted again.

Ryu didn't know, he was back to his old shelf but did a part of the six months still reside inside him? Did he actually still care for his adopted for his family? Did he love them?

"I don't kn-"

"Self destruct sequence activated. Count down from ten, nine-"

Ryu started running when he looked back, the Riewel family didn't know what was going on but once they saw Ryu run so did they.

"Eight-"

Whirring and clicking sounds could be heard from each of the droids chassis's. Ryu quickly increased his pace to get away from the blast area.

"Seven-"

Ryu heard a shriek and turned around to see Neri laying face down in the dirt after tripping over the severed droids head. His brain told him to keep moving his legs away from the blast but his heart made him pause.

"Six-"

He was conflicted, he could either try and save Neri and possibly get blown to kingdom come or run away and never look back. Cyton and Agitha hadn't notice that their daughter now had a face full of dirt.

"Five-"

As much as he tried to deny it, he still cared for Neri, his protective instinct over her was still clear inside his head. He wanted them to forget about him, but not to die, only to move on with their lives without him.

Before he knew it, he dropped his bag and was sprinting full speed back toward Neri, "Son of a Rancor!"

"Four . . . three . . two . . ."

Ryu slid to a stop and wrapped his arms around Neri as she was getting up, pressing her body up against his, "Stone Armor!"

The rock around him moved with lightning speed and quickly engulfed both of them in stone. Ryu kept adding more stone to the armor until he heard the final number, "1 . . . beep."

Three simultaneous explosions sent the two of them flying through the air. Miraculously, the armor held together from the explosion keeping them safe from the resulting fire and concussive force. Ryu braced himself just before they hit the ground, he knew when he hit due to the sudden cease of flying and the now constant rolling feeling he had. After a couple second, the two of them came to a stop, Ryu released his control over the rock and it fell apart around him. What he saw next caused him to blush as red as a crimson lightsaber.

Ryu had pulled Neri close up to him and ended up locking lips with her. His eyes went wide, taking in the shock of what was happening. Seconds later Neri's eyes flickered open and instead of going wide, Ryu could make out her face into a devilish smile.

Neri slowly pulled her head away, still maintaining her smile and whispered into his ear, "Big Brother is a pervert."

She sat up on his stomach giggling, Ryu tried pushing her off but then she did something that half surprised him. She hugged him quite tightly.

"What are yo-"

He stopped mid sentence to realize that she was sobbing on his shoulder, through the sobs he managed to make out, "Thank you for coming back, Big Brother. I knew you still cared about us. I was so scared, like when the wolves surrounded me. But then and now, you risked your life to come to my rescue once again."

Her hug tightened on him, "Thank you . . . Krayt"

Ryu found himself hugging her back, "That's all well and good but, my name isn't Krayt. It's Ryu."

The next thing they both heard was running footsteps and a familiar mans voice, "Neri! Are you okay?!"

Agitha was next to him with tears in her eyes, "Please don't move. We'll come to you."

Neri got off Ryu's stomach and sat in the snow next to him, waiting for her parent to run over. Ryu continued to lay in the snow and let the flakes fall onto his face, he opened his mouth in hope a couple flakes would fall in.

Cyton and Agitha fell to their knees and got in a giant bearhug hug with their daughter. Ryu tilted his head to watch this and couldn't help but smile slightly. He then sat up, looked at the house and grimaced. The front porch had been absolutely wrecked by the explosion. The front windows were also shattered but other than that, the house held together extremely well.

Ryu flipped to his much like he had seen a Gungan do once, and he brushed off the loose dirt on his clothes. Then he felt a hand grip his pants, he look down to see Neri looking up at him, "To make sure you don't go running off again."

Ryu sighed, "Guess I have some explaining to do, don't I?"

Cyton, Agitha, and Neri each gave a simultaneous nod, "Figured as much."

Riewel Household, 3:41 PM

Ryu told them everything, not his made up cover story as recommended by Mavis but his true backstory. He told them about the Jedi, the Force, coming to Earthland, his dreams with his other selves, everything. None of them asked any questions during the story, each of their faces stared intently at Ryu, studying him as he told his story. The process took a long time, long enough for the sun to start sinking back down in the sky.

"And that's my story." Ryu finished.

The three of them remained silent, taking in the story and trying to process it. Cyton was the first to speak up, "Are you sure they didn't just screw up your brain even more when they hit you?"

"Believe me, if I was in your shoes, I wouldn't believe me either. But that is the honest truth."

"I believe him." Neri said.

"As do I." Responded Agitha.

"What?!" Cyton and Ryu came in unison.

"What reason would Ryu have to lie to us, sure I have my questions for him but I believe him." Neri replied confidently.

Ryu was a bit stunned,"Wow, that sounded mature Neri."

The girl smiled as her mother spoke up, "I can always tell if a person is lying. When I was growing up with my brothers, they used to lie to me a lot. I could pick up the signs when they were lying to me. Either he is telling the truth or he is a really elaborate story teller with a amazing poker face."

"If you need more proof, just wait." Ryu ran back into the kitchen and pulled out a small a small cube. He returned back to the living room quickly.

"What's that?" Neri asked.

"A holocron, Jedi techniques have been placed away in here for about the past three thousand nine hundred and seventy odd years. I won't bore you with the details but in short, one of my ancestors sealed away a piece of his soul in here."

Everyones jaw dropped, Cyton spoke up with annoyance in his voice, "Okay, that is where you have crossed the line. A piece of their soul?!"

"Just watch." Ryu focused his Force energy into the cube. A second later, the same old man with heavy Jedi robes appeared above the cube the cube in a bowing position.

"Are you sure he isn't your father?" Agitha asked.

Ryu raised an eyebrow, "Why do you say that?"

She pointed to the hologram, "Well, he has your same colored hair and eyes."

Ryu jumped slightly when he saw she was right, he had somehow missed those features. Everyone else jumped slightly when the hologram began to speak, "I can assure you that I am his ancestor. I am Ryu Zhuses Darkson, it is no coincidence that I share a similar name or features. I have speculated that he is the reincarnation of me but that doesn't seem likely."

The Riewel family only stared in silence as Ryu continued his conversation with what looked like himself in forty years, "So, just to be sure, has information aside from Jedi techniques been added to your collection of knowledge?"

Zhuses gave a deep nod, "That is a yes, what questions do you have?"

"This." Ryu tapped on the half blown apart droid head that sat on the living room table, "I've never seen this type of droid before. All the droids I know about the separatist aren't independent, these were."

Zhuses stared closely at the droid, "Intriguing, yet highly disturbing. From what I can tell about this droid is that is that it slightly resembles a HK droid."

"HK, what's that?"

"Hunter Killer, they were assassin droids. Damn good ones too. Their purpose was to hunt down targets from their employers. They were so good in fact, that they could go toe to toe with experienced Jedi."

That sent a chill up Ryu's spine, "But how did I destroy them when it was three on one?"

"That's a fairly easy question to answer. The Separatist built these droids but the plans for the HK-51 were made approximately made three thousand six hundred years ago. And during the Russan Reformation, a lot of knowledge was lost, including about the HK series. Looks like the Separatist managed to find some lost plan of sort and attempted to decode. They must have jumped on it after they read the line Jedi-Killer. The plan though must have been corrupted quite a bit because if those were HK-51's, you would all be dead."

"Wow, did HK's know how to handle melee weapons?" Ryu asked out of curiosity.

"No, but it might be possible that the Separatist added that into their programming, might be a reason why they have degraded in quality."

"I see." Ryu remained silent for a moment, debating to ask his next question.

"You are wondering about your dreams, aren't you?" Zhuses asked.

Ryu nodded silently, "What the hell were they? All that nonsense with Shield and Terentatek."

"Part of your Trials."

Ryu went wide eyed, "MY WHAT?!"

"I should start from the beginning, shouldn't I?"

"Please do." Ryu replied sarcastically.

"As I said when you first activated the Holocron, I have seen your future and the trials you will encounter. Since their are no Jedi Masters around to give you your trials and make you a Jedi Knight, I have taken it upon myself to do so. Now your dreams, you see, Shield was there because a new power manifested in you, your Earth Magic. It was powerful enough to be able to enter your dreams in an avatar that reflected your Earth Magic, i.e. a rock/person that could protect you. Now Terentatek is a bit more confusing but try to follow along. Terentatek is your polar opposite."

"Really, he still had that similar sour attitude I have now." Ryu stated.

"Think polar opposite in your heart, he had a heart of darkness while you have a heart of gold so to speak."

"Called it!" Cyton shouted.

Zhuses looked slightly annoyed from the interruption, "Anyway, Terentatek represented the Dark Side in you. The thirst for power is in your bloodline, it always has been ever since I turned away from the Sith. But he was kept in check by a Force Barrier planted on you by your master, Etro."

"What?!" Ryu shouted again.

"The Dark side was swelling up in you as you trained as a initiate. The night before you left, Etro came into your room when you were sleeping and placed it over your mind and soul. Without it, you would have likely gone on a rampage and gave into the hate completely. The Jedi Council only allowed you to be her Padawan if she promised to keep you in check, by keeping close to her, she could easily maintain the barrier. But the Dark Side in you was stronger than she thought. Its result was your constant negative attitude. But when you came through the portal to Earthland the barrier was displaced and destroyed. Leaving the space between you and your Dark Side. But it was immediately filled with something else, something that few can use in this world."

"Magic."

"Correct. The magic ability you gained created a thin barrier between you an-"

Ryu raised his hand, "I'm sorry, but you're talking about magic as if it is a raw physical thing. I find this hard to believe."

"Like the Force, magic is part of your mind, body, and soul. It is as physical as this half blown apart droid's head as it is intangible as the thoughts in your head. It is both physical and not."

Ryu considered that for a moment, "Fair enough, continue. Something about a thin barrier?"

"Ah yes, your magic ability created a thin barrier between you, Jedi Ryu Krayt Darkson, and your alter ego, Sith Ryu Krayt Darkson. When you met Mavis, she must have sensed this thin barrier between you and your other self and decided to strengthen it."

"By giving me knowledge on how to use magic."

"Again, correct. But when you lost your memory, you forgot who you were. Therefore you, Jedi Ryu Krayt Darkson, were no longer there. What I mean is that one side that the barrier was protecting was gone. This created a space that your alter ego, Sith Ry-"

"I get it, just say alter ego." Ryu complained.

"As you wish. It created a empty space in which your alter ego could become your new ego grow and thrive. Your two dreams were your alter ego trying to break through your barrier. It manifested into who you called Terentatek. Shield was the thin barrier that protected you. Although the last time you met them, Shield had grown strong enough to fully resist Terentatek. So in attempt to fool you, Terentatek or your alter ego arranged your dream to be a win-lose scenario for both sides. Choose Shield, your memories would have been lost forever but keep magic. Choose Terentatek and the barrier would have fallen and your memories would have returned but twisted and evil that who change who you were."

"But I chose neither."

Zhuses gestured to the other people in the room."Terentatek didn't count on your resolve to stay with your family."

Everyone couldn't help but smile at the thought of 'Ryu's resolve to stay', Zhuses quickly continued, "And it is with great pride that I would say that you have passed the Trials of Spirit, Flesh, and Insight."

Ryu's jaw dropped to the floor, or it would have it could have, "Three out of the five! But how and when?!"

"Trial of Spirit: You resisted the dark temptation from Terentatek, he could have given you immense power but you chose the path of the light. Trial of Flesh: Surviving a blaster bolt to the back of the right shoulder and making a full recovery."

Ryu interrupted, "But that was from a blaster malfunction from a Clone trooper's blaster rifle."

Zhuses smiled, "Correct but it was a severe injury during war that would have killed most your age. Therefore you passed."

"On a technicality." Ryu grumbled.

"There are plenty of technicalities nowadays. If it makes you feel better, I will officially switch your Trial of Flesh to something that was much more painful if it happens."

Ryu shrugged his shoulders, "Eh, what about Trial of Insight?"

"When you arrived in this world you met Jellal and he insulted your parents. This is a sensitive subject for you and normally you would have turned to violence. But you kept your wits and chose the peaceful route. And again in your last dream, you figured out a solution for yourself instead of one presented to you. A insightful one I must say."

Ryu shook his head at the bad joke, "That leaves the Trial of Courage and Trial of Skill."

"Correct, I look forward to the days you take them and become a Jedi Knight. Any more questions?"

"No."

Zhuses bowed slightly, "I will take my leave now."

The projection faded and Ryu turned back to what he still considered his family, Neri was staring at him intently, her eyes seemed to be sparkling, "What is it Neri?"

Neri stood up and ran over next to Ryu and attached herself to his arm, "Hurry up and become a Jedi Knight already so you can be my knight in shining armor."

"Uh, the only armor I have are these Mandalorian Iron gauntlets. Although they are only gauntlets, they are really good gauntlets."

Cyton spoke up, "So what happens now?"

Ryu shoulders slumped a little, "Sadly, I have to continue on to Magnolia."

"To join Fairy Tail."

Ryu nodded, "Yes I made a promise to Mavis. For now I will be using a cover identity saying that I came from some distant mountains and decided to join up with their guild. I will be using this story until I see fit to reveal who I really am."

Cyton laughed "Good idea, Makarov would think you're insane if you told him you met Mavis."

"You know him?" Asked Ryu.

"Oh yeah, our farm is where the Fairy Tail guild gets most of their food from. We made that deal when he saved us from a bunch of bandits that attacked our house. Also, he is one of my buddies I visit in town from time to time."

"Huh, who would have guessed?"

Riewel Property edge, 4:37 PM

Ryu had finished his final meal with his adopted family, he then gathered up some spare clothes from his dresser and shoved them into his bag along with all his possessions. He stood on the edge of the property, where the snowy muddy ground met with the snowy stone road. Cyton, Agitha and Neri had come to see him off.

"You sure you don't want a ride to town, I don't mind giving you a lift there." Cyton repeated for the seventh time.

"No, this is something I have to do on my own."

"Well, just remember, you are welcome back home anytime you want to." Agitha reminded him.

Ryu gave a slight bow, "Thank you, I will remember that."

His gaze fell on Neri, her head hung low out of sadness, Ryu placed a hand on her shoulder, "Don't worry, I'll come back and visit."

"Promise?"

"Promise."

"Cross your heart, hoped to die?"

"Or poke a needle in my eye. Ouch, that would hurt." He joked.

Neri grappled him into a hug, she hung onto him not wanting to let him go. Ryu rubbed her head as she still clung to him. Slowly she backed away holding out a doll, her knight, "I want you to have this. So you will remember me."

Ryu chuckled, "I won't need that to remember you."

She thrust the doll at him again, not saying anything this time. Ryu gave in and took the doll, "Fine, but I'm not taking him to remember you. I'm taking him so it will give me reason to come back and so he can be reunited with his princess."

Neri perked up and smiled slightly, "Okay."

Agitha stepped forward with a brown paper bag and handed it to Ryu, "A sandwich and some fruit in case you get hungry."

Ryu slipped the doll inside a pocket and took the bag, he bowed slightly again, "Thank you for the meal."

When he looked back up, he could see that she was suppressing tears. But failing horribly, Ryu spread out his arms, "Hug?"

She gratefully took it and spilled a couple tears onto his shoulder as a result, "I forever will consider you my son."

Finally Cyton stepped up with three things in his hands, Ryu's dagger, whittling knife, and the block of wood that he had started on his way to Magnolia but never finished, "These belong to you, please take them."

Ryu slipped the sheathed dagger in his boot and covered it up with his pants. He placed the smaller knife on his utility belt that he had put back on and slipped the piece of wood into his bag.

Cyton looked like he was suppressing tears as well, "Promise you will turn that block of wood into something beautiful someday, okay?"

Ryu held out his arms once more and Cyton pulled him off his feet into a bear hug. The man set Ryu down eventually and let him be on his way. They all watched him walked down the road, away from them and toward his future. They were all sad as they were proud of him, whatever his name may be or who he was, he was family.

Ryu walked for a half an hour then lifted the holocron out of his bag using the Force. It fell into his palm as he began channeling the Force into it, Zhuses appeared a second later, "Questions?"

"How accurate were your visions, percent wise?" Ryu asked.

Zhuses thought for a moment, "It was around ninety two percent. Why do you ask?"

"Same here. I remember having a vision of falling out of a tree after retrieving a white kite with pink flowers on it. It was suppose to happen during my time on the farm."

"Hmm, is that the kite you were referring to?" Zhuses pointed off to the side of the road.

There was indeed a white kite with pink hearts on it under the fallen snow, "Alright, that's freaking creepy."

Zhuses shrugged, "The Force works in mysterious ways."

Ryu shut off the holocron, "Yeah, so does the wind . . . I wonder how that one blue haired girl is doing? Not Levy although I do wonder what she is doing. What?! Get that image out of your head Ryu, you're a Jedi, at least try to think pure thoughts. Oh god, this old and new personality really coincide with each other. . . I wonder how Wendy and Jellal are doing in this cold weather."

Ryu shivered slightly and sniffed hard, "Maybe I should have packed warmer clothes."

Magnolia, 8:57 PM

The sun had disappeared over the horizon before Ryu had reached the town, the only light was given was the stars. It was enough to find his way through the rocky terrain and gaze once again on the town of Magnolia. Unlike before, he had never visited the town in the night. Everything felt different without people going every which way, the empty street didn't feel hostile but not comforting at the same time.

"Craaap, nothing is open at this time of day. And I hardly doubt that the guild is open at this hour. I gotta find a place to sleep until the morning, but I forgot to bring any money so a inn is out of the question." Ryu sighed, a some cloud of exhaled air floated from his mouth and dissipated in the air.

After a half hour of wandering around the town, Ryu found a bridge over a river that ran through town. He walked up the stairs of the bridge and stopped in the center. The water below him was crystal clear but no doubt cold enough to sap all his heat away. Ryu turned his gaze to the stars, even though it still was snowing each star that could be seen filled his eyes. For a moment, the cold left his body as he stared toward the sky, the star light could be seen reflecting off some flakes creating the impression of hundreds of tiny little lights descending from the sky.

When he looked down, he had trouble stifling his laughter, someone a little shorter than himself was attempting to carry a stack of books at least three times taller than themself. They were staggering back and forth attempting to keep the books in balance which made it all the more difficult to stifle his laughter.

Although it stopped being funny when the person stumbled, slipped on some snow, and toppled into the freezing river, they came bobbing to the surface and managed to weakly yell out, "H-Help!"

Ryu was moving before he even knew it, he extended his reach with the Force and lifted the girl out of the freezing water. He set her down beside the river before legging it to her side. His jaw almost hit the floor when he realized who it was.

Levy was clutching her arms and shivering feverishly, her winter clothes were waterlogged even though she was in the water for less than a couple seconds. Her skin was was pale white and icy cold to touch.

Ryu crouched next to her, "Are you alright?! Say something!"

"Guild . . ."

Ryu brought his ear closer, "What?"

"Take me to the Fairy Tail guild . . ." She managed to say.

Ryu placed one arm under her back and another under her legs, he shivered as he picked her up, her wet clothes soaked his as well. Levy weakly wrapped an arm around his neck as he took off running in the night. He had passed by the guild a few times and remembered how to get there, and thankfully the street lights were on to show him the path. Fresh snow crunched under his feet as he ran, Levy continued shivering heavily in his arms and his own shivering was increasing from his damp cloths. A couple turns later he saw the guild in the distance and he picked up the speed.

Ryu glanced at the girl in his arms, "We're almost there, just hang in there."

His pace increased even more when Levy did not respond. He past a couple people on the street who quickly moved out of the way of the speeding boy. As Ryu got closer to the building, he saw the lights on but didn't know if anyone was home, or if anyone would answer the door. Ryu dropped one of the hands carrying Levy, she held on by keeping an arm around his neck.

He began to concentrate his Force energy in the palm of his hand. The energy continued to accumulate until Ryu reached the door of the guild. He placed his hand an inch in front of the door and released all the energy at once.

The doors blasted open but not off its hinges, Ryu ran in yelling, "We need help! She fell into the river!"

There were indeed people people, a lot of them of various ages and sizes. All of their eyes were focused on him. Two men quickly approached him with worried looks on their faces, one with dark blue hair and a giant necklace with S on it . The other man was similarly aged with strange light brown hairdo and a cigarette in his mouth.

"It's Levy! Kid quickly bring her over to the fireplace. Wakaba, fetch Makarov." Ryu compiled as the man with a strange hair do ran off somewhere.

The black haired man groaned, "Ah, who was suppose to be tending the fire? It's out now."

He threw a couple logs in before turning around and started to say, "Someone fetch some matches, we need a fi-"

He was interrupted by a snap-hissing sound and some strange other sounds that he couldn't name. He whipped around to see the boy who brought Levy in holding a silver cylinder with a light of pure black protruding from it. It made a whirring sound which attracted even more attention.

Ryu deactivated the saber and attached it to his waist again before help Levy sitting up. He her hands shakily moved toward the fire, Ryu turned toward the man, "She needs dry cloths now. Can you get some?"

He didn't receive an answer as the man already ran off before he finished his question. He returned a few minutes later with some dry clothes. Levy was led to a different room by some other girls to help her change. Seeing as there was nothing else he could do, he took off his wet, cold shirt and let it flop to the floor.

Seconds later a strong fist connected with his cheek, sending him to his hands and knees, "Will you stop stripping Gray?!"

"I'm over here hot head!" Responded another kid.

Ryu recognized the voices, he had heard them once six months ago but he could still remember them clearly, "You two . . ."

Ryu looked up to see Natsu standing next to him and Gray a few feet away. He rose to his feet and clenched his fists, "We still have something to finish don't we?"

For reasons unknown to himself, Ryu suddenly delivered a blow to Natsu's cheek which sent him staggering a couple feet away. Considering the situation, now may have not been the best time fighting but Ryu didn't care, he was pissed off.

Natsu was taken back by the sudden counter attack, he finally recognized the figure in front of him. Natsu smiled widely, "It's Krayt, wasn't it?"

Ryu fell into his unarmed combat stance, "No, Krayt's my middle name. Call me Ryu."

"Looking for a fight, I'm game." Gray rotated his shoulder blades.

Natsu and Gray lined up next to each other, wide grins showed on each of their faces. Ryu collected his thoughts, he was going to end this battle in one swift blow. The two boys charged him, Ryu brought his hands back and started focusing his energy between them. He only intended to bruise them up a bit. The kinetic force released on the two boys sent them flying backwards a good twenty feet, Natsu hit a pillar while Gray crashed onto a table.

Ryu quickly walked over and pointed a finger at them, "And that's what happens when you pick a fight with me."
He didn't intend for his voice to sound hostile, it just came out like that. All of the guild member's eyes were upon him once again, and again Ryu made another mistake, "What are all you looking at? Want a piece of me?"

All the kids and some of the adults quickly moved their gazes off him and back to whatever they were doing, Ryu sighed inwardly, "Damn good job there Ryu. Now they all hate you. So much for making friends."

"Oh hoho, you are sure powerful indeed." A man whose hat rose to Ryu's neck approached him. He seemed to wear a blue and orange jesters hat with a orange jacket and shorts with a white t-shirt that had the guild's symbol imprinted on it, a Fairy. Without the hat, it seemed the man would only be as tall as Ryu's chest. The man also had the complexion of old man. What scared Ryu though was the amount of power he could sense from the man.

"You seem familiar, where have I seen you before boy?" Asked the little man.

"If you are Makarov Dreyar, then you might have seen me around my adopted father, Cyton Riewel."

Makarov snapped his fingers, "Oh, I knew that I have seen you before. Although, last time I saw you, you had a different aura around you. Back then you seemed to carefree and happy. Now you seem determined and for better lack of words, experienced. Your name was Krayt I believe."

"Wow, this guy is freaking sharp." Ryu straightened himself out and gave a slight bow, "I am Ryu Krayt Darkson, I have come to join Fairy Tail."
Ryu got a couple of weird looks from around the room, no doubt some people didn't really want him in. Makarov merely studied him, "Might I ask why?"

"I have my reasons, they are personal." Ryu replied.

Makarov gestured around the room, "My guild, my rules."

Ryu bit his lip, he very well couldn't say, "Oh, your old guild master told me I should on Tenrou Island out in the middle of no where. Did you know she had ethereal abilities?"

A door opened which caught Ryu's attention, he looked over to see Levy wrapped in a heavy blanket being led over to the fire with her friends, Ryu lowered his voice and moved his head slightly closer, "There is a girl . . . in this guild."

Makarov smiled and lowered his voice to a whisper, "Oh? Young love is it? Is it Levy per chance?"

Ryu's face said it all, his face once again lit up with embarrassment. Makarov continued to smile as he brought a finger to his lips, "Your secret is safe with me. Levy is a new addition herself, joined this April. Nice girl, likes reading. Cyton said you're a good kid with a lot of magic potential. Although he didn't mention the ability to move things without touching them."

"There are certain circumstances I will be happy to share later." Ryu said as he started formulating a fake backstory which he should have been doing before he entered the town.

Makarov spoke up, "I would like you all to welcome our newest addition to our family, Ryu Krayt Darkson!"

A few voices murmured at the name 'Darkson'. "Maybe a Sith name wasn't the best choice." Ryu thought.

Ryu was ushered to sit at an empty table and told to wait. Minutes later an older female guild member walked up with a stamp in her hand, "Where and what color?

"Pardon?"

"Where do you want your guild stamp and what color do you want it in?" The woman seemed very patient.

Ryu thought for a couple moments, he thought back to his colored sabers and remembered his parents want for balance. White and black make, "Gray. And on my right forearm."

The stamp didn't hurt at all but he felt a little tingly in his arm. When the stamp was removed, a neat little gray fairy symbol rested on his forearm. He admired it a bit as the woman stood next to him smiling, "Would you like something to eat?"

At that moment, Ryu's stomach growled. He had already eaten the food given to him by his mother but that had been long ago and now his stomach rumbled for more, "Yes please."

As the woman left, Ryu realized that he was sitting all by himself. He felt loneliness creep back up inside him and caused him to be a bit depressed, "How am I suppose to make a friend if no one wants to talk to me, or even look at me."

"It's you."

Ryu reeled back on the bench when he heard her voice, Erza was standing not three feet from him with a plate in her hands. But this time, no sword at his throat. Although that didn't stop a couple sweat beads from forming on his forehead.

"Do you need something?" Ryu asked nervously.

Erza sat next to him on the bench and set her plate of food on the table causing him to jump a little. She noticed him acting a bit on edge, "Don't worry. I won't hurt you. I just want to say I'm sorry for what happened a couple months ago."

Ryu was a bit shocked, but surely happier with the situation, "Oh um, it's nothing really."

"But I must know, how did you know about . . . what you said before?"

He knew she was talking about what happened at the park, his head hung a little lower, "Not sure if you'll believe me, but I have visions from time to time."

Erza nodded slightly, "I understand, some of our abilities aren't always under our control."

Ryu chuckled, "You can say that again."

Erza remained silent for a time then said, "I would ask that you would keep quiet about what you saw. It is very personal."

"What are you two talking about over here?" Natsu sat down on the bench opposite from him and Erza.

Ryu folded his hands on the table, "We all have our secrets."

He winked at Erza who nodded in return before digging into her meal. Ryu felt the bench he was sitting on jostle a bit when a mostly naked Gray sat down on his other side, "That was some strange magic you knocked us back with. What was it?"

Ryu quickly thought, "Um, from where I'm from it's called the . . . uh . . . it doesn't have a name. We just use it."

"Whatever it is, you're really strong. We should fight again sometime." Natsu added in cheerfully.

"Although next time, only fists." Gray commented.

Natsu shook his head, "No way, if I'm going to beat him, I want to beat him at his best."

Erza seemed slightly annoyed and merely shook her head as she continued eating. Ryu's food was eventually brought over as the two boys got into yet another fight. He merely chowed down on his food and relaxed, he closed his eyes and took in the feel of the guild.

When he opened his eyes, he found himself staring at Levy from across the room. They met eye contact for a second, Levy smiled and waved over to him. He found it adorable that she was waving her hand from under the blanket.

He had a thought then, he took the piece of wood out of his bag and the small knife from his utility belt. He took one last look at Levy before he started carving, "Maybe this place won't be so bad."

37 miles West South West of Hargeon, Year X784 June 30th 11:49 AM

"Stone Pillar!"

Ryu flew upwards along the rock face, his hand caught the ledge and he pulled himself up. The surrounding mountains rose high above all around him, the wind kicked up the flap of his black leather duster. Ryu walked to the edge of the cliff and used the Force to enhance his eyes. Farsight was a trick Ryu learned to master long ago and it certainly had its uses. He scanned the surrounding area, his eyes swept over the land slowly being sure not to miss any detail.

Then he saw what he was looking, a group of about twenty to twenty-five people were making their way along a naturally formed road that was unknown to most. At least half of the people were in chains and being dragged and pushed along. Ryu unfolded a piece of paper from his pocket and examined it once more. It was a job request, in short it stated a three hundred and seventy-five thousand jewel reward for finding a bunch of kidnappers and their prisoners.

Ryu pocketed it in his custom made dark tan pants that looked similar to his Jedi pants when he was younger. His silver braid flapped in the wind alongside his black leather duster as he continued observing the large group. They were moving rather slowly with was good for him, he could his time planning out his attack.

Ryu opened his pocket dimension and retrieved his mother and father's lightsabers. He twirled the hilts in his hands for a minute before looking at his gauntlets, he had another Fairy Tail symbol slapped on to his right gauntlet where his original symbol would be. His fingers stuck through the fingerless gloves and wrapped around the hilts, his subconscious made his regularly drum his fingers on the hilts whenever he was thinking.

Finally, Ryu stood up, "Time to get to work."

He took one step forward, over the side of the cliff and plummeted down.
