A/N: I'm so sorry for not updating in such a long time! I'm in senior year of high school so I decided I was gonna choose one of my stories to continue and for the others to have a "break". Unfortunately this story was one of those who got a break. I had this chapter ready for a while now, but the reason I post it now is because I didn't want to get your hopes up. I just started chapter 10 and I have seriously no idea how long it will take until I finish and post it. Like, it might even take months. I hope you will continue reading this fic anyway.
Oh, and sorry for typos etc.
Chapter 9 – Tracking Down Rachel
(POV Finn)
"So, what are we gonna do now?" I asked, starting to feel panicked.
"Well, I'm gonna search for her. What you guys are gonna do… well, that's none of my business…" Tina said.
"Search for her? There's no need for that. She said she was going to her father, Leroy. She's probably there." Puck said and frowned.
"Do you believe that?" Quinn asked and laughed.
"Yes. It's Rachel. She doesn't lie to me."
"If she had gone to Leroy she would have been at school right now. He would let her." Tina said and sighed.
"C'mon, guys, seriously? You can go search for her, but I bet on my granddad's grave she's just home with a fever, and with home I mean with Leroy." Puck said and walked away.
"Hey Cohen-slave-of-Rachel-Berry-Chang, where is Rachel's other follower?" Quinn asked and Tina groaned.
"I'm not her slave."
"Whatever. Just answer my question."
"Kurt's dad has had a heart attack, so he is allowed to stay with him for at least a day."
I widened my eyes. "He's had a heart attack? Why didn't my mom tell me?" I shouldn't have said that out loud. The aftermath was that Tina and Quinn were staring at me like I just dropped a grenade.
"Finn? Have you gone crazy or is there something you're not telling me?" Quinn asked and crossed her arms.
"I… I…" I was hesitating. It wasn't a good idea to tell her, because she would really… I don't know… freak out or something… but, on the other hand, keeping a secret isn't good. She would find out eventually, so it was for the better if I told her now. At least she heard it from me. "Kurt is actually my stepbrother."
Tina and Quinn's eyes almost fell out of their heads.
"Err…Yeah, so, his dad and my mom are living together and recently I found out he's my stepbrother. I knew I had one, but-" Tina interrupted me.
"You just were too stupid to realize it was Kurt."
I opened my mouth to say something, but I knew she was right.
"Of course you're gonna move out now and live with the Hummels." Quinn said and shook her head.
"Nobody said that."
"Yeah, but you're thinking about it."
"Well, yeah, but there's no room for me in their house, plus, you are nice company and for no gold I wanna miss your delicious home cooked meals! That are enough reasons to stay, aren't they?"
"You think it's true they don't have room for you? Maybe they just don't want you." Tina said and shrugged.
"Yes, I believe that's true." I said sarcastically. "I'm my mom's only child, she loves me. Of course she doesn't want me to live with her and Kurt's dad." I hesitated about what I was saying. I always thought it just wasn't possible for me to live with them. But what if what Tina said was true? I decided I should visit them soon, so I could see the house myself, if it really was as small as they were saying it was. "Now, can we get back to the Rachel subject, please?"
"Has one of you already tried to call her or one of her dads?" Quinn asked, expecting them to say no, because she always expects people who aren't her to be stupid.
"I have called Rachel but she's not answering. However, I haven't called either of her dads. I think it's a good idea to call her dad, Leroy, just not here. It's kinda loud here." Tina said and already walked away.
I looked at Quinn and grabbed her hand. "C'mon."
"Why would I go with you? Rachel is your friend, not mine."
I sighed and faked a smile. "I'm not forcing you to go, but I think you'd rather come with me than spend the whole day without me, which basically means you'll be spending the day alone." I knew that was kind of harsh to say, but it was the truth and Quinn also always rubbed the truth in everyone's faces. I saw in her eyes she was touched, but she shook it off by saying "Let's go."
/
We came outside and looked around. Where the hell did Tina go? Quinn and I looked around and just before I wanted to give up, I spotted Tina. She sat in her car. She looked really impatient. "I found her." I said and went to her car, causing Quinn to have to walk too, since we were still holding hands. I knocked on the door to the driver's seat. Tina opened the window.
"Gosh, what took you two so long? Been making out?"
"Not that it's any of your business, but no. Couldn't you just wait outside your car so we could have found you sooner?" Quinn snapped.
"Wait? We've already waiting far too long! We talk about a missing person here, Quinn."
"Tina, have you already called Rachel's dad?" I asked, to break the tension between the two girls.
"Yes, I've called Leroy, but he didn't pick up. Then I realized Rachel told me he was in the town's hospital, so at least we could check if he's still there."
"But what if he isn't? Then we'd go there for basically nothing. Wouldn't that be a waste of time, Asian kid?"
I sighed. "Quinn."
"What?"
I shook my head. She knew what she did wrong, or rather, what she said wrong. I didn't need to correct her.
"No, trying isn't the same as wasting time. However, talking about it is a waste of time. Let's leave." Tina said and closed the window.
"She got a point there." I said and immediately got slapped across the face by Quinn. It wasn't hard, but though… "Ah! And why's that? For agreeing with one of Rachel's friends?"
Quinn shrugged. "Tina's a terrible person and agreeing with her is like agreeing with the devil's right hand."
"Oh c'mon Quinn, you're sounding really ridiculous right now."
Quinn wanted to say something back, but then there was the sound of Tina knocking against the car window. She looked furious. Oops.
"We should go."
Quinn sighed and slowly nodded. "Yes we should."

(Flashback) (POV Rachel)
"Rachel, I want you to stand behind me in case Hiram is still moody." Leroy said as we stood on the doorstep in front of our house. I nodded.
Leroy pressed the doorbell. Strangely, not Hiram, but miss Puckerman opened the door.
"What?" I yelled. What the hell was she doing here?
"Oh hi Rachel. How are you?"
"Miss Puckerman, could you please tell us why you're here?" Leroy asked politely. I knew he didn't like it that she was here either.
"Of course. Hiram invited me."
"What?" Leroy and I both said.
"Now tell me, why are you here, Rachel? Shouldn't you be at our place, watching a movie with Noah or something?"
I stepped away from behind my dad, so I could look miss Puckerman in her eyes.
"Our place? I don't live there! Actually I have left, I'm moving back! I'm so sorry Noah has to live with you."
"Enough, Rachel." Leroy said and pushed me back behind his back.
"Moving back? Ha, do you actually think Hiram will happily take you back with a warm welcome? I don't think so. He just told me-" Leroy interrupted her.
"Miss Puckerman, I'd like to speak to my husband."
"Oh yeah, you're still married… I'll get him." She said and walked away.
Leroy groaned and wanted to go after her, but I was too fast and grabbed his arms.
"Stay calm, daddy. Violence doesn't solve anything." Although I couldn't see his facial expression, I knew he was smiling.
"Did I teach you that?"
"Yes. You're a very good dad, dad."
"Thanks, Rach. I love you."
"So, why are you two here?" Hiram asked, who'd suddenly appeared.
"I'm sorry, but this is still our home. I can come here whenever I want. But don't worry, I'm just here to ask if Rachel can come back, nothing more."
Hiram frowned. "Why?"
"Why? Because she felt fucking uncomfortable at the Puckermans! She didn't even have her own stuff! Everything was still here. Please, take her and show her you can be a good father."
I really wasn't used to see Leroy as angry as he was now. If I were Hiram, I would be damn scared, but his face still showed the same neutral look.
"Fine."
Leroy couldn't believe it. Did he just say 'fine'? I didn't believe it either.
"Yeah, I said fine. I'll show her I'm a better dad than you are."
"Good luck with that." Leroy said and turned to me. "If anything happens, just call me. And I still don't think it's a good idea to bring friends from school home. Do you understand?" I nodded.
Leroy turned back to Hiram.
"Take good care of her. If you're looking for me, I'm at Lima's one and only hotel. I still expect you to tell me the story between you and miss Puckerman soon."
"Story? What story?"
"You two have known each other since, I don't know, kindergarten, and every time I spotted you with her, you hadn't told me you were going to see her. I just don't get why you have to be so secretive around me."
"So that's what it's about. Keeping things to myself. Right."
"Don't act like I'm stupid. Promise me you'll tell me soon."
"And why would I do that?"
I, again, stepped away from behind my dad's back and answered.
"For me. I just want you two to trust each other. That's all. Oh, and you also should stop yelling at each other. It's not really nice to hear."
"I'm sorry Rachel. But-" Hiram and Leroy both said at the same time, which shocked them, so they both stopped talking.
"Thanks, dads. Now I think it's time to say goodbye. Bye dad." I said and hugged Leroy.
"Bye, Rachel. Don't do anything stupid while I'm gone."
"I won't. Gonna miss you."
"Gonna miss you too."
"Enough crap talk. We should go inside, Rachel."
I nodded.

(POV Finn)
"What do you mean he left?" Quinn asked with an irritating tone. They'd gone to the hospital and had asked the woman at the reception in which room Leroy Berry was.
"He left yesterday, early in the evening."
"Do you have any idea where he went?" Tina asked, while I just tried to follow the conversation.
"I'm not allowed to say personal stuff like that… Unless you are family."
"I'm his nephew." I lied. What? Why did I say that? Quinn and Tina scowled at me. "I'm his nephew, so I really wanna know where he went. His daughter is sort of missing..."
"Sort of missing, you say?"
I nodded.
"Have you called the police? Why don't you let it over to them?"
I saw Quinn's face go red of anger. "I don't think you watch tv. You know why? Because cops are often on there and you would know that they are only going to help you if the missing person is gone for more than 24 hours. You don't know that? You work at a hospital, you should know that! Now, tell us where he went, or I will make you you'll get fired! I-" I interrupted Quinn.
"Enough Quinn, this won't help."
The woman seemed offended, but not scared. "Please leave."
"But we still don't know where he went!" I said and I panicked.
"Not you. I'm talking to the blonde one."
Quinn faked a smile. "Of course, but I will come back some day for revenge. I will come back!" She said while she went into the direction of the main entrance.
"Can I see your passport or any other identification?" The woman then asked me and oh, well…
"I don't have it with me right now…"
"Miss, please, Rachel- his daughter –has been away for so many hours and I just know something is up. I can feel it. It would mean the world if you helped us." Tina said and I nodded.
The woman hesitated and sighed. "Fine. I heard him talking with his daughter. He was going to go to a hotel and she was going back somewhere, I suspect home."
"Thank you, miss. We owe you." Tina said and pulled me with her while she walked away.
"Wait! We don't know which hotel!"
"Finn, there's only one hotel here in Lima."
"How would I know?"
"Right, you were the new one, of course you don't know that." Tina said and sighed.
"What exactly is your problem, Tina?"
"You just suddenly join our group of people and act like you've been friends with us for ages, while you don't even know our history, you know, what happened before you came. I advise you to go find that out before you'll regret something later on."
"Thanks, but I'm already working on that. Now, let's find Quinn."
A/N: Okay, that's it for this time. Please, review! 3
