A/N: Sorry you had to wait for more than 4 months. I wish I had updated earlier but like I said, I am a very busy student atm. Anyway, here's the tenth chapter and I hope you like it!
Chapter 10 – Tracking Down Rachel, part 2
(POV Finn)
"Quinn?!" I yelled as I exited the hospital. "Quinn? Are you here?"
"Just call her, Finn." Tina said and looked at me like I was dumb.
"Alright, miss know-it-all." I said and called Quinn's number.
"Hello Finn."
"Quinn! Where are you?"
"Dah, I left! What took you so long?"
"You left? Where are you going? Home?"
Tina looked up at me. "She left?"
I ignored her and instead I waited for Quinn's answer.
"No, of course not. I'm already on my way to the hotel."
"Do you know the term 'patience', Quinn? Because I don't think you do."
"Ha ha, very funny, Finn. I bet you want to find Rachel as soon as possible, so don't you think I'm doing the right thing now?"
I sighed. "Sure, just… you were my ride."
"Tina will take you. You don't mind going with her, right?"
I wanted to answer, but Quinn already continued.
"Actually you don't have a choice, darling. I bet if you're nice to Tina, she'll be nice to you."
"Fine, Quinn. Just don't go inside the hotel yet."
"Okay… Just hurry, will ya?"
I nodded, but then realized she couldn't see that. "Yeah we will. See you."
"Bye." Quinn hung up.
"She left?" Tina said again. I nodded. "I cannot believe she did that! What a-"
I cut Tina off before she could call out Quinn for whatever she was going to say.
"She had good intentions. But err… you really have no choice but to take me with you in your car… I'll take the wheel if you want to."
"Excuse me?"
Oh, I shouldn't have commanded her. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to push you."
"You know what? It's fine."
I frowned. The tone of her voice had changed. I thought she was up to something, but I was just very thankful I could go with her, so I ignored my intuition. "Yeah? That's great. Shall I drive?"
Tina's facial expression changed. "No. I don't want anything to happen to my car. It was very expensive purchase."
"I didn't plan on ruining your car, if you were thinking so."
"Whatever, I drive." Tina said and walked toward her car. I followed her.
/
We were on our way to the hotel. We'd already been in the car for ten minutes, but nor Tina, nor I have said anything to one another. I wanted to say something, but I just didn't know what. Luckily Tina cleared her throat and started speaking.
"I have a confession to make. You know that Quinn used to be head cheerleader and that I'm head cheerleading now, right?"
I nodded. "Yes. I've heard that multiple times, actually. Why?"
"I think you deserve to know why she got kicked out of the cheerios. She-"
I interrupted Tina. "No, no, stop! She has to tell me herself!"
"And you think she will? Please, I bet, if I won't tell you, someone else will, and by someone I mean everyone but Quinn. You don't know the secret. You don't know how big it is. Quinn probably thinks it's for the better if you didn't know. She's like one of these Pretty Little Liars-girls."
"If Quinn thinks it's for the better if I didn't know, then I believe her."
"You would also believe her if she told you she was Cinderella, wouldn't you?"
"What?"
"My point is, you treat Quinn far too well. You treat her like a princess, while she's actually more like one of those villains. You just can't see that because she's controlling you."
"What the hell are you talking about? You only know the Quinn from school. You don't know her personally."
"And you do?"
"Kind of, yes."
"Well, let me tell you something, Finn. I know her more than you think. We have been friends last year."
"You have? Really? The whole year?"
"Yes really, and no, not the whole year. We were friends until I replaced Quinn in the cheerios. Quinn will never forgive me, she'll never accept that it happened how it happened."
"But why? Why did you audition for the cheerios?"
"Believe it or not, but I was a shy person last year. I just needed something to stand out with. Yes, I had glee club, but I didn't get any solos. I was singing oohs and aahs in the background and I got tired of that. When I got the opportunity to become head cheerleader, you understand I immediately took it. Finally people started to look up to me."
"So you basically did it to become popular?"
"No… Yes. But do you know what it's like to get a slushy thrown in your face every single day?"
"No. No, I don't. I think I understand. I really appreciate you explaining all of this, Tina."
"It doesn't mean we're friends now, though."
"No, of course not." I said, but secretly I did want to be friends with her now. But if she didn't want to, well, then that was fine.
/
"Quinn, you didn't go inside! Thank you." I said as I walked to the entrance of the hotel with Tina.
"Of course I didn't think. I promised you."
I smiled and kissed Quinn on one of her cheeks.
"Enough already. Let's find Leroy Berry." Tina said and walked ahead.
"Well, let's go." Quinn said. She pulled me close and together we followed Tina.
/
We were standing in front of the room where Leroy was supposed to be. It didn't take long until we found out which room number it was. There was a list with names on the wall downstairs. It was kind of strange, but it only made it easier for us.
"What if he isn't here?" Tina said and looked at me.
"Then we have to find her other dad, I guess." I said, but knew that both Quinn and Tina hated that idea.
"No, that's the last thing I want to do." Tina said.
"Yeah I agree, and you know how I think about agreeing with Tina, so you better realize we have to think up something else. I've never met either of Rachel's dads, but the stories hold me back enough to think going to Hiram is insanely crazy." Quinn said and I nodded.
"Okay, Err… I'll just knock." I said and knocked on the door. We heard some stumbling inside, which meant someone was in there. It took a few seconds before the door got opened. We all gave a sigh of relief when we saw it was Leroy. He frowned.
"Can I help you?"
"Is Rachel here?" Tina blurted out, cutting straight to the chase.
"No… why?" He asked, inspecting the three teenagers.
"Oh shit." I said and bit on my lip. If she wasn't here, then where could she be?
"She's kind of missing." Quinn said and shrugged.
"What?!" Leroy stared at us with his mouth open.
"Sir, we can't find her anywhere. We thought she would be here." Tina said and sighed.
"No, she has never been here. I've dropped her off home… You could go there. I'll come with you. I have the keys, after all."
I nodded. "Good idea. Thank you."
/
5 minutes later Quinn, Leroy and I were seated in Quinn's car and Tina followed us in her car. After a few minutes of silence, Leroy began to speak.
"So she wasn't at school? Are you guys sure?"
Quinn and I nodded.
"Yes. She likes to let the world know when she's present, so yeah, I would have noticed it if she was there… Mr. Berry? Can I ask you a question?"
Quinn saw through the rear-view mirror he was nodding. I looked next to me to see her face. I could hope she wasn't going to ask him something inappropriate. She looked like she was about to ask something serious, luckily.
"So, I suspect that when we are at our destination, Rachel wouldn't be there either. Do you have any idea where else she could be?"
Okay, not as bad as I expected, but still a bit inappropriate. "Quinn, the man just got involved in this. You shouldn't pry." I whispered.
Quinn rolled her eyes. "You want answers too, right? We shouldn't just wait for them to get to us." She whispered back to me, somewhat louder.
I crossed my arms. "Well, in that case, what is it that got you kicked out of the cheerios team? 'Cause I'd like to know that too." I looked straight forward, following the road. I noticed Quinn was silent for a moment, meaning she was forcefully thinking.
"Tina. Tina must have talked to you about this, hasn't she? That cunt. I hate her."
"It doesn't matter if I've talked to Tina about this or not. I just have the feeling you're keeping something big from me and-"
Leroy Berry interrupted me. "Sorry guys, but could you have this discussion another time? I have nothing to do with this."
"I'm sorry, Mr. Berry, but this discussion will only end when Quinn tells me the truth." I said while looking at him through the rear-view mirror.
"You want the truth, Finn? Fine. I love you. I don't want to lose you. If I tell you the reason why I got kicked out of the Cheerios team, you will break up with me. I don't want that."
I looked at Quinn and saw she was crying. I had mixed feelings about this. She poured her heart out, but she still refused to tell the real truth. "I… I love you too, but I… I need to know. If you won't tell me, I'll ask somebody else to do so. Please, Quinn. I won't get mad."
"Promise?"
"I promise."
"Alright. I got kicked out because… because I was pregnant…"
I widened my eyes. It was indeed something big. Tina was right. "What? You were… Oh my… Who's the baby daddy? Do I know him?" I went with my hands through my hair in frustration. I had a lot to process.
"I… I can't tell… You'll get mad at him…"
I raised my eyebrows. "So I know him. Alright. Let me think…" I thought of all the guys in Lima, Ohio I knew. It couldn't be Kurt. She and Kurt hated each other. However, it could be that they didn't hate each other last year… Then we have Mike from history class… Impossible. He and Quinn barely talked and I wondered if Quinn even knew his name. Then there is- Quinn suddenly started talking again.
"It's Noah, Finn. It's Puck. He-he fed me drunk- but it's okay now. The baby is in a safe place."
I shook my head a million times. Puck Puckerman. The jerk. "You should have told me sooner, Quinn."
Tears streamed down her face. "I'm sorry…"
"W-where is the kid now? What's her name? Or is it a boy? You have to understand I have a lot of questions, Quinn."
Quinn sniffed and swept her tears away. "Yeah I understand. It-it's a girl. Her name is Beth. Shelby Corcoran is taking care of her."
I frowned. Who the hell was that? "Who is Shelby Corcoran? Do I know her?"
"It's Rachel's mother. Her biological mother." Leroy Berry answered. He knew all this stuff too? That's crazy! "I didn't know she had one…"
Quinn rolled her eyes. "Finn, everyone has one. You take biology. You should know that."
Dah, of course I knew that. I'm not that stupid. "I just… She never talked to me about her mother…"
"Of course she hasn't. See, I'm not the only one who keeps her mouth shut about big things. People keep secrets. And that's the way it is."
An awkward silence followed. I didn't know what to say. Of course people keep secrets, but he was -well, still is– Quinn's boyfriend and she just should have told him ages ago. And it wasn't just that. Also her behavior was bothering him, especially towards Rachel and her friends. He was done with her. He would break up with her. Just now was not the right timing.
/
Leroy opened the door of his house and the four of them went inside. "Hiram? Rachel?" He called but got no answer.
"Rachel? Are you here?" I yelled but again, no answer.
"Just like I thought: No one's home. Where is the next stop?" Quinn said and crossed her arms.
"Hold on there, Quinn. We're not done here yet. The house is big. She could be anywhere." I said.
"Fine. I'll be lookout."
