"Turkish delight, baklava, fresh fruits, creamed camel's milk, Moroccan coffee.. oh, you've thought of it all! Ohtori-Senpai, you've thought of everything!" A young woman sat at Kyouya's table, eyes wide and excited at the spread before her.
"Of course, my dears. We had to make sure everything was suited to all of our tastes, and we'll gather what's left for sale at the end." He smiled, and the women at his table swooned.
"You mean sell off your leftovers." Haruhi muttered under her breath.
"You're all wrong! You can't just mush one Arab country with another because it matches with the food and decor! There's a difference between Morocco and Turkey, do you know nothing about Geography?!" Pumpkin shrieked, but before she could continue, Tamaki spoke up from his table.
"My dear, it's just a theme, not the embodiment of a single country. The culture, the people, the food.. all from that region is so exotic, so beautiful, so tasty.." His eyes landed on one of his customers. "But it's just sand in this hot desert if I don't have you by my side, my dear.." His table swooned, and Pumpkin wanted to puke.
Muttering, Pumpkin wandered over to a vacant couch and sat. "You wouldn't mush Singapore and Japan together."
"Excuse me?" A young man's voice caught everyone's attention. "We heard the Host Club had a female host. We uh.. were wondering.. if we could sit with her?" Behind him, a small crowd gathered.
"Welcome!" Kyouya was the first to speak up while Tamaki held his arm around Haruhi instinctively.
"At this rate, Pu-chan's debt will be paid off today!" Hani chirped.
"Wish I was that lucky." Haruhi sighed quietly.
"No way!" Pumpkin's arms reached to cover herself. "I'd rather sit with girls any day!"
Everyone looked at her. "Gay!?" They all called out at once.
"What!?"
"She's totally gay."
"Yea, did you hear that? She likes girls over guys."
"She's totally a butch, I mean, just look at her weird colored hair!"
"I AM NOT!" But no one seemed to be listening.
"We definitely want to sit with you now! It's totally cool you like girls, Miss Sagano!" The boys in the hall called out at once.
"And we do too!" Some of the women called out as well.
Eye twitching, Pumpkin hid behind a couch and peered over the back. "Help.. me.."
Kyouya was the first to speak. "Due to some unfortunate events, she will not be able to host you gentlemen at this time. We will thank you to leave our club room for the time being. However, feel free to purchase some Turkish Delight!" He ushered them to some tables with packaged sweets. After the doors were shut, he wandered back to Pumpkin and whispered, "You owe me for that."
"Ah-!" But as he walked away, girls swarmed around Pumpkin excitedly.
"You're really cute, is it okay to have tea with you today?"
"I know it's a little strange and I'm officially engaged to a man, but, would it be alright to spend time with you, too?"
Suddenly, attention! Pumpkin coughed politely before sitting on the couch. "I mean. If you want."
"So cool!"
"She's totally like a guy!"
"Hey, Tama-chan. Why are you sad?" Hani poked at Tamaki.
"Because all of this is spiraling out of control, and I can do nothing about it!"
"You gotta admit though, she's pretty popular."
"Mmmmmh!" Tamaki sank further in his corner.
"At least the attention's not on me so much!" Haruhi exhaled in relief.
"Which means it will be longer before your debt is paid off, hm?" Kyouya smiled.
"Ehh.." Haruhi sweat dropped and slumped her shoulders before returning to her tea tasks.
"Tamaki-kun, have you ever been to the desert?" One of his customers asked, which brought him out of his corner.
"Have I? Well my dear, let me tell you a story.."
"Auuhg." Pumpkin slumped in a chair, finally back in her uniform after club activities were over. "That was exhausting. Hey, Ootoro-san. How much more on my debt do I have?"
"About a million, two hundred yen." The notebook he was writing in snapped shut loudly and his glasses glared as his head turned toward her direction. "And I would kindly remind you that I am not a fancy tuna."
Haruhi stood a moment, the image in her mind of Kyouya in a sushi costume. "Pffft! AHAHA!" Some of the others caught on and laughed with her.
"Hey wait, how did my debt go up!?" Pumpkin shrieked.
"I helped you earlier, one of the women in your care broke a cup, and.. oh yes, I had almost forgot the taxes that would come in replacing the glasses- not to mention you'll be paying for all the tea and snacks you served."
Pumpkin sat in silence, heart broken as her mouth hung open. "He truly is a devil!" She had to hide her face in embarrassment as the others continued laughed at her naming mistake.
"Hey, Kabocha-n?" Hani asked, sitting next to her at her table. "Here's some cake, this one has cherries on top! I like strawberries more, so maybe you'd like this?"
"Huh?" Pumpkin blinked, looking down at the cherry and dutch chocolate cake. "Oh, that looks amazing. Thank you, Hani-senpai!" She grinned and took the plate for herself. But right before she took a bite, she paused and glanced in the direction of Kyouya, who was tapping away at his laptop while Tamaki ranted to him. "Is this... going to cost me anything..?"
"Haha! It's okay, Takeshi already took care of that!" Hani grinned, and the giant who stood behind him looked to the side as his cheeks seemed to get a little red.
"Haa.. thank you, very much." Pumpkin ignored any ideas that tried to creep into her mind about his reaction. Besides, this was dutch chocolate. With cherries. Mouth watering, she dug in, eating it quickly. "Mm, delicious~!" She finished with a wipe to her mouth before standing up. "Well, I'd better get going."
"Hey, wait a sec, Purple-chan." One of the twins called out.
"Before you go, we want to challenge you to a game!" They said at the same time.
"Oh boy.." Her shoulders slumped.
They appeared before her, arms interlaced with each other and hats tilted on their heads. "It's the 'Guess Which One is Hikaru' game!"
"Eh? Uh. Well. You two do look pretty similar." She squinted and peered in at them before leaning back on her heels. "But, I can't tell. I don't know you guys well enough. Just because you two look alike doesn't mean you are alike, though. So challenge accepted! But give me time."
"No way, that's not fair!" One of them called out. "You have to do it now!"
"I don't know!"
"So you forfeit?"
"Don't try to trick my words!"
The other twin laughed. "Let it go. We can try again tomorrow, Hikaru." Kaoru smiled at his brother.
"Hm." Pumpkin squinted at them again before side stepping them, bag hoisted on her shoulder. "See you tomorrow, dorks."
"Isn't that a bit of a manly pose, Pumpkin? YOU SHOULD AT LEAST ACT YOUR GENDER!" Tamaki shouted.
"She's already grown a reputation as being gay, why shouldn't she live up to that?" Kyouya responded.
"I AM NOT GAY!" Pumpkin's face grew red as her hands gripped at her sides.
Haruhi laughed out loud before joining Pumpkin at her side. "Hey, with everyone believing I'm a guy, and you being gay, we should hang out!"
"Wh- really? I thought.. you didn't like me because it's my fault your debt got doubled."
"It's alright. Besides, it was bound to happen soon enough." Haruhi smiled a little less.
"Do you think, Mitsukuni, that she has been accepted into our group.. a little quickly?" Mori whispered.
"Yea. But it's okay. Kyo-chan wouldn't have let her in if he didn't think it was okay." Hani responded, smile on his face.
"Mh." Mori hid his suspicions to himself, though.
