Chapter Name: Two Years Later…
Felicity
Moving to California has really made everything so much better, for everyone. My relationship with Oliver was better then ever, we got married a month after moving here and six months ago I found out that I was pregnant. We found out that we were having a little boy and Oliver was beyond excited. He couldn't wait to do the baby thing as he missed out with Madelyn, it was like a second chance for him and he was taking it with both hands and he wasn't going to let it go.
It was tough for Oliver to make the transition from the Arrow to a normal working guy but even though he has no college education or good school grades he is still doing pretty well. He actually owned his own gym in California in a good location right by the beach, he was making quite a lot of money from the business and he was thinking about extending the business a little further.
I managed to get my own company set up too, it was an IT firm and I don't want to blow my own trumpet but the company was doing well. Obviously it was still quite a small business, it takes a long time to set IT business' up. We had a small building and we were doing well right now, we have set up quite a good client list and it's doing good.
I looked over to the opposite side of the bed, it was empty and I knew exactly where I would find Oliver. He will be in the living room snuggled up on the sofa with Madelyn and they will be watching cartoons with cup of cocoa like they do every Saturday morning. I got out of bed as quietly as possible and sneaked into the living room, I stood in the doorway and watched the two of them. They looked so adorable "I hope I'm not interrupting" I said with a smile on my face.
"Of course not baby" Oliver replied. He turned around and smiled at me "Wanna come join us?" He asked me but I shook my head "You need to rest… you are always working too hard and doing something" He told me.
"Oliver I'm pregnant, not disabled" I replied. I walked into the kitchen and as I walked past the mirror in the hallway I looked at my bump and smiled as I put my hand over it and rubbed up and down. In the light my engagement and wedding ring glimmered and I smiled even more before walking into the kitchen "Anyone want anything?!" I called out into the living room.
"We're good thanks!" Oliver called back.
"Suit yourselves" I replied.
Once I had made myself something to eat I went back into the living room and sat down on the sofa. I sat next to Oliver and lifted my legs up so they rested on his legs, he turned to look at me with raised eyebrows and I just smiled back at him "Did you have a good sleep Madelyn?" I asked her.
"Yes, thank you mommy… are you feeling ok today?" She asked me.
"I'm fine thank you honey" I told her.
My pregnancy hasn't been the easiest, I have had a lot of sickness, pain, tiredness… my pregnancy with Madelyn was so easy and straight forward. This pregnancy has been terrible and I have to admit it really has put me off having anymore children, especially if pregnancy was going to be like this again. Madelyn had been so worried about me and she had been really helping me out a lot, she's only 6 years old but she does a lot of things around the house and when Oliver is at work Madelyn will look after me.
These were the days I cherish the most. When the three of us are sat here relaxing and just being comfortable in each other's company. I looked over at Oliver and I placed my hand over his, he looked over at me with a question look obviously thinking that something is wrong but I smiled at him "I love you" I said.
"I love you too" He replied.
"Eww" Madelyn said and giggled.
"Why is that eww?" I asked her.
"Cause you're old" She replied.
"Thanks very much" Oliver replied sarcastically.
The phone started ringing so Madelyn picked it up and handed it to Oliver to answer "Hello?" He said as he answered the phone. He went silent for a moment and then his face changed from relaxed to panicked and annoyed. He lifted my legs up and got off from the sofa and walked into the other room so I couldn't hear what he was talking about.
I instantly became worried. Who was he talking to? What was wrong? Was it something in Starling City? Was it here? Vegas? The gym? I wanted to go and listen in to the conversation but I know he will just tell me not to worry and everything is fine. He thinks that because I'm pregnant I can't handle things but I can, I'm fine "Is daddy ok?" Madelyn asked.
"He's fine baby" I answered "Come and give me a cuddle" I told her.
Oliver
The phone rang and because Felicity had her feet on me I couldn't get up to answer it, Madelyn took the phone off the stand and handed it to me "Hello?" I answered and I felt myself get worked up when I heard who was on the other side of the phone, it was Diggle calling… he only called when something bad was happening. I got up off the sofa and walked into the bedroom closing the door behind me so Felicity couldn't hear and get worried.
"I wanted you to hear it from me before you heard it from someone else" He started "I'm sorry to tell you this man but Roy and Thea have been in a car accident, they didn't make it" He stated.
"What?" I questioned, I wasn't sure what else to say.
"I'm so sorry man" He said.
"How?" I asked.
"They were driving down to surprise you and Felicity, a car lost control and crashed into them. They didn't stand a chance Oliver, I've seen the crash site… it would have been quick" He explained to me.
I know he was trying to make me feel better but nothing was going to make me feel better. My little sister and a guy I class as a younger brother, my brother-in-law in a way… they were both gone and I wasn't there to hold them, help them or even say one last goodbye to them "Thank you for telling me" I said and before Diggle could try and tell me something else I hung up the phone "Felicity!" I called out.
She came into the bedroom and I indicated for her to close the door over, which she did and she sat down next to me "What's the matter?" She asked me.
"Thea and Roy are dead" I blurted out without looking in her eyes, I couldn't look at her. I know she would be heartbroken. Since getting married Felicity and Thea had grown close and she saw Roy as a little brother and someone to look after.
"I… What do you mean? How can they be dead? I was speaking to Thea last night? What happened?" She questioned frantically.
I explained what Diggle had told me and she broke down, I hugged her close to me as she sobbed. I wanted to hold my emotions in because I wanted to be strong for her, I needed to be strong for her. She had enough going on right now and her emotions are high enough as it is and this was going to send her over the edge.
"I can't believe they're gone" She sobbed into my shoulder.
"I know… I can't believe it either. My little sister, my speedy is gone" I stated and it was then I heard the pitter patter of tiny feet coming our way, I didn't want to tell Madelyn this at the moment. It's not the right time to tell her and I didn't want Madelyn to see Felicity like this either "You stay here and calm down, I'll see to Madelyn" I told her and placed a kiss on the top of her head.
Once I was sure Felicity would be alight for a little while I came out of the bedroom and bumped, quite literally, into Madelyn "Is mommy ok? I can hear her crying" She told me.
"Mommy is ok, she just heard some bad news" I told her "Why don't we made her some beautiful pictures to make her feel better" I suggested to try and take Madelyn's mind off Felicity. Madelyn agreed and she grabbed hold of my hand before dragging me away to the kitchen table where she normally she does her coloring and other sorts of art work.
