"Well come on!" Says Bones – "at least we all know it wouldn't be me!"

"Okay" Kirk calls him out – "Why the hell not?"

"Well it's obvious isn't it? Almost all of you have better skill with weapons or at least some sort of fighting than me. Plus you're all much scarier. Hell I'd probably be the first to go."

"Not necessarily doctor" Spock chimes in – "In this purely hypothetical scenario it is highly likely that one or more of us would team up with you, your medicinal skills being of extreme potential use. We could – in this highly imaginary theory – keep you alive as an ally for any length of time and then kill you."

"Oh that's great. That's just dandy. Thanks for that vote of confidence Spock."

"I'd do okay" Kirk muses – "I figure my survival skills are pretty decent. I might even win."

Spock nods thoughtfully –

"You'd certainly do well Captain, I calculate your chances as the third best amongst the crew."

"Only third Spock really?"

"Indeed. After myself and Mr Sulu."

"After yourself and Mr Sulu?!"

Spock settles his face into one they all recognise as a precursor to a long explanation. Bones heaves a great sigh in preparation –

"Hope you're ready for this Jim" he mutters, sinking into his chair as far as it will go and closing his eyes expectantly.

"Obviously –" Spock begins – "I have the advantage, due to my combination of Vulcan strength and intelligence – "

Bones snorts loudly and Spock continues a little more firmly than before with that extra note in his voice that makes Kirk wonder if he is not just saying this at least partly to wind the good doctor up –

"I would, obviously be amongst the final survivors, but I would be disadvantaged, I suspect, by the strength of my attachments to certain of this crew –"

"You Spock?" Bones raises an eyebrow, grinning slightly – "You'd be the one who couldn't kill us because you'd get too – hmm – should we say emotional about it?"

Spock raises an eyebrow back at him –

"I believe I said certain of the crew Doctor." He replies archly, Kirk grinning now slightly in the back ground – "And there is no need to be insulting. However –"

"However when I came down to it Mr Sulu would take you by surprise and, if need be kill you all?" Uhura finishes for him, a little piqued that she was not included in the final list of survivors.

"Exactly" Spock nods, Sulu grinning behind him.

"Right!" Kirk jumps up, slapping a hand on the table – "This conversation has become ridiculous – who started it?"

"I believe you did Captain" Spock replies, carefully neutral.

"I did not!"

"Your words were, and I believe this is verbatim "So how would we all do if we were all contestants in the hunger games" I believe I have adequately answered this debate".

Kirk grumbles, not wishing to admit he had only asked out of wanting to hear everyone agree that he would win. And so the debate continues long into the night.

I know this isn't the usual crew- watch – a –movie format – but just assume that they have all just been watching The Hunger Games recently!

Personally my odds are entirely on Sulu!
