Today is a very special day for me, and I hope you all share the joy with me. One year ago, I published my first story here on FanFiction. (In the Woods, a Fruits Basket story.) It all really started when I had this dream. I thought about it and thought that it would be fun to see a story with the characters from Fruits Basket. I remembered that my one friend told me about FanFiction, so I decided to try writing. I really had no clue what I was going. It took me forever just to figure out how the website worked. But after I finished the story, I decided to write another one. And another and another and another... Looking back at old stories, I can't believe how much I've grown as a writer. I never even noticed that I became better. I guess practice really does make perfect.
So, in honor of my one year anniversary, I have a few special treats for you guys. First, I uploaded all my stories! (Not Meister and Reaper. It's still on hiatus.) So you may all enjoy reading updates on my stories in mass productions. The second prize for you all is a little more personal. I want to practice one-shots. If any of you have an idea for one, of just have a pairing request, PM me and let me know. I'll write it. And if I really like it and see potential, I'll eventually make it into a story. I'll write for any anime as long as I've seen it. Just ask me.
I really just want to thank you all for your love and support. I would have never imagined myself being this popular a year ago. I know I'm not super popular, but it seems like it when I write a story, wondering if anyone reads it at all. Just thank you so much.
Lucy was so glad to be back home. She was even more glad to be sitting on the couch, cuddled next to Gray. They were watching a movie, but they started talking at some point instead.
"Mira seemed pretty excited, too." Lucy laughed. "She said that she couldn't wait to buy cute clothes for her."
"Mira just gets excited about everything," Gray reminded her. "She'll be off at college, not even giving us a second thought."
"You're probably right." She looked down at his hand rubbing small circles on her stomach. His attitude did a completely 180 since the start. She was so glad for that. "Have you thought about any names?"
He blushed and looked away. "Maybe."
She laughed at his embarrassed face. "I've been thinking about it, too." She nuzzled her nose into his shoulder. "Uzumi, Mei, Ikari, Akemi, Rukia. There are so many adorable names. I don't even know. We only get to pick her name once. It has to be the perfect one."
"Ultear suggested Gracy. She said it's a mix of our names." He watched her face light up. "I really hate that name. It's too cliche, you know?"
"I guess you're right." She laughed slightly. "Laxus suggested Denise. Then if we ever have a boy it can be Denephew. He's such an idiot sometimes."
"Shouldn't a brother be discouraging kids? Yet he's encouraging more," he laughed.
"Don't let him fool you. He's just excited as I am."
A knock on the door startled them both. They both jumped up at the same time to answer the door. Gray said he would get it, but Lucy still went up with him. They were shocked to see who was on the other side. A guy with longer black hair in a tux stood there with a flower in his hand. "Hello?" Lucy asked, an eyebrow raised.
The man seemed just as shocked as they were. "Oh, is Layla there?" he asked. He rubbed the back of his neck due to nervousness.
"I'll be out in a minute!" the three hear Layla tell from the back hall. Seconds later, she came running down the hall, fishing an earring through her right ear. She was wearing a slick red dress and high heals, her hair down up in a bun.
"You look beautiful," the man said. He stepped forward and kissed Layla's forehead. She smiled up at him.
"Um, who is this?" Lucy all but snapped. She shot a glare at the man. Having a random guy walk in and kiss her mother was not something she enjoyed seeing.
"Oh! You haven't had a chance to meet him, have you?" Layla asked. "This is Zeref. actually, we've been going out for a while now." She laughed awkwardly.
"Were you not going to tell me?!" Lucy yelled angrilly. "You have an important person in your life and you just don't tell me?!" Gray put his hand on her shoulde. She shrugged him off. "Do I mean that little?" She buried her face in her hands and started crying. Not just a few tears. All out sobs.
The three just watched her cry, all surprised. She went to completely pissed to a crying mess in two seconds. There was no denying that she was pregnant. "Gray?" Layla asked. He nodded in understanding and led the crying girl out of the room. The remaining blonde turned to Zeref. "I'm sorry. She's a little emotional, being pregnant and all."
"It was still nice to meet her," Zeref said with a smile. "Come on, let's get going." He put his hand at the small of her back and led her out the door.
Back in Lucy's room, she waa in a daze, half asleep. She was sitting in Gray's lap with him rocking her slighylt. She loved how he would sill carry her somewhere or do something like that despite her size. He was a second-degree black belt, after all, so he would be strong.
"Baby, why don't you go to sleep?" Gray asked, rubbing her back soothingly. She felt like a little kid being put to sleep after a nightmare. But she just loved it when he called her that. He wasn't one for pet named, but he seemed to like saying that every so often.
"Tell me a story." She remembered a time when he told her a story until she fell asleep. It worked really well to put he. To sleep before
Gray thought a moment. "It was only a couple weeks after you left. We were all sitting in class. Natsu thought it would be a good idea to kiss Lisanna. For the first time. It was one of those embarassing ones when you picker your lips like you're going to kiss her aunt." He smiled down at her, seeing that she already fell asleep. His voice was very calming, so she would say. He was startled when she suddenly woke up with a gasp.
"What is that?" she asked. She sat up and put a hand on her stomach. "There it is again."
He put both his hands down, one beside and one over hers. He felt a jolt. "It's the baby kicking," he explained. They both smiled. It was the first time they've felt her move.
Laxus was leaning on the wall outside her room, grinning like an idiot.
Sorry for any spelling mistakes. I've been trying to get this chapter done all day, and it looks like I won't have time to proofread before the day is over.
