Apologies, cause I wrote this for Christmas and then forgot completely to post it so it's maybe not hugely relevant now but eh, here you go. :-)

Muppet Christmas Carol

"Captain I do believe you have been a little less than honest with me" Spock said ten minutes in.

"Less than honest?" Kirk thought about this – "Oh – you mean when I said this was the most accurate movie representation of A Christmas Carol ever made?"

"Indeed Captain."

"Oh I dunno Spock –"

"Captain the vast majority of the characters are puppets and there is a bizarre forth-wall- breaking representation of Charles Dickens who is inexplicably blue and long nosed and if I may quote this movie "Hangs out with a rat"" Spock moved around the words as though they were awkwardly shaped and slightly bad tasting in his mouth.

"It's true to the spirit of the original anyway" Kirk maintained – "Anyway shush, you're being a Grinch."

"Ah yes, the movie you suggested we view last Christmas season – I do not see that I resemble a large green, somewhat morose –"

"You don't, eh?" Bones cut in, grinning from ear to ear.

"Walked in to that one Spock" Kirk smiled – "Give the muppets a chance, you'll love them."

Whether he did or not, Spock did not comment for the next hour and a half rather than interrupt the crew's impassioned singing along to all the songs, apart from once, to nod and echo Scrooge musingly in his words – "I've never quite understood about Christmas."

Nevertheless by the end he was coming as close to smiling as the crew had ever seen and watching the rapt and silent interest Kirk knew he would never admit meant he was hooked.

"So Spock" Kirk grinned – "Favourite Muppet?" He knew he had converted Spock because for a moment he looked extremely thoughtful, then nodded and replied –

"Your Kermit the frog is an immensely likeable character but I have to say I am drawn to this Great Gonzo character."

"Brilliant!" Bones announced – "Let's show him Muppets from space next and watch to see if he tears up"

"Doctor McCoy I must inform you that I would never as you put it tear up simply at a movie."

"Or the first Muppet movie!" Kirk added, ignoring this obvious lie – "See if you can sit dry eyed through I'm going to go back there some day!"

"Or even It's not easy being green" Bones added, more delighted with the idea than anyone had seen him in a long time, laughing himself under the table while Kirk pretended not to be as amused as he was.

Spock frowned at them bewildered before realising that this was, once again, friendly teasing, a practice he found it hard to get used to in spite of the vast amount of it he seemed to receive. He shook his head, sighed, and three weeks later, blushed the colour of leaves when Kirk found him in the music room softly strumming along and singing Rainbow Connection which had quickly become his all-time favourite song.

Muppet Christmas Carol actually IS the best Christmas movie ever made and nobody can tell me otherwise, and yes, I am so sorry but I really really can see Spock sitting cross legged on a lily pad, strumming a banjo and singing Rainbow Connection and, yes It's Not Easy being Green. :-)
