"Ya know." Kodo slumped over the back of one of the couches Tamaki sat at with Haruhi. "Everyone else has a rose color except me."

"Is that important?" Haruhi asked, looking up at her. "It seems a little much to want something like that I think."

"But I want one tooo." Whining, Kodo pouted as she stared at the large rose arrangement sitting on the table in front of them.

"Well." Tamaki thought a moment before counting on his fingers. "Haruhi's is red, Hikaru's is a light blue, Kaoru's is orange, Mori's is a dark blue, Hani's is pink, Kyouya's is purple, and mine of course, is white!" Taking one of the long stemmed white roses from the bouquet, he held it as he posed for her. "Fitting, I think~?"

"Right. Innocent and dense, void of color and logical thought. Perfectly fitting!" Grinning, Kodo patted him on the shoulder as he turned to stone from the insult.

"Actually." Kaoru appeared next to her. "I think a color like black would suit you."

"Doesn't Nekozawa-senpai usually carry black roses?" Hikaru asked.

"Who's Nekozawa?" Kodo asked.

"Actually, he would still be a senpai to you, Purple-chan." They said simultaneously.

"It's not 'Purple-chan'! And who is-" At that moment a chill went down her spine as doors opened that she wasn't even aware of in the room, across the way. From within a swirl of darkness emerged and a figure appeared, holding out a hand with a cat puppet covering it, arms moving slowly.

"It seems.. I've been summoned.."

"GAH! PUMPKIN, YOU'VE SUMMONED THE EVIL DARK LORD!" Tamaki jumped behind the couch, peering over the top at the doors.

"What!" Her arm raised up as she was genuinely surprised. "I thought Ohtori-kun was the dark lord!"

"What ever brought you to that conclusion?" Kyouya pushed up his glasses as he stood nearby. "I am only a supposed secretary for Tamaki."

"Exactly! Supposed!"

"What sort of task could I possibly be of assistance with, oh Tamaki-kun?" That mellow voice called out, cat puppet dancing on his hand.

"Nothing, thanks for dropping by!" Tamaki waved his hand at him.

"Actually." Kodo looked from Tamaki to the cat puppet. "I mean, I know you're not apart of our club, but I could use some help finding out what color suits me best. What do you think?"

The cat paused it's movements as the cloaked figure emerged further into the room, sliding slowly towards them and lowering his arm as he looked out from under his hood. "Yellow."

There was a long pause as his voice echoed louder than expected into the room.

"NO."

"Then let us settle this with a spell." Nekozawa walked toward them, hunched over, pulling a crystal ball in the shape of a cat's head from his dark cloak.

"What are you gunna do with that?" Kodo took a step backward as he came forward, setting it down on the table.

"Hmmm?" The puppet went back up as it moved. "We are going to discover your true, inner color.

"W-why can't I- just take a rainbow rose? People think- er- I mean, I'm gay, sooo why not?" Sweatdropping, she placed a hand behind her head.

"Because it would be a lie!" Nekozawa's puppet made small gestures toward her hands. "Now, place your hands on the crystal cat, and rub it's ears.'

"Is that necessary?" Her shoulders slumped.

"If you do not wish to know who you are, who you truly are, then you may back down. But this is a one time offer." Already he was reaching for the crystal cat-head.

"No, it's okay! I'll do it."

"Whatever happens, no matter what, do not move your hands from it!"

"R-right." Stretching her fingers out, Kodo gulped as she slowly reached for it, everyone watching intently as her palms pressed against the crystal, her fingers moving to lightly rub the points on the top. "N-now what?" With that, the drapes were suddenly closed and the lights went out, the only light being emitted from the crystal ball itself.

"Gah!" Everyone jumped.

"Don't move your hands! Eeda mein, keri ila bee atay ki un.." On and on Nekozawa made gibberish noises, his hands waving round and round the crystal ball that Kodo's hands rested on.

"Look!" Hikaru and Kaoru pointed. "There's clouds in there, swirling around her hands!"

"Witchcraft!" Tamaki hissed as he held up a pillow to his face, slowly looking over it to watch.

"Uhh-ah!" Kodo jumped a little as tingles went through her hands up to her elbows. "What the heck is this thing!"

"Shh.. Shhh!" Raising his arms, Nekozawa continued his mumbling gibberish until colors started forming under Kodo's fingers. "Here it comes!" He hissed, and everyone leaned in close to watch as the colors changed from white, to black, to purple, to blue, all the way through the spectrum and back again until finally it ended up back at yellow and shined brightly. "There, there!"

"Oooooh!" Hikaru, Kaoru, and Hani sang, clapping.

"You've got to be kidding me." Her hands finally were freed to move.

"Actually." Kyouya tapped at his phone. "In psychology, yellow is the color of the mind and intellect. It is optimistic and cheerful. However, it can also suggest impatience, criticism, and cowardice. In a way, it is indeed fitting." Closing his phone, he walked over to Nekozawa who was putting the crystal ball back in his cloak. "I wonder how were you able to tell so quickly? Perhaps there is a way we can monopolize on this."

"The way of the secret black magic club is none of your concern!" Nekozawa pulled his arms away from Kyouya.

"Goooood afternoon everyone!" Hikaru and Kaoru pulled back the drapes, letting in all the sunlight and blinding everyone.

Nekozawa took off like the speed of sound. "KYAAAAH!" All the way back through those doors he'd emerged from.

"Seriously? Yellow roses are something you'd give your sick grandmother." Sitting on the couch, Kodo slumped her shoulders. "And I hate that color, ever since I held this stupid uniform in my arms the first day."

"Actually, Pu-chan, I think he's right." Hani placed a thoughtful finger to his chin. "Yellow roses are associated with appreciation, joy, and delight. You hide those things about you, but not very well."

"Mh." Mori nodded. "You appreciate us, you've said so yourself."

"You do seem to have the most fun, and bring a lot of joy to customers." Haruhi added.

"Actually," Tamaki stood and walked around the couch back to where he was. "I agree! Yellow is a suiting color for you, and from now on, Pumpkin-san, you are the Yellow Rose of the Ouran High School Host Club!" Dramatically he pointed at her.

It wasn't like she could detest something everyone had unanimously agreed to without her consent, especially since these people were her friends. Besides, it could be interesting, right? "Well, shit."

A/N: A short chapter, taking place about a month before current events. It's a segue chapter. I'm not sorry. But I love you. OKAY I'M A LITTLE SORRY.

To StupidCrazy: I don't have the chapters pre-written! I'm posting them as I write them, so it'll be awhile between each chapter. Trust me, I'm just as excited as you are to see the next part! (Especially since the characters only seem to truly come alive AS I'm writing.)

To wealhtheow: Thanks! And yeaaa, but Mori and Kodo would be a bad combo. She's really abrasive and came close to raping him. It's a good thing she's an honest person, for the most part.
