Cinderella
(With a side order of Game of Thrones! :-))
"Oh" Kirk announced, as the movie started – "I thought we were getting the animated one".
"Am I going mad or is that disappointment?" Bones frowned – "You don't mean to tell me you wanted the singing mice and the no- name prince now did you?"
Kirk realised that there was no answer to this that sounded good and so only Spock heard him mumble "I liked the singing mice" as he settled into his seat.
"So what?" he turned to Bones a minute later – "You're saying you chose to watch this? I never saw you as the glass slipper kind of guy."
"It's the –" Bones went red – "I just wanted to see Robb Stark get a happy ending. That's all."
Kirk groaned and, not for the first time, pelted Bones with popcorn for his Game of Thrones obsession. Bones put his hands up in surrender and settled back down muttering that it was hardly his fault if Ned Stark had been his favourite character only to be preceded in season two by Robb, how was he to know what was going to happen?
"I told you not to get attached -" Kirk shrugged.
"Says the man who cried in the second episode ever"
"Just wait until you get to season eight"
Still, despite all of his objections Kirk still found himself becoming strangely moved towards the end of Cinderella. He was even coming to regret his earlier behaviour of humming The Rains of Castamere menacingly at Bones whilst Cinderella and the prince were dancing. He was about to open his mouth to make some kind of an apology when Spock saved him.
"She took the nickname and made it something she was proud of" he observed, musingly – "There is something in that I believe and must concur that I like it."
"Yes, thank you for that analysis Spock" Bones rolled his eyes, though he was smiling at the screen with unusual fondness.
"I can feel a curious affection for cheesy Disney morals coming on" Kirk added.
"Yes" Spock stated "Have courage and be kind – I am not sure I would really describe this as "Cheesy" Captain."
"There's something to it" Kirk agreed – "It's not as easy as it sounds"
"Shall we all nod and agree that we have learned a valuable lesson as we fade to credits?" Bones looked between his friends. They all smiled at each other as though captured in a shared joke as the scene upon the Enterprise did indeed fade to credits, the voices of the crew all singing A Dream is a Wish floating over the top.

Uh, that went surreal towards the end, I dunno, I'm sorry – and for not writing this forever, I've been more busy than I ever would like! :-)
