Chapter 13-

I don't have friends.

Now that I think about it, I hardly have any at all.

I cannot count Feliciano or Romeo, they're my brothers.

The Bad Touch Trio?
Ha, the day hell freezes over will I be their friend!

Potato Bastard?
Fuck no!

Asian kid?
Psh, he's too weird.

The only one I can think of is, Matthew. Matthew is basically the only friend I have right now.

Which makes me wonder, why the hell did I come to this dance?
Dances are suppose to be a place where you can hang out and party with your friends. In movies and t.v. shows, teenagers are seen dancing with their dates or closes friends. They take a bunch of pictures to remember the night. A dance is meant so you can have fun with the people around you. What the hell am I suppose to do, stand in the corner by myself?
I can't hang out with Antonio because I am pretty sure he'll be with his dumb ass friends!

"Lovino, are you gonna get out?"

I look up and see the tomato bastard looking down at me with that goofy smile. He had already gotten out of the car while I still stayed seated.
"Um no. Wait, I mean yes." I unbuckle my seat belt and get out of the vehicle.

A gust of wind blows in our direction, making our hair fly everywhere. The air brings goosebumps to my arms and I cannot help, but shiver.

"Hm, cold Lovino?"

I shake my head, "Yeah. Aren't you?"

Antonio shrugs his shoulders. "No, but come on, let's go inside."

We walk towards the gym, where the dance is being held and I can already hear the music blaring. We reach the front doors and I have to say, the gym looks good.
There's a red carpet that starts a few feet away and leads all the way to the front doors. The wall is covered in colorful streamers, plastic glowing stars, and other kinds of decorations that call out for attention. And the door's entrance has a huge balloon archway, with some weird lighting set up somewhere that makes it seem as if stars are falling onto the ground.
Whoever planned this did a pretty good job on the outside.

"Looks pretty, si?"

"Si, I like it."

There are a couple of students standing outside the gymnasium doors, all dressed and ready to enter. The more attention I pay to them, the more I realize they are glaring at me. Just me, not Antonio. I glare back, knowing what is going on. These kids aren't hanging out outside just for fun. No, they were outside the dance because they aren't allowed in.

I glance back at Antonio and see him give our tickets to the teacher who stands usher by the doors. Looking over his shoulder, Antonio waves me over, signaling we're in. I head towards him and realize why those kids are angry at me.

They probably think I got in for free.

And to be honest, I did get in for free.

I didn't pay for my ticket, Antonio did.
If I had come without Antonio then my grandfather would of bought me a ticket.

So yeah, I am basically walking in for free...

"Oh wow, look at this place!"

Gold lights bounce from one wall to another, violet and blue streamers connected from one corner to the next, creating a large 'x' on the ceiling, while a computer projections made it seem as if there was gold dust falling from the roof. Thousands of balloons laid on the floor, some floating in the air, other placed as weight holders on the tables, all black and white. A huge banner hung on the center wall that reads, 'Welcome to Homecoming!'.
Most of the students are in the center of the gym, dancing away, while others stand by the sidelines chattering and socializing. The DJ the school hired, has his system set up on a small stage near a corner, the food tables are lined up against another wall, and on the other side of the gymnasium there is a photographer.
Aside from the crappy music that is playing, everything else seems fine.

Now all I have to do is stay hidden from Nonno and Feliciano. Should be easy, right?
I better have not jinxed that!

"Come on!" Antonio grabs my hand and pulls me deep into the dance.

Wait.
This bastard is holding my freaking hand!

"Let go you creep!"
So much for shouting, the music only blares over my voice. Stupid Justin Timberlake and his dumb ass love songs.
I am dragged away into the crowd and I try my best not to touch the people around me.

"Oh look, Francis and Gilbert are here!"

I throw my head back and let out a groan. I knew this was gonna happen, exactly why I did not want to come.

"Guys, hey guys!" And there he goes, calling them over.

French and Albino bastard turn around from the food table, searching for the voice that called them.
Francis is the first to spot us. "Mon ami, you came!"

At first the two bastards can't see me because I am literally hiding behind Antonio. But no, Antonio pushes me forward as if he is trying to show me off.

"And you brought the Italian brat as your date. Keseseses!"

My fists curl up into balls and I feel my face grow warm. Coming with Antonio was a mistake and this just proves why.

"Gilbert, Lovino is not my date. We just came as friends." Antonio lifts up his hands in a surrendering pose and chuckles awkwardly.

Francis pushes a strand of hair away from his face. "Friends, huh?"

"Yes friends, you better remember that!" I snap, ready to punch any of the three bastards.

"So Francis," Antonio says. We all look at him, the current center of attention, "Where's Angelique?"

Frenchie takes a sip of his drink and sighs. "Her mother didn't let me take her."

"Por que no?"

"I don't know. Angelique's mother said something about what I was doing was wrong and inappropriate. I don't remember, but Aunt Natalie was freaking out.

Antonio simply nods his head in understanding with his mouth slightly open.

The conversation comes to an end and thus, an awkward silence grew around us. Francis takes more sips from his blue, plastic cup and Antonio is playing with the tip of his tie.
Gilbert snaps his fingers, catching our attention. "Come on guys, let's go stand by the girl's bathroom and try to take a peek."

Agreeing on the suggestion, the Bad Touch Trio walk away.

Those bastards just left me, as if I am not even here. Dammit, I'm really mad at Antonio because I'm his partner!

Fuck, I didn't mean it like that! My tongue just slipped, that's all! I would never consider myself as Antonio's partner! Never! Not in a million years! I rather go eat-

"Hey look, it's the Vargas kid!"

I peek over my shoulder with a quickness and narrow my eyes.
It's not me. No, it's probably Feliciano they're calling. No one even remembers who I am. But you know, just to be sure I am looking out at the people near me.

"Vargas kid! Over here, over here!"

Feliciano, it's Feliciano who they're looking for.

"Why isn't he paying attention to us?"

"You git, he probably can't hear us!"

I search around to see if Feli is nearby, but I do not see him. No sign of him or his curl.

"Hey there Lovino!"

"Chigi!" The minute I turn back around I come face to face with a pair of blue eyes.
And then my ears suffer through an annoying fit of laughter.

"Hahaha, aw man you face! It's so red!"

Taking a deep breath, I focus on the person, correction, people in front of me. "Hello to you too, Alfred." I throw the other two boys a wave, "Arthur. Matthew."
Arthur, who appears really irritated only nods. Matthew, on the other hand waves back and say something, but I cannot hear what.

"Whatcha doing here Lovino? Feliciano said that you weren't coming." Alfred shouts even though it isn't necessary.

"What!? You talked with my brother?"

The American grins, "Yep, and he said you weren't going to come."

"First of all, don't talk to my brother. Ever! And second, don't you dare tell him I'm here!"

"Hm, hiding from your younger brother? I thought the younger ones hid from the older siblings."

"Oh shut up bushy-brows!" And that shall be Arthur's new nickname.

Arthur makes a 'hmph' noise and turns his head the other way.

"Anyways..." Alfred continues, "Did you come with a date or something?"

He just has to ask that, didn't he? "If you must know, I did not."

"Figures." The British loser chuckles under his breath.

I raise my arm, ready to punch him, when Alfred speaks up. "Hey Arthur, let's go dance!" Alfred grabs Arthur's wrist and tugs him away.

Arthur begins to squirm and pull away from his American friend. "Let me go you wanker!"

I roll my eyes and face Matthew, who is currently staring at his shoes.
"So why are you here?"

Matthew looks up, his violet eyes gleaming from the lights around us. "Huh? Oh, um... Alfred made me come."

"Let me guess, he made Arthur come too?" Matthew pauses for a moment then shakes his head in agreement. "Thought so."
I offer him my cup of soda, which he turns down. Wait. When the fuck did I get soda? Must of been Antonio. Thanks fucker.

"-nio bring you?" Matthew smiles me.

Why is he smiling? "What?"

"Did Antonio bring you?"
I blink once, stone expression on my face. Matthew chuckles, "I'm taking that as a yes."

"Hey, you can't just assume that!"

"You're right, I can't. But your red face proves it."

My face is red? "It's just the lights Matt."

"Surree," He chuckles once again.

-A While Later-

"Lovino? Is that Lovino?"

I swallow my drink, "Did you hear someone say my name?"

"No." Matthew replies and continues to eat chips from his bowl.

"Si, it is him! Fratello!"

Did... Did I just hear the word 'fratello'? It can't be Feliciano. If it is him then I'm screwed!
I look over at Matthew and see him peering at me over his lenses.

"Lovino!"

My eyes come up and I see him. "Ahhh! Feliciano what the fuck!?"

My brother throws himself on me, wrapping his arms around my neck. "I thought you weren't coming? You told Nonno that-"

I push him off and he stumbles back a bit. "I know. Don't you dare tell him I'm here or else I'll... I'll rip off your curl!"

His amber eyes grow large as he knew the outcome of me cutting off his curl.
My own eyes glance over to the people behind Feliciano. "Feli, where's your date?" I see the blonde German and the short Asian, but no girl.

"Lili? Oh, her big brother wanted to speak with her. Something about not to talk to strangers." Feliciano looks around, "Hey Lovino, where's your date?"

"My what?"

He giggles, "Your date. You know, the reason why..." He leans in close to my face. "The reason why Nonno can't know you're here."

Really..? What are we, ten years old? Freaking Feli acts like we are!
"I didn't bring a date fratello."

"You didn't? Then why are you hiding from Nonno?"

Matthew chuckles behind me, he knows why I am hiding and who I came with. Speaking of which, I haven't seen that bastard in a while. Did he leave or something? He better have not, he's my ride home. Fuck!

"Lovino!"
I hear my name and squint my eyes at the crowd to see who it could be.
Three figures grow larger with each step they take.

Feliciano does not see the figures because he has his back to them, but he can hear them. "Fratello, is someone calling you?"

Gilbert, Francis, and Antonio slowly start to come into clear view. "Uh no, ignore it." But how do you ignore three bastards that are literally a step away?

"Guten tag pipsqueaks. Awesomeness just arrived!"

Fuck my life...
The five of us came in contact with blue, green, and red eyes.

Gilbert threw his arm around Ludwig's neck and laughs. "How you liking the party West?"
Did he just call him West?

"It's all right I guess." Ludwig scrunches his nose and inhales. "Bruder, you smell of beer."

"I do?" The Albino lifts his hand up to his mouth, blows his breath towards it, and then smells it. "You're right, I do. I should be careful around the teachers."

Where the fuck did he get beer from?
I hope Antonio wasn't drinking, his mom told him no to. He's my ticket home.

"So, is everyone having a good time?" Francis looks a bit dazed, maybe even tipsy. But then again, Francis always looks dazed.

"Si, si, I am! I am!" Antonio's eyes shift over to Feli, who is literally jumping up and down. "I'm glad Luddy and Kiku came!"

"Um Feliciano..." Ludwig says.

"Yes Luddy?"

"Shouldn't we go look for our dates?"

Whoa, now this caught my attention. The German bought a date to the dance? No way!

"Oh yeah, you're right."
Ludwig taps on Kiku's shoulder and motions for him to follow them.

Once they are out of sight, I look at Gilbert.

"What?" He asks. The look on my face must of gave it away because he then replies, "Oh, Ludwig huh? Yeah, he asked some girl from Taiwan to come." A smirk curls on his lips. "What is it? Jealous?" He then begins to laugh his annoying laugh, "Keseseses!"

"Look, he's over there!"

Immediately, Gilbert stops laughing, his whole body and face freezes.

"Gilbert! Oh, Gilbert over here!"

Gilbert, whose eyes are widen in disbelief, slowly comes back to reality and loses the tension from his body.
Francis slightly chokes on his drink as a couple, boy and girl, approach closer. I peek at Antonio and see he looks a bit annoyed.

The pair stands before us, well actually in front of Gilbert, and right away I know the girl is.
The girl from the lunch room.

Her brown hair reached up to her waist, the tips curled and she has large, green eyes that are pretty. The girl is wearing a light brown dress that sort of puffed out at the bottom. It is plain and simple, nothing too fancy.

And the guy, her date, is dressed like most males here; a black suit that is buttoned up half-way and a brown bow tie to top off the outfit. His chestnut hair is slicked back, a single cowlick up in the air. His pale skin shines under the lights and the light reflected off his glasses which are protecting some mad looking, purple eyes.

"So you did come after all Gilbert."

The Albino blinks, "Huh? Oh uh, yeah..."

"Hello Antonio! Francis!" The girl says, a heavy accent on her tongue, waving at the two friends. "Roderich came as well!"
Roderich, the snobby guy, is Elizabeth's date.

I shuffle backwards and stand shoulder to shoulder with Matthew. "Who are they?"

"Elizabeth Héderváry, Hungarian, and Roderich Edelstien, Austrian."

"What's the back story?" There's always a back story.
Obviously, this one revolves around Gilbert, Elizabeth, and Roderich. The only thing that pops into my mind is: love triangle.

"And therefore, that's why Gilbert and Roderich dislike each other."

"Wait, what?" Was Matthew talking to me this whole time? Damn, I really need to stop blacking out.

"I said that-"

"Fratello! Fratello!"

Dio mio, I cannot get one fucking minute to myself in this place!

Everyone who is around me stop their conversations.

Feliciano comes skipping up towards me. "Lovino!" His amber eyes are staring up into my own.

"What the hell do you want? And keep quiet, Nonno might hear you."

Feli takes a step back, "Oh right, sorry Lovino." He grabs my shoulders and shakes me a bit. "I've been having so much fun tonight and... and I really like Lili!"

"Good for you Feli." Speaking of the girl, "Hey, where is Lili?"

"Oh, she had to leave. Her big brother said it was getting late."

Someone laughs.
Roderich.
"Oh yes, that does sound like Vash. It's not even 10 o'clock yet."

Gilbert joins in on the laughter and slowly, so does Elizabeth.

The rooms grows a bit quite as the music becomes softer and a slow song begins to play.

"Roderich! Roderich, let's go dance!"
And just like that, Elizabeth pulls Roderich towards the center of the dance floor.

"Ha, that poor sucker." The Albino chuckles as he watches the scene before him.

Multiple number of couples are dancing, hugging each other so they can be close to one another.
I watch the couples dance. Elizabeth and Roderich and dancing in place, barely moving. The Hungarian has her arms around her partner's neck and is wearing a big grin. The Austrian has his arms around Elizabeth's waist and a small smile planted on his face. The two of them look really happy, just like every other couple dancing.

"Hey Lovino, want to dance?"

I whip my head towards the bastard and I swear, I heard my neck crack.
"What!?" I'm glaring at Antonio so hard my eyebrows actually hurt.

His eyes are fixed on the people dancing. "Do you want to slow dance with me?"

I open my mouth to reply, but instead laughter comes out. And it isn't my laugh.
Nope. It belongs to Albino and Frenchie. Those idiots are laughing at me!

"Fuck no!"

"Hm?" Antonio looks away from the crowd. "Why not?"
Is he really asking that? Does he not know how gay that is?"
"Can't dance?"

I take a step forward, "Excuse me?"

"You can't dance, that's why you're rejecting me."

And that my friends, is the last straw.
"Do you realize who you are talking to!?" I take another step forward, now inches away from Antonio's face. "You're talking to an Italian! And I'll have you know that Italians are the best dancers in the world!"

"After the Spanish."

My eyes grow wide with anger, "Say that again."

"The Italians are the second best dancers in the world. After the Spanish."

I crack as those words spill from Antonio's mouth. "Feliciano..." With a growing smile and eyes gazing at the bastard, I say, "Go tell the DJ I want an upbeat song."

Feliciano claps his hands and runs off to the DJ's booth. Matthew and Ludwig look at each other and trade comments. Antonio turns towards his friends and gives them a wink. Dammit, what the hell am I getting myself into? Calm down Lovino, it's just dancing. You're an amazing dancer for crying out loud. After this dance, Antonio is going to be wishing he kept his big mouth shut.

A loud scratchy noise fills our ears and causes the music to stop. When the music does not continue, the students begin to "boo" and complain.

"Sorry guys, but I just received a request!" The DJ spoke on his microphone. "Can we please clear dance floor? I just got word that we are having a dance battle!"
Everyone in the gym begins to cheer and whistle with excitement. They then move away from the center, crowding around the sidelines and make enough room for two people to dance.
"Sweet! Now can I please have Lovino Vargas and Antonio Carriedo on the floor?"

Fuck you Feli for giving the guy my name! I didn't ask you to do that.

Antonio grabs my hand and pulls me to the empty dance floor.
A white spotlight flashes directly on us and nearly blinds me. I can hear whispering nearby and instantly know it's about me. I can feel the stares people are giving me. Of course, one of the Vargas kids has to make a scene.

"Alright then, we have our dancers! Let's give them a big cheer!"
The gym bursts into loud claps, cheers, and whistles. A few kids even have their phones out, ready to take pictures and videos of us.

"Yeaaaahhhh, Antonio!"
"Come on Antonio, you can do it!"

I keep my head down, ignoring everyone around me, but from the corner of my eye I see Antonio. He is waving at the students, or should I say fans. I don't care if people are cheering for me or not, I just want this to end already!

"Okay everyone, let's start this dance!"

(AN- Sorry to interrupt the story guys, but I have a quick note to add. I suggest to listen to the song Harlem by New Politics as you read on. And if you do listen to the song then you may want to play it now.)

And before I open my mouth to complain, the music starts to play.
And right away, I recognize the song.

"Aye! Go! Aye!"
Harlem by New Politics.

Everyone around us start to clap their hands to the beat; one, two, and repeat.
All I can do is stand here, swallowing my nerves.
Not only is the crowd staring at me, but Antonio is as well.
I have to do something.

I stomp my feet, the rhythm of the song on my heels, arms up in the air.

"Up on the sun, lookin' sad and beautiful."

I slide my left leg up and then slide my right one, arms by my side shaking around.

Antonio then begins, stomping his right foot and clapping four time.

Both Antonio and I spin in our own circle, the bastard merely laughing away.

"Ooh, shake it like a bad girl up in Harlem."

We shake our heads, clap our hands, and jump up in place.

"Ooh, light it up, yeah, smoke 'em if you got 'em."

I slide my feet across the floor, almost as if I am shuffling.
Then I change it up and hop in place, my arms up in the air making random movements that match the beat.

"Run like me, like hell, like everybody else."

Antonio's dance is faster, his left foot goes inward and then his right. It's like he's dancing backwards.
I watch him dance. He spins in a circle and stops on the tip of his toes.
He drops, but his legs spread out in a splits position. His hands touch the floor, catching him before he hits the ground and he jumps back up on his two feet.

"When it gets loud I turn it up."

Taking a step back, I move my body to the beat and lift my arms up when suddenly...

Antonio grabs my waist with one hand and laces his fingers with my other hand.
I place my free hand on his shoulder and our hips follow the rhythm.

"What the hell bastard?" I whisper through a clenched mouth.
Who does he think he is, grabbing me!?

Antonio's lip move, but I can't hear him due to all the noise around us. So I ignore him and continue dancing.

"You're so sweet, but I like it rough."

I am spun in a circle, our fingers slowly letting go of each other.

I shake my fist around me, then drop to my knees and quickly come back up in a swift movement.

Antonio is stomping his right foot again, hands on hips and his body is moving to the drummer's bangs.

I clap my hands and gaze at Antonio, who follows my actions.
We spin in a circle that revolves around each other, like Ying and Yang.
Our feet drag on the floor, the tip our right foot meeting, only to be slowly pulled away from one another.

Antonio's hair flaps around as his head shakes and his hips seem to be moving on their own.
And then Antonio winks at me!

"Just like you, like I, like fingers in your mouth."

With my hands on my hips, I kick my right foot out front and draw my left one back.

"Just like you, like me, like everybody else."

Antonio's feet are moving so fast, they look like a blur.
Not to mention that he's dancing and spinning in a circle.

We jump up in the air, shaking our fist in rhythm.

"Ooh, shake it like a bad girl in Harlem."

Our feet slide from left to right in perfect timing.

My right hand finds Antonio's, the other one rests on his shoulder again.
His free hand moves onto my waist and our bodies sway to the beat.

Laughter escapes my lips as does a huge grin.

"Ooh, like I look at a bad girl up in Harlem."

Everything goes by fast, but before I know it, my left leg curls around Antonio's waist.

His green eyes firmly locking with my hazel ones.

My heart beats against my chest. The blood in my veins rushes up to my ears. I can feel my pulse throbbing in my skull.
In this exact moment, time is frozen, everything is still, except for me.

"Ladies and gentlemen, give it up for Lovino and Antonio!"

I blink once, twice, multiple times and realize time is back to normal.

Everyone, and I mean everyone, is going crazy. All I see is people clapping, smiling, and a few kids are taking pictures.
Seeing the reaction makes me gasp in surprise.
The reason behind all this excitement is because I danced. I danced in front of all these people.
The cheering and clapping does not stop, which for some reason is not bothering me.

"Wow, you can dance."

My eyes meet Antonio's green eyes again. His forehead is shiny with sweat and he is slightly panting.

I notice my breath is uneven as well and the back of my shirt is a bit wet.
And... And our faces are so close I can feel his breath on my skin.

"Yay Lovino! That's my fratello!"
Feli... Feliciano is cheering for me?

"I knew Lovino was awesome when it comes to dancing!"
Gilbert?

"Sharp on his feet, no?"
And Francis?

They... They're cheering for me.

"That's my grandson!"
Nonno!

"Fuck!" I remove my leg off of Antonio's body and slip my hand away from his shoulder. "We have to go, Now!" Our left hands are still connected, so I pull Antonio close (closer) to me. "Don't fall behind bastard!" I have to leave before Nonno catches me. The celebrations will have to end early.
I push my way through the crowd and try to get past all the people.

"Dude, that amazing!"
"Show me your dance moves!"
Everyone is trying to talk to us, but Antonio and I keep moving.

You know, they say when you go to dances you're suppose to have fun. Those hours are meant for you to party with your friends or perhaps even a date. The Homecoming dance is one of the biggest dances of the year, after Prom. Yeah well, this dance was stupid. Why did I come? At first, I had no idea as to why I came. But now I know why. As I look behind me, I see the reason why I decided to stay. It's about the people around you, your friends. My friends made this dance worth wild. That's why Antonio and I, left hand in hand.

AN- Wasn't this an amazing chapter!? Did you all get nosebleeds or what? xD I, myself, love the dance battle that took place and honestly, it took me forever to come up with dance moves. As you may know, I am not that great when it comes to describing things so yeah, I had a hard time. If you listened to the song while reading the story then that must of been a good experience. If you didn't then that's okay, the story is still good even without the song.

Okay this AN is taking long so I will just end it already.
