Chapter 5 – Facing Death

Jacky groaned as he laid Tsubaki down on the only gurney left in the clinic. "You're all really making this a busy day for me," Litchi groaned. Upon the sight of Tsubaki's unconscious body, Jin was by her side in seconds. He unsheathed Yukinanesa and pressed the cold blade against Jacky's neck. "What the hell did you do to her?"
In response to Jin's threat, his skin turned scaly and his tail emerged from his waist. He grabbed the sword and pushed it away, not minding the pain of being cut on the palm of his hand. "Cool it, icepop, or you're going to melt away. I would never raise a hand against Tsubaki, I swear." Jin begrudgingly resheathed his weapon after wiping Jacky's blood off the blade. "She was acting strangely, though. For one thing, her eyes weren't their usual blue color. They were blood red. I have a feeling she was being influenced by someone."
"Impressive, for a filthy reptile. It's not as if she's being controlled, so influence would be the correct word. The problem is the person who's controlling her."
As if on cue, a violet-haired girl appeared from nowhere with an unknown person. The violet-haired girl looked familiar and it didn't take long for Jacky to recognize her as Saya. Before she could speak, Jacky summoned Drakos and swung the sword at her, intending to behead her, but is stopped by an unknown force. "Why the hell can't I move?"
"It is Phantom's magic you are experiencing, Jacky," she explained with a giggle. "I'm surprised at how quickly you decided to kill me. I thought you loved me, brother."
"Save it, you damned bitch! Master Jubei already told me everything! (Before the start of the story) As much as it pains me to say it, I'd rather see Saya dead than being possessed by you, Izanami!"
"Well, you might as well save your strength, for your blade will do nothing to me. I came here to offer you a place at my side and would offer you compensation in return, but as you have attacked me without thinking twice, I have come to the conclusion that you would never accept my offer. So, I suppose the best I can do for you is give you a quick death." Jacky could see Phantom getting ready to end his life, but what happened next was a blur. One moment, Phantom was ready to blow his head off, the next, Phantom was knocked to the floor.
"That's about as far as you go," he heard. The voice was gruff and familiar. He could only recognize it as the voice of Jubei. He was saved.
"Oh my, if it isn't the strongest creature on earth." Izanami chuckled as if she had said something funny. "Well, I suppose your death will have to come later on, so I shall take my leave." The moment that Izanami and Phantom left, Jacky could move again. He moved his body around and dismissed Drakos. He turned to find Jin doing the same. Perhaps he was put in the same position as Jacky? The shock was that along with Izanami and Phantom, Tsubaki was gone as well. "Damn it! Carl, get Litchi!" Carl nodded and leaped off his gurney and left the room, followed quickly by Nirvana. When he came back, he told them that Litchi had disappeared as well.
"Damn it, I couldn't reach that bitch!" Jacky was furious with himself. Jubei leaped up and gave him a hard smack in the head. "Don't be blamin' yerself, kid. It's not yer fault, a'right? Anyways, ya can't be worryin' about Izanami right now. After ya made a scene with Tsubaki earlier, Ragna left. He's probably at Ronin-gai right about now, so you should probably go and fetch him." Jacky nodded and ran out of the clinic, heading towards Ronin-gai, just as Jubei suggested.

After all this time and the chapter I finally upload is a shorty. Well, I am terribly sorry about that, but I've been busy these past few months, not to mention my laptop's charger cord broke and had to be replaced, so I couldn't use the computer for a while. Anyways, we'll be seing quite a bit of Bang Shishigami as you may have guessed.
