Chapter 5

Jack wandered through the pole wanting so bad to just race out on a gust of wind and search for the foolish spirit, but had to trust the words of North, and believe that Sandy and Aster would find her. Just the thoughts of what Pitch was doing to her was enough to make his blood boil which was not something good for the pale, spirit. One of the elves grabbed ahold of Jack's pants leg and vegan fiercely tugging on it trying to get the guardians attention.

Jack didn't seem to notice as he took another step, sending the elf flying to the wall, left unnoticed by Jack who had turned a corner, not wanting to stop. For when the spirit stopped, he knew that his thoughts would go fully to April, causing him to worry more, and in the end he would be rash and go against North's orders and race to Pitch's lair in sear his of his friend.

At this point he had made full circle and entered once again into the workshop, dodging Yetis as they worked and stepping over the elves as they ran and went about doing what ever it was that the elves did.

North took notice of the pale teen as he expertly stepped over and maneuvered around yetis and elves as he continued his walk through the workshop and made his way to one of the many hallways that led to a different area of the workshop for around the sixth time that day. At this point North couldn't help but worry for the boy. This was becoming serious and he feared that if neither Sandy or Bunny returned with the girl, then the while workshop was at risk of becoming the center of one of Jack's storms. A storm that, judging by Jack's mood, would send the entire workshop to its own personal ice age.

North decided that it would be in his best interest to stop working and confront the boy before the storm did occur. As north was making his way to Jack a yeti stepped in his path and when it was clear once again, Jack was nowhere to be seen in the workshop and there was no telling which hallway he had went down, so North could only go back to his work and wait for the boy to come back through the workshop.

Jack turned brown another hallway making sure to avoid the one leading to April's room and again as he walked an elf began tugging at his pants leg only this time it was joined by more until the Guardian was surrounded by the pointed hat munchkins. Jack stared down at the elves not knowing the cause of this bizarre behavior.

One of the stepped away from the group and was soon followed by the rest, the last one to leave turned back to Jack and made a gesture that Jack should follow. As Jack ran behind the waddling forms of the elves he tried to think of a time when the elves had displayed such understanding. But came up with nothing. He followed the elves around a turn and noticed that the stopped before on of the large windows, all of them gesturing for him to look outside.

Still greatly confused he did as the elves directed and gazed through the frosted glass. In the distance he could see a lone figure among the snow, from where he stood he could tell that it wasn't Bunny or Sandy, but then who else could it be this far out into the cold.

Not wanting to waste time Jack quickly opened the window and jumped to the wind that came. He rode it to where the figure lay in the snow and floated just above them. Now closer he was able to recognize the hair and clothes.

Dropping down from the wind he landed softly on the ground next to the figure and fell to his knees he pulled the person's head into his lap and looked down into their closed eyes.

"April?" Jack quietly asked into the frigid air to a person who wasn't aware. He stood and lifted the freezing girl into his arms much like when the first met. Only this time there was no yelp of surprise as he lifted her. The wind sensing his urgency lifted him and his unconscious friend and carried the two the short distance back to the workshop.

He re-entered the workshop from the window he had exited from. Once he was inside he pushed his back to the glass closing the window once again and locking the cold outside. He looked again to the form of his friend who he held in his arms.

She almost appeared like she was sleeping but her cold skin, even compared to his, told the young Guardian otherwise. The boy, making a quick decision, runs to April's room first and places the unconscious girl onto her bed, pulls the covers over her still form, than runs out as he goes to get North.

In the busy workshop he spots North on the far end speaking with bunny and gets close enough to hear as Bunny ends the conversation.

"Aye, mate Sandy and I will keep looking. "

Just as bunny turned to leave he spotted Jack running g towards then and stopped, taking notice of the look on the young guardians face. Once Jack stops in front of the two he bends over trying to catch his breath, hands on his knees. North places his large hands gently atop Jack's shoulders.

"Ah Jack, just who I-" North got no further in what he wanted to say as Jack brushed the large man's hands off of his shoulders and looked the guardian in the eye.

"North. I found her."Jack said as he turned and raced back to the room where his unconscious friend lay under the covers in her bed. After exchanging looks North and Aster followed quickly behind, following the the Guardian of fun into the room that his friend had been given before she disappeared, North saw that it was in fact April as the Aster met the spirit for the first time. Even though she was unconscious.

Jack slowly went up to the bed with the two other spirits behind him. Once at the bed North placed the back of his hand gently to the girls forehead feeling the chill coming off of it even before his hand touched the skin. If anything it felt as though the girls skin was colder then the winter spirit himself.

"Is she gonna be alright?" Jack asked as he cast a worried glance down to his friend. North look at the boy then adverted his gaze, truthfully he wasn't sure if she would make it.

"With enough rest, and if she stays warm, she has a chance at making it." North said. Jack looked to the ground not able to look North in the eye. Jack slowly walked out of the room knowing fully well what happens to the temperature when his emotions get involved.

North and Aster watched him go not really sure what to say, but they knew why Jack left and could tell just how much he cared for the girl. With one last Glace at the unconscious spirit they left as well after North had draped another blanket over her frozen form.

A few minutes past when Jack returned to check for signs of change in his friends condition, other then the extra blanket and her complexion being not as pale there was no noticeable change. He turned to leave the room happy for the slight change and was not aware of the figure slowly and silently sitting up in the bed behind him.

And by the time he heard the shuffling of fabric and turned, it was already to late. The blank expression on his friends face was the last thing he saw before he fell to the ground, falling quickly into nightmares.

A.N. So is that enough of a cliff hanger? Truly I am doing this to annoy my twin because she told me herself that she hates cliff hangers. So why not? And yes this is to annoy others as well. I just hope it came out okay and wasn't to fast paced and or worded weird, if it was someone please tell me. Other then that nothing really to report so.

Until Next Time Peace, Love and, Virtual Hugs ^.^
