DAY ONE ; 10:53 A.M.
Leon Kuwata knew that he needed to get out of there. He knew that in a few minutes, it was going to be a danger zone, and… well, while he wasn't exactly sure of what would happen if he were to stay in a danger zone…
He had an idea it wouldn't be pretty.
But for some reason, he couldn't move. He couldn't move from his spot next to Souda's body with his pistol in his hand. He had the bags transferred into one, too, they were next to him, he was ready to go… but he couldn't. He just kept looking at Souda's body, eyes frozen wide open and gaping hole in his neck. Kiyotaka Ishimaru had done that.
With a sword.
Souda's neck and shirt was stained with blood. The mud had begun to rub off of his hair, and now it looked more like it just needed a good washing than camouflage. Kuwata had an idea that his looked very near the same.
He glanced at his watch. Two minutes now. He stood up and slung the bag over his shoulder. He backed away. Slowly. Too slowly.
One minute. The collar around his neck started to beep.
Leon Kuwata started to get a very, very good idea of what happened when he was in a danger zone.
He turned on his heel and sprinted, flying across the ground and scaling a small hill. The collar had ceased beeping, and he took a sigh of relief as he sat down hard on the hill. He breathed hard, hands shaking, and he wondered if Souda's collar had exploded. It wasn't like there was much left of the neck to destroy.
He shuddered and took inventory. Most of their rations. A few tools that had been in Souda's bag. A baseball bat from his bag.
Combined with the pistol, Ishimaru hadn't taken much.
Leon Kuwata stood up and checked his map. Maybe he'd head for the residential area. That could be interesting. They weren't supposed to be danger zones, though he guessed that could change by the next update… an hour until that, now.
He checked his compass and map, pointed himself in the right direction, and started walking.
