title: raining again

summary: I don't mind a little rain sometimes.
The rain fell in a light drizzle, a soft pitter-patter tapping outside her window. The sky was gray, hazy in the early morning with a thin mist rolling in, dispersing slowly in the cool air.
Reaching her arm out, Juvia dragged her fingers along the glass, following the trickle of raindrops sliding down the window. She watched as a silent observer, so accustomed to these lonely mornings of sleeping with the rain only to awaken with it too. It was always damp, always cold. No one wanted to stay around the gloomy rain, nor the gloomy rain woman.
The loneliness stung her, gnawed at the walls of her fragile heart.
But this rain… it was different.
There was a rustle in her bed sheets before a pair of strong arms wrapped around her waist, dragging her backwards. She felt a face press into her back, coaxing a gentle smile on her lips as it nuzzled against her t-shirt.
Glancing over her shoulder, her heart fluttered at the sight of Gray's sleeping face, his body shifting slightly as he shuffled closer to her warmth.
"Good morning, Gray-sama," she whispered, and he grunted in response, pulling her closer to him. She passed a hand through his hair, brushing her fingers tenderly through the dark locks. "Did the rain wake you?"
"Five more minutes," he mumbled, his words muffled against the cloth of her t-shirt—his t-shirt.
She swept his bangs from his eyes, her lips already forming an apology despite the rain deriving from natural causes. "Sorry. Juvia did not mean to disturb you."
She felt him shake his head against her, and she raised an eyebrow as her eyes returned to his face.
"S'not… disturbing," he drawled, his arms tightening around her waist before he pulled her down to his chest. She squeaked at the sudden turn, pressing a palm against his steady heartbeat while he buried his face in her hair.
"Gray-sama…?"
"S'nice," he mumbled quietly, drawing a deep breath before exhaling slowly. "The rain. Peaceful."
Her eyes widened, her heart skipping a beat as his breathing grew even once more. Her face softened before her lips curved in a warm smile, pressing a soft kiss to his cheek while he hummed against her.
Wrapping her arms around his neck, she snuggled into his embrace, resting her cheek against his chest. His body was warm, and she felt safe in his arms. Secure. Peaceful.
She smiled again, curling her form against his. The rainfall drummed against the windowpane, but instead of shivering from the biting cold, she shivered from his body heat, lulling her back to serene slumber.
