Episode 7: Shadow Mario Checks In

Appearing on Sirena Beach once more in the night, the gang of five very interesting characters approached Hotel Delfino where the hotel manager waited for them. Everyone feared that the hotel manager had something else for them to do. Did it have something to do with more Boos? Was King Boo back? What was wrong this time? Unfortunately, they learned that the hotel had been evacuated because of mysterious incidents that have been taking place inside of the building. Also, the hotel manager mentioned something about an exact copy of Mario running around in there and causing havoc.

"The imposter's in there!" Sonic caterwauled, ready to land a beat down on the doppelganger.

"That guy is always up to no good!" yawped Silver.

"Let's try to get rid of him once and for all, or at least capture him and demand answers from him," said Pauline with a nod of her head, her eyes flashing with determination.

Blaze totally agreed with the other female. "Let's do this."

So the quintet entered Hotel Delfino. Once inside, they immediately saw Shadow Mario standing around waiting for them. He held on tightly to his Magic Paintbrush and gave them a sinister glare.

"GET'EM!" howled Sonic.

Nobody had to be told twice!

They all dashed towards the duplicate, throwing every single attack that they could conjure up. Shadow Mario was just too good for them though. He impressed them with is acrobatic skills and then started running up the stairs to the second level, entering a room.

"Dang! We have to split up!" said Silver, peering around the area for the fiend. "I didn't see which room he went into! It's all so confusing."

"Then let's split like a banana split!" Mario declared, turning around and entering one of the rooms at random.

Everyone else scrambled like scrambled eggs!

Mario headed into the first room he saw, Sonic following from close behind. Once inside the room, they instantly found Shadow Mario and Shadow Mario was currently just standing there as if he was waiting for them.

"Get that faker!" yowled Sonic as he darted forward. Shadow Mario jumped into the air at the last minute and Sonic went crashing into a bed, waking up a sleeping Pianta woman who screamed when she found a blue hedgehog in the bed with her.

"AH! HAROLD! HAROLD!" she screeched.

Suddenly, Harold, a green Pianta, emerged from a bathroom, finding the blue hedgehog in the bed with his wife. "WHAT IN THE NAME OF THE SHINE SPRITES IS GOING ON!?" he boomed in anger.

Sonic chortled nervously. "It's…not what it looks like!" he exclaimed.

"YAAAAAARRGGGGHHH!" the Pianta bounded towards the bed like a mad bull ready to do a rampage.

Not wanting to stick around and find out what happens next, Mario left the room and entered another one, searching around for Shadow Mario. He was now in a room that was inhabited by Nokis. They screamed when they saw Shadow Mario barge into their room and they screamed even louder when they saw a red plumber come in as well.

"Get the heck out of our room, you creeps!" the female Noki screeched.

"Yeah, get out!" howled the male Noki.

Mario ignored them and hopped towards Shadow Mario who was now standing on the bed in the room, grinning sinisterly in the Mario's direction. "I'm sick and tired of you!" shouted Mario as he used FLUDD to spray Bowser's kid.

"You think you can defeat me?!" Shadow Mario hissed like a rattlesnake about to strike. He flipped backwards and avoided the water, cackling like a Boo. "You're WEAK, Mario!" the heinous imposter swung his Magic Paintbrush at the plumber hard, attempting to knock him silly.

Gasping, Mario ducked and then landed a serious blow to his opponent's stomach. From the hit, Shadow Mario gasped for air and was now in pain. His hands flew to his stomach and he gagged, agonized.

Mario thought that that was a little too harsh and started spraying Shadow Mario again with FLUDD. Shadow Mario got squirted repeatedly in the face with the water and howled and shrieked about it too. When Mario finished, Shadow Mario threw a tantrum like all the other times and dispersed, leaving behind a Shine Sprite.

"Hey, Mario!" Silver breathlessly exclaimed as he entered the room, seeing the Shine Sprite floating above the bed and with Mario standing in front of it. "You got the Shine Sprite! Does this mean you caught the imposter?"

Turning around to look at the hedgehog from the future, Mario gave a short nod. However, he noticed that Silver's fur was sticking up in odd angles and he looked disoriented and fatigued. Mario was about to ask if he was alright, but Blaze, Pauline, and Sonic came stumbling into the room. Pauline looked totally freaked out and Blaze appeared to be stoic and indifferent to the situation. Sonic, unfortunately, looked like he had been in a hurricane and survived.

"What happened to you, Sonic?" Mario wanted to know, eyebrows shooting upwards. "Are you okay?"

Sonic gave him a look. "No. No, I'm not. Getting beat repeatedly with a mop does NOT make me okay! I DON'T FEEL OKAY!" the blue hedgehog threw up his hands, fed up.

"Geez Louise…"

Silver gave Mario a shaky smile. "Well, I was thrown around by a Pianta because I barged into his room without his consent. I am still in pain…" he lifted an arm and winced. "Ouch…"

"Pauline and I ran into some Boos that could transfigure into the imposter," Blaze informed the red-capped hero with her arms folded. "They fooled us."

"We were bamboozled!" Pauline yawped loudly, eyes wide with fright. "We were hoodwinked! Those Boos were so hideous and they took the shape of…of Bowser's son! I was so freaked out that I couldn't even help Blaze fight them off!"

Blaze nodded. "Right."

"Seems like things got a little out of hand…" trailed FLUDD as he peered at all of the characters.

"Tell me about it!" caterwauled Sonic.

Sighing, Mario shook his head and grabbed the Shine Sprite, holding it up for all to see. The Nokis, who were still in the room, were now calling the police on their phone, informing them that strangers invaded their room.

Not noticing the Nokis' actions, Silver released a tired chuckle and rubbed the back of his head. "Looks like Shadow Mario wanted to check in!" he tried to joke.

Nobody laughed.
