Super Mario Sunshine Adventure
Episode 8: Red Coins in the Hotel
Removing his gloved hands from the cold and rusty bars, the blue hedgehog took a step back and his features morphed into a horrid look of contempt and disbelief. "I seriously can't believe I got locked up again! This really doesn't make any sense whatsoever! Gosh!" Sonic the Hedgehog complained, wanting to be free from his prison.
After the events that took place in the previous chapter, the Nokis who had called the police followed through with it. The police had come and had arrested everyone as if they had committed some kind of rueful act. Anyway, they were all transported back to Delfino Plaza where they were locked up instantly until they were allowed to leave.
"Well…we did barge into their room without their consent," Silver pointed out in a tired tone, gazing at the green eyed hedgehog. "But I agree that we didn't deserve to get locked up because of it! I mean, we were in the middle of a serious chase and that was chasing that doppelganger!"
Sonic nodded his head rapidly, turning around to face his four comrades. "Yeah!" he pounded a fist into his open palm, a frown coloring his face. "We can't be locked in here! We've got things to do, places to be!"
"Don't worry," Mario piped up as he sat cross-legged on the ground. "I'm pretty sure that the hotel manager will get things cleared up for us and stuff. We'll be out of here in no time. No worries."
Pauline brought her attention to the red plumber. "Oh, that's right. The hotel manager seems to be very fond of you, Mario," she commented with a thoughtful expression gracing her features. "On second thought, I think he's pretty fond of all of us!"
"Why wouldn't he be?" retorted Blaze as she leaned against the wall of their cell, arms folded. She held a look of pure boredom. "I mean, we've solved the problems he had in his hotel. We got rid of the Boos, fought King Boo, etc."
"That is so true!" chattered Silver.
"Right," Mario nodded his head.
Sonic grinned and started running in place, completely impatient and determined to get out. "Well then, that guy better hurry up because I don't think I can stay in here for much longer, guys!"
"That's Sonic for you," Silver said with a smile. "Can't stay in one place for too long."
"Exactly," remarked Blaze.
Mario let a grin spread across his face. "He'll always be the same hedgehog."
"I haven't known Sonic for that long, but I know that that's true and all, besides him being the Blooper-surfing legend," talked Pauline as she gave everyone a kind smile.
"I agree," FLUDD yawped.
Sonic whirled around to face all of them. "Uh, you guys do know that I'm standing right here and that I can hear every single thing that you're saying, right?" he informed them flatly, giving them all a look.
Everyone sweat-dropped.
Anyway, like Mario told them, the hotel manager managed to get them out of prison and back to Sirena Beach. Once there, the hotel manager removed himself from their group and hurried on back to Hotel Delfino. The quintet peered around the beach to see if anything else was amiss.
"Doesn't look like anything's wrong here," Sonic pointed out as he zipped over to some crates. He Ground Pounded into the crates and retrieved a few coins along with a 1-Up Mushroom. He pocketed that with a chuckle. "Sweet."
Sauntering towards Hotel Delfino, Pauline released a sigh of wonder. "Eh, whatever. Let's go see if there's something up inside of the hotel," she suggested in a bored tone of voice. She didn't sound interested in the slightest.
Obeying, the other four followed her towards Hotel Delfino and the hotel manager was there waiting for them like all the other times. When he saw them, his face brightened and he waved while giving a cheerful laugh. "Mario…and friends! Please, do come in."
Once they were in, the hotel manager followed and shut the doors behind him, grinning widely. The group of five very interesting characters just looked at him. "Now, Mario and friends, please! Enjoy yourself, will you?"
"Oh! Does that mean we should get a room and check in and all that stuff?" Silver questioned in an excited tone of voice, eyes becoming bigger with each word he spat out.
Blaze sighed. "No, Silver."
"Darn…"
"Hey, I found this blue piece of paper!" Mario exclaimed while holding up a blue piece of paper that looked familiar. He was standing next to a large red button on the ground. "It says: Collect 8 Red Coins before the timer runs out! GOOD LUCK!"
Sonic jumped over, a wild look in his eyes. "Oh! It's just like when I had gone Blooper-surfing to collect all of those Red Coins on the water!" he announced.
"Yeah!" Pauline totally agreed with the blue speedster.
"We've got five minutes though," Silver pointed out, eyeing the blue paper in the plumber's hands. "How are we possibly going to find all eight Red Coins before time runs out? That seems impossible!"
Sonic released an unrestrained burst of laughter at the hedgehog from the future. "Puh-lease, it's impossible for you, but not for me! I'm the fastest thing alive, remember? I'll get this done in no time!" he boasted, truly confident in his abilities.
"Cocky, aren't we?" Mario narrowed his eyes at him.
"Heh," Sonic smirked.
"Still, that doesn't mean you know where each and every Red Coin will be," Blaze reminded him, peering at the blue hedgehog. "You'd still have to look around for them, you know."
Silver nodded from beside her. "That's right, Sonic!"
"I think we should all look for them together," Pauline mentioned, raising her hand in the air to gain everyone's attention. "I think things would go much better that way instead of having Sonic do it all by himself!"
Sonic sighed loudly. "Fine, fine! Let's do this together! Teamwork is awesome!"
Everyone nodded and Mario stepped on top of the large red button, instantly Ground Pounding it and starting the timer. The timer started counting down from five minutes. All the Red Coins that they had to seek out appeared all over the hotel and one of them materialized right in front of them, which Sonic snagged immediately.
Blaze, who was faster than everyone else except for Sonic, darted forward and entered the women's restroom, finding a Red Coin in there while being given a weird look by an orange Pianta woman. The purple feline ignored the rude look and exited the restroom to see Silver Teleport Dashing into the men's restroom to see if there was a Red Coin in there.
Meanwhile, Sonic was zooming all around the hotel and searching for Red Coins. So far, he had found two, but he couldn't seem to find the others. Mario and Pauline were both searching the rooms and had both found a Red Coin each. So, altogether, everyone had five Red Coins.
Jumping through the Boo painting, Silver found himself in one of the rooms he had been in before. When he had checked the men's restroom, he didn't find any Red Coins in there, so he decided to go look through the rooms instead. He managed to find one, alright!
"Perfect!" Silver cheered, grabbing the Red Coin and ignoring the shouts of fear that the Noki couple in the room were spitting out.
Eventually, the heroes found all of the Red Coins before the timer ran out and they all met back up in the hotel's lobby where they were greeted with a glamorous Shine Sprite.
Blaze grabbed the Shine Sprite this time and she held it up with a small smile painting her facial features. She showed everyone and they all nodded in approval, happy that they had obtained another Shine Sprite! Now they had 55 Shine Sprites! That's a lot, right? Right!
"That wasn't so hard!" yipped Pauline.
"That was TIGHT!" Sonic struck a pose while wearing a wide grin.
"Not bad, all in all," said Silver with a smile.
"We did it!" Mario cheered, throwing up a fist into the air in perfect triumph.
Blaze only nodded in agreement with her four comrades, elated.
