Author's Note: This is the last chapter that I had written a while back. Updates will be even slower now because I have to write the rest of the chapters. This story is almost done though; no worries. I've got 42 chapters done already, almost there to reaching 58, which is my goal.
Super Mario Sunshine Adventure
Episode 1: Uncork the Waterfall
Arriving back in Delfino Plaza, everyone instantly piled up on top of each other after being thrown out of the red Pipe that stuck out of the top of the roof of the building. After detangling themselves from each other, they all took a step back and realized that they had gotten all of the Shine Sprites from Sirena Beach. It made them feel good inside to know such a thing.
"Well, I guess we won't be going back to Sirena Beach any time soon," commented Sonic the Hedgehog as he gazed at the red Pipe. "That place was pretty cool though. I am definitely visiting again! Still, nothing ever beats Ricco Harbor!"
Mario put his attention on the blue hedgehog. "Why? There was nothing fascinating about Ricco Harbor!" exclaimed the red-capped hero as he put his hands in the air, causing FLUDD to chuckle at the action.
"Well, that's where I became the Blooper-surfing legend! Duh!" Sonic caterwauled loudly. He said it as if it was the most obvious thing in the entire universe. "That place will always be awesome to me! When this is all over, I'm going back there to do some more Blooper-surfing!"
Mario face-palmed.
Pauline giggled at the two males and then floated off of the roof, gently landing on the ground. "I think we should go see Toadsworth, the Toads, and the babies. We have to let them know how we've been doing so far and how much progress we've made," she suggested.
"I agree!" Silver yapped, levitating down to the ground with his powers. "I want to see Baby Peach and Baby Daisy again! I miss them!"
"It's settled then," remarked Blaze. "Let's go on ahead and see them."
That's just what they did.
The group of five searched around Delfino Plaza and eventually found Toadsworth, the Toads, Baby Daisy, and Baby Peach all lounging on the sand and gazing out into the ocean. Toadsworth was still worried about Princess Peach and Amy Rose while the Toads were just soaking up what little the sun had to offer in the sky. The sunlight wasn't as strong because of the Shine Sprites not being there anymore.
"It's good to see that you are all safe and sound, huff I say," Toadsworth talked after everyone showed themselves to them. "Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the princess and Miss Rose."
"I know," sighed Mario.
"We'll get them back!" Silver declared as he played around with the babies.
"Yeah! Show some optimism, you guys!" exclaimed Pauline as she sipped on a lemonade.
Everyone totally agreed with her.
Well, anyway, after spending some time with everyone, it was time for the heroes to make their departure and continue their adventure. They had no idea of where to go next, so Silver took out a brochure that he had been carrying the entire time and began reading about the locations they haven't visited yet, one of them being Noki Bay.
"Noki Bay is located at the north behind the island's "dorsal fin". The Nokis live there in the platforms floating in the bay," Silver was saying as they trekked around Delfino Plaza once again. "What a nice place!"
Pauline suddenly snatched the brochure from Silver, examining it with a look of contemplation adorning her facial features. After a moment, her face lit up and she smiled. "Here's a better description of Noki Bay! Want to hear it, you guys?" she wanted to know.
"Heck yeah!" answered Sonic.
"Sure, why not?" replied Mario.
"Go for it," responded Blaze.
Silver pouted. "What was wrong with my description of it, huh?"
He went unheard.
"Steep cliffs and sea beds are what the Nokis call home," Pauline started while her smile got even bigger. "The huge waterfall and three soaring towers resonate with mystic history."
"Now that's what I call a fabulous description!" Mario babbled with a huge grin, nodding his head in approval. "Makes me really want to visit Noki Bay!"
Sonic bobbed his head in a nod. "I so agree with you, Mario! We should, like, totally go to Noki Bay next! I bet there're a bunch of Shine Sprites there!"
"Plus, a lot of messes to clean up," said Blaze.
"Now I'm really eager to go to Noki Bay," Pauline threw in with a large smile painting her face.
"I have to say that I am too," remarked FLUDD.
Silver was still pouting. "I don't see what was wrong with my description on Noki Bay!" he rambled as they all started marking their way towards a strange light that they had yet to investigate and stuff.
The hedgehog went unheard again.
"Why isn't anybody listening to me!"
Still, nobody gave him an answer.
Silver sighed loudly and followed his friends toward the strange light. They found themselves in front of a sculpture of a dolphin that was a part of some small fountain. There was the painting of a big Shine Sprite on the ground where the light was beaming out of and two Piantas were standing there just gazing up at the sky.
"What a majestic light…" breathed Pauline as she allowed her fingers to brush the light, her fingers going right through. It looked so magical!
"Sweet," murmured Sonic while a frown occupied his features. "How come we've never noticed this before? I have a feeling that this light is gonna help us get to Noki Bay!"
Mario sent him a look. "What kind of feeling is that?"
"I don't know!" Sonic retorted with a roll of his emerald green eyes. "It's just what the author put into the script for me to say! Duh!"
Mario blinked, discombobulated.
"Hey, guys, I feel some kind of strange energy emanating from this strange light here," Blaze announced as she stood underneath the brilliant light. "It's very powerful."
Silver bounced up and down from beside her. "Maybe it's gonna bring us to Noki Bay like Sonic said!" he exclaimed in excitement.
"It sure is dark!" said one of the Piantas, a brown one. He had a deep voice and was holding a massive hand above his eyes to see up into the sky. "Is this the daytime? Are all cities dark?"
"Now, where's that big ol' Shine Sprite?" the other Pianta, a woman, asked. "The guidebook says it's like the shining eye of Isle Delfino!"
Mario huffed. "Too bad that fiend caused all of the Shine Sprites to disperse!"
"Yeah!" added Sonic, pounding a fist into his open palm like he did a few times before. "That is just way past uncool!"
Mario nodded.
Suddenly, Silver, who was standing beside Blaze underneath the harmonious light, tilted his head back and gazed up at the sun. Right after that, the poor hedgehog vanished into thin air in the light.
"S-Silver…?!" Blaze was completely shocked as she looked around for her best friend. "Silver?! Where'd you go?! Silver! SILVER!"
"What happened to Sil?" questioned Sonic as he jogged over, standing in the light with the purple cat. "Where'd he go? He was just here a few seconds ago!"
Pauline shakily walked over, worried about the other hedgehog that had disappeared. "I don't know what happened!" she admitted. "I was just watching him when he looked up towards the sun and then…he just VANISHED!"
"Why don't you all look up at the sun too?" FLUDD suggested calmly, gazing at all of his friends. "Maybe, if you repeat the same actions, you'll end up like him."
Mario gaped. "But do we WANT to end up like him?!"
"Just a suggestion…"
Everyone exchanged glances before simultaneously peering up at the sun while standing in the weird and unfathomable light. Instantly their visions went white. When they opened their eyes, they were standing on one of the many platforms that made up Noki Bay. There was water everywhere and the entire place looked just like how Pauline described it from the brochure! Unfortunately, the clear blue water looked like a nasty purplish color. It definitely appeared to be poison.
"Whoa…" Sonic breathed as he took in all of what Noki Bay had to offer. He was especially checking out the mysterious, old ruins that decorated the place. "This is so awesome."
"I've never seen a place like this before!" caterwauled Pauline as she looked around at everything. She thought it was very beautiful and majestic.
Blaze frowned. "Yes. It's a very impressive location, but what's up with the water?"
Hearing what the feline said, the red-capped plumber took a look at what was supposed to be 'crystal clear water'. He found a purplish color in it, which meant that the water was clearly polluted. "Yeah, she's right," commented Mario with a frown on his facial features. Did the imposter have something to do with this mess?
"Aside from the polluted water," Silver's voice pierced their ears as he made his presence known by coming up from behind them. "Noki Bay is one of the most beautiful locations on the island."
"Silver!" Blaze exclaimed, her tone holding elation and relief. She was glad that he was okay. The cat placed a gloved hand onto the hedgehog's shoulder and gave him a small smile. "You're okay, right?"
Silver returned her smile. "I'm great, Blaze!"
"Good."
Sonic snickered at the pair. "Lovebirds."
As if on cue, the hedgehog's and cat's faces turned a reddish color and they both looked embarrassed.
"Well, if you're done teasing everyone like you always do, Sonic," Mario started talking as he turned to look at an old Noki that looked like he had lived for several decades. "I'm going to have a word with this Noki and find out what the problem is around here!"
Sonic threw up his hands, totally caught off guard by Mario's words. "Whoa! Geez Louise!" he yapped noisily. Sure, he was just messing around, but he was doing it that time to get his mind off of all of the water surrounding them. It was truly horrifying being surrounded by so much water!
"Ahhh, welcome!" drawled out the Noki Elder. "Master Mario, I presume?"
Everyone gave the plumber a look.
"Mario, you know this old dude?"
"Yeah, when did you two meet?"
"You never told us you were best pals with an old guy, Mario! Should've told us!"
"How do you two know each other?"
Mario resisted the urge to introduce his face to his palm and ignored his friends' queries. Instead, he focused on the old man before him. "Yeah. I'm Mario."
"We have heard much about you!" talked the Noki Elder with a smile spreading across his face. "Yes, and all of it good!"
Sonic whistled. "Wow. I thought everyone knew Mario as the guy who destroyed Isle Delfino. I mean, he WAS arrested and FORCED to clean the ENTIRE island!" he chattered.
"Maybe you should be quiet, Sonic…" trailed Pauline.
Sonic sheepishly chortled.
"As for me, I am just an old man who loves nothing but fishing," the Noki Elder confessed pleasantly. "But lately, I have had a terrible problem…Please look up there," the man gestured with his fishing rod upward.
Obeying, the five characters looked to their sides and up. They saw a horrible sight. There was a Monty Mole in a canon and it was shooting out goopy balls all over the place, making a mess everywhere! Pink and yellowish goop was now decorating the side of the ruins that they were beside. It was just one big, sticky mess!
…a mess that they had to clean up!
"I don't know who did it, but someone corked our waterfall!" the Noki Elder spat, clearly upset by this fact. "This, no doubt, is why our lovely bay has become polluted!"
"Must be the work of Shadow Mario!" Silver declared, folding his arms across his chest like Shadow the Hedgehog had done several times. "It makes perfect since!"
Blaze nodded from next to him, totally agreeing with the hedgehog from the future. "I agree. Who else would be capable of such a heinous act?"
"Bowser's kid did this?" questioned Sonic, unconvinced. "I am having a hard time believing that it was him who caused the mess this time. Besides, Bowser's kid didn't cause the mess last time back on Sirena Beach. It was all due to that Phantamanta thingamajig thing!"
Pauline whirled around to glare at the blue hedgehog. "Yes, but what made it go whacko like that, hmmm?" she shot back, trying to get her point across.
"…Touché."
"And I can't even fish!" the Noki Elder went on, almost throwing a terrible tantrum. "And so, I ask for your help. Yank that cork! Please fulfill this old man's wish…COUGH! HACKPTH! HACKPTH!" The old fool seemed to be having some sort of seizure now.
Sonic gave him a weird look. "Uh…are you okay?"
"HACKPTH!"
"It looks like he's dying or something…" trailed Silver with a huge amount of uncertainty.
Mario moved forward and tapped the old guy on the shoulder. "We'll do it," he said. "We'll help you out. We'll solve this problem so you can fish again!"
"What's that? You'll do it?!" the old Noki exclaimed in tone filled with elation. "Oh, thank you! Thank you so much!" This guy was so happy!
Pauline smiled at the male. "You're welcome. We'll do everything in our power to help you out! That's what we're here for, anyway."
"I knew I could count on you. Just beware that guy on the cork!" Then he was through talking with them. He just stood there like a statue with a smile stuck on his facial features.
"Okay," drawled out Sonic slowly, staring at the old man with his emerald green eyes. "That's creepy."
Silver was nodding in agreement from beside him. "Creepy, indeed!"
"Uh, yeah," commented Mario. "Let's just get this over with so we can go eat something. I'm starving!
Everyone had no complaints with that!
However, Mario had something to do real-quick. The red-capped plumber whirled around and then did a magnificent backflip off of the platform that they were all standing on. His comrades gasped in horror and surprise as Mario started plummeting down into the poisonous water below. Then, suddenly, his hands flew to the triggers of FLUDD and he hovered over safely to a wooden boat, landing in it easily.
"Mario!" shouted Pauline, hand over her heart. "Are you absolutely insane?!"
"Nope!" Mario answered, popping the 'P'. "I just needed to get this Blue Coin over here!" After saying that, the red hero snagged the Blue Coin out of the air in front of him, grinning happily.
Sonic folded his arms. "That was real smooth, Mario!" There was sarcasm dripping from his voice.
"You could've died!" yapped Silver.
"You're being dramatic again, Silver…" trailed Blaze, shaking her head at him.
Silver chortled.
Anyway, Mario used FLUDD to get him back to the others easily. Once that was over with, the quintet jumped from white platform to white platform before reaching the large cliffs up above that jutted out of the side of the mountain next to them. Yup, they were getting ready to solve the problem that they had been presented with.
"Ugh," Sonic complained as they went along. "There is so much water here!"
"I thought the Blooper-surfing legend loved water!" Pauline stated, throwing up her hands. "You claim that you are, yet you gaze upon water in disdain!"
Sonic rolled his eyes at her. "You know nothing!"
Pauline bristled at his words, but kept her mouth shut and crossing her arms instead, huffing loudly. Sonic smirked in pure victory, resisting the urge to dance around. Mario, Silver, and Blaze all simultaneously shook their heads at their two friends, wondering what was going through their minds.
So, anyway, the five heroes all continued their journey upwards, cleaning up all of the goopy mess on the way. Occasionally they had to spray and push wall plaques that mysteriously made ledges grow out of the structure that they were climbing so they could reach higher places. It didn't take long to reach their destination.
Once there, they could see a Monty Mole thing creature sitting in a red canon, like the one from Pinna Park. It was shooting out goopy balls of ugliness and making everything messy. Silver shot forward and was about to use his abilities to strike the mole creature, but he slipped in a pile of pink goop, yelling as he did. The poor hedgehog fell face first into the stuff and the creature inside of the canon shot a large ball of pink goop at him, taking a piece of his Life.
"Well, this shouldn't be too hard," Sonic commented, shrugging. "Yo, Silver! You alright, pal?"
Silver wearily gave a thumbs-up while staying on the ground. Nope, he wasn't planning on getting up any time soon.
"Cool! Let's do this!" the blue hedgehog ran forward and jumped up, punching the mole thing in the face and causing it to squeal.
Mario moved ahead and used FLUDD to spray all of the goop on the ground. He then squirted water at a bomb the monster in the canon shot out and threw it at its face, blowing it up. Blaze and Pauline helped out until the thing was finally defeated.
Right after that, the canon and the mole blew up into smithereens and the humongous cork that the canon was sitting on combusted and water tore threw it, releasing the waterfall. Sonic whistled at this and Mario nodded while Blaze, Pauline, and Silver all cheered in triumph.
A Shine Sprite burst out of the waterfall and landed right into Mario's palms who held it up gloriously.
