DAY TWO ; 5:37 A.M.
Ibuki's mind was about ready to break in two.
Hajime slumped with a groan, and she dropped him. His head hit the floor with a bad sound, but she was hardly thinking about that now. Byakuya had trained his gun on the three of them, and at that moment, though she didn't want to admit it, though she didn't want to lose another friend after seeing her dear Imposter-chan strung up like a puppet, she knew he was a lost cause.
She turned and shoved Sonia toward the door. "Run, Sonia-chan!" she shrieked, shoving her forward and trying to get her out. Sonia recovered quickly and shot an arrow at Byakuya. It missed.
But Byakuya's shot aimed at Ibuki's back did not.
Ibuki Mioda crumpled forward, pain ripping her in two – or was it the bullet? (Nice idea for a song title, Ibuki, congratulations have a cookie) – her hands falling on Sonia's shoulders and giving her one last shove. Sonia, thankfully, kept running. She took one look back and she ran faster than anyone else had ever run, probably.
Ibuki couldn't move. She heard Hajime stir, she heard him push himself to his feet and look around, but she couldn't see it. She could barely feel anything anymore, but her hearing was as sharp as ever. She could hear Byakuya's footsteps echoing toward them. She could hear Hajime's labored breathing, and she could hear Hajime scooting himself over on his butt to be beside her.
"M-Mioda?" he asked. His voice was raw and pained.
"H-Hajime-chan!" Ibuki said. Hajime let out a choked sob.
"We're all going to die."
That was when Byakuya blew the top of his head off.
Hajime's blood and brains splattered Ibuki's body, splattered her back and her head and a little bit on her face, even. She tried to move, but she could only move her top half. She couldn't even feel the bottom half.
Then she felt the barrel of a gun press into the back of her head and she didn't have time for anything else before Byakuya Togami pulled the trigger.
