Forever Young

Hello everyone! Happy New Year! I hope everyone enjoyed their holidays! I know I did. Now I am going to be completely honest with you folks... I only wrote 2 chapters over the entire break. Sorry? I'm not even going to make excuses, I just wasn't motivated. Also I got myself into the show Once Upon a Time so that took over my life for a few days. Also I am now a Maze Runner and The 100 fan so if anyone wants to chat with me about those I'm more than happy. So I hope you enjoy this chapter my lovelies!

Chapter 20: Taking This One to the Grave

Cassidy's POV:

"Spencer," I breathed. He smiled and leaned down to hug me.

"Hey sis," he whispered. "How you feeling?"

"Ok," I said. "Just tired and my stomach really hurts."

"Well the sooner you get to St. Mungos the sooner the pain goes away," he said sitting on my bed. I rolled my eyes thinking of the fight Sirius and I just had.

"I'm gonna go back to the dorms now," Sirius said. "See you tomorrow Cass." I gave him a small smile then turned back to my brother.

"Please tell me you didn't tell Grace and Chris," I pleaded. His eyes wandered around and I groaned.

"Spencer!" I exclaimed. "I didn't want to worry them just yet."

"You have an inflamed appendix Cassidy," he said firmly. "Sooner or later it will burst and the pain is gonna be 10 times worse and then the poison from it will spread and kill you. They needed to know."

I groaned again. "Fine," I said. "But I hate you."

"They'll be here tomorrow and that's when you are getting transferred over to St. Mungos," he said. I nodded my head.

"Ok," I sighed. "Can you tell Lily or Marlene to pack a small bag for me?"

"Sure thing Sassy," he said using my old nickname. I smiled and slapped his arm lightly.

As promised the next day I was sent to St. Mungos and there I waited for the Healers to get my appendix out. It was a very complicated procedure that I really have no recollection of because they gave me some potion that made me not feel anything but I was technically awake. A strange world isn't it? I stayed in Mungos for three days before being sent back to Hogwarts were I stayed in the hospital wing for another three days.

"Madam Pomfrey I'm fine!" I whined on my second day back. "Can I please go back to my dorm? I need to start making up work this is my final year I have NEWT's in less than 10 months! I have to study!"

She only rolled her eyes at me and gave me more pain medicine and told me to sleep. I left the hospital late the next evening. Tomorrow would be Friday but I was given the day off to continue to rest and start making up work. I stayed in the same sweatpants and sweatshirt throughout the entire weekend. By the time Monday rolled around I was so happy to leave the dorms I got up at the crack of dawn to start getting ready.

I showered for the first time since I was admitted to the hospital wing. Madam Pomfrey had been using spells to freshen me up but it wasn't the same. I dried off and curled my hair neatly before placing it into a ponytail. I drew on eyeliner and brushed on mascara then changed into my uniform. I laced up my black converse and was out the door before 7am. I went down to the Great Hall to eat breakfast and continue on make-up work.

"Morning love," a voice said from next to me about an hour later. I didn't even have to look up to know it was Sirius.

"I'm kinda busy Sirius," I said continuing to move my quill across the paper. He snatched the paper out from under me and I was furious.

"Damn it Sirius," I shouted. "How is it you've already managed to piss me off and it's not even 9 o'clock in the morning?" He looked at me with bewilderment. I looked around and noticed most of the people in the Great Hall were as well. I took a deep breath and grabbed the paper from his hand and gathered up the rest of my things before heading out of the Hall.

"Cassidy wait," I heard Sirius yelling from behind me but I only kept walking. As I kept walking he kept yelling. "Cassidy you can't run away from me."

"It's a pretty big castle," I yelled back. "I can try my damn best." Finally he caught up to me and grabbed my arm. "Let me go." I said.

"No,"

"Sirius Black you let me go or I swear to Mer-"

"You swear what?" he snapped letting me go. "You'll hex me? Cassidy you can barely hurt a fly let alone me." he said a bit softer.

"Wanna bet?" I asked raising an eyebrow.

"What the hell has gotten in to you?" he asked reaching to brush a hair out of my face. I stepped back and he gave me a look.

"Look," I sighed. "I'm sorry. It's just… Well I… Uhhh!" I groaned. "Why do you have to be so hard to bloody talk to some times!?"

"Love what's the matter?" he asked grabbing my hand. I heard footsteps and I quickly let go of his hand and turned to keep walking.

"I think we should take a break." I said quietly so no one but him could hear.

"What?" he asked confused. "Did I do something wrong."

I shook my head. "No, God no. I swear it isn't you Sirius." I took a deep breath. "I just can't do this right now. Not with NEWT's and classes and everything else I just… can't."

"Cassidy," he tried to protest. "NEWT's are months away."

"They are the most important test's we'll ever take Sirius," I told him. "I need to be focused if I want to have a good future."

"Where is this coming from?" he asked again. "You've never cared this much before."

"Well that was before I missed almost an entire week of classes Sirius," I snapped. "I'm so far behind and it's only the beginning of October. Before we know it it'll be Christmas break and then Easter and then we graduate." I took a deep breath.

"Right now I need to focus," I told him calmly. "Once I'm caught up and a good way into the year we can finally be together again and we can be together in front of everyone not just our friends. Okay?"

He nodded his head. "Okay." He then made a face. "Does this mean you won't go to the Halloween dance with me?" I then made a face similar to the one he had just made.

"What dance?" I asked him. He laughed and shook his head.

"The other day when you were still in Mungos Dumbledore announced that we'd be having a Halloween dance this year instead of the Easter one," he explained to me. I nodded my head. "Your friends didn't tell you?"

"Not a word," I answered.

"Strange don't you think?" he asked a gleam in his eye. I looked at him then thought for a moment. I mean he was right. Normally this is something Lily and Marlene would be all over. Especially since Marlene is dating Remus and Lily and James basically undress each other with their eyes whenever they're within 10 feet of each other.

"Very," I finally answered. "Hey you don't think…"

"Yes as a matter of fact," he replied before I even finished. "Yes I do."

"I'll talk to Marlene and James and you talk to Remus and Lily," I said told him. He made a whining noise and I slapped his arm.

"Why do I have to talk to Lily?" he complained. "She's mean and scary."

"Are you seriously scared of 5'7" teenage girl?" I laughed at him. He glared at me and made another noise.

"Hey she is 5'7" of red-headed meanness," he spoke. "Especially towards me."

"Well I can't take Lily and James because we want them together and if I saw one thing to one and something different to the other then they'll turn on me," I explained. "Plus I need to talk to James because he's still pretty pissed that we… you know and he's least likely to hex me."

He groaned again. "Fine, but if she hurts me it's on you." I smiled widely.

"Whatever you say Black," I laughed. "Whatever you say."

"What's going on with you and Remus," I asked Marlene quietly during Transfiguration later that morning.

"We're fine," she said back simply.

"Are you guys going to the dance together?" I asked prying a bit deeper.

"Why are you so suddenly interested in my love life when you can hardly keep yours together," she snapped. I stared at her for a moment before going back to writing.

"Ok I'm going to pretend that didn't hurt," I said scribbling notes across my parchment. "But seriously what's up Marls?" She huffed and rolled her eyes.

"I'll tell you after class, now pay attention," she said avoiding eyes contact with me.

"Yes Miss. Clark," McGonagall said from behind me. "Please do pay attention." I heard the class making noises that sounded like contained laughter and my face began to heat up.

"Sorry Professor," I mumbled embarrassed.

"It's quite alright but please do wait to harass Miss. McKinnon about Mr. Lupin until after class," she said walking back to the front of the class. It was now Marlene and Remus' to turn red. Sirius looked back at me and gave me an ok sign and I silently flipped him off and he let out a bark like laugh.

"Something funny Mr. Black?" McGonagall asked from the front of the class.

"Nothing at all Professor," he said looking back at me again. "Nothing at all."

Sirius' POV:

"What's up with you and McKinnon," I asked Remus later that night. James and Peter were serving a detention so it was only me and Remus in our dormitories that night. He looked up from his book confused.

"Pardon?" he asked. I rolled my eyes and snatched the book from him.

"Cut the crap Moony," I said throwing the book over my shoulder. "Why aren't you two all lovey dovey anymore?"

"It's none of your business," he mumbled as he stood to retrieve his book. I grabbed his shoulder and faced him towards me.

"Moony," I said tiredly. "Look I'm not doing this for my health. I'm doing it for yours. So you can tell me now or I can go ask McKinnon and she'll give a better version of it." I said walking towards the door.

"Wait," he called at me. I smirked and shut the door and turned back towards him.

"Spill,"

Cassidy's POV:

"He said what?" I screeched later that night in our dorms. Lily was on patrols and Ellie was at her Astronomy lesson.

"He said that he wasn't good enough for me and that I deserved someone else," she croaked. I could tell she was trying to resist the urge to cry. I ran a hand through my hair and took a deep breath.

"Jeez Marls," I sighed. "I'm sorry."

"It's not your fault," she said with an attempt at a laugh.

Failed attempt might I add.

"I thought he liked me," she said tears starting to trickle down her face. "I thought he really liked me. But I guess I was wrong I guess I was just a notch in his bedpost."

"Wait you guys…" I said realizing what she had said. She shook her head.

"No, not in that way," she said. "But in other ways."

"Oh Marley," I whispered going over to her and hugging her. I sat with her for 10 minutes or so before I wasn't able to hold back.

"I'll be right back," I said grabbing my robe and slipping into my slippers.

"Where are you going," she asked with a sniffle.

"Nowhere important," I said rushing out the door. I made my way down the stairs fairly quickly and began to head up the boy's stairs when an arm caught me.

"Where do you think you're off to love?" Sirius asked as he began to pull me back down the stairs.

"Upstairs to yell at your friend," I said trying to push past him but he wouldn't budge.

"I wouldn't do that," he said as we finally got back down. "I gave him enough crap he doesn't need it from you as well."

"But he really hurt Marlene," I exclaimed. "She deserves justice."

"And she'll get it," he said leaning against the back of the couch. "Just give it some time love."

"I don't understand why he had to break her heart though," I said exasperated. "Or why he went out with her in the first place if he was only going to break up with her before it got serious."

That was when serious began to squirm a little. I gave him a weird look and told him to sit still. But that's when I realized he knew more than he was letting on.

"Alright Black what do you know?" I asked crossing my arms across my body.

"Nothing, what?" he asked. "I don't know what you mean love." He was trying to brush this off. But I wasn't going to let him.

"Sirius please tell me," I said resting a hand over his knowing he wouldn't be able to resist. He was silent for a moment before letting out a loud groan and pinching the bridge of his nose.

"Bloody hell," he groaned. "You're going to be the death of me Clark. What I'm about to tell you can't be ever spoken about to anyone ever. Understand. You can't tell anyone. Lily, Ellie, Marlene. Especially Marlene."

"I'm an excellent secret keeper," I said with a wink.

"That I believe," he muttered. He then proceed to tell me about Remus's past. When he was a young boy his father was a writer for the newspaper. He had made fun of a much feared werewolf; Fenrir Greyback. When he had got wind of what Remus' dad had said he want to make him pay.

"So he bit Remus," I said the realization coming to me. "And turned him into a werewolf." Sirius nodded grimly.

"That's why he's always so ill around full moon," I said. "God I can't believe I never realized."

"It's alright love you can't figure everything out for yourself," he said with a smirk. "You need help sometimes."

"God poor Remus," I said ignoring his comment. "He has to go through those terrible transformations on his own every month."

And then Sirius began to get squeamish again.

I eventually got him to tell me that he, James, and Peter where animagi. He was a black dog, James a stag, and Peter a rat. He told me of their adventures during full moon and how they figured out what to do etc.

"Wow," I said amazed. "Just wow."

"You can't tell anyone Cassidy," he said with worry. "About either things. Please promise me."

"I'll take it to the grave Sirius," I said.

I stuck out my hand and we shook on it.

Wait I didn't end on a cliffhanger? What as the world come too? Just kidding I thought you guys deserved a break from my cliffhangers. I hope you all liked this chapter. Sorry things are going a bit slowly but they will speed up soon I promise! Have a good rest of the week, if you are all good and review then I'll update later this week too! :)
