Episode 7: Shadow Mario Runs Wild

Mario erupted into a fit of untamable and choleric fury as his eyes found his imposter on the other side of the bridge. The red-capped hero adjusted his red hat and then took off running after the fiendish clown. His loyal comrades were behind him and honestly didn't feel like chasing Shadow Mario. Truthfully, they were all fed up with his malicious games and just wanted this nightmare to end. The guy seriously just didn't know when to stop. Anyway, why even bother chasing him when he was just going to get away in the end? He always got away! They never caught him. So, Mario just went after him because he was so angry that Bowser's son was still trying to pose as him. Why even bother anymore?!

Leaping forward and sliding his belly across the wooden bridge, Mario did a front flip and stylishly landed on his feet. Right after that, he confronted the fiendish imposter, immensely disliking the expression of pure and dark jolliness penetrating his features. When Mario got close to the imposter, he attempted to deliver a punch to his face. Ducking underneath the swing of his fist, Shadow Mario released a wicked cackle and jabbed the end of his Magic Paintbrush into Mario's gut, stealing the wind right out of him. Mario gasped and doubled over, holding his stomach in pain. FLUDD bounced on Mario's back in concern, trying to warn him of Shadow Mario's next assault.

Still chortling like the little devil he was, the faker performed a vertical swing with his Magic Paintbrush, trying to bash Mario's head in with it. From FLUDD's sudden warning, the red-capped hero was able to get a hold of himself and ignore the pain in his belly. He straightened up and then caught the stupid paintbrush with his hand, stunning Shadow Mario for a few seconds. That was all the time Mario needed to jab his fist into the imposter's throat. Choking, Shadow Mario wobbled backwards and clawed at his throat, almost whining. As Mario was fighting the imposter, his friends came by to watch, unwilling to participate in the fight. Why? Shadow Mario was just going to get away in the end, so it didn't make any sense to pursue him. Still, they'd get a Shine Sprite, which was pretty awesome!

"Get'em, Mario!" Pauline cheered, hands cupped over her mouth to make her voice heard.

Sonic threw a fist into the air. "Let him have it!"

"Goooooooooo Mario!" Silver did a little dance.

Blaze simply stood there, staring at Silver as if he were crazy. Sonic snickered loudly and put his attention on the other hedgehog. "You sounded like a cheerleader, Silver!"

"I am NOT a cheerleader!"

"Hey! I said you sounded like one; I never said that you were one!"

"That's still an insult!"

"Guys, stop!" growled Pauline, glaring at the two males and shaking her head. She was annoyed by their bickering. Her hands were on her hips and she did not look happy.

Sonic rolled his green eyes at her while Silver pouted.

Anyway, Mario released a yawp of surprise as Shadow Mario took out his legs from underneath him by slashing at him with his Magic Paintbrush. Mario collapsed to the ground on his rear and then Shadow Mario flipped into the air, coming down with a devastating blow to the chest from his Magic Paintbrush. Mario was too shocked to respond to the oncoming attack, so the brush impacted his chest and Mario howled with pain. That only made Shadow Mario laugh gleefully and try to do the same attack again. Mario rolled out of the way and then hopped to his feet, coming in with a punch to the face, which Shadow Mario failed to evade. Stumbling back and screaming like a girl, Shadow Mario brought a hand to his nose and turned around to start fleeing. However, Mario was one step ahead of him.

Appearing in front of the imposter, Mario pulled down the trigger on FLUDD and sprayed the faker in the face with water. Yowling like a cat, Shadow Mario backed up and held out a hand, sputtering and choking. "Take this, fiend!" shouted the red hero, still spraying the imposter in the face without mercy.

Shadow Mario spat out some water and then suddenly flipped into the air, avoiding the spraying. Then, he landed on his feet and simply took off running, swiping the ground with his Magic Paintbrush and creating an unnecessary mess. Mario followed him quickly, spraying him in the back with FLUDD and not letting up at all. Shadow Mario kept running until he couldn't take it anymore. Falling to the ground, Bowser's son instantly started throwing a horrible tantrum, banging his fists into the ground and kicking his legs all about, sobbing like a baby. Honestly, the fiend acted like an immature five year old who couldn't watch cartoons before bedtime!

"Aaarrgh!" he complained. "I'll remember this!"

Immediately afterwards, the imposter dispersed into nothingness, leaving behind a Shine Sprite. The Shine Sprite lifted up into the air and shined brightly, giving out warmth to all who were near it. The plumber grinned from underneath his mustache, nabbing the Shine Sprite and spinning around, holding it up victoriously.

"Shine!" he cried.

"Yo, Mario!" Sonic greeted, speeding over to his buddy. "How was the fight?"

Mario tucked the Shine Sprite away and glanced at the blue hedgehog, noticing Pauline, Silver, and Blaze making their way over to them. "It was fine, I guess. You guys didn't even bother helping me!"

"We're sorry, Mario," commented Pauline, giving Mario an apologetic look.

Mario nodded. "It's fine."

"No, it's not!" wailed Silver, putting his gloved hands in the air. "We're SO sorry!"

Mario looked at him. "Silver, 'tis fine!"

"Fine!"

Sonic released a heavy sigh, looking tired all of a sudden. "Anyway, you guys want to go back to Bianco Square and get some sleep?"

"That sounds like a good idea," replied Pauline, nodding her head.

"Yeah!" Silver caterwauled. "The Fluff Festival is tomorrow! I'm so looking forward to that!"

Blaze was bobbing her head in a nod. "Yes. We need rest before tomorrow arrives."

"Good," let out Mario.

So, the quintet of heroes ventured away from Pianta Village, going back to Bianco Square to get some sleep. Tomorrow was the Fluff Festival and they were sure to have some fun then, right? Right!
