Episode 3: The Battle with Bowser!

Floating in the steaming, hot green water in pure relaxation, Bowser grinned at his son who was sitting in the water with him, also relaxing. "Bwaaaa ha ha!" he laughed like it was the most greatest thing in the entire world. "The water's great, eh, Jr.?" he asked his son.

"Sure is, papa!" Bowser Jr. instantly agreed with his father, splashing about and enjoying himself, giggling right afterwards. There was a malicious grin spread across his face.

Bowser nodded in approval, putting his attention on his two other guests who were sitting atop a large rubber ducky. Peach and Amy were there, avoiding the water like their lives depended on it. Peach looked about ready to faint while Amy was just clinging to Peach, not wanting to get in the hot water. It looked like it would boil them alive!

Bowser's kid swam over to the two of them and he shook the rubber ducky, almost making them topple off of it. "Come on in, Mama Peach, Aunt Amy," he caterwauled, almost sounding like he was whining. "The water's great! Plus, it's soothing!"

"No way!" blabbed Amy, shaking her head from side to side and still keeping her arms around the princess. She was staring down at the water in pure disdain. "That doesn't look good at all! Why does it look like it's going to boil us alive?! And why is it freaking green?!"

Peach hummed in thought and stared at the water beneath them, holding her umbrella with her hands. "Ummm…I think not, Bowser Jr. Sorry." She was definitely not getting in there.

"HIYAH!"

Suddenly, Mario, Sonic, Pauline, Silver, and Blaze showed up simultaneously, jumping up and landing in front of them, standing on the edge of their giant hot tub.

"Amy! Peach! We're here to save you!" Sonic declared, doing a pose.

"We're here, princess!" announced Mario, getting into a fighting stance and glaring at Bowser and his son. "Don't worry about a thing!"

Silver jumped up and down. "Finally!"

Blaze nodded from beside him, arms folded. "They shall feel our immense wrath!"

"Mario!" Peach gasped, hand going to her heart.

Amy released Peach and got to her feet on top of the rubber ducky. "SONIC!" she screamed out in pure happiness, wanting to run over there and attack him with a powerful hug. "…and Silver…Blaze…?" Now she was confused.

"Yup! We're here to save you guys, Amy!" Silver answered her, waving at her. "Long time no see, by the way!"

"Hello, Amy," commented Blaze, nodding at her calmly.

Amy smiled at them widely and then put her attention on a girl she did not recognize. It was Pauline and she was standing next to Sonic, surveying the area. Amy immediately got the wrong idea and growled viciously, taking out her hammer. "WHO IS THAT GIRL WITH YOU, SONIC?! IS SHE YOUR GIRLFRIEND?!" she screeched loudly, almost breaking everyone's eardrums.

"GAH! Shut up, will you?!" Bowser roared, holding his hands over his ears.

"Papa, I think my ears are broken!"

"Nah, Jr.! They're just-wait-is that blood?!"

"AHHHHHHH!"

Sonic wagged a finger at Amy, sweat-dropping while everyone else introduced their face to their palms. "No, Amy. Pauline is NOT my girlfriend!"

"Oh, okay!" Amy cheered up instantly. "Now get over here and save us!"

Bowser Jr. growled angrily at the heroes. "You again?! Don't you ever give up?!"

"Mario!" bellowed Bowser, his loud voice thundering loudly throughout the area. "How dare you disturb my family vacation?!"

Actually seeing Bowser for the first time since they got there, everyone was shocked from his size. Was he always that big? Mario stumbled back a little while Silver trembled and Blaze's eyes widened. Sonic was just staring with his mouth wide open and Pauline had her hand covering her mouth in stunned silence.

"W-Was he always that big?" Silver breathed out.

Mario shrugged. "I dunno!"

"What do you mean you don't know?" Sonic shot back, throwing up his hands. "You fight him all the time!"

Mario chuckled nervously.

"Mario, help us!" Peach cried, reaching out a hand towards her hero.

"Sonic!" shouted Amy, looking frustrated.

"I'm coming, Amy!" Sonic stated, gazing down at the water in the tub. "Uh…as soon as I figure out how!"

Bowser was beyond furious. "I will not let you ruin my family vacation, Mario and his foolish friends! This is supposed to be about MY family having a GREAT VACATION!"

"Yeah!" added Bowser Jr., contempt in his tone.

"Uh, they aren't your family!" Silver retorted, looking flabbergasted. "Peach and Amy are in no way related to you, Bowser!"

Bowser snorted. "Peach is my wife and Amy is my sister! Get that through your head, bozo!"

Silver looked offended. "Well then!"

"Impossible…" trailed Blaze, shaking her head from side to side. "It's just not possible."

Amy threw her hands into the air. "That's what we've been trying to tell his kid, but he wouldn't listen! Bowser is obviously lying to him!"

"Aunt Amy, don't call my papa a liar!" Bowser Jr. shrieked like an enraged banshee.

"But he is!"

"No, he isn't!"

"He is!"

Amy felt like bashing his brains in with her hammer, but she refrained from doing so and decided to just stay on the rubber ducky, longing to be near Sonic again.

"They won't listen to reason!" Peach wailed.

"Apparently," muttered Mario, preparing for a fight.

Bowser suddenly breathed out fire and roared ridiculously loud. "YOU WILL NOT DAMAGE MY FAMILY VACATION! YOU WILL ALL DISAPPEAR!" The guy was extremely choleric.

Then, he released another stream of flames towards the five heroes. Everyone dived out of the way just in time before it burned them to a crisp.

"Well, here we go!" Sonic bellowed, jumping forward and summoning one of his moves. "Sonic Wind!" His attack blasted towards Bowser, knocking him backwards some and causing the whole hot tub to rock.

"LEAVE MY PAPA ALONE!" Bowser Jr. hissed nastily and released some Bullet Bills from some contraption he was sitting in. The Bullet Bills headed straight for the group!

Silver used his telekinesis to grab a hold of the Bullet Bills, making them turn around in midair and he flung his arm out, sending them back where they came. "How about this? Take this!"

The Bullet Bills crashed into Bowser Jr. and he wailed in pain, clawing at his burnt face. "AAAHHHHH!"

"Son!" Bowser hollered. "You'll pay for that!"

Before Silver knew it, Bowser spat out a blast of flames in the hedgehog's direction, drenching him in the stuff. Silver cried out in pain and started running around while his fur was on fire. "HELP ME!"

Mario waddled over and used FLUDD to spray Silver, putting out the flames with ease. The red-capped hero noticed that the hedgehog lost about half of his life pieces, which was bad. Searching around with his eyes, the plumber found some kind of strange design on the ground that was just begging to be Ground Pounded into!

"Silver, are you alright?" questioned Blaze, running over to her boyfriend and helping him back to his feet. "You can't be so reckless!"

Silver gave her a small smile. "Don't worry…I'm fine."

Blaze huffed and faced Bowser. "You will pay for that, you hideous creature!"

Bowser was totally offended. "How DARE you?!"

Without a word, Blaze whipped out her hand and blasted fire at Bowser. Bowser wasn't affected too much by it, but he did cringe a little bit from mild pain. "BWAAAA HA HA! Is that all you got?"

"He sure is cocky!" Sonic put in.

"Like you?" asked Pauline, amusement evident in her eyes as she stood beside him.

Sonic frowned at her. "Hey!"

Pauline only laughed.

Meanwhile, Mario ventured over to the strange design and used FLUDD's Rocket Nozzle to blast up into the air. Then, he delivered a devastating Ground Pound into the design and it caused the hot tub to crack tremendously, sending hot water out of the tub.

"Whoa!" Sonic jumped out of the way, terrified.

"Yikes! That stuff's hot!" Silver threw in, holding onto Blaze's arm as he moved away rapidly.

Amy and Peach, who were still on top of the rubber ducky, clung to each other for dear life, feeling the rubber ducky sway violently from the impact. "Ooooooh," Peach moaned, not wanting to be boiled alive. "Please be careful!"

"Sorry!" Mario called out.

"That seems to be effective," FLUDD said to the plumber, nodding his head. "Keep doing that about four more times."

"Four more times?!"

"…Yes."

"Fine…!"

Mario informed his comrades about the designs on the floor, telling them that they just had to hit four more of those with a Ground Pound and then that should finish Bowser and his annoying son. So everyone got to work!

Jumping over a stream of flames, Pauline ran towards the next design as everyone else kept Bowser occupied. As she was running over, Bowser Jr. decided to be a brat and he unleashed three more Bullet Bills from his stupid contraption.

"Oh no!" Pauline cried, whisking away one of the Bullet Bills with her wind abilities, but was too slow for the other two. Before she could get hit, Sonic was in front of her and he took the blow for her, losing some of his life.

"SONIC!" Amy screamed, seeing what had happened. "Sonic, speak to me!"

"Ugh…" Sonic moaned, grabbing his head. "That hurt…a lot!"

Pauline helped Sonic to his feet, worried. "You didn't have to do that!"

Sonic waved a hand at her dismissively. "No, I had to! Now get going!"

Reluctantly, Pauline turned away from him and moved over to the design on the ground. She floated up into the air and then sent a Ground Pound into it, shaking the hot tub once more and causing it to crack all around some more.

"Three more times!" FLUDD announced as loud as he could, happy that they were making progress.

Bowser was now irate. "YOU PESKY MARIO AND FRIENDS! GRRAAAH!" Right after that, he blasted some flames at the quintet and Bowser Jr. sent more Bullet Bills after them.

Completely fed up, Amy jumped off of the rubber ducky with her hammer held high. With a cry, she slammed her hammer down upon Bowser's son's head. Bowser Jr. squeaked in pain and swatted at his 'aunt'.

"OUCH! Why did you do that, Aunt Amy?!" Bowser Jr. screamed in fury.

Amy landed on his contraption, still gripping her hammer tightly in her hands. "I'm NOT your aunt! Leave my friends alone, weirdo!"

"Amy!" Peach couldn't believe Amy jumped off of the rubber ducky! What if she fell into the boiling water below?!

Sonic released a sigh of relief when he found that Amy was safe. He could see Blaze absorbing Bowser's flames and Silver using his telekinesis to hold them back. "Amy, what were you thinking?!" he called out to her, running over to the next design on the ground.

"What?" Amy snapped. "I wanted to help!"

"Well, we don't need your help! We'll deal with this!" Sonic shouted at her, rolling his green eyes.

The pink hedgehog let out a growl and gripped her hammer even tighter, remaining where she was as Bowser Jr. wept and rubbed at his head.

When Sonic reached the other design, he Ground Pounded into it and the whole tub cracked once more and shook rigorously. Sonic kept his balance and saw Mario running towards him.

"Good work, Sonic!" Mario praised.

"J-Just two m-more times, Mario!" FLUDD shouted, voice trembling from the shaking of the tub.

Mario nodded his head and he and Sonic headed for the other designs simultaneously, wanting to finish this once and for all. While they did that, Blaze, Silver, and Pauline kept Bowser busy.

"Why do you insist on ruining my family vacation?!" roared Bowser, sending flames their way unmercifully.

"They aren't a part of your family, Bowser!" Pauline shrieked at him, using her abilities to blow the fires away. "Stop lying to yourself and stop lying to your son!"

Silver cast a hand out, sending the flames away. "Hah!"

Blaze just took the fires and hurled them back at Bowser, avoiding the green water that was spilling all over the place. It certainly was hot. "He won't listen, you guys."

"HIYAH!" Mario Ground Pounded into the second to last piece of the tub, breaking it. It was then that all the other parts that they had Ground Pounded started breaking apart and falling into the nothingness below.

"There…is…one…more…p…p…place…" FLUDD sent a comment the plumber's way.

Mario peered over his shoulder. "FLUDD, are you okay?"

"I am fine…" FLUDD trailed off.

Mario was unconvinced, but he shrugged and looked ahead, seeing Sonic taking care of the final place. As soon as Sonic slammed into the piece on the ground, the whole tub broke apart and everyone started howling for their lives as they all started falling to the ground.

"WHOA!" Sonic yelled as he fell.

"This is the end!" wailed Silver as he clung to Blaze.

Blaze rolled her eyes. "Relax, Silver!"

"AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!" Bowser howled like a dying wolf as he fell below the clouds and started coming close to the ground; his son was right behind him.

"PAPA!"

Peach was floating down gently, using her umbrella to do so. She was gazing at all of the falling bodies, wishing she could help. "Oh no…"

"WAAAAAAA!" Mario hollered as he went down.

"SONIC!" Amy screamed loudly as she fell down, keeping her dress down with her hands so it wouldn't fly up.

As Sonic went falling to the ground, he managed to make his way over to the pink hedgehog in the air and scooped her up into his arms. He was definitely going to break her fall. Amy instantly wrapped her arms around his neck and snuggled close to him, which made Sonic very uncomfortable.

"My hero!" she blubbered.

"Amy…you're crushing my throat…"

"Oh! Sorry! Tee hee!"

Pauline was floating down next to Princess Peach, using her own abilities to do so. She wondered why Silver wasn't using his levitation techniques, but oh well.

When they reached the ground, Mario got his head stuck in the sand, Sonic landed on his back with Amy sitting on top of him, Silver landed on his bottom, Blaze landed on her feet, Peach elegantly allowed her feet to touch the ground, Pauline was right beside her, and Bowser and Bowser Jr. were nowhere to be found!

"Ugh…is everyone okay?" asked Silver, getting to his feet and rubbing his behind, wincing.

"I am," replied Blaze, dusting herself off.

Sonic groaned loudly and in clear agony. "Amy…get off…I can't breathe…"

"Sorry, Sonic!" Amy belted out, removing herself from the blue hedgehog and grabbing his hand, pulling him off of the ground. As soon as she helped him, Sonic sighed in great relief.

With a grunt, Mario pulled his head out of the sand and bounced backwards, landing on the sand next to Peach. The princess started to smile at him, but then a horrified expression appeared on Mario's face and she had no idea why. "Mario, what's wrong?"

"Where's FLUDD?!" Mario panicked.

FLUDD wasn't on his back!

"FLUDD!" gasped Pauline, hands going to her mouth in shock and horror.

Everyone looked in the direction of where she was looking at and could see FLUDD lying on his side in the sand, unmoving and completely still.

"FLUDD…?" Sonic whispered, almost shaking.

Silver's eyes got big. "FLUDD…what happened…?"

Blaze simply looked away, unable to form words.

"Oh no…" Amy clutched at her dress, knowing that FLUDD was probably a friend of theirs. It was so sad to see.

Peach didn't say anything and just covered her mouth with her hand, downcast.

Without a word, Mario crawled over to FLUDD in the sand and scooped the device up into his arms, cradling him and staring down at him.

"Mario…" FLUDD muttered weakly.

"Yes, FLUDD…?" Mario forced out, his voice broken.

FLUDD struggled to form words of his own. "…was I…of assis…tance?"

"Of course you were!" Mario blurted out fiercely, tears appearing in his eyes. "You were extremely helpful to us all! We couldn't have done it without you!"

Sonic marched right over and kneeled next to Mario, gazing at FLUDD. "He's right, FLUDD!"

"We appreciated everything you've done for us…" Blaze said, walking over and getting on the ground next to Mario, staring at the device.

"You were way more than that!" Silver commented, sniffling and rubbing at his eyes to get rid of the tears.

Pauline collapsed to her knees on the other side of Mario, reaching over and gently stroking FLUDD's head, even though he probably couldn't feel that. "You're our friend, FLUDD…" she said softly.

FLUDD didn't say anything more and then went limp in Mario's arms. Instantly, everyone reacted to this in different ways. Mario bowed his head and shut his eyes tightly, allowing the tears to roam free.

Sonic looked away, closing his eyes, but not shedding a tear. He balled his hands into tight fists, wishing that this didn't happen. Why did they have to lose a friend?

"FLUDD!" Silver sobbed, throwing his face in his hands.

Blaze looked down at her lap, unable to stare at FLUDD any longer. There was pain in her heart and she was experiencing immense sadness.

"FLUDD, no…" Pauline started crying softly, burying her face in her hands and shaking her head, unable to believe what just happened.

Amy walked over until she was standing next to Peach. Peach had a solemn expression present on her face and Amy looked equally disturbed.

Suddenly, something captured Peach's attention and she gently placed a hand on Mario's shoulder. "Mario, look…"

Lifting his head, Mario could see the final Shine Sprite from their battle floating in the air. It spun for a moment, giving off a very bright light. After a moment, it zoomed over to the giant Shine Sprite and all of the rest and joined with them. Instantly, Isle Delfino returned to its former glory, for real this time!

Immediately, all of the inhabitants started cheering and jumping for joy, glad that the Shine Sprites were restored. It was wonderful and their cheers could be heard from all the way in the plaza!

"Well," Sonic said, getting to his feet and crossing his arms over his chest, watching the spectacle. "We did it."

Mario glanced at him and couldn't help but smile a little. "Yeah," he said. "We did."

[Meanwhile…]

Bowser and Bowser Jr. were sitting atop a floating piece of…a thingamajig in the water, watching the Shine Sprites merge with each other from afar. Bowser looked highly uncomfortable about something and he reluctantly looked down at his son.

"Jr., I've got something…difficult…to tell you about Princess Peach and Amy Rose…" Bowser grumbled unwillingly.

Bowser Jr. didn't look at him. "I know she's not really my Mama and that Amy isn't my Aunt…"

Shock jumped onto Bowser's features. How in the world did his son know? All this time?!

"Someday…when I'm bigger…" his son started speaking again, still not looking at his father.

Bowser expected the worse. Was his son going to never speak to him again when he got bigger?

Then, Bowser's negative feelings instantly changed when his child finally looked at him with a malicious grin spread across his facial features.

"I wanna fight that Mario and his friends again!"

Roaring with laughter, Bowser patted the top of his head. "That's my boy! Well put, son! The royal Koopa line is as strong as ever! But for now, let's just rest for awhile."

"Okay, papa!"
