Forever Young

Guy's I apologize for not updating for so long. I intended for this chapter to be longer but I couldn't get the words to flow from my fingers. I'm working on chapter 32 right now and I should have it up next week hopefully. Sorry for the long wait again and sorry this chapter is short! Enjoy!

Chapter 31: Helping Hands

Cassidy's POV:

I ran out of the library without another word. I turned down the hallway and saw the familiar black hair. I raced after it and began to call out.

"Snape!" I yelled. "Hey wait up!" He failed to hear me, or he didn't want to stop for me. I kept running after him. When I finally caught up to him I grabbed his shoulder and spun him around.

"I need to talk to you," I said through gritted teeth. "Now." He rolled his eyes and kept walking down the hall. "I'm serious Snape! It's important." He kept ignoring me. He finally stopped and opened a door he looked around and pointed at it.

"Get in," he commanded. I gave him a questioning look. "Do you want to talk or not?" I grudgingly enter the classroom and stand with my arms crossed.

"I know you helped Ellie poison my brother," I told him after he locked the door and placed a silencing charm across the door. "And I need your help to reverse it."

"What makes you think I'd help you," he asked snootily. "Obviously is I helped her I wouldn't help you as well. That is what I'd like to call counter-productive."

"Severus please," I pleaded. "He's brother. He's the only family I have left at least biologically. And Ellie knows that. But she's not going to stop with Spencer. She'll move on to the Potters, Sirius, Remus, Marlene." I seemed unimpressed so I decided to us the big guns. "She'll even go after Lily."

This caught his attention.

"That's right," I said my voice catching in my throat. "But I'm sure you wouldn't care what would happen to your ex-best friend."

"What do you want?" he snapped.

"I want the antidote," I told him. "Or I at least want to know how to get it."

"I can't give it to you or make it," he told him after a few moments of silence. "But I can tell you where to get it."

"Go on," I said sitting down on an abandoned desk.

"There's an apothecary in Knockturn Alley," he began. "Ask the clerk for frog parts mixture and strengthening solution. Mix the two together and add in a leave of dittany. Give it to your brother and he should be better in a few hours."

I nodded my head. "Frog parts, strengthening solution, and dittany. Got it," I said my voice cracking as if I were going to cry. "Thank you so much Severus, really." He nods his head and unlocks the door and takes off the silencing charm. I began to leave the room when a realization came to mind. I turned my head and looked at him sadly.

"If she finds out you helped me she'll hurt you," I said. He shook his head.

"Then I guess she won't find out," he said with a shoulder shrug. I smiled kindly and ran out of the room and back to the library.

"I've got it," I said grabbing the remainder of my stuff. "I've got the antidote recipe."

"You do?" both Andrew and Sirius asked.

"I do," I said. "Now I have to go figure out how to get it the things I need and get it to my brother." I quickly left the library and went back to the dorms to plan.

The only time I would be able to get away and get the things for the potion and give it to Spencer would be the day they're supposed to administer the dose of Death-Cap draught to him. There was a Hogsmeade weekend in two weeks and James and I were going to apparate away to get the antidote ingredients for Spencer.

"Are you sure this will work?" he asked the next morning at breakfast.

"Positive," I assured him. "We leave the castle and head into Hogsmeade as soon as the gates are open. We head to the shrieking shack and from there we apparate to Knockturn Alley and find the apothecary that Snape told me about and get the things. Then after that we apparate to the hospital and sneak it to Spencer before they can give him the draught and before we get caught."

They all looked at me like I was insane.

"It'll work," I said poking at my strawberries. "It has to work."

"Anyway changing the subject," Lily said clearing her throat. "I found some information on Wendell Carlisle. I wrote it down and marked the page of the book. You should check it out Cass."

"You did? Where did you find it?" I asked suddenly curious.

"In the book we found in Mr. Potters Library," she told me. "I was looking through and it mentions him. It's only for a brief moment but I think it gives you something to go off of."

"Thanks Lil's," I exclaimed finishing the last of my breakfast quickly. "Is the book in your trunk?"

"Yeah," she said. "I disguised it as another potions textbook though. In case Ellie tried to find it."

"Why would she be looking?" I asked.

"You never know," she shrugged her shoulders. I said good-bye then took off back to the dorms. I gave the password to the Fat Lady and entered the common room. There was no one in there so I started making my way towards the stairs when I heard noise coming from them.

"And you're positive you didn't see the book anywhere?" a high-pitched voice asked.

"One hundred percent," a second voice said this one deeper than the first. And I knew exactly who the voices belonged too.

"I know it has to be in there somewhere," Ellie growled. Her voice was closer this time. I panicked but quickly hid myself behind the curtains of a far window.

"What makes you so sure that they are actually searching?" Peter asked as the finally reached the common room.

"Have you meet your friends," she snapped. "They're like the Scooby doo squad or something. Trying to stop the bad guy, HA! As if they'll ever stop me."

"They're still looking for the antidote for Cassi's brother," Peter told her. "In two more week's he'll be dead and then we can move on to the next target."

"He better watch his back," she cackled. "He'll never suspect it." And with that the two left the room. I stayed hidden for a few minutes trying to process what I had just heard. They had to be talking about Sirius or James. Or maybe even Remus. I took a deep breath and peaked out behind the curtain and then ran up the stairs as quick as I could. I slammed the door and slid down it breathing fast and heavy. I then began my search for Lily's book.

I dug around in her trunk when I finally came across the research book in disguise. I pulled it out and opened it to the page Lily had marked for me.

Wendell Carlisle was a famous pure-blood wizard fighting for the rights of Muggle Born wizards. He fought to allow muggle-born witches and wizards attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He was successful in the year

"Hey you-"

"AAAHHH!" I screamed dropping the book and myself to the floor.

"Cassidy! What the hell are you okay?" Lily asked running in and crouching down next to me.

I nodded my head and took in deep breaths. "You startled me," I told her. "I thought you were Ellie and Peter."

"Peter? How in the hell would Peter get up the stairs," she asked.

"I don't know," I told her catching my breath. "Ellie probably figured out a spell or something. Point is I thought you were coming in here to kill me."

"Nope," she laughed slightly. "Just getting my Charms book."

"Right," I said standing up. I placed the book in my bag and moved towards the door. I held it open for Lily and went through after her. We made our way to Charms and went on the rest of the day like nothing had happened. But I couldn't shake the feeling that something bad was going to happen soon.

Well that's plesant isn't it? I meant to post yesterday but fanfiction wasn't working on my computer or something. It was weird. Next chapter should be up next Friday or Saturday. Hope you enjoyed!
