Forever Young

This is literally the most boring chapter I've ever written and I would like to apologize profusely for that. Oh and Happy Easter! I was suppose to go to my grandmothers today but my mom isn't feeling to well so we skipped out on brunch. Fine by me because I got to finish some last minute homework stuff and I got to watch some Netflix. So maybe you'll enjoy this incredibly boring chapter, probably not. Sorry...

Chapter 42: Isaac NEWTon Once Said….

Cassidy's POV:

"Are you sure you're okay Lily," I asked her. It was the Sunday morning before we took our first NEWT and everyone was freaking out. Especially Lily.

"I'm fine," she said with a smile, her emerald eyes crazed and wild. "Just need to finish doing some review before tomorrow morning."

"If you say so," I said eyeing the mug in front of her. When she went to take a sip I reached out and grabbed it. "Maybe you should stick with water for now? Or pumpkin juice. Anything without caffeine in it." She rolled her eyes at me but just kept studying. I looked at my friends around me and it seemed that all anyone was doing was studying.

"You all just need to take a deep breath," I told them. "Everything is going to be okay."

"Not everyone can hold and maintain all this information Cass," James said. "Not all of us are the top of the class."

"Well it's not like it happened overnight," I countered. "I worked hard to get there and I'm working even harder to stay there."

"Just shut up," Marlene snapped. "Both of you, I'm trying to remember the ingredients to this potion." James just went back to studying along with everyone else. The only person not in a study frenzy was Remus. I cleared my throat to get his attention and then gestured towards the door. He smiled and nodded and we quietly left the hall without anyone looking up from their notes.

"I understand Marlene being worried but Lily?" I noted as soon as we were out of the Great Hall.

"I know right," Remus agreed. "She seems too stressed out. I wonder why."

"I mean she's one of the smartest people I know. I think the only reason she's not top in the class is because she wasn't exposed to this stuff as long as I was," I concluded.

"She's probably insecure about it all," he said. "Like you said, you've been exposed to this since before you were born. She's only known about it for 7 years. She must feel left behind."

"I'll talk to her later," I said. I linked my arm through his and steered him towards the Main Hall doors. We went outside and sat by the infamous Marauder tree.

"Have you told Marlene yet?" I asked him. "About your 'furry little secret'?"

He flinched and shook his head. "I really wish you guys wouldn't call it that."

"Would you prefer 'time of the month'?" I teased. He glared at me and I just laughed. "But seriously Remus you should tell her. Especially if you plan to be with her once we graduate."

"But what if I'm not?" he said. "What if I don't plan on being with her once we leave here."

"Are you planning on not being with her?" I questioned him. "Don't you love her?"

"Of course I love her," he snapped. "But it has to end at some point doesn't it. I can't lead her on forever."

"But if you love her why lead her on at all?" I countered.

"Because Cassidy," he exclaimed. "My kind don't get married. They don't reproduce."

"Your kind? Remus what in the bloody hell are you talking about," I sighed slightly confused. He groaned and dropped his head into his hands. We were both silent waiting for the other to speak. Finally he broke the unbearable silence.

"Werewolves don't typically have families. They don't get married and they certainly don't have children. Marlene...she want's all that and… and I can't give it to her," he finally said. "She should be with someone who can."

"Remus thats ...insane! You can't think like that," I told him. "You have to think positive. There will be a good outcome. I promise."

"You can't promise me anything Cassidy," he said.

"Well I'm promising that you'll get your happy ending. I don't care if it kills me. You are going to get the girl," I smiled and grabbed his hand. He smiled back and squeezed it. We continued to talk until our friends had made their way outside.

"How are you two not freaking out," Marlene asked as she sat on Remus' lap.

"I had my freakout back in September when I missed two weeks of school from appendicitis," I told her as I leaned against Sirius' chest.

"It's true she did," Sirius inputted. "I was there to witness it." Everyone began laughing as I rolled my eyes and smacked Sirius' arm.

"Anyways," I said changing the subject. "What test is first on the agenda tomorrow?"

"Charms, Defense, and Herbology are tomorrow at 8, 12, and 4 o'clock respectively. Then on Tuesday History of Magic,Transfiguration, and Potions are at the the same times. Muggle Studies, Astronomy, and Arithmancy are Wednesday. Thursdays the Apparation test for 6th years and then Friday there's Ancient Runes, Care of Magical Creatures, and Divination," Lily recited like shes had it memorized for weeks.

"Okay then," I said not really sure what she had said because she rattled it all off so quickly. "Make sure to write that down for me then."

"So Monday and Tuesday are full," Sirius noted. "Wednesday we have two and Friday one."

"Excellent," James said. "We have an easy day on Friday. I've got Care of Magical Creatures which is a piece of cake."

"Well I've got Ancient Runes which is bloody hard if you ask me," Sirius complained.

"Then why'd you take it?" I asked turning to face him.

"Easy," he began to explain. "Divination is rubbish, and Care of Magical Creatures is worse than History of Magic with Binns."

"Well alright then," I said smiling.

"Can someone go over these flashcards with me," Lily asked pulling cards out of her cardigan pocket.

"Put them away Lily," I told her. "We should do something fun! Something exciting, it's our last day before we go through a week of hell. We should celebrate!"

"By doing what?" Marlene asked. "We're kinda locked inside a castle. Theres nothing much to do here."

"We could...uhmm... well," I stuttered trying to come up with something. "Well we are not studying anymore. If we don't know it now we aren't going to know it by tomorrow morning."

"She's got a point," James said. "Let's just relax and enjoy our last day of freedom for the week."

And that is exactly what we did.

"Good Morning 7th year students. This morning we will be administering the written portion of your Charms NEWT. You will have one hour to complete it before moving on to the practical portion of the exam. Take your time and good luck," the proctor from the ministry went and sat back down after giving his little speech. The test appeared on my desk and I could see the people around me begin to write.

I cracked my neck, picked up my quill and began to take the test. It was easy for the most part. I mean it was Charms one of the easier classes. Once I got through the multiple choice and true false questions I began my essay. I simply had to explain what everyday tasks could be done with simple or complex charms.

After Charms was Defense Against the Dark Arts. For DADA all we had to do was write an essay about the 3 Unforgivable Curses. I let out a sigh and began to scribble down my answer. For Herbology we had to do a lot of identifying plants and telling what they do. Thank Merlin there was no essay.

"Six more tests," I sighed. "Six more tests and we're done." We had just finished Herbology and were settling into our dorms before dinner.

"I think I'm going to pass out," Marlene sighed.

"I'm with you on that," I yawned. "Wake us when its time for dinner Lil's."

"Okay," she agreed. "Just don't snore I'm trying to study."

"Seriously Lily," I groaned. "If you don't know this information by now you're going to be screwed tomorrow anyways."

"It's for insurance purposes," she insisted. "Just keeping the information fresh in my head."

"Whatever you say crazy," I said as I flopped onto my bed and peeled off my robe and shoes. Marlene and I napped until Lily woke us for dinner. After dinner we immediately went upstairs and went to bed. When we awoke in the morning we showered and put on our robes and got ready for our tests.

"Ugh," Sirius groaned. "Is it to late to drop out?"

"I'm afraid so," I laughed interlocking my fingers through his. "You're almost done. You can make it, I promise."

"Very inspirational love," he said kissing my hand.

"Aren't I?" I said with a wink. I kissed him briefly then went off to find my seat for the History of Magic exam.

"That was bloody terrifying," Marlene groaned as she entered the Common Room after her Potions practical. "I nearly set the proctor on fire!"

"What kind of potion were you making?" I asked as she flopped onto the Common Room couch next to me.

"An anti-inflammatory potion," she mumbled.

"Marlene that's suppose to ensure people don't catch fire," I told her.

"I know that!" she snapped. "I must have stirred too much or forgot an ingredient."

"Well you're looking at jobs at the Daily Prophet aren't you?" I asked. "Who cares if you get a bum grade on your potions NEWT. It's not really necessary is it now."

"You're right," she admitted. "I'm just freaking out. It's probably all in my mind."

"Only a few more exams to go and then you're done Marls," I said reaching for her hand. "You can make it."

"Thanks Cass," she smiled. "I'm gonna head up to bed. Don't bother waking me for dinner, I'm not hungry."

"Okay if you say so," I called as she went up the stairs to the dormitory. Lily came up a short while later and joined Marlene as well. Even Ellie came up and went straight for bed. James, Remus, and Sirius all stumbled in 5 hours later.

"Where have you guys been? They exams ended hours ago," I asked looking at the clock.

"Just having a bit of fun love," Sirius laughed as he sat beside me. "Just a bit of fun."

"Sirius Black are you drunk?" I hissed as he threw his arm around my shoulders.

"Just high on life my dear," he smiled. I raised my eyebrow and looked to James and Remus.

"He's drunk," they chorused together. I groaned and rolled my eyes standing up.

"Make sure you get him a potion and some water or coffee," I instructed. "He still has two more exams tomorrow. Make sure he's sharp and alert."

"You got it commander," James joked. I shoved him and made my way upstairs for some sleep as well.

Hello? Anyone still there? For anyone who made it through the chapter I promise within the next two chapters I'll try to make it as interesting as possible. So have a Happy Easter and I hope that you all had a wonderful break or I hope you'll be having one soon! Kisses!

XOXO,
