LXVI
Schuldig
Struggling to catch her breath Arakawa just kept looking at the floor, she couldn't believe that she was still alive. For the time being she wasn't planning on letting go of the floor, oh she could not offer thanks to god for not having let her die and sure the woman had helped but even so. "Oh thank you, thank you." She kept repeating as she almost found herself kissing the floor, maybe it would be better if she stopped and tried to focus on what mattered.
Slumped against the wall the woman look at her, Diana still remained unconscious and right now Arakawa was wondering if it was really a good idea to keep dragging her along.
"What you just dropped, that was the vaccine right?" She coughed as she was just as exhausted after having pulled her up.
"Yeah." Arakawa grumbled in response, she was starting to feel terrible. "Everything that I had with regards to the virus and vaccine was in it, the vaccine was fully complete."
"THEN WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME OF THIS SOONER!?"
Well despite that being a reaction she kind of had been expecting it was not like she wanted to hear that at a time like this, besides it was not her fault that this woman was deaf beyond comprehension. "IT'S NOT LIKE I DIDN'T TRY IT EARLIER! YOU JUST REFUSED TO LISTEN TO WHAT I TOLD YOU!" Oh to think that woman had the nerve to try and put the blame of her, it was not her fault. "Anyway what are we going to do now? It is lost and there is no way for either of us to get to it anymore."
The woman turned her head. "Well in that case you would need to create it again right? You know enough about the vaccine to pull that off can you?"
"Nobody in the world knows more about it than I do but there is one little problem. My vaccine is based on the raw material the late professor Kakuzawa created, I do not know how to create the vaccine from scratch."
The professor had kept those details a close secret and did not share them with anyone, even having gone through the stuff he kept hidden she was still uncertain on how he had created the raw material on which her vaccine was based in the first place, it would be next to impossible to start all over if she had to do it in a hurry.
"I would have to redo the entire basic research again from start to finish, that is going to take time and I don't know if it will take me months or even years to do it but by then it will already be too late if virus is released into the world. We have-."
She stopped with talking as the sound of approaching footsteps caught their attention, it seemed they were no longer alone on this floor. Standing there at a distance was a pack of about a dozen diclonii and they were fully aware of them.
"Do not flatter yourself, humans. I am far from finished, just step into the light." Dreachon snarled as he eyed the woman and what remained of the guard. Still with his arm crushed beneath the debris and the armor stuck he was unable to free himself, however he was not without a means to strike back. Still left with a number of the daggers of which there was one already in his hand, waiting for one to make a false move he bided his time.
"You underestimate me, you have cost us dearly but now the roles are reversed. I will have you pay for all the misery you brought me, I fell from the chief's grace because of you!"
He chuckled at hearing that. "Then you are a fool to believe such a man can offer anything."
"How dare you!?" She sneered in response to his insult. "The chief is about to become a god."
Now he snarled at hearing that. "A human posing as god, how ridiculous." This human was so easy to goad into making a rash action, to even think that a mere human could ever get remotely close to being a divine being. It was an insult to him as humans did not know what it meant to be a god, this race only had the most crudest understanding of what godlike power meant. There were beings out there that would feed on the stars.
"Don't deny it! I guessed his foul purpose some time ago but it matters not. The chief's quest will fail. You are being used, you were only ever a means to an end. The coward has weighed the value of your life and found it worth… nothing." His voice rasped.
"No, no, no! No your lying!" Yamada shouted in defiance.
He chuckled in delight. "What did he promise you? A share of the power he would gain? As if it was his to give. Before this night ends this world will hear you scream, make your peace with the deity you choose to worship while you still can human."
Doing her best to restrain her rising anger it was taking all of her will not to step forward and bury her knife in his neck but if she were to do so she would be making a grave mistake. Unfortunately the same could not be said for one of the men who wasn't so smart as he moved closer to him, the crowbar he was carrying raised and poised to strike. "YOU FUCKING MON-!"
It were to be his last words as one quick strike saw his throat slashed wide open, grasping for the open wound the man dropped to the ground in desperation as he fought to draw breath. Yamada was all too quick to end his suffering when she grabbed a pistol and placed a single round in his head. "This is what happens when you get careless!" She snapped but by now the damage had already been done, the moral of the men was rapidly eroding.
"Madam!" A man shouted as he came up to her from behind. "We found this." Holding it up Yamada could clearly see that it had been the same monstrous blade that had killed so many men but now it was in their possession. "It would seem like you lost your weapon, how sad that must be. Tell me, what good exactly is a soldier without their weapon?"
Yet she was disappointed to see that the blade had snapped, only about half of it remained and yet despite that it was still longer than her own arm.
"Only a fool would entrust their life to a weapon, I do not old an attachment to a broken blade."
She felt rather insulted by his response, such an arrogant bastard he was proving to be if he still believed that he would remain to pose a threat to them. Even so perhaps it would be a good moment now to have him killed by what remained of the blade, ironic to fall upon one's own sword.
Even as she ordered the man to step forward and put an end to his presence their adversary started to laugh at her words.
"What are you laughing about?" She sneered in contempt as the man took the blade and took up his position. "Not even someone like you would laugh at their own funeral."
Dreachon grinned at her. "I am laughing… at yours." He got up suddenly as he twisted his own arm to the point of bones snapping but it was enough for him to get close enough and grab's the startled man's arm and as he lashed out with his leg the man's knee broke under the impact. As the men screamed and howled in agony his grip on the sword loosened and it was all too simple for him to wrestle it from the man.
"STOP HIM!" Yamada cried as men rushed forward but it was already too late.
Dreachon roared as he brought the broken blade up to his shoulder, although destroyed it would still have some strength left. Driving it upwards with his strength it sliced through armor and tissue without effort, in a shower of blood his body was freed.
"I have no fear of dying but I cannot die just yet, there is one thing I must still do." His voiced rasped. "Until that is done I will not falter… now come at me… if you are so willing to kill for such a foolish ideal… then surely you must be willing… to die for it!" The broken blade was rammed into the head of the closets man, impaling him it to a twisted steel girder.
Although dead the body went on with spasms while he twisted off the head of another guard.
"A warrior without a weapon…. is still a warrior… you won't get to ruin this world."
His body jerked back as a charging men swung at him with an axe, unable to avoid its swing it was buried deep in his shoulder. Just shrugging it off her crushed the man's head in his fist.
"JUST BRING HIM DOWN! THAT IS AN ORDER!" Yamada screamed and barked for what it was worth but those men with more common sense then her discarded their weapon and broke, this was no longer worth fighting over.
"Tell me human… do you have causes worth fighting for… reasons worth living for… ideals worth dying for?" He yanked the axe out of his shoulder, letting it fall to the grating with a loud metallic clang.
Her face contorted as she picked up the nearest weapon she could reach. "DON'T YOU DARE TO COMPARE YOURSELF TO ME, YOU'RE A NOTHING BUT A MONSTER! WHAT COULD AN ABOMINATION LIKE YOU POSSIBLY UNDERSTAND OF IDEALS OF HONOR!?"
"A few months ago… you would have been right… I do not fear death nor have I ever questioned it… but recently… I have found… a new reason to keep on living… a promise I want to uphold no matter what… let me honor you with the most brutal death…"
Enraged by his words she pressed the trigger, she felt the gun recoil as she emptied an entire clip and before she realized the gun felt silent. As she dropped it on the floor she reached out for the one other weapon that had not failed her yet, the combat knife back in her hand she readied herself for what was likely to come. "Come on then you monster! Show me what you got!"
"You won't stop me… but I shall cross blades with you." With the blade stuck in the girder he pulled out one of the daggers that were strapped to his upper thigh. "Let us find out… if you are… willing to die for your… delusional ideals... human… and die you shall."
Daggers drawn and ready they stood there as the ship was giving out its final death cries, the metal hull shrieked and buckled as the waves crashed into it.
"Time to end this you monster." Yamada sneered as she waited for him to make the first move.
Not saying a word Dreachon just nodded his head as he lunged out first.
"This is not good, we need to go now." She whispered as she slowly got up, Arakawa was cautioned not to make any sudden moves or noise. Anything that could cause the diclonii to attack was to be avoid.
"Here take Diana and give her an order, she seems to listen to you." She was already dropped in her arms before Arakawa could even react, any objection she made was waved aside.
"Wait… don't you still have bullets or something?" She whispered as she struggled with holding the girl and not letting her fall to the ground.
The crossbow already aimed the agent opened fire. "I used up most of those before I got to you, I never thought the institute would still hold so many of them. I don't have much left but we should go as far as we can right." Two diclonii were dropped to the ground instantly as the steel balls took them down, reaching out for more ammo she learned that she had just fired the last of it. "Shit…!" She cursed as she flung it towards the nearest threat but it wasn't to any surprise to see it getting crushed before it could strike. "I am out of steel balls and I have barely one clip left of the tungsten rounds. Right now is a real good time to wake up Diana."
This wasn't good, only a few had been dropped but there was still a large group and right now they were starting to move again, attracted by either the noise they had made or perhaps they had finally decided to get to gripes with their enemy. "You have got to be kidding me, I can't afford to die here. I am to important you know!"
Oh it was going to take a miracle for them to make it out of this alive.
She turned to the girl. "Hey wake up now, we really need you Diana-chan. Please help us like you did before! Diana-chan please!?"
No less than four diclonii were cut half the moment Diana opened her eyes, both Arakawa and the woman looked in amazement as it had happened so fast . They had been struggling with the few arrayed against them and this just took them down like they were nothing.
"Diana-chan, thank god your awake. Both of you stay close me to be." Holding her close the woman nodded as now was a good time to see what she could do. "Diana mow them down!"
The top halves of the nearest two simply disappeared as Diana attacked again with her vectors. Arakawa was amazed not to mention somewhat shocked to see just how dangerous this girl could be as one after another of the diclonii fell before her.
"Just keep going further, we can make it if we keep this up." Already having drawn her gun and loaded the last of the rounds the woman was besides her, ready to take care of any threat that Diana might miss. For the time it was working and they were making good progress.
"T-This is just incredible, this is going to be an easy win for us if this keeps on going like this. With her we can't lose to them, Diana-chan keep doing your best. If we get off this island I am going to treat you to something really good." Arakawa was feeling overjoyed as it looked like she was going to survive this hole nightmare after all, they were going to make it alright.
Still holding her it happened in the before she was even aware of it, her head was gone in an instant. With Her face covered in blood Arakawa fell to her knees. "DIANA-CHAN! NO NO NO NO NOOOOO!"
There was already a gun going off next to her but she found it difficult to waste any effort to it, she was crying over what had happened to poor Diana. Deep inside herself she learned that it was not because they had lost their way out but rather because the girl had died such a brutal death, she did not deserve that all and part of her began to understand what the boy had told her long ago. Not all diclonius were the same and they had feelings like any other person.
"W-Wh-Why…. why… her of all people… why poor Diana-chan?" She sobbed as the girl's lifeless body rested on the floor, it had all happened before she could have even reacted. She wondered if Diana had felt any pain in the last moments before she died?
Behind her the woman moved closer. "That was one of the defects from when Diana and the other clones were created by doctor Nousou, much like them certain clones that could endure pain easier were created but there were also those who exhibited a longer reach with their vectors." There was an awkward silence between the two of them.
She wondered if this researcher was having any remorse over the death of this dicloius, this clone. It felt odd to her that any of them could even show such feelings given to what they were doing to them here, perhaps it would be better to keep a closer eye on her.
"She got killed by one of those but luckily for us it was a rather weak one, I already took it down with a single shot." Her head turned up at the sound of more footsteps. "No way…"
Already more diclonii had gathered, likely attracted by some of the noise they had made.
"Pull yourself together now!" The woman snapped as she pulled Arakawa back up, as terrible as it was what had happened they did not have the time to mourn over the girl.
"You see that door on the left? You run towards it as fast as you can after I shoot the ones closest to it, don't stop for anything even if you hear me scream."
"Eh?" Barely having time to react she was grabbed by the arm after the first two shot and dragged through the door, her arm felt like it was going to be pulled off from her shoulder.
"COME ON DAMMIT!" The woman shouted as she dropped the gun, the magazine empty it was just more deadweight they couldn't use. "DON'T STOP FOR ANYTHING!"
"WAIT! WAIT!" Arakawa screamed as she tried to object being dragged further above. "WHERE THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE GOING!?"
The door ahead of her was flung open, her arm raised to protect herself against whatever lied in front. Much to her dismay they found themselves back on the roof, that was not where she wanted to be at all.
"WHAT WERE YOU THINKING ABOUT GOING TO THE ROOF!? THIS IS A USELESS ROUTE FOR AN ESCAPE! NOW WE ARE TRAPPED IF THEY COME FOR US!"
"They will certainly come if you keep shouting like that, now shut up for a moment." The woman cautioned her to keep the noise down, if they were being followed then they would get here soon enough but she was not willing to take any more risk. "There is a small lift on the other side that is used normally for cleaning, use it to get down." She pointed.
"But the power is out, it can't even move or can it?"
The woman smiled. "It can be used manually, don't worry yourself about that."
"How do you know all of this, normal people would not bother on knowing that?"
She grinned in response. "I did my homework before I even came to this island, never know when such information might be useful."
"Just who the hell are you, I want an answer now." Fists clenched she was getting impatient.
But before the woman was even given a chance to answer her the door blew from its hinges as a mass of diclonii came through the opening, they had been cornered.
Dai was still trembling over what had happened, the way that girl had looked at him meant nothing other than a slow and agonizing death. Even Kyou had scared him for a moment with the way she had started to talk about this supposed voice in her head.
His hands still shaking it was taking him some time to put it all into perspective.
This had been a close one he reminded himself as he looked at the girl lying there in the mud, he had not believed it but the proof was lying in front of him. Just losing one their horns was enough to cause for most diclonius to fall into a catatonic state, she no longer responded to any kind of stimuli. "Will she be alright, is there a chance for her to come out of this?"
"I-I don't know, I have only seen it happen once to one of our kind and that was Nyu-san. She could still move after having lost one of her horns."
"N-Nana-san… why did you do that… why did you do that to her?" Saeko cried as she stared at the motionless body, this was not how she wanted to see one of her sisters. It just wasn't fair that they had to fight amongst themselves.
"I'm sorry Saeko-san, I really am but she was not giving any other choice. She would have killed us all if we did not stop her, I can't let her get away with that." She had not wanted for it to turn out like this but she could not live with herself is she had allowed this girl to kill people, this girl bore such a resemblance to Mariko that it was unacceptable for Nana to let her tarnish what little good her papa had managed to recover right before he died.
"I won't let her do that to Mariko-chan! I won't let her ruin what papa died for!"
Dai was as confused as he could be, not knowing who they were talking about he was starting to question on what he was going to do now. Originally he had planned to find them both and bring them to Mako for the time being but now with this new girl things had changed.
They could let her remain her but that would be like a death sentence, she would die for certain if they left her here. Any hospital would be out of the question as well and he did not know if Mako even had the required medical knowledge to help her.
As he squatted down next to her body Saeko approached her as well, well it was already obvious what her opinion was going to be.
"Say bug, what do you want to do with this one? I don't like what she tried to do but if you are going to behave like a white coat you will be sorry." Kyou threatened him as she looked over his shoulder. "Don't make that mistake bug. You won't like it when I start disliking you."
He had to swallow at hearing her say that, damn she was actually threatening him. Great just what he needed to hear right before she was going to hop back into the car with him, for that matter how was he even going to explain that to Mako who was sitting back at home with the other sister about this little deranged one. "So I guess that means we are going to take her with us then? How am I going to explain this to the others? I don't know if I even have enough space left in the car for all of you."
Saeko rested her hand on his shoulder. "Don't worry Hirano-san… when master comes back he will know how to help her. Please help my sister, she was being used by them." She begged him and now there were already two of the girls making it clear that they were not going to leave without this one.
"I suppose that you want me to bring her along as well?" He waited for her to give her opinion but when she said it it was not what he had expected. It seemed that unlike the others Nana was not so found of bringing this girl with them, that was a bit different as until she had shared the opinion of the others that they needed.
"But Nana-san." Saeko objected to hearing that opinion. "She never meant to… I just know that she is a good person… doesn't she at least deserve a chance?"
"Onee-chan is right, or do you actually choose bugs over your own kind Nana-onee-chan?" Kyou eyed her as she stepped to put herself firmly in between Nana and the unconscious body of Barbara. "Do you really like the bugs so much that you would choose them over your own? To me that does sound rather sad, that is so disappointing of you Nana-onee-chan."
Nana was already gritting her teeth in response to her taunt. "You talk pretty big there."
"Enough both of you!" Dai shot up as he was not going to let this escalate any further. "Both of you have your reasons and both are valid, now please just listen to me. I don't want to leave her out here all on her own, god knows what the first person that come across her will do to her in this state." He stopped to get an idea of their reaction but so far it seemed that both were willing to listen to him.
"Please continue Hirano-san, I want to hear what you have to say." Saeko mentioned as she kneeled down and held the girl's head in her lap. "She would want to know as well."
"She does deserve to be brought somewhere better but she also poses a threat to others, she was willing to kill you all and god knows when she will wake up out of this coma of hers. As much as I want to help you girls I will not endanger the lives of other people just because you are having a soft spot for your own species." Already he could hear the noise coming from Kyou that she was not entirely happy with what he had just said.
"We will take her with us but until we can find a way to make sure that she won't be a threat to people she will need to be kept isolated. For that matter as well the two of you need to go back to your family as they are worried sick about you."
"I can't go back… I want to stay with my sister and make sure she will be fine." Saeko remarked as she was still caressing the girl's face. "Nana-san, why don't you go back to them and tell them. I will come soon to meet with you all, I promise."
"Fine then… just watch yourself." Nana relented as she finally gave in, perhaps it would best if this night were to come to an end, already there had been too much misery.
Dai smiled and breathed a sigh of relief as he escorted all of the girls back to his car, hopefully it would still be in good condition after the wild ride it had to endure. Still he was glad that he could tell Yuka that the girls were fine, it was one less worry to deal with. Yet there was one thing that gave him some reason for concern, Saeko's mention that her master would make things right. He had not heard anything from him nor from Bando ever since they had split up, what he going to tell them if it were to turn out that both of them had died then and there. Could they even forgive him for not having stayed with them even when both of them wanted him to go and help the girls.
Perhaps it was better if he kept silent for the time being until he had the chance and inspect the area, still it had been cordoned off for fear of radiation due to the unknown explosion.
"Say would any of you be in the mood for having something to eat, I take it neither of you two had anything to eat since you left the hospital?" He asked them as he reached out for his phone, if they were hungry then it would be best to warn either Mako or Yuka up front.
Seeing the look on their faces told him enough and even Kyou seemed to warm up to having something to eat, well guess that would mean there was going to be a detour then.
"Hey Mako-san it is me, I have found the girls but they seem to be pretty hungry, would you mind if I were to bring them over to your place?" He smiled as he heard her answer.
"GET INTO THE LIFT QUICKLY! WE DON'T HAVE ANYMORE TIME TO WASTE!" She wasted little time as she nearly shoved Arakawa into the small bucket, no time for her to act a bit more dignified.
"WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!? WHY ARE YOU NOT GETTING IN!?"
She was already standing next to the control panel. "Your already in it, that is good enough. Besides there is only enough room for one person and if I don't control the brake from up here, you will simply crash into the ground below and die."
"THEN WHAT… WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO THEN!?"
She turned. "There is no time to explain, just listen to me." Taken Arakawa's silence as her understanding what she had just asked. "This lift will take you all the way to the bottom, when you get there then you should go left. There is a helicopter waiting there, it is the one that I used to come to this island, it has an armed escort to make sure that it remains intact. Just get to them and they will take care of your escape."
"BUT WHAT ABOUT YOU THEN… DO WE NEED TO WAIT FOR YOU TO COME!?" Arakawa was starting to panic again, surely this crazy woman wouldn't be crazy enough to have them abandon her.
"You are the only one in the world that understands the vaccine right? That is the sole reason for why I cannot let you die here, your life means more than mine. You need to get back to the mainland and start redeveloping that vaccine again, if the chief's plan can't be stopped all of mankind will die."
"What are you saying?" She almost whispered as it was true what she had thought, how could one person be so foolish to think that one life meat more than another? She had to sigh in disbelief as it finally got through to her. "YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS!? THAT WOULD MAKE ME FEEL HORRIBLE! JUST GET YOUR ASS IN HERE!"
Even as she reached out with her hand the woman simply brushed it aside. "Then who is going to control the brake? You are the one who can save mankind if this all goes wrong, I can't do that but at the very least I can save your life." She smiled as she took of her glasses. "Don't feel bad about it, I'm counting on you to make sure that mankind will survive. So please take good care of yourself."
Tears were running down her face, to think that this woman was willing to give up her own life in order to save the life of a person who had helped in creating this nightmare.
In just about every conceivable way it felt wrong to her, she was the one who really deserved to die here for the mess she had helped to create. "WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!? ARE YOU STUPID!? PLEASE STOP BEING A BAKA!? She wanted to tell her what a complete fool she was but just as she opened her mouth her stomach felt like it was left above as the small lift plummeted towards the ground.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
She was panting, her body on the verge of collapse, a dozen cuts burned across her body. Pain flared through her as she kept her ground, her opponent was faring little better. Cuts were clear over where the armor was gone but even so there were only five of them left to face this abomination that had killed so many men already.
"You fight well monster but I don't intend to lose to you. I still have a job to do and you are not going to ruin my chances of getting back into favor with the chief!" She yelled.
The remaining men looked at her, standing their ground but showing the strain of this hellish encounter that had already consumed the lives of everybody else. Fear etched on their faces.
"And you're not fighting me at all otherwise this one-sided slaughter might have provided me with a sense of satisfaction. That's right, cower! Be terrified! Die, knowing that you lost to someone who truly understands the art of death! Not one of you of you will leave alive!"
He took a thunderous step forward, crushing the skull of man beneath his thread.
"I am injured, dying and yet your own incompetence does not permit you to even have a chance of killing me! I won't be stopped by the likes of you! All that I see before me are needless, cowering weaklings!" The ship itself seemed to crack and writhe in agony with each step that he made, the talons on his right hand still dripping with blood.
"Don't let that thing get to you!" Yamada spat in response. "We can still take it! It is dying, all we need to do is to make it bleed even more!" She gritted her teeth
"No way! It's fucking impossible! With all due respect madam but fuck that! There is no way that we can seriously go up against something like that anymore! One the men stated.
They were all close to breaking just like so many had before them. But to separate oneself and run away only resulted in a quick and gruesome death as no single person stood a chance against this abomination on their own, only their combined strength had any hope of taking their adversary down and with that escape with their lives.
"Wonderful words. But you see, just because I am weaker doesn't make you any stronger, does it!?" He laughed, mocking them as he got ever closer to them.
They all moved back a little further as this massive eight feet tall monster was closing the distance to them with every step it took. Worse still the amount of room that they had left to maneuver was getting dangerously low, unless they were to take immediate action they wouldn't be left with any space at all. Two of them nodded to each other, they both understood what had to be done and resigned themselves to their fate, these was other way.
As if on cue and without warning the two men made a daring charge forward, using their combined momentum they thrusted the metal rod forward. It's momentum drove it deep in his exposed abdomen, pushing him back for a single step. Looking at them he grinned with delight as he took in the palpable fear that was present on their faces.
"Commendable but in the end your effort is futile! You shall not be granted an drop of leniency!" He snarled as his remaining arm took the bar in an iron hold and rammed it deeper into his own flesh dragging the men closer towards him as well in the process.
They fought back in vain as they realized the predicament they suddenly found themselves in but it was too little too late as with one last violent tug they were dragged within his reach.
"Time to end this little game, humans!" He snarled, baring his fangs, twisting his visage into an even more terrifying shape as he reared back his right arm before it was plunged through the chest of the nearest man, the armored gauntlet breaking through bone and tissue alike.
It erupted from the man's back under the sound of bones cracking, sinews being torn before the talons wrapped themselves around the neck of the second man and snapped it like a twig.
Dreachon threw his head back, roaring in triumph as he tossed their remains aside as if they were nothing. Pulling out what remained of the rod it left a gaping hole though it did not seem to do anything to hinder him.
Fury and anger driving her Yamada launched herself forward as she seized the opportunity afforded by the death of these men. Ramming the knife deep into his exposed parts.
As it was driven hilt deep into his abdomen she fought to maintain her grip before she was swatted aside by him. Her face felt like she had been hit by a car. Her back as if it was broken.
Groaning and cursing as she landed on her back she spat at him. "Why won't you just die!?"
Dreachon grinned at hearing her question, staring at the knife it was sunk deep though it had not hit anything vital. "You are not trying hard enough, that said I commend you for your determination. So eager to fight on to the very end now are you, human?" He hissed in return.
"Madam, are you alright!?" The last two men that she had left asked of her as she struggled to get back on her feet, every part of her body protesting as she sought to keep on fighting. They had no other option than to keep on fighting as to give up here would only equal to death sentence itself.
Turning her head from left to right she searched frantically for another weapon that she could use, it didn't take her long to find one underneath the body of a death soldier, his fingers still clenched around the hilt. Breaking the man's fingers she grabbed the weapon, it appeared to be some kind of bayonet but that didn't matter to her.
His voice boomed through what remained of the cargo hold. "Only three of you remain here! There is only one way for you to proceed forward from here on! So tell me filthy humans, how do you choose to die!?"
