Disclaimer: Still don't own it
Mona cursed under her breath.
If she could, she would have screamed out loud in rage at the sudden appearance of the older detective.
Both she and Spencer watched as Wilden got out of his car and shined his light on the car that Alison was using. He took a picture of the license plate with his phone and then leaned against his car as it appeared that he sent the picture to Rosewood PD. He then waited and seemed to be watching the lone room of the motel that was occupied; as if he were waiting for something. His back was to the girls so they couldn't be seen but they were still close enough that they couldn't risk making a noise. It was then that both teens realized that if they did make a noise, they were almost very exposed and almost out in the open. Thus if he shined his light towards them, they would very well be seen. They had to fight the instinct to move back into the shadows given that there were a number of twigs that would break if they made one wrong step; which would draw the older man's attention.
Mona still couldn't believe that the man was here in the first place; wondering on how he even found out that Alison had come here. Granted that the man wasn't completely incompetent but there was no way he had the skill to deduce where the blonde had fled. The only thing that came to mind was that either Wilden had concluded that she would flee the dance ahead of time and knew about her visits to the Lost Woods Resort; or he somehow managed to track her here. As an officer in the Rosewood Police Department, he would be able to have access to resources that could track the blonde. She was mentally kicking herself for not even thinking that Alison could be tracked by someone other than herself; her arrogance coming back to haunt her. She now wondered if Wilden had been tracking the blonde all along and maybe even suspected her as well as Spencer for doing the same thing. She doubted it though since the older man would have either brought her in already or demanded to know what she knew.
Spencer found it interesting that Wilden was here alone in the first place and not with an escort; which should be protocol. Granted, Alison was not that physically threatening and that could be handled quite easily if she ended up being arrested but it was still strange. Looking over at her friend, Spencer was surprised that the shorter teen was just as lost as she was on what to do; which showed how unprepared they were for something like this. It was tempting to just call it a night given the incredibly bad luck they had encountered; though she just couldn't bring herself to call it quits. They had come too far tonight and every effort had gone into preparing their grand plan; refusing to concede that things couldn't be salvaged. There just was too much risk that the blonde would get away with everything despite how bad it looked that she ran in the first place; which helped their cause. Alison had to die tonight; it just had to be.
After another minute, Wilden left his vehicle and headed to the manager's office.
"So now what do we do?" Spencer almost demanded to know while still keeping her voice quiet in the darkness. In her opinion, the whole situation was starting to get ridiculous and would have been funny if it wasn't so serious.
"We proceed with caution; though we might need to knock Wilden out somehow. I got some chloroform in my bag so we can use that," answered the teen as she moved about to see what was going on. She had been watching the window and it looked like Alison had yet to peek outside the window.
"You want to knock out a police officer; he has a gun," Spencer reminded her friend with heavy skepticism in her voice. Given the new circumstances, she was tempted to just cut and run; wanting to deal with the consequences later.
"Who isn't expecting us and just a blonde that he expects to subdue; we can still do this since the element of surprise is on our side," Mona argued to her friend in an effort to reassure her. As much as she understood Spencer's doubt, she believed they still had a good chance to accomplish their goal tonight.
"So I am guess your plan is to knock out Wilden and move on Alison?" inquired the taller teen with a heavy sigh. This whole thing was getting more complicated but she also wanted to put an end to all this.
"Exactly; we then strip the guy and steal his car to make it look like Alison had a partner that helped her escape. It would then add credence that she is guilty of running and would have a new charge against her; like assaulting a cop," reasoned the other teen as she took a few steps to check out the detective's car. It would be quite easy to hotwire the thing and dump it somewhere; even hock it in the city.
"That could work; this is turning into a bigger hassle than we planned," stated Spencer with another heavy sigh. It was going to be troublesome to try and lie to her family on where they have been the last few hours.
"But the reward is going to be worth it my friend. There is always risk in what we want and we just have to adapt," Mona assured the other teen again in a soft tone. Truthfully, the teen was also trying to reassure herself since she had doubt in her head on all this as well.
"So who do we tackle first; Alison or Wilden?" asked the taller teen out loud as she sneaked to the lit window see if she could see inside. It was covered however and there wasn't a single sound emanating from inside.
"We'll see what Alison is up to before we make a move. I don't want any more surprises since she could have her own friends on the way; if there are any left," answered Mona as she went over to the blonde's car to see if there was anything there that was relevant. She wasn't surprised though at seeing that the car was completely empty inside and might have been a rental; not seeing the vehicle before in the DiLaurentis possession.
Mona then went over to the room to the right of Alison's, pulling a set of keys out of her pocket and using one to open the door. Motioning for Spencer to follow her inside, the teen closed the door behind them and left the lights off; not wanting to draw attention. She then went over to one of the pictures on the wall and pulled it off; light shining through two holes. Taking a peek inside, the room appeared to be empty until she heard the faint sounds of the bathroom fan being on as well as the shower running. The bed had a duffle bag on it which matched the same one that they had seen Alison running with and there were a few more things; one being an overtly large purse. It seemed that they had truly found the blonde and it was tempting to simple sneak into the room and catch the blonde by surprise. However with Wilden out and about, it was better to deal with him first.
Spencer looked around the room and her opinion of the place went down any further. The walls were an ugly beige with some serious peeling of paint as well as stains. The red carpet, though appeared clean, had a crusty feel to it and the teen would never want to go barefoot in; wondering if Mona ever did. There was a queen-sized bed facing the door and a modern flat screen was on a brown oak stand next to it; the television being a brand that Spencer had never even heard of. There were a few tall lamps spread throughout the room and the teen noted that there didn't seem to be an overhead light of any kind; which was rather unusual since there was a ceiling fan. The room had a clean smell to it but it was almost an nauseating odor as if it were trying to mask something that had happened in the room before; which Spencer did not want to even imagine. There were a few tacky paintings on the walls, cheap art that one could buy at a grocery store and there was a modern phone on a desk next to the bed.
"I am finding it hard to believe that you set up a lair in here," the taller teen commented as she tried but failed to imagine this room as a command center for the A Game. It was hard to even see anyone staying here unless they were dead broke and couldn't afford a descent place.
"I am quite the decorator though Lucas thought that I had too many of my dolls here. I used to line them up like gargoyles and play with them when I wasn't busy," informed Mona as she smiled at the memory. She was again happy that her dolls had been salvaged from the former lair since she had brought many of them from home.
"What is she doing?" Spencer asked as she joined the shorter teen at the makeshift peephole; something that Mona had created in the past. She had used this room to spy on Alison on many occasions and had found it satisfying that it had been used as her lair at one time.
"Taking a shower; I'd say we go in now but that would only draw Wilden's attention since he is somewhere on the premises. I think we do need to deal with him first before we move onto our blonde friend," advised the shorter teen as she pulled away from the wall and hung the picture back up. Since she knew this place like the back of her hand, Mona could easily get around the place without being seen.
"We'll have to hit him fast; the guy is a lot larger than us and carrying a gun. The last thing we need to do is get into a gun fight with the guy," stated the other teen with a frown. She almost wished she had brought her father's gun from home in case they needed it.
"There are more than enough hiding places around here to stick him until he wakes up; We will have to just make sure we cover all our bases until then," Mona told her friend as she took out her phone to see if she could get into Wilden's phone from here. Her device had an app that allowed her to get into all cell phones in the immediate area; though it took a minute for it to scan and link up.
From what she could tell, Wilden seemed to be in the manager's office not too far from where they were located. The signal of his phone was stationary and she took that as a sign that the manager, a perverted man, was giving the cop the runaround. From her own dealings with the man, she knew full well that he was far more scared of the blonde than the Detective; which was understandable. Alison, like Mona, had evidence that the man liked to tape his clients in their rooms and stored the tapes in a private safe in his office; which the shorter teen knew how to get into. Somehow, Alison managed to get a few of them as well as all the ones that were of her and various older guys she had been with; like Ian. Mona also had a few copies of those tapes, though she had gotten them from the manager himself; having paid for them rather than threaten him. She actually had a good relationship with the older man despite his extreme shadiness; with him having rented her the room for her lair at a discount price.
It occurred to her that she was unsure whether to confront the manager before her little strike on Wilden or leave him out of it. As far as she was concerned, the man was as untrustworthy as they come and there was no doubt in her mind that he would sell Mona out in a heartbeat; which he might be doing to Alison right now. There was even a good chance that the cop had known about the manager for some time and had been tipped off to the blonde's presence; which was a possibility that Wilden was pretty corrupt himself. If Mona and Spencer were successful in neutralizing the older man for a few hours, no doubt the cop would go all out to find those who had prevented him from acquiring his prey; starting with the pervert. If he helped the two teens then there was no doubt he would wilt under a police interrogation; which would then implicate them. There was a chance that Mona might talk Wilden out of arresting them for assaulting him and informing him that Alison was dealt with; but that would put them under his thrall and they couldn't have that no matter if Alison was their mutual enemy.
"I think we may need to draw Wilden out so we can remove him from the game for a few hours; also quiet as well. The last thing we need is to include any more people in our quest to take out Alison once and for all," Mona put forth with conviction; wanting to wrap this up soon. If it took any longer than Wilden might call for reinforcements like Garret Reynolds; who also had a grudge against the blonde and was a friend of Jenna's.
"Maybe we should contact him as Alison; faking that she just wants to talk out back in the woods. Then when he comes, we get the jump on him and knock him out with chloroform or even use the Taser in our bags," Spencer proposed as she took a peak outside the room. So far, it was just them with no one else coming to join in.
"That might work; I just happen to know the place," stated the shorter teen with a smile. She had first found the clearing when she had followed Alison here for the first time; the blonde meeting some senior from their school who was a few years older than she.
"I"ll head back to the car since I think we might need some more tape in case we have to tie up Wilden for a while; will you be fine on your own for a few minutes?" asked the other teen as she took a quick peek outside the door. Spencer wanted to make sure the coast was clear before proceeding back to where they parked.
"I'll be fine; I will just go scout out the place where we can keep our cop friend just in case there was some renovation since my last visit," Mona informed her friend as she checked her phone in case the detective had moved. His position was still situated in the manager's office and she hope he would stay there until they were ready to lure him out.
Spencer then slipped out of the room without a sound; which impressed her girlfriend.
After giving her friend a head start, Mona quietly made her way to the door, taking a quick peak to see if Alison had emerged. In the back of her mind, there was a general suspicion that the blonde was taking an unusual amount of time in the shower; which should have set off alarm bells in her head. However, the teen paid them no heed at the giddiness she was feeling right now since they were a hair away from total victory of their enemy. She even began humming to herself as she moved stepped out of the room and quietly closed the door behind her; still somewhat alert to what was going on around her. It was still outside and the light from the lodge illuminated the hallway she was in; though she lingered and made no effort to get back into the shadows. From her position, there was no threat so the teen casually made her way to her destination which was in the back area of the lodge; an old tool shed that was not really used anymore but still stood out of the way.
As expected, the shed was still standing and it appeared not to have been touched since her last visit to the place. It was a cheaply made building that was designed to hold nothing but tools and other garden accessories; though still large enough for several people to move around inside. The walls of the small building were wood and supposed to be a pure white but years of neglect had left it rotted; which was evident from looking at it. It had a cement foundation so there was no way to move it with a ramp that allowed for a wheeled tool to move out of easily; though it never really held one from what Mona remembered. The roof was also rotted and half the shingles were gone from it; having eroded from the weather abuse the shed had endured over the years of neglect; no doubt offering zero protection when it rained. Mona was almost feeling guilty at the thought of having Wilden be trapped in the place for a while; especially given the bugs that had to have made the shed their home.
The teen was about to explore the shed when she felt a gun poke at her backside.
