Disclaimer: Still don't own it
It was still surprising when one thought about it.
As Mona and Spencer dragged Alison through the dirt to their car, each was still in shock on what just happened.
It was tempting to just leave the teen right there along with Wilden and make their way back to the vehicle before the police arrived. Given that they were still pretty close to the lodge, the loud shots had to have drawn the attention of the manager; who was expected to have called the authorities so leaving quickly was advisable. Even though both teens were in a state of disbelief on what had just happened, they still wanted to at least go through the last part of the plan given all the effort that had gone into it; not wanting to admit that it had all gone to Hell. Neither of the girls was speaking to one another and all the communication between them was more of subtle motions; which worked well since they were practically sewn at the hip now. It was a testament to their relationship that they could not be on the same page when it came to situations like this and hoped it would grow stronger down the line.
Each teen was almost glad that they didn't have to be the one that had murdered Alison; though Spencer had more of a doubt in doing the deed than Mona. As the promised day had approach, both Mona and Spencer had built themselves up in preparation for when it came time to kill Alison; even factoring in that they might have to do it if the other didn't want to. While Mona had complete trust that her girlfriend would be able to accomplish the deed without hesitation, she was ready to step in just in case Spencer hesitated; which was understandable given her history with the blonde. At one time Spencer and Alison had been friends; even though it was more of a group with a dictator leading it. Through the blonde, the taller had managed to have real friends for a while; Spencer never really having any close associates before being a part of Alison's group. Mona was slightly disappointed that she would never know for sure that her girlfriend would do it and might even be curious if she herself could have done it.
While Spencer started dragging Alison away from the crime scene, Mona went to work it hiding the fact that they had been there. She had seen enough crime shows and read books on the subject that she knew what to do to make it appear that something else had happened. After wiping out all of her and Spencer's footprints, happy that the ground was full of leaves as well as dry grass, Mona left the gun that Alison used not too far way and was happy that the blonde's fingerprints were all over it; even making sure that there were a few hairs next to the gun to prove Alison had been there. The plan was to have it appear that Alison had ambushed Wilden, killed him, and then fled the scene. The shorter teen had even holstered the detective's gun in order to make it appear that he had been killed in cold blood. This way, the police would be completely committed to the fact that Alison was guilty for a barrage of crimes that her family would have no way to deny; helped by the fact that Alison really did murder the man.
Once the scene had been completely taken care of, the girls hauled their nemesis back to their car and placed her in the truck; carefully of course.
"I am disappointed that it ended up like this," Mona admitted to her girlfriend as they got back into the car. Neither teen had yet to hear sirens but they were still a bit a ways away; though the cops would be here soon for sure.
"I know; I am sorry that she died like that and that we weren't able to do the deed. It is kind of funny though if you think about it," Spencer commented as her friend slowly made their way down the dirt road. It was risky to use the vehicle to transport the body and Mona planned to dispose of it as soon as possible; or at least give the tires a good hosing.
"I suppose it is; though it would have been more interesting if she had died the same way that she had killed Bethany. Apparently she had been responsible for murdering Toby's mother," informed the shorter teen as the car stopped; Mona hiding in the darkness as a few police cars stormed past. Spencer was once again caught off guard for the night and turned to give her friend a puzzled expression.
"Why did Bethany kill Toby's mother?" the passenger asked with a tone of disbelief in her voice. To say that information was relevant was an understatement to say the least given that particular fact had never come up.
"I don't know; Alison never said and all she said was that Bethany was trying to go after her mother that night. My only thought was that Bethany was angry that her father was seeing Jessica and was crazy enough to try and do something about it. Thus, Charlotte found out and she and Alison intercepted Bethany, killed her, then buried her under the gazebo in order to hid the deed," Mona concluded; thinking about it for the last hour. Spencer nodded since it made sense to her; though they couldn't know for sure.
"Why hide it though? Alison could have easily gotten out of that given that Bethany was crazy," Spencer put forth in an attempt to fill in the gaps. It would have been trivial for the blonde to make it appear that she had simply defended herself.
"But that would raise a great deal of questions that would embarrass the DiLaurentis Family; starting with Charlotte and Jessica's affair. Alison would have wanted that kept quiet more than anything," answered Mona as she pulled out onto the road though she planned to take another side road to get to their destination. The teen knew every route possible in order to get to the dump site without being detected.
"That makes sense; I still feel there is a lot more to the story though," commented the taller teen as her friend pulled onto a small dirt road after driving a few miles. It was in the general direction of the city so she concluded that Mona was taking an alternate route to avoid the cops as well as other potential witnesses.
"Definitely; I want to know how Toby's mother died and what led to it be ruled a suicide if she really was murdered. I think we might want to avoid hanging our hats up for a while until we know the truth," advised the driver as she slowed down as the flashing of police lights appeared at the right of their vehicle. They were running parallel to the highway so it was expected that the police would be near them at certain parts of their drive.
"Maybe we should try another go at Radley when things calm down; should we tell Toby though? I think he has the right to know that Bethany killed his mother," inquired Spencer as she thought about it. She fully felt that the young man more than deserved to know how his mother died as well as the fact that it had been covered up.
"When we know the full truth; though we might be able to use him as a catalyst to uncover things a lot easier. I remember Marion Cavanaugh fairly well and how she was rather close to her son so I can see him causing an incident in order to get close to the truth. We might also get lucky through the media coverage that is bound to happen because of tonight so some lucky reporter might do our job for us," reasoned Mona as she pulled onto the main highway for a few more miles. There was another turnoff not too far down the road which would take the teens to their destination rather quickly.
"Well I guess we got lucky that Alison had decided to pull that trigger and make herself a murderer without us having to stage the scene to make it look like she did it," Spencer commented with a slight trace of irony in her voice. Then again, Alison had made things easier for them in regards to her habits as well as her attitudes; forcing the girls to not even break a sweat at times.
"I am still in shock that she did it; I now wonder which if it was her that hit Bethany with whatever blunt object had been used or if it had been Charlotte," stated the shorter teen with genuine curiosity. While she could see her former nemesis doing a lot of things, physical assaults were not really her style; instead, relying on others to do her dirty work for her.
"Alison can go nuts if you push her hard enough; if Charlotte had tipped her off ahead of time, I could easily see her hitting Bethany," the other teen responded as a familiar memory was recalled in her mind. She remembered the furious look on the blonde's face when Spencer had first stood up to her; even watching as Alison destroyed her purse in a fit of rage.
Mona stayed silent at that and made the turnoff onto a back road that led to the construction site after a few miles. They had been gone from the dance for almost two hours now and both teens had no doubt that there would be much to answer for by their parents; prompting them to come up with possible excuses. Given the coincidence of events surrounding the blackout and Alison's mysterious disappearance, no one would believe that they just happened to leave the dance at the same time all of this was going down without it being connected. Both knew that they would more than likely be speaking to the cops about their whereabouts when it came down to it; especially since there was a dead police officer involved. Despite him being a corrupt cop and would probably come out as such when the media got a hold of the story, doing their own intense digging, Wilden was still one of their own. Mona and Spencer were at least happy that there was literally no trace evidence linking them to the actual shooting; especially with their vehicle being so far from the crime scene itself. They had even gone through the trouble of covering their tracks as the two moved Alison's body; or at least they hoped they did since it had been hard to see in the darkness even with their night goggles.
It took another ten minutes for them to arrive at the site; stopping at the perimeter where there was a gap in the fence line. Mona had paid a visit earlier in the day to make sure things were still favorable for their body dump; even removing a part of the fence herself though she made it look like it was natural damage. They got out of the car and went immediately to the trunk where Alison's body lay; wrapped in a tarp so that there would be no trace in her in case the police decided to check out the car. While she was taking a risk with her tires, Mona was hoping that the fact that all the dirt was similar in Rosewood would play in her favor. The night sky was actually turning ugly with a sudden cloud cover and the air started to smell wet; thus there was a major chance that it might just rain. If it did for the entire area, then maybe it would further help cover up all evidence that the teens might have missed in their attempt to cover their tracks. After taking the blonde from the car, they each carried end of the blonde to a large metal barrel that lay not too far away; next to a bunch of chemicals that Mona had bought weeks in advance.
When discussing their plan to bury Alison on the site under the cement foundation that was to be placed, it was decided that they needed to hedge their bets in case it was ever dug up. Mona then looked into the idea of instead burying Alison in just the tarp; they would place her in a container and fill it with chemicals that would dissolve the blonde's body until it was fully destroyed; or at least damage the body enough to where they couldn't identify the corpse. Spencer, through her friend's special laptop, had researched what chemicals were exactly needed for the task and found that all happened to be on the construction site itself. This allowed the teens to use the local resources without arousing suspicion from the authorities in case they looked at the teens in any way. While Mona wasn't completely concerned that the cops would discover their little extracurricular activities but it paid to be careful given the seriousness of the situation. When visiting the site earlier, Mona had managed to find an empty metal barrel and the chemicals needed; hiding them near the arrival site.
After rolling the barrel to where they were located, the teens tossed the dead blonde into it as if it were a sack of trash. The tarp they were using was of a real cheap kind and would also dissolve over time; even mixing with the remains to cause investigators more confusion if discovered. It was a little heartless in dumping Alison like that, given that she had been a real person at one time, but the teens didn't care. All what was on their minds was the negative history they had with her as well as the fact that they were glad she was gone. They casually poured the chemicals into the barrel until the corpse was completely covered and then covered the barrel with the metal lip; making sure that it was completely sealed. The barrel itself was not of a cheap make and while rusted, it was meant to hold dangerous substances so the lid did not have to be sealed with any major tool; snapping on quite easily. They then gently place the container on its side and each pushed it slowly in order not to pop the seal and release the body. It was only a little ways to the hole and Mona looked out for any possible witnesses in case the place wasn't as deserted as they thought; though it did seem to be devoid of life. They were fortunate that there were no lights or cameras where they needed to go so any evidence of them being there was simply not there; for the most part anyways.
"Should we say anything?" Spencer asked her friend as they put the barrel into the manmade hole next to the partial concrete slab being constructed. It had been a slight challenge to get the barrel past the rebar but they managed to do it; though they had to put the metal objects back the way they were.
"Like what?" Mona asked back casually as she walked over to the cement mixer and placed some mix into it. She only did enough for the hole that needed to be filled and was glad that there was to be no activity tomorrow since it was a holiday; even going as far as to falsify the records that it had been done.
"I don't know; I just feel like we should at least say something to Alison before we bury her for good," stated the taller teen as she stood over the hole. While there was a conflict of emotions going through her mind right now, none of them was guilt and sorrow of any kind; even if the blonde had once been her friend.
"Bye bitch; no one will ever find you," stated the other teen callously as she poured the cement into the hole and even smirked as it filled. Knowing the fact that the blonde was finally gone for good and would never trouble them again filled Mona with elation; even lifting a heavy burden from her heart.
"That works," Spencer said with a shrug of her shoulder and giving the filled hole a little smirk of her own. When the new part of the cement slab was done, she helped Mona put the finishing touches on it in order to make it match the rest of it so no one would be the wiser.
It took a little while for them to clean up but after they were done, the area would show no sign of their visit. Since the construction site was using a fast drying cement mix for the construction, even if the crew showed up tomorrow there would be nothing suspicious. Walking back to the car, the two teens changed back into their dance clothing and disposed of their A attire not too far away; where they could come back for it later. Once they were fully dressed, they headed back to Rosewood, making sure to take the same alternate route in order to make sure they were not traced back to the construction site. By that time, it had just started to rain and pretty soon it was pouring; though only in their immediate area. There hadn't been a cloud in the sky near the construction site so it would take a little time for the rain to move that way; by which time the cement had dried. The rain would help however disguise their tire tracks as they moved along the dirt and gravel roads; helping them further cover up their activities for the night.
"I can't believe that we did it; I think we can make it back without having to come up with a good story," Mona said happily as she turned onto the main road going towards Rosewood; planning to move onto another road a few miles away.
Their luck changed though when their front tire went over something sharp and became flat.
