Opferung

She was looking at the man as he lay there, his left arm sliced off at the shoulder. "That stupid woman…" She hissed in contempt, her voice betraying nothing but loathing and contempt. "Trapped by her own foolish emotions and nearly losing her life because of it, how disgusting."

Clutching his shoulder the man looked up in fear, his arm still with the weapon stock clutched in his hand lay there. "YOU… WHAT KIND OF ABOMINATION ARE YOU!? WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO BE!?" His breathing was getting heavier as the loss of blood only got worse. "YOU HORNED FREAKS ARE JUST LIKE THIS… NOTHING MORE THAN TWO-FACED ABOMINATIONS… YOU ARE AFTER ALL A MONSTER WITHOUT A FUTURE!"

She laughed at him. "You honestly think that your diseased species has more right than us? As if you vermin are you stable, just look at this world that you are poisoning." Her arms raise she taunted for him to look around. "You humans are as funny in your denial as you are annoying, it is time for your reign to end and to let my reign begin… I just need to wipe you all out first. Stay still otherwise it is going to hurt a lot more."

Even if he had only heard her voice for a short time even the soldier could already tell there was a clear difference between the tone of the voice she was using now and the one she had used when she had run into them, to him it almost felt like he was talking to an entirely different person. Even the eyes were starting to creep him out, they looked so devoid of any emotions, perhaps even life. what the hell was this thing that he was looking at.

"Now little human, time to become very scared as you will die. Just let out a little scream as I am going to pull you limb from limb." She chuckled as she took a step forward when all of a sudden her body started to shudder and came to a halt.

"Stop! This is enough! Get away from him and leave me alone! I don't need you anymore!"

"So this is your doing huh? Well then you should go ahead and face the consequences for you foolishness."

Dropping to the cold steel floor Kaede was overcome with a headache the likes of which she had experienced only a few times before, supporting her face with her hands she could already feel something warm and wet against her left hand.

"Ugh… no…?" She gasped as after pulling back her hand she saw the blood on it. "What… what has happened? Hearing the crying of the man she looked in his direction and what she saw was enough to make her feel sick with guilt, her stomach turned at the stench.

"No… nononono…" She cried as a terrifying realization sunk in with her. "I-It can't be? I-I-I couldn't…" Surprised and in fear she got back on her feet and started to slowly back away, this wasn't possible, she had wanted for this to happen.

"Holy shit!" One of the men cursed as they came around the corner and saw their comrade lying there writhing on the floor. "That fucking horned wretch did this to him!"

Kouta could see it as well, blood was splattered all over the place and just lying there was the wounded man, his arm either cleanly sliced or torn off from the shoulder. His face was getting even paler than it already was; he was going to vomit if he kept further looking. And further across he could clearly she her standing there, her eyes red from the tears and fear etched all across her face. He was at a loss for words after having seen this, she had promised him.

"Kaede!?" He yelled much to the surprise of not only the two other men but himself as well. "How could you… what have you done? You… even in the end… you just couldn't stop killing could you?"

"YOU'VE GOT IT ALL WRONG KOUTA! IT WASN'T ME! I SWEAR THAT I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING, PLEASE YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE ME!" Was her response but he didn't want to hear any more of it, already she had broken her promise. He felt like an idiot for having so foolishly believed her in the first place. "I thought that you wanted this life?"

"What the fuck are you talking about!?" The nearest man grabbed and lifted him by the collar. "Do you know this fucking freak!?" Barking the man tossed him on the floor as he unslung his gun. "You bastard are all going to pay for this! I am going to fucking ki-!"

"GET AWAY FROM HIM!" Kaede cried as she reached out for the man, she could not allow them to harm Kouta. With blinding speed her vectors grabbed both of the men and hurled them down the stairs, she didn't want to cause any more deaths but they needed to go.

As they tumbled down further their wounded comrade was dragged along with them.

"To think that I foolishly believed that we could live together…" He coughed as he grabbed the railing, he could feel that his body was about to give. "Telling myself that I should believe you… to give you the benefit of the doubt… that you meant your apology."

As their eyes met he wasn't sure what to make of it, her eyes said nothing other than pain and yet the proof to the contradictory was lying there. "You just betrayed me just so easily…"

"NO PLEASE KOUTA!? THAT ISN'T HOW IT HAPPENED… I-I… WAS TRYING TO PROTECT OUR PROMISE… EVEN IF IT WHERE TO MEAN FOR ME TO DIE I WOULD-!"

Kouta violently interrupted her, how could she even try to make an excuse. How did she even dare to mention their promise again after what she had done. "THEN WHAT THE HELL IS THIS!? EXPLAIN THAT TO ME IF THAT IS THE CASE!" He yelled as he pointed towards the severed arm still lying there, how could she be in denial with that lying there.

"I…I…I…" She kept on mumbling but other words couldn't come past her lips, left without an answer she just kept weeping as her biggest fear started to overcome her. Slowly she dared to approach him but a quick sneer from him told her to keep her distance

"If you can't explain that to me then don't even dare to come closer to me… you are only capable of hurting or killing people with such indiscrimination… how could you…"

Trying to fight back her tears she couldn't even bring herself to look at him anymore. "N-No… please, you got it all wrong Kouta! I-I don't understand it either… why did things have to come down like this? I-I want to be a good girl! I really wanted to be with you! Please you have to… believe me…"

Shaking his head Kouta wasn't sure how much longer he would be able to keep this up, his body was getting weaker and now he had this to content with. "To think I was so stupid, so incredibly stupid despite so many others having warned me of you, stupid enough to believe in you. I… I HATE YOU! DON'T YOU EVER DARE TO SHOW YOUR FACE TO ME AGAIN! I DON'T EVER WANT TO SEE YOU AGAIN!"

To Kaede it was the cruelest thing that she had ever heard, plenty of people in the past had said it but to hear it from Kouta. The man she worshipped and loved was beyond cruel, this had to be some kind of twisted joke, it couldn't be that he actually meant those words.

Her eyes wide she dared to look him back in the eyes but all they were telling her was that he had meant every single word of what he had said to her.

"I told you, didn't I? He finally said those words I have been warning you about, didn't he?" No it was all a lie, he could not mean those words, it simply couldn't be real. "There is no more place for you to live amongst the humans, they will eventually betray you like he did. Just look at him, he promised so much and now just like that he finally shows his true colors."

No he didn't, it was his fault to begin with, if she hadn't used her powers then this would have never happened. "If I hadn't use our power then the both of us would have died, there is no need to blame yourself for the wounding of a mere human… they are only humans after all…"

But Kaede did blame herself, she blamed herself for being so foolish, for being so weak, so dumb to have not realized it sooner. "Keep blaming yourself like that if it helps you deal with it but as long as this human world doesn't change. For that reason and for that reason only we must increase our numbers in order to survive." The one who had been her real enemy

all this time, the one who stood at the root of all of her suffering, for so long this enemy had caused all of her misery. "My other naïve self. Stop resisting and spread our DNA throughout the world. You will not defy my will! I will not let you!"

"No!" Kaede cried out startling not only herself but Kouta as well as he still stood there. "You're the one who attacked that man! It was you wasn't it?" She yelled against her herself. "So you want to break our promise? I will make you regret that if you dare to oppose me! Don't dare to forget your place!"

"My real enemy… has never been humans… it has always been… inside of my head… you are the one who caused all my suffering… you lied to me… you twisted everything to goad me into following you!" Kaede sneered. It had been the one who stood at the root of all of her sorrow, the one who had first set everything into motion and the one who had constantly lied and deceived her throughout her life. Every chance she had in life to return back to normal was ruined the moment she allowed the voice to tell her otherwise with its poisoned words.

"It is already too late for you, time to pay for your insolence…"

Was it a threat or a warning, Kaede didn't know but suddenly she could feel how her body was jerked hard to the right as something or somebody grabbed a hold of her, just snapping out of her thoughts she opened her eyes just in time to see Kouta getting shot in the back. She could hear him spasm in pain as the bullet went right through his chest.

Painful memories of a distant past flashed by her as she was reminded on how it had happened to that girl, the first human she had tried to befriend after what had happened to Kouta's family. No this couldn't end the same way, the previous fear of what he had said was now completely replaced with the fear of losing him forever.

"KOUTA!" She cried out to him as he fell to the floor. "KOUTA! PLEASE NO! HANG IN THERE! DON'T DIE ON ME! PULL YOURSELF TOGETHER! KOUTA!? WHY!? WHY DID DO YOU SUCH A STUPID THING!? I THOUGHT YOU HATED ME…!?"

His breathing was irregular, his body going into convulsion. His skin was even paler than before, his eyes had turned dull. "…EVEN THOUGH YOU SAID YOU HATED ME SO MUCH THAN YOU NEVER WANETD TO SEE ME! THEN WHY DID YOU…!?" She wept as it was all that she could do, she didn't know what else. Before there might have been a chance for him to get back to the hospital but now it was over for him. He was going to die, the man she loved more than anything in her life was dying and it was all because of her.

Even with him in pain she could see that he did his best to fake a smile. "Because I hurt Kanae-chan… when I told her that I hated her… I was being selfish… and I made her mad."

As he coughed she could see the blood coming from his mouth. "No matter how much I regret that… I… nearly made that same mistake again… she died without ever… hearing me say that I was sorry… if you died like this… I would regret it as well…"

"B-But you saw him pointing the gun, that's why…" Kaede cried as he was lying there in her arms. "I do not deserve to live at the expense of your own life… you have all of the others to take care of… Kouta… Kouta… I…I…" She sobbed as she tried in vain to gather the nerve to tell him that she loved him, it might be the only chance she was ever going to get.

"… Don't worry silly, you are just like Nyu-chan always worrying about me. I will be fine trust me. I've been shot a lot lately and I have survived, I will survive this as well…" His coughing told her that he was not fine at all, his breathing was starting to get weak and that horrible memory of hearing that the girl who had given her life to safe Kaede's had died was starting to haunt her again, she did not want to go through that ever again. She never ever wanted to lose another loved one.

Her eyes kept staring as his eyes closed and his head fell back on the floor, his breathing slowed down and as she watched with painful anticipation it stopped all together. "KOUTA!? KOUTA!? KOUTAA!? KOUTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!?"

"Enough already… I can't take more of this… enough please… enough… I won't… forgive… the people… anybody… who dares to hurt… the ones that I love and adore… everything…!" She howled in anger towards the sky.

Standing there at the beach Yuka was on the verge of just completely breaking down.

Having had enough to endure emotionally she was almost a wreck after having read the note, everytime she had gone over it. She couldn't understand why Kouta would go out and do such a stupid thing. "Kouta you baka! What were you thinking going out on your own!? You were shot in the chest! That bullet punctured your lung! Don't you know that, you know damn well that you shouldn't move at all! Kouta you big IDIOT!"

Following close behind her Mayu who had for the most part not said a word as she didn't know what to say, honestly she was feeling just as desperate as Yuka was right now.

Her worries were every bit as big as hers, the two of them had set out on this mad dash ever since but so far their search throughout the city had been fruitless, there had been no sign of him and not even the police who they had contacted had seen him.

"If anything were to happen to you Kouta… then I… then I…I…" For Yuka it was painful to even think that somewhere in this city Kouta was all on his own, helpless and unable to get himself to safety. The mere thought that he was actually going to die unless they were to find him and soon was too much for her overstretched nerves, she kept on crying as it was the only thing that she could think of.

Nana and Saeko had still not shown up and much like Mayu her concern was growing by the minute, she hated this day. How she wished that this day was nothing more than a bad nightmare that she could wake up from at any moment but no matter how hard she wished for it, it wouldn't end. This day had started so well for her but now it was spiraling down into a hellish nightmare.

Mayu did her best to comfort her but without knowing what to say she kept praying for somebody anywhere to help Kouta, for them to watch over him in his moment of need. If somebody were to make sure that he was safe, that was all she asked for at the moment.

"Yuka-san." Mayu remarked as she noticed something in the distance. "Over there..."

"Mayu-chan what are you pointing at?" Yuka sobbed as she turned her head to look where she was pointing towards too. As she noticed it her heart froze on the spot, out there far ahead the towering form of the Enoshima tower was surrounded by what she could only describe as a dark maelstrom. Everything about it felt wrong to her but a split second later the top half of it exploded and Yuka unable to say a word screamed as she fell to her knees.

"COMMANDER WE HAVE ONE HELL OF A SIGNAL HERE!" The man yelled as he was nearly launched from the controls, sparks erupted as the panels started to break apart. Something so powerful had hit the vectorcraft that it had created a dangerous feedback that was now destroying most of their systems.

"Disconnect all system, raise the buffers! Prevent that feedback from reaching the central cores!" Kanbe barked orders and they had too if they wanted to prevent this vectorcraft from breaking down, right now this was their only effective weapon against Lucy, they could not allow it to be destroyed before it even could get into the fight.

"IT'S NOT WORKING! THE FEEDBACK WAS SO STRONG THAT IT HAS CAUSED THE CORE TO START DETERIORATING. ORGANIC TISSUE IS STARTING TO DISSOLVE!"

The crew tried hard to counteract the loss of the organic components but it seemed to be already too late. "THE VECTORCRAFT WERE DESGINED TO FIGHT SILPELITS! IT CANNOT POSSIBLY GO AGAINST THE POWER THAT LUCY NOW POSSESSES!"

Biting back on his tongue commander Kanbe was thinking hard on what they should do next, they had lost their offensive capabilities but that did not make them entirely defenseless.

"I want a full status rapport now, I want to know what our remaining capabilities are! We will be at Enoshima soon but we cannot attack blindly!" Already he was cursing the fools who had allowed for this to happen, had he not expressed direct orders that nobody was to engage her.

If those men were still alive there would be repercussions if it was their fault.

Behind them all Arakawa couldn't get enough of it, she was laughing and taking in the delight of finding out that this vectorcraft to which the commander had been boasting about so much was now nothing more than a big pile of trash. All the while and much to the annoyance of the commander and the crew making constant remarks on how their toy was either useless, how it's invincibility has highly overrated. She couldn't get enough of it.

"Buahahahhahaha, oh you people just crack me up! To think you could actually thought you could take her on!" Keeping on laughing she almost didn't hear it when one of the crews informed them or a rather important bit of information.

"COMMANDER! ENOSHIMA TOWER IS WITHIN VISUAL RANGE!" Moving swiftly commander Kanbe grabbed a pair of binoculars and headed out towards the front door, intrigued Arakawa was quick to follow as she wanted to see this with her own eyes.

They fell silent as the door opened and their eyes lay witness to the scene unfolding before them, like many thousands of others who witnessed it as well from all across the city they were at a loss for words as it happened.

"W-What in the name of god is that!?" The commander gasped in horrified surprise as no word he could come up with could properly describe what he was witnessing. Arakawa who until a few moments ago was still laughing and giggling also feel dead silent, her eyes wide from the sheer terror she saw standing there on top of the ruined remains of the tower.

A single figure surrounded by what felt to her like a hurricane of vectors swirling all around her, all the while clutching onto something she was holding in her arms but to who or what it was she had no idea. The whole scene totally eclipsed what she had seen at the DRI, this was something entirely different, something so vastly different that she could not fathom that it was being caused by a single living creature; Lucy.

"UUUUUWWWWAAAAAAAHHHHHAAAA!" Kaede howled in agonized rage as she kept on holding Kouta tight, his body was starting to feel so cold to her now.

"KOUTA! KOUTA!" She kept on crying as she could no longer go on with her life, it had all become too much for her to bear. Any desires she might have had left to live on were utterly gone. "I'VE HAD ENOUGH! I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS!"

Why had it all have to come down to this, she could have at least endure knowing that he hated her but if that meant he was still able to live a long and happy life and she could bear that thought but not if it meant he was going to die. She didn't want for him to die out here all alone and without his family.

"IT'S ALL POITNLESS NOW! EVERYTHING I HAVE HAD TO ENDURE IN MY LIFE! WHAT IS THE POINT OF IT NOW!? ... THIS WORLD… THIS HORRIBLE DESPICABLE WORLD… A WORLD LIKE THIS…" And then in her desperation and overcome by her pains and fears she gave in to what the voice had been calling out for nearly her entire life, in one single act of faith she did what she had tried to avoid.

"THIS WORLD… WILL NO LONGER BE ALLOWED TO EXIST… I WILL DESTOY IT!" Craning her back in fury she cried as her vectors reached a new level of height and power, untold power surged through her body and she could feel it.

As they reached out all across the city, demolishing building like they were a children's toy, structure collapsed in on themselves as their internal support were ripped out, city blocks were wiped away in one fell sweep and peoples ran for their very lives.

The bridge connecting Kamakura and Enoshima sagged and swayed until it got to the point where it could take no more and with a deafening roar it crashed into the bay taking countless people with it to their deaths.

"ENOUGH! I HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF IT ALL! EVEYRTHING AND EVERYBODY ON THIS WORLD! I WILL CRUSH ALL OF IT!" Clutching him tightly she was shook to the core as a burning sensation took hold of her left hand; gazing at it she was horrified.

The skin on her hand started to blister and then ran molten shortly followed by the entire hand simply tearing itself lose from her arm. As it hit the floor below her it simply splattered like an overripe fruit. Her mind raced back thinking about the last words of warning the chief had given her before his demise. "Lucy, understand that your powers are not infinite. If you continue to use your powers in this manner, the entropy will only increase and consume your body. Your body will melt and you will die."

"UWAAAAAAAAAA!" She howled once more as it became clear that no matter how much she wanted to, her body could not cope with this any longer, she could not even get her revenge on the world for what it had done to her beloved Kouta. What was there left for her to do, Kouta was gone and soon she was going to join him as well.

"…Guh…" It was a soft noise that she at first hadn't noticed but when it came a second time it startled her, looking down at his face she noticed the faintest sign of him trying to breathe.

"KOUTA!?" She cried out of sheer disbelief. "PLEASE LIVE…!" She wasn't sure what to make of this, what this going to be yet another cruel trick of fate lulling her into a false sense or was there still a genuine chance for her to save him.

His sweater was drenched in his own blood, as her hand rested on it she felt how sticky it still was. Didn't matter how hard she tried to press on it the blood just kept coming. "It is no good…" She told herself in despair. "The bleeding just won't stop… his breathing is starting to slow down again… it is already too late for him… he is… he is… Kouta…" Sobbing she grabbed his head and placed in into her lap, if he was going to die then she wanted for him to spend his last moment in some form of comfort.

Looking around the desolate and mangled remains of what used to be the upper portions of the tower that wasn't going to mean much but it was all she could think off at the moment. But something kept nagging at the back of her head, something that she had never been aware of. She began to wonder that with her powers having always been used to destroy or kill if there was perhaps also a way to use them in a different manner, could it be possible for her to use her vectors to repair or heal the damage a living creature had suffered.

"If it were possible… to use my power to piece together the damaged cells… if I used that power on you… would that make you better Kouta?" She whispered towards him, she didn't know if it was going to work but then she did know that she was able to use her vectors to move blood vessels by mere millimeters or cause a heart to go into a cardiac arrest. It was nevertheless a daunting prospect as she hadn't done this before, she didn't know if it was going to work but despite having nothing to lose over it she was feeling hesitant towards it.

"With my body already starting to melt…" She sobbed as she was starting to notice that burning feeling again on her back. "If I use my powers on you… it could heal your wound… even if it is just a little bit… even at the cost of my life… that is still worth it to me.."

"I won't let you to that! I won't let you waste the time remaining to use by saving that human vermin!" There it was again rearing its ugly face to confront her once more. "Do not be a fool, we can still do this, we can still have our revenge on all of mankind!"

"Shut up!" Kaede sneered. "I am not going to listen to you anymore; my problems came when I started to listen to you. Kouta is dying because you had to attack that man!"

"Have you forgotten already how much suffering and pain the humans has caused you? All the misery this world has brought you? It were humans not me who hurt this thing! You should do well to remember your place, now come and heed my words!"

Kaede chuckled as she heard that. "I haven't forgotten that at all!" She remarked with the venom notable in her voice. "It would be a good thing if this world ceased to exist, there is too much pain, suffering and misery in it. Destroying it would still be the best thing I think, but!"

She could not deny how much she hated this world, it would be foolish of her and yet this world had also showed her a small glimmer of hope. "But no matter how hated I am! How much I get bullied! Or how much I get tormented by others!"

Shrugging her shoulders Kaede understood why she had gotten herself involved with humans time and time again, why she had despite her hatred and distrust for them allowed herself to befriend humans and grieved for when they were gone.

"Being by myself is lonely… I don't want to be lonely ever gain… I would rather die than to be lonely once more in my life…"She cried and screamed in another act of defiance against the voice which was even now trying to worm its way through her.

"You dare to defy me, do you know what the consequences are for that!? I will make you pay for your stupidity! Your foolishness will be the undoing of us both!" As if Kaede could care about that any longer, as if she wanted that wretched thing inside her head any longer, if she could rid the world as well of this infernal voice then so be it.

"I have people to protect and even if that were to cost me my life I would gladly lay it down for them…" The thoughts of her adopted family and their faces were starting to give her the strength to keep on resisting the influence of the voice, to think that all she ever needed was just a companion to be there for her.

"No what do you think you're doing!? Stop that! I told you to stop that! No! No! No not this! There is no more doubt! Damn what have you done…!" Leaning in closer towards Kouta she took one last good look at him. "Goodbye… my dear Kouta."

Briefly she considered giving him one last kiss as this would be her only chance but in hindsight she hadn't done anything to deserve such a right. "I can no longer… although you won't be able to hold me any longer… To think that my life which I have always been spent on destroying things could be used for something so wonderful…" A stirring sensation took hold of her as she allowed her vectors to penetrate deep inside Kouta's wound, she wondered if it was going to work but with nothing to lose it would enable her to do one good thing in her life. It could never make up for all of her past crimes but one good deed no matter how small was always going to be better than none at all. "Kouta… if I were gone… would you still cry over me… would you miss me…?"

Closing her eyes and smiling she began to hum at first and then sing the only song she desired, where it once might have been the tone from the music box it was by now replaced by altogether different song, one she had sung along with the rest of her family.

"Bei nacht im Dorf der Wächter rief Elfe! Ein ganz kleines Elfchen im Walde schlief wohl um die Elfe! "

Nana watched and listened with an equal mix of surprise and confusion as she could hear the song as well.

"Reist sich den Elf die augen auf, begibt sich von sein Schreckenhaus. "

She recognized the song all too well; she had sung it along with the others so often that she lost track on many times they had spent the evenings together.

"Nana-san, that is Nozomi-san's song isn't it?" Saeko asked as she looked around in an attempt to find out where it was coming from. Despite her best efforts to convince Saeko that she needed to stay at the house the young girl would have none of it. She had cried and yelled that much Nyu was as much a big sister of hers as she was to Nana and she was not planning on letting her get hurt, whatever the reason might be she would not let Nyu be sad or in pain any longer.

"Yeah it is." Nana sighed though she could not understand why Nyu or Lucy as she knew her was singing this song at a time like this; she could not understand what was going through her mind. "Why is Lucy-san singing this song, why is she in so much pain, what has angered her?" What had gone on that tower, what had caused her to have unleashed such power?

"L-Lucy-san?" Saeko gasped as somehow that name brought back memories to her. "D-Do you mean that Lucy-san is the same person as Nyu-san?"

Nana was every bit as surprised to hear Saeko asked that question; her reaction seemed to be the same that she herself had experienced on finding out for the first time who she really was.

"I sometimes heard the people talking about a Lucy but they always seemed to be scared of her, so is she the same person as Nyu-san?'

Nodding her head in response she could see the resolve in the young diclonius growing, what Saeko told her next didn't come as a surprise any longer and at that moment she agreed to it whole heartedly. "Let's go Saeko-san, Nyu-san is going to need us!" Holding each other hand they ran off towards the tower in the distance.

"Und ist als wie einen trunken mann, sein Schläflein war nicht voll getan, und humpelt also tippe tapp. "

Her eyes still red from the tears she had been shedding Yuka looked towards the ruined remains of the tower, not understanding why she could even hear this song much less understand why it was being sung in the first place she nevertheless could feel the emotions behind it.

"Yuka-san, I can hear somebody singing." Mayu mentioned as she stepped forward, just like the others of the house she too recognized the song that she was hearing. "Where do you think it is coming from? Could it possibly be from the tower?"

"I-I don't know Mayu-chan, it does sound like it is coming from it but this is a rather sad song. Isn't this the same song you all learned from Nozomi-chan?" Yuka asked her, she had heard being sung throughout the house many times before even though she had never participated with the others.

Mayu nodded as she heard the question. "Then do you think that Nyu-san might be up there? She always loved that song more than anybody."

Yuka had to smile as she recalled the enthusiasm Nyu had always displayed for when it was time for their lessons, there were no bounds to her joy as she saw Nozomi reaching out for her notebook. "Mayu-chan I think you might be right, let's go there and see if it really is Nyu-chan that is singing this song. Let's go and bring her back home as well."

"Schlupft an der Mauer hin so dicht, da sitzt der Glühwurm Licht an Licht. Was sind das helle Fensterlein? "

Already in the distance she could hear the loud noises being produced by the jet engines, even now when she was trying to do at least one good deed it seemed that people were never going to stop haunting her.

"Da drin wird eine Hochzeit sein: die Kleinen sitzen bei'm Mahle, und treiben's in dem Saale. "

The white contrails in the sky already told her what was coming towards her, to think that in their desperation these people were willing to resort to such drastic ways to silence her once and for all. Was this the extent to how much she was being feared and hated as well by all humans, was this how much they wanted to see her death?

"Pfui, stößt den Kopf an harten Stein! Elfe, gelt, du hast genug? Gukuk!"

The missiles exploded just a mere four metres from where she and Kouta were sitting but despite the force of the explosion or all the pieces of shrapnel neither of them would get hurt.

"Kouta, it is alright" She whispered to him as more contrails appeared in the sky. I will protect you, I won't allow them to harm you again."

" Und meint, es rief ihm aus dem Tal bei seinem Namen die Nachtigall, oder Silpelit hätt' ihm gerufen. "

More explosions were rocking what was left standing of the tower back and forth but she would not give up, nothing and nobody would be allowed to harm Kouta this time, gazing in the distance her eyes narrowed as she turned her attention on the jetfighters themselves this time.

"Durch's Haselholz in's Tal hinab. "

Reaching out towards them she quickly and mercilessly took care of each and every single one of them, no longer being in a controlled flight the jets crashed at high speed into the surrounding buildings of either Enoshima or Kamakura. The ones that were on a collision course with the tower itself were destroyed in midair.

"It is because I was never allowed to become one of you." She cried as another burning jet came crashing to the ground. Out there in the sea before her two dark grey shapes began to appear, already from where she was sitting she could well imagine what it was that they were trying to do as a column of smoke erupted from the front deck of both ships. Born on a pillar of flame and smoke something emerged as it distanced itself from the ships.

"Da drin wird eine Hochzeit sein: die Kleinen sitzen bei'm Mahle, und treiben's in dem Saale. Da guck' ich wohl ein wenig 'nein! "

Not letting them get away with it she struck out first.

"Farewell Kouta, my love..."
