She could feel the warmth of the sunlight stretch across her face and it peeped through the shut blinds. She was still used to it. In her previous house, the only light that was seen crept through the vast amount of trees. She squinted her eyes a few times, trying to get them open whilst reaching for her phone she carelessly placed on the bedside table of the unfamiliar room. Amy had no idea if anyone else was awake or if it was in fact 4am. It had happened before.

Her eye lids battered opened to reveal a deep sea blue colour. She looked around the extremely large room before remembering that she, along with Zoey, were sleeping in the castle's spare room. Speaking of Zoey, she was curled up on the opposite side of the bed, breathing deeply and frozen like a statue.

Amy clambered out of the bed and slipped her feet into her slippers. She located her phone on the floor by the wardrobe, clearly an obvious place to leave it, and discovered that it was 8:49am. Thank goodness it was the holidays.

The door creaked as she opened it; Kyle had mentioned that nobody has used that bedroom in a long time. Apparently it once belonged to someone named Medeva and she loved the colour blue. Once in the corridor, Amy slowly tried to shut the door again, hoping to leave Zoey to sleep. Satisfied with her work, she crept across the corridor, to Kyle's bedroom. His door was not creaky, something to do with a certain female Jr defender not having a stupid door wake her up, so she opened it and peeped in

Amy smiled slightly. All three boys were sleeping on Kyle's bed. Drake had half his body leaning off the bed and heading towards the floor while the other half was lying on Kyle, who was squashed in the middle. Josh was at the opposite end of the bed but his feet and legs were resting on Drake's legs and Kyle's stomach. They looked so adorable… a quick photo couldn't help.

She quietly shut the door as well and made her way down the stairs into the living room. Kyle had pre-warned them all that morning TV was rubbish so they might want something better to do so she walked over to the top of the fire place and observed all the pictures.

The first one was dated back to 2010, it was a picture of all the defenders (minus Faetal, Vane and Medeva), and who were all posing with their weapons for the photo. Amy couldn't believe that it was almost 20 years ago. The next one along was of baby Jack with his parents. Clearly, it was there as a reminder to Jack that his parents did love him and didn't want to abandon him. The third photo was off a small baby girl and a new born baby. Judging from the descriptions of the parents, the two baby children were Zsa-Zsa and Danny. Everyone loved that photo because everyone was smiling and that was a rare thing. Finally, the fourth photo was of Annaka and her parents. Gildar was standing proud behind Ballista, with his arm wrapped round her shoulders while Ballista, herself, was staring down at the baby wrapped in a red blanket, possibly another reminder that the parents did love their children and that the Jr defenders were loved.

"That's the problem though isn't it?" Amy whispered to herself, "There were loved."

Amy picked up the yellow scrap book that was lying on the armchair and flicked through the pages. Most of them were filled with memories and pictures of toys from Kyle's childhood. Amy smiled, at least she knew a bit about Kyle's past but her smile ceased when she turned to the last page and something fell onto the floor.

Closing the yellow book, she bent down and picked it up. It was another photo. This time it was of all the Jr defenders in what Amy could have only assumed was there JCD defender outfits. Kyle looked so happy, happier than he is at the moment. He had a grin plastered all over his face. Jack's arm was loosely wrapped around him, he too was smiling. Zsa-Zsa had her hand on Jack's shoulder; she was smiling slightly, which was impressive as Zsa-Zsa never smiled. Annaka was leaning into Danny. It was hard to tell, as the picture only showed from chest upwards, but she was pretty sure Danny had his arms wrapped round Annaka's waist.

Amy placed the photo back into the scrap book and threw it back onto the chair. She observed more photos around the room and in everyone Kyle was smiling. He hadn't smiled since the day in the lab. Of course they had tried last night.

"We'll never live up to the Jr defenders." Amy muttered.

"Of course you won't." A voice from behind her said.

Amy jumped around and found James watching her, "I'm sorry but it's true. Kyle belonged with the Jr defenders; they were his people. They understood him and read him like a book. You and the others have only known him for about two weeks. You come from completely different worlds but the connection is there. It's not just as strong and I'm sorry again, it won't probably be as strong as the one he had with the Jr defenders."

"And how do you know?" Amy asked offended.

"Because you weren't there during the fights with Astrid or Alwin. You weren't present when Danny and Jack went head to head because of a training simulation Kyle went through and almost got badly injured in. You weren't there when Kyle felt so alone that he would cry himself to sleep every night. You weren't there to defend him against every argument that he was involved in with his parents or the Jr defenders and you weren't there when Kyle's whole world changed and he realised that some people are just plan evil. The Jr defenders were. They lived through all that with him. "James explained, "They stood up against his parents when they insisted that maybe moving back to the castle wasn't a good idea. Jack crept into Kyle's room every night to soothe his sobs about being alone in the world. Zsa-Zsa helped him make tough decisions. Danny defended him and went against everyone else when Kyle said he didn't want to use the training simulations anymore and Annaka listened to him when everyone else too busy to."

Amy just stood there in silence. He had a point, she barely knew Kyle for five minutes and she expected to replace his friends- no family- within minutes. They had an unbreakable bond, she had a feeling that not even death could break.

Suddenly, James phone started beeping out at an alarming rate. He raced his arm into his trouser pocket and grabbed the object. He tapped the screen twice before looking at Amy.

"Robosaurs down town by the mall. I'll wake the others, you go." He instructed.

Amy nodded and ran out of the castle despite being in her PJ's. It didn't matter though. Nobody would actually see her.

"It's Dino Time!" Amy called out into the openness.

"Vulcanodon!"

The thing Amy knew was that she was now running in white boots and not fluffy slippers. She had no idea that footwear could have an impact on running down a hill! Or through town! Why did it have to be towards the mall? The furthest point in town! Why couldn't they just hang around outside the castle? It would make travelling a lot easier.

By the time Amy actually arrived at the mall, the robosaurs had scared everyone away and had almost destroyed everything in its path but she was a defender now and defenders did not give up. She ran towards the robosaurs and kicked them in a hope to smash them to pieces. She was obviously outnumbered but luckily for her, the pounding footsteps weren't far behind.

"Raptorex!"

"Pterodactyl!"

"Triceratops!"

"Tyrannosaurs!"

Her four teams mates managed to divide the numbers equally between them all leaving only three robosaurs to defeat each. Amy kicked and punched with all her might trying to break the robosaur which was currently in front of her. She gave it one final kick and the robosaur smashed to pieces on the floor. Amy gave a triumphant smile before turning around and-

~Ooooo~

Everything was blurry and the recognisable voices were getting louder and louder.

"-mild concussion."

"She'll be fine. No lasting damage apparently."

"What about her parents? Do you think they believed us?"

"Most likely."

It was the beeping next to her that was the most disturbing. It wouldn't stop and she was sure that the mall wasn't known for its continuous beeping.

"Kyle?" She called out for her leader.

Instead of Kyle, a worried Drake and Zoey came into view. Drake's hair was a mess and was sticking up all over the place while Amy's smiling face was frowning. Amy tried to get up but was instantly hit with a throbbing pain in her head.

"Take it easy Jackie-Chan." Drake said grabbing Amy and slowly pulling her up, "Don't damage yourself even more."

"What happened?" She asked.

"Robosaur hit you over the head with a branch." This time it was Josh who informed her, "Not even your helmet could give you full protection from that."

"Where's Kyle?" She asked feeling slightly worried but mostly betrayed. Did he think that because she wasn't a Jr defender, she wasn't worth worrying over?

"We sent him to grab hot chocolates. He was panicking over you. Finished off that robosaur who hit you over the head with one punch." Drake told her.

Amy nodded feeling better and honoured that Kyle did care for her. Due to the amount of morphine that she was given to ease the pain, Amy couldn't keep focus on anyone's face so was looking around the room like a maniac until she noticed an unfamiliar shadow, lurking in the corner.

To be fair, it probably belonged to Zoey, but the hair was longer and was messier. Also the posture wasn't right. Zoey was sitting on the bed while this shadow was standing upright with its arms crossed. Man, this morphine really did mess with your head.

"I bet you all think I'm weak now." She muttered.

"What?" All three replied.

"How could you think that?" Zoey asked, "It's the complete opposite!"

"Yeah, you got knocked over the head with a branch and only walked away with mild concussion. A normal person would be unconscious for at least 12 hours." Josh expanded.

The mention of time made Amy glance up at the nearest clock. 14:38. she was only out for a few hours at least.

"I bet Kyle think's I'm weak and rubbish replace for Zsa-Zsa. I bet she didn't get knocked unconscious when she was hit over the head. I bet she bounced right back."

"I wish"

Okay, the morphine was really messing with her now. Not only was she seeing weird shadows but now she was hearing things? Great, not only did the team have a weakling but a crazy one.

When Amy gathered her real thoughts and turned to look at her fellow team mates, she discovered they had fled and were replaced by Kyle holding his cup of hot chocolate.

"Feeling better?" He asked to which Amy nodded. His face then turned serious, "I heard you, you know, about being weak and rubbish. For the record I agree with the others. You're stronger than you look and I'm glad that you're the blue defender. I'm sure Zsa-Zsa would be honoured to have you in her place."

"Too right Kiddo."

Amy shuddered off the voices and gave her full attention to Kyle who was still pouring his heart out, "I also heard what James said to you this morning."

The look on Amy's face said it all, "And I want you to know that there is some truth in what he said. The Jr defenders- my ex-team mates- are irreplaceable and I will always think of them and you won't be able to comfort me like they did but that doesn't mean I think you any less. You guys have helped me. Take the sleepover for instances, that was the best night's sleep I've had in days."

A smile crept onto Amy's face, "So I'm not as useless as James thinks?"

"Definitely." Kyle replied.

"Good Luck Amy Richards and let the power of the blue defender protect you."

Okay, she really needed to get off this morphine.
