Zoey was moving but it wasn't down to her legs. They were solid against the floor, so how was she moving? She automatically grabbed the railings of the hospital bed and held on for dear life. Her knuckles had whitened due to the pressure of having to hold on. What on earth was happening? The whole room was shaking! Zoey looked down at Amy; she was waking up from her nap.

The fan danced with the earth whilst blowing a cool breeze into Zoey's face. Her chocolate brown hair flew out behind her like a female criminal fleeing in a convertible car. Amy was glued to the bed. Her golden hair was blowing to the left cutting off her eye sight to the reality of the situation.

A pain shot through her arm but she was too scared to let go of the railing and support it with her other hand. The shaking increased and so did the pain. She glanced around the room once more, trying to increase her view of the room.

Her thoughts turned to the boys. Where were they? Josh had left the room to grab a hot chocolate and to catch up on sleep while Kyle and Drake went on an excursion to reception. Surely they would be alright. They were defenders after all... But Amy still got injured whilst wearing her defenders outfit and this was an earthquake (her mind just recognised that) and for the light of day, it wasn't stopping. It was like a child wailing for attention, fed up of being ignored and unleashing all it's might in one loud scream.

The smash of mugs and glasses that were peacefully sleeping on tables had awoken and in a grump had deliberately fallen onto the ground in a form of protest against this wailing, attention seeking child. Zoey's own mug from earlier in the day had yet to join the protest but wasn't far behind in joining. Luckily, Amy caught it; the knock of the head had clearly woken her up her reflexes or maybe it was the earthquake- it was mighty enough to enhance anyone's reflexes.

The fan slowly stopped dancing with the earth and fell to the floor in a heap of exhaustion as the child had stopped wailing. Time itself stopped for a second; double checking that the earthquake was really over. Zoey loosened her grip on the bed railings, her palms were snow white and ached like a car had ran over them. Although there wasn't a mirror present, she knew that her hair was a mess. Her processor would be ashamed. Shaking her head in an attempt to sort out her hair, she was about to go and check on Amy when her parents came bursting through the door and ran over to the hospitalised child making sure that the earthquake hadn't affect her. She took this as a sign to check on the boys.

Squeezing past Amy's father, Zoey grabbed onto the door forgetting that her hand no longer liked this course of action, winced in pain. She now doubted herself to whether she had sprained it; even so she ignored it and entered the corridors of despair. People were running everywhere and to make matters worse no one knew who was patient or visitor.

With no knowledge of which drink dispenser Josh might have gone to, Zoey started her search with Kyle and Drake, at there was only one reception. Unfortunately for her, it was bound to busy with people searching for relatives and checking to see if any hospital members were injured. Speaking of relatives she would have to call her mum soon…if she wasn't already here. It really wouldn't have surprised Zoey to see her mum at the front of the reception queue ordering the receptionists to check for a Zoey Russells.

Once in the outskirts of the hospital corridors, Zoey discovered that being 5ft 5'' had its disadvantages, she couldn't look over anyone so shouting seemed like the best option, "Kyle! Drake! Where are you? Kyle! Drake! Any teenagers here?"

Zoey waited for a reply but didn't get one. To be honest, she wasn't expecting one; it was unlikely that either friend would have heard her. She shoved through the crowds, which mostly contained adults. One of them bumped into her rather hard, almost knocking her down. By the look of the shorts and pink vest top and red converse shoes, she was a woman. Zoey was about to complain about the lack of manners when she noticed how bruised her arms were and the many small cuts on her legs and arms, she had her arm around her chest, clearly her ribs were aching. The woman muttered what could only be an apology and that she 'needed to find someone'. She then touched Zoey on the arm to show her that was sincerely sorry before hurrying off into the crowds.

"Kyle! Drake!" She shouted again, now far mar desperate than before. She constantly shouted, desperation was turning into fear and fear was turning into a glimpse of reality. There wasn't any debris which was a good sign but she had no idea if they were even in the hospital.

"Kyle! Where are you? Drake! Josh!" She shouted, now trying all three boys. From the corner of her eye, she saw two blocks of green and yellow. She turned her gaze and saw Kyle and Josh talking in the corner. A small girl was tugging onto Josh's hand.

"Zoey." A voice from behind her shouted.

Zoey spun round frantically, almost losing her balance for the second time today. James was standing there, suit untorn and hair perfectly symmetrical. It looked like the earthquake had completely missed the castle altogether or had diverted its way around James due to fear.

"Care to explain why you're uselessly shouting in a room where about 100 hundred are already shouting?" He asked.

"Umm." Zoey paused trying to find an intelligent way to say 'I was scared that my friends were injured despite being in a hospital'

"Thought so." He said before she had the chance, "You know there are many people out in the town needing help."

"Okay, I get the picture." Zoey replied as she pulled at her DNA tube, "It's-"

"Not in here!" James shouted although it sounded like a whisper due to the deafening noise, "People will see who you are and it would make the point of having a helmet useless."

Zoey rolled her eyes and gently pushed through the crowds, her mind was still on Drake as she had yet to see him but with James's sudden appearance, he was going to be okay so she ran outside, ignoring the ruins for a second and ran to the side of the hospital and camouflaged herself within the rubbish bins.

"It's Dino Time!" She shouted.

"Pterodactyl!"

Injured citizens watched confused and intrigued as they watched the pink dino defender clumsily climb out from behind the bins with much difficulty then running off past them to the west of the town.

~Ooooo~

The child was screaming in her ear for their loved one. For an outsider it wasn't a difficult task. Anyone could do it; firemen do it every day so why was she struggling? She was a gymnast after all! It was just like walking along a beam. The child screamed louder. It almost made her fall from her current position. Almost. She regained her balance and continued walking along the twisted branch.

The child was glancing up at her, tears forming in her eyes. She wanted Snowy back and she wanted Snowy back now. How did she even get up here anyway? James told her to help injured people! This cat was clearly enjoying a calm nap or taunting her by pretending to have one. She ignored the other conversations that were happening between her red and yellow team mates and focused on getting the cat.

She edged forwards, taking in sharp breaths as she did so. She was so close to the cat, she was in arms reach. She slowly knelt down and stretched her arms to reach it. Her finger tips stroked the glistening white fur. The cat's eye sprung open and with a loud 'Meow' the cat leapt from the trees into the owners arms.

The branch started to wobble, Zoey tried to regain balance but not even she, a gymnast, could overcome this much wobbling. The branch shook to the left and kicked Zoey off causing her to fall into the arm and… land into a pair of arms.

"What can I say? I have good timing!" A familiar cocky voice responded before carefully placing her on the floor.

"Drake, so you're alive then?" Zoey replied back.

"Guys! Now is not the time!" Kyle's calm voice cut through but Zoey couldn't help but notice the sight worry in it.

"Right, of course Ky." Drake responded causing Zoey to wonder if she had missed something "Let's go."

"Where are we going?" She asked Drake but instead got a reply from James, who didn't seem to be able to change tones in his voice.

"To Josh. We lost contact five minutes ago." He explained, "Were you even listening?"

"She was too busy climbing trees." Drake cut in before Zoey could respond. She was lucky her helmet hid the angry expression on her face.

"Why were you-" James was about to say until Kyle interrupted him.

"It doesn't matter; just make sure Josh is okay. I'll check on you later Zoey." He instructed them before cutting off.

Zoey bit her lip in confusion to that last statement. How did Kyle know she was afraid? Yes, she was still a bit wobbly about being up there was her sense of balance hadn't yet returned but Kyle was… somewhere, how did he know this? When James had explained all the mutant powers or whatever they were, she could have sworn that Kyle did not have telepathy but water.

"Zoey! Hurry up!" Drake shouted to her breaking her trend of thought.

"Sorry." She replied picking up her running pace.

Most of the citizens were either in hospital or were hardly injured at all. They were no longer in any buildings. Luckily, Pearl Canyon didn't have any sky scrapers. Zoey followed in Drake's actions and jumped over various debris and bricks that lay helplessly on the floor before turning a corner and observing a crowd of people looking down at the floor in despair.

"Dino Defenders!" Drake introduced.

"Please move out the way so we can help!" Zoey finished off the greeting.

The crowd of people moved to the side very quickly and both Drake and Zoey were shocked to see there green team mate lying on the floor unconscious. As they moved closer towards him, the explanations came streaming out.

"-Fainted!"

"I was just standing here!"

"He collapsed!"

"You defenders are useless!"

That last comment got to Zoey but she pushed it to the back of her mind as she watched Drake carefully pick up Josh and run towards the hospital. People were still yelling after them. Zoey ignored them and slowly walked after Drake with tears trickling down her face.

~Ooooo~

After it was announced Josh had fainted due to lack of sleep, James instructed that they should leave him to rest and that Amy shouldn't wake him despite how board she was however Zoey was still around the side of the hospital with her defenders outfit still all. She could hear all their conversations through the comm in her helmet. She wanted to wait five minutes so the others wouldn't realise that she had been crying.

"Weird place for a defender to hang out. You're going to give the press a field day."

Zoey looked up to see Kyle, who wasn't as dirty as he was earlier, standing by the wall. She shrugged her shoulders and she felt more tears run down her face. She could see through the condensation that lay on her visor that Kyle was still looking at her.

"I did say I would check on you later." Kyle pointed out, "And this is later, so going to take that helmet off. That condensation will eventually cloud your visor."

Zoey smirked slightly, "I didn't think telepathy was your power."

"It isn't. I know when people are upset." He said with his voice softening at the end.

Zoey decided to power down entirely and talk to Kyle; he was the leader after all. She wiped the newly formed tears away and looked back up at Kyle for the thousandth time today. He wasn't expecting an answer immediately which made Zoey more relaxed. He just stood there patiently.

"I bet Annaka didn't used to do this." She commented grabbing Kyle off guard, "Cry and feel utterly useless member of the team. I bet she was strong and skilled and could actually save a cat from a tree."

"She was strong and personally, I didn't see her cry. She probably did, just not to me and saving cats wasn't really her style." Kyle told her, "She always helped out when things got out of hand but that doesn't mean that she felt useful. She didn't like admitting weakness."

Zoey regretted bringing her up but she needed to get it off her chest. She had seen pictures of Annaka and she had overheard Kyle's conversations with James about them. Not that she would ever tell Kyle, but last night she found videos of the Jr defenders, around Christmas time and of their training sessions during the JCD era. She had seen how spectacular Annaka really was.

"Other people put her down too." Kyle admitted making Zoey look up in amazement as he had figured out something else Zoey was feeling, "James, her grandparents- both sets, her parents and sometimes the other Jr defenders. They did it accidently of course. They underestimated her intelligence and grasp of the situation. She told me she felt like they were either treating her like glass or unleashing her into a pack of wolves and expecting her to survive for six months. Then when we had JCD powers, citizens put her down telling her that she was meant to protect the town so why was there so much damage. She said something to me and I will never forget it."

Zoey nodded eager for him to continue, "She said that, the citizens of Pearl Canyon forget that I'm human and that I can't be everywhere and stop every single robot at once. They forget that sometimes we mess up or we can't do certain things and if they stopped at helped for a moment then maybe they would see that."

Kyle finished at looked up at Zoey, "You're not useless; none of you are despite what that man said. Your human and that's the most important part of being a defender. I'm taking Josh back to the castle do you want to collect your things as well.

"Thanks." She replied for both the prep talk and the offer, "You're a pretty good leader."

"I learnt from the best." He explained as the pair made their way back inside the hospital with Zoey feeling far better than she did five minutes ago. Zoey looked out to the damaged Pearl Canyon, it would take a lot of time and building but every crack would be fixed.

~Ooooo~

Kyle bid Zoey farewell after she collected her things and making from the sleepover night before and making sure that she was okay. He then turned to James whilst making sure that Josh wasn't in sight.

"What did that cocoon thing do to me?" He asked worried.

"Why what has happened?" James asked concerned now, he only activated it to protect the Jr defenders. Oh the irony.

"It's my powers. I have a new one." Kyle replied as he did he shut his eyes and stretched his arm towards the glass of water standing on the table nearby. James watched in amazement as the water slowly turned to ice.

"That's incredible!" James exclaimed, "And you can still perform water tricks?"

Kyle nodded then turned his attention back to the cup of ice, he stretched his hand out again and the cup turned back to water, "Looks like I have a new power."

A/N: I know that last's part a bit random but I will expand in time. Up next Drake's view on the earthquake.
