A/N: Just a little angst and development for you. Hope you like it. I've decided to bring Lou Grover into this story. We'll see if he proves to be useful.
Enjoy.
Chapter 6: Where We Left Off.
Danny had to take a few very deep, very calculated breaths before he could calm down. Steve knew how affected the burial had been on Danny - how his claustrophobia had gotten worse in the time since - but he also trusted his partner to pull himself together. Danny would have time for a mental break down when they were free of this place, but for now he would calm down and he would do everything he could to get out of the tight space they were now cramped inside.
Once he'd finally caught his breath, Danny realized that Steve was not where he'd left him. He scanned the darkness - his eyes having adjusted to the lack of light and his ear acting as the more predominant sense now. He could hear Steve moving, sliding his hands slowly over the walls.
"What are you doing?" Danny asked out loud as he found his partner in the darkness.
"Shh." Steve hushed his friend and continued to move.
Danny watched as best as he could until he heard a ripping sound, a hiss and a pop, and then something smashed against the concrete floor.
"What did you just do?" Danny asked almost excitedly.
"Shh, I don't know if that was all of it. Just sit there and be quiet until I've finished my search." Steve ordered, pulled Danny to the ground and placed a mass in his hands.
As Danny sat listening to his partner move, and the odd grunt or curse as Steve hit his head or jarred his fingers, Danny realized that Steve had found the electrical device that broadcast Gladys's voice in the make shift cell. As he held it in his hands, Danny realized that it was made up of several boxes - one was a speaker, one house a microphone and the last had to house the radio receiver and transmitter.
The only problem was that the transmitter was locked inside a metal box and the microphone and speakers were in wooden boxes that had flimsy mesh over an opening. The wooden boxes had cracked and were crumbling in Danny's hands - along with his hope - as the radio stayed safely ensconced in the metal box.
Danny felt himself fading into despair when suddenly Steve plopped himself down beside Danny once more.
"Well, we are definitely in a tube like structure. It's long and gated at both ends, but I found the exit as well." Steve stated as he sat and snapped Danny out of his sinking.
"What are we waiting for?" Danny asked and moved to stand.
"It's locked too." Steve said with a sigh.
"Your super SEAL strength couldn't bust open a manhole cover?" Danny asked harshly - the panic was only slightly disguised in his speech.
"We're not under the street." Steve answered with another sigh. "It's a huge concrete block. Unless you have a pair of angels in your back pocket to roll away the stone, we're trapped in this tomb for now. Our best bet will be one of the two gates - preferably the down stream one."
Danny sighed and shook his head as he settled back into his place beside Steve.
"You've got to stay positive for me, Danno, we do have a radio transmitter."
"In a steal box."
"Not steal, it wouldn't work through steal and I grabbed everything else that I could find down here. We may be able to break that box open yet. We've got nails, scraps, all the things that washed down here and got stuck, as well as all the ropes and wires we were tied up in. We have things. We can make this work to our advantage."
"So your plan is to MacGyver your way out of this before the rain comes?" Danny asked skeptically.
"Do you have a better idea?" Steve asked.
"No," Danny answered honestly, "all I can think of is not drowning."

"What trouble have you gotten yourselves into this time?" SWAT Commander Lou Grover asked as he marched into the Five-O bullpen and found Catherine and Toast alone.
Handguns lay next to them on the smart table top and they'd decided it would be best to wear their vests at all times - for safety sake. Grover could tell something was up when both of them jump at his entrance and they instinctively reached for their weapons.
"Whoa, there now, calm down. It's just me." Grover stated defensively.
"Don't do that!" Toast stated and clutched at his chest. "You're gonna give me a heart attack."
"Sorry, Lou, we're just a little on edge with this one." Catherine said and nodded at the hacker who hadn't yet been introduced to the newcomer.
"I can see that," Lou said as he scanned the room and all of the monitors. "Where's the big Kahuna?" he asked and his eyes wandered toward Steve's office.
"Danny and Steve have been abducted by one of their old fugitives." Catherine answered and her voice cracked.
"I'm about ready to call her an arch nemesis," Toast grumbled.
"Well, now you'd better fill me in on everything if she's a nemesis." Grover stated and moved closer to the research team.

Duke and Chin sat silently before the two bound men as they waited for them to come to from their unconsciousness. When they started to stir, the only noise in the interrogation room was that of an old style camera flashing a blinding bright light and recharging itself for the next photograph.
Chin kept snapping pictures and blinding the men until the one with the head injury cried out in pain.
"Who are you and why are you here?" Chin asked as the first man came into consciousness, groaned in pain and kept his eyes firmly shut.
He struggled against his bonds in a frantic panic, tasted blood in his mouth and as suddenly as his consciousness had come on, so too did his fear.
"Answer the question." Duke hissed.
"My name is Alexander Ward. I'm from Philadelphia. I came in search of Five-O. My ID is in my coat pocket." the conscious man answered.
"No it's not." Duke stated and passed one of two leather wallets to Chin.
"Why do I not believe you?" Chin asked as he opened the leather bill fold and found nothing more than a driver's license.
"I'm telling the truth." The man said and seemed to sink as the second man started to regain consciousness as well.
The second man was slower to come back to reality, but when he did he coughed a few times and spit a mass of congealed blood onto the floor at Chin's feet.
"You'll never get away with this." The second man groaned.
"We already have." Chin said as he stood and started to pace. "We've also removed your molars so that you can't be cowardly and kill yourselves before we've had a chance to question you."
"Clearly you are aware that the two of you are expendable or Gladys McMahon wouldn't have given you and easy way out." Duke added as he pulled a paper note pad out of his pocket and poised himself to start taking notes.
"You can think what you want." Alexander said as he too spat blood onto the floor.
"So if we ran you through facial recognition, are we going to find you, Alexander, and you..."
"Cameron Vale," Duke finished and handed the second bill fold to Chin.
"Cameron Vale," Chin repeated, "in and around Five-O investigations and at the McGarrett house within the past several days?"
"Why don't you try it and find out?" Cameron asked.
"That is the plan." Duke stated.
"Right after we have you moved into a maximum security military facility for safe keeping." Chin explained.
"This has nothing to do with the military. They won't take us." Alexander said with a chuckle. "If that is your best scare tactic, it's not going to work with us, and even if you could get us into a place like that, we'll be in the wind before you are successful."
"Actually, by abducting a navy SEAL you brought every service man and woman on this island into this, and therefore, yes, we can send you into a max security military facility, and secondly, said navy SEAL is a very good personal friend of the Governor of Hawaii - for whom this task-force was created and who has given us permission to do whatever we see as fit to make you talk. We have full immunity and means, which mean we can beat you, torture you, and threaten your families if we want to."
At the mention of their families, shadows crossed both men's eyes.
"She knows where your families are, doesn't she? She's threatened you with them as well, hasn't she?" Duke asked.
"She's protecting our families. You'll never find them." Cameron stated.
"Neither will you." Chin spat. "Now that you haven't returned with whatever it is you were supposed to obtain from Five-O, Gladys will take steps to tie up all of her loose ends - meaning you and your families. You've failed her and she has no used for failure. She is ruthless and because you both sold your souls to that demon woman, you'll never see your families alive again. If she knows where they are, they are as good as dead."
"You're just trying to scare us." Alexander said and swallowed hard.
"Am I?" Chin asked. "We have all of the hard-drives, thumb-drives and surveillance devices that you arrived with. We've found your vehicle and we've disabled the explosives that you have set into our vehicles. Your mission today was foiled by two women who just happened to see you walk in the front doors and I'm sure Gladys saw it too. You're no good to her anymore and now she's going to make sure that you've been wiped out. You cannot doubt what I'm telling you because it's exactly what she commissioned you to do to us. Tell me I'm wrong." Chin demanded.
The two men lowered their eyes.
"Where are Steve McGarrett and Danny Williams?" Chin asked.
"They were taken by Gladys. She took them once we had them incapacitated, and we do not know where she took them." Alexander confessed.
"She was at the McGarrett house?" Duke asked dumbstruck.
"Yes," Cameron commiserated. "Alexander is telling the truth." he added. "She said that no one could know where they'd been taken. No one but herself and we were sent back to the place she had set up for us. We didn't see her again until dawn this morning, and she gave us our new orders."
"How many of you are there?" Chin asked.
"There are five of us. The three others were given different orders. She handed each of us a folder, told us to read it in private and follow the instructions within the folder. Only once we disbursed to the first location in our instructions did Cameron and I meet up with each other." Alexander explained.
"What did you do with the folders once you'd finished with them?" Duke asked.
"They're in the car." Cameron answered.
"Where was Gladys McMahon keeping you?" Duke asked as he read back over his notes.
"She said it was once her brother's property. Now it's abandoned." Alexander answered.
"It's abandoned because it's a murder house." Cameron added.
"It's not a murder house," Chin said with a shake of his head.
"It's a trap."
