Ivar smirked as that familiar déjà vu feeling arose from the pits of his stomach to his cold, blackened heart. Harvey had all five defenders tied to individual trees in the middle of the forest, just like over twenty years ago, except it was his brother tied to a tree along with his team of defenders. Speaking of defenders, the current captured ones were all struggling and twisting their bodies in order to break the ropes. Of course it was useless; Harvey had used climbing ropes to tie them up with and they were pretty tough.
Kyle twisted his upper body side to side hoping that the rope would rub against the harsh bark of the tree would cut the rope but judging by the smug look on Harvey's face, it wasn't going to happen soon. He knew it was a trap going into the forest but he at least thought that Harvey would have actually let them into the forest then captured them, not capture them right on the entrance of forest. The honourable thing would have been to actually let Zoey, Josh and himself have a chance at finding their team mates.
"So…" Drake said breaking the silence, "What's going to happen to us?"
"I'm glad someone asked!" Ivar exclaimed walking closer to the defenders, "Harvey! What's going to happen to them?"
"Basically Ivar, I'm holding them at ransom, the yellow defenders parents will pay it and I'll have the Splatalot Castle…We'll have the Splatalot Castle!"
"His plans really do lack detail." Amy muttered under her breath hoping that Harvey wouldn't hear her. She glanced up to see, luckily he was still blabbering about his plan but Ivar was looking at her with his eye brows raised. She fidgeted slightly as it was making her uncomfortable and also the fact that he wouldn't break eye contact.
"Untie them." Ivar ordered interrupting Harvey through his speech about achievements. The robosaurs rushed as fast as they could over to the five teens and untied the ropes causing them all to drop to the ground. Kyle looked up whilst wincing in pain from the 2ft drop, Harvey didn't look pleased, in fact he looked annoyed, rather annoyed.
"Why did you do that?" Harvey shrieked, "I was about to take a photo and send it to the defenders!"
"We're the defenders!" Drake exclaimed at Harvey.
"No, not you defenders, the other defenders, the original defenders." Harvey replied angrily to which Drake nodded, "Okay, from now on you guys will be new defenders okay? That should stop everyone from being confused."
"But what about the Jr defenders?" Zoey asked as they were on the topic, "What will we call them if they come up in conversation?"
"This really isn't the time or the place." Ivar interrupted. The whole situation was going off topic, "We'll stick to Jr defenders but if I may get back to the situation in hand, I untied them to make things a little interesting."
"Interesting?" Josh replied confused. How could untying them make anything more interesting? In Josh's view keeping them tied up was interesting because, for starters, Harvey had done a really good job at tying them up so escape would have been useless and secondly, it was interesting watching Harvey get emotional about a plan.
"Yeah, you see Harvey, apart from capture two out of five defenders; you haven't actually done anything useful." Ivar explained, "And as you captured them, I think that it's only fair that you get to finish them off. So kids, start running."
The new defenders froze. Were they really meant to start running? And where? All eyes went to Kyle, he would know if Ivar was bluffing or not. The yellow defender looked at Ivar then at Harvey, who looked at confused as he felt while Ivar had his head tilted towards the only pathway out of this section of the forest. Maybe he wasn't bluffing? Maybe he generally did want them to run but what would be the point? It was only delaying Harvey trying to destroy them also Ivar had never used this method before, not with Alwin and Banan or with Astrid.
"You have ten seconds." Ivar said a Kyle started heading towards the exit, pulling Amy and Josh along with him, "Go!"
The new defenders ran into the forest and Kyle hoped that his team mates would have enough initiative to stay as a team and not venture off alone, after all he had mentioned these woods once or twice and they should know that splitting up would be the worst thing to do. To make matters worse Kyle was leading them deeper into the forest. He had no idea where he was going! He barely made it out alive of this forest last time he was here and even then a he closer to death then he would have liked to be.
After hearing 'Go', the new defenders presumed that Harvey was now tight on their trail. Kyle ran into a sharp left and turned off the forest path and into the trees. Maybe running of track was the right thing to do? From the stories that he read in his parents files, they ran off track in this forest as well and they made it out alive. So he ran a little further into the forest and started to slow down and eventually stopped. Kyle spun around to see his team mates panting and collapsed against trees.
"Anyone else getting a hunger games vibe from this?" Amy asked in-between breaths.
"You read the hunger games?" Drake replied faintly as he too was out of breath, "Those books are like fifteen years old. Next you'll be telling me that you've read divergent and maze runner!"
"So what if I have!" Amy argued back, "They're good books to read and you'll probably expand your vocabulary of you actually read them!"
Zoey and Josh were just about able to smile at the comment, Kyle smirked slightly as Drake took offence to the comment, "Anyway, it's not exactly like hunger games. We have no weapons to defend ourselves with"
"Will you stop going al nerdy on us?" Drake asked.
"I'm not getting nerdy!" Amy exclaimed back.
"Guys, not now!" Kyle ordered. He was getting fed up of listening to the two of them argue, it reminded him of Danny and Zsa-Zsa's arguing and that was the one thing he didn't miss. Also, he was trying to listen for Harvey's footsteps which was an impossible task amongst all of the noise.
"Going back to weapons. Don't we have any auxiliary ones like you had at JCD and Overdrive?" Zoey asked. Everyone had seen the defenders on the news when they first appeared in Pearl Canyon so it was basic knowledge to know about the auxiliary weapons.
"Yeah." Josh agreed, "You guys were known for you aim when you were JCD."
Kyle thought back to when he acquired the Dino time powers. He was sure that the topic was brought up.
"What about auxiliary weapons?" Kyle asked.
Zsa-Zsa was about to reply when the alarm went off.
Then again, alarm always did have good timing and over time, no one asked about weapons as they didn't need them. The Robosaurs were going down like flies and to be honest, Kyle doubted whether James actually had a proper look through the memory stick that the former blue defender had given him. Anyway, it was too risky and too late to be going through what ifs. He had to focus on what they had and what they could do which at this moment in time was hide but that wasn't going to defeat Harvey was it? If Jack was here he would have stopped hiding and would have ran after Harvey himself and would have fought him to the ground.
"Not this time guys." Kyle replied, "We don't need them-"
"So how are we meant to defeat Harvey?" Drake interrupted, through his eyes auxiliary weapons were the only way out.
"We fight him the same way we fight the robosaurs." Kyle replied, "I know you guys want to live up to my former team mates and want to make James and I proud but you already have and I know that told you that due to…problems but seriously I am proud of you guys and I'm so happy that your my team mates and I have one hundred percent faith that we can fight Harvey together and take him down like he tries to take us down. You all want to keep up the defender legacy and here's the honest truth that legacy was built from nothing but faith and hope. Harvey thinks that he can destroy that in a second but he's forgotten one important fact, we're stronger than him and have way better plans. We can defeat him!"
"So what's the plan of action?" Josh asked aspired by Kyle's impromptu speech.
"We find Harvey and take him down." Kyle said replying instantly.
"He shouldn't be that far ahead." Zoey replied, "I guess he's stayed to the path."
"Hopefully." Amy said, she too was pumped and ready to fight, "He's not that clever when it comes to schemes."
"I think we established that." Drake said entering the conversation, "Maybe we could lead Harvey to us instead, after all I think he's more desperate in finding us than we are in finding him."
"Good idea and I have the perfect start." Kyle replied grinning as he pulled out his Dino DNA from his pocket, "It's Dino Time!"
"Raptorex!"
"Pterodactyl!"
"Triceratops!"
"Vulcanodon!"
"Tyrannosaurus!"
The new defenders jumped over branches and roots and back onto the path. They ran straight forward using Dino speed hoping to literally collide with Harvey and take him down straight away. However, that was easier said than done as Harvey was nowhere to be spotted. Seriously, this guy could run fast when he wanted to but that wasn't going to stop the Dino Time defenders.
As if by magic, Harvey appeared up ahead running as fast as he could, glancing down every crack and opening that he passed on the way. Kyle sped up. He was getting closer and closer; he was inches away then jumped onto Harvey's back. In retaliation, Harvey gave a yelp of surprise and tried to shake Kyle off all while Amy and Zoey had jumped onto the ground and had both of their arms wrapped around his legs causing him to slow down immediately and waddle away. Josh and Drake saw this as the perfect opportunity to grab his arms to stop him from playing anymore tricks. Unfortunately, it was too late as a fastening of a beeping noise indicated that they were going to teleport any time now.

Kyle slowly wobbled up onto his feet. They were definitely not in the forest anymore and their defender suits had powered down so they were back in civilian clothes. This was not a good. The only certain piece of information that he could cling onto for reassurance was the fact that the ground looked familiar. The second observation that Kyle made was that Harvey wasn't anywhere to be seen, which posed the question, how long had they been unconscious for?
Kyle spun around concerned as he heard the awfully familiar groan of his team mates trying to stand up. He rushed over to Amy, who in return, grabbed his offering hand tighter than Kyle would have personally liked her too and pulled her up onto her feet. She steadied herself by placing her left hand on her shoulder for a few seconds before cautiously taking it off and discovering that she was stable and balanced. The pair then ran to help their other team mates by pulling them slowly up and allowing themselves to be used as a steady surface.
"I knew he would have an evil lair." Drake said through his teeth, for some reason he was in pain and the concept of not knowing why he was in pain didn't agree with him, "They always do."
"I think my shoulders dislocated." Zoey muttered so quietly that the others only just about heard her. She then touched her shoulder slightly. It took every each of her body to stop her from screaming in pain. The pink defender was slightly confused to why no one was rushing over to her and making sure she was alright. A few seconds later she got her answer when she was knocked over and collided with the floor once more. Zoey turned around and saw a robosaur looming above her. She kicked out her right leg while clutching her shoulder with her left hand and sent the robosaur backwards into the nearby wall. Scrambling to her feet, she then tried to kick the other robosaurs that surrounded her away but it was no use. Her legs were not strong enough to fight them off.
Zoey glanced around and saw Drake also failing to fight the robosaurs off. She noticed that he was hoping on his right leg and he winced when his right foot came onto the ground. By the looks of that one second observation, Drake had sprained his ankle and had to punch his way out of the robosaurs that were circling him so she ran over and used her left leg to kick one into the nearest wall and then ran through the small gap that had emerged to join Drake. Together, the pair kicked and punched the robosaurs away, Zoey starting with the kick and Drake finished with the punch.
Josh was sure nothing was sprained or dislocated but his body ached all over so much that it was a new sensation, he had felt nothing like this before and he played football. The green defender guess that Harvey had beaten them up while they were unconscious, that or Harvey had taken them through a rough teleportation route and the robosaurs that had literally just jumped out at them didn't help either. They were kicking him in the stomach quicker than he could do the action to them. No matter how many punched or weak kicks Josh gave, the robosaurs would stay solid. It wasn't until someone pulled two of the robosaurs away and threw them against the wall that Josh felt relieved and that he could fight them off. Amy had joined him in his fight but had brought her robosaurs with her. Together the pair were synchronised in their movements. They would kick the same robosaur then punch it twice before kicking a fail time and watching happily as it smashed against the wall before moving onto the next one.
"Guys, this isn't working!" Drake shouted above the noise of the robosaurs, "It's Dino Time!"
"Pterodactyl!"
"Triceratops!"
"Vulcanodon!"
"Tyrannosaurus!"
Kyle felt guilty. Not only had he just abandoned his team mates, he had left them to fight a whole bunch of robosaurs in order to find Harvey. Also they were injured! But to be fair, so was he. The yellow defenders left leg hurt so badly that he could barely limp down the corridor and he was sure that his right wrist was sprained which made life more difficult as he could only balance himself against a wall using his left hand.
It suddenly clicked to where he was! It was Astrid's palace! However, it wasn't reassuring as why would Harvey come here? Also, wasn't this place running out of oxygen the last time he and his former team mates were here? Kyle shoved all of the questions to the back of his mind and continued down the corridor. As he got nearer the end, he could see that one of the doors was shut and a light was flickering on and off in it.
Kyle swung the door open and found Harvey grinning whilst sitting in the chair like a bond villain only without the white, fluffy cat. Not taking any chances, the yellow defender rushed over there and tried to punch Harvey. However, it seemed that Harvey was also skilled at martial arts and blocked Kyle straight away. Knowing that he would need extra power to help, Kyle found his dino DNA
"It's dino time!"
"Raptorex!"
The outfit seemed to give Kyle the energy he needed and when he kicked Harvey, the former mentor fell back slightly and against the wall. He then continued to punch and kick Harvey to a pulp like he had done to them. Finally, remembering his last solo accounter with Harvey, Kyle grabbed his wrists and pulled him up onto his feet and using his newly gained ice powers, he began to freeze Harvey's wrist again using all of the anger that had built up inside. He was fed up of people like Harvey rooming free, at least if he was frozen, James would think of something to do with him.
Harvey could feel his wrists freezing but had just about enough time to activate the teleportation device using the power of his elbows. Yes, it was running away but those who run away live to fight another day, "I'll be back Kyle and when I am you'll and all of your friends will be sorry!"
The electric blue light blinded Kyle for a second. He stood there, inches away from the wall breathing heavily before screaming, "Coward!"
The panting of heavy footsteps filled his ears. He knew that his team mates were behind him and were probably back into civilian clothes. Powering down to do the same, he turned around and walked towards his teams. Drake and Josh placed their arms round his shoulders with Amy and Zoey on the outside, they linked arms with the boys and Kyle teleported them all back down to the castle.

Around three hours later, all the defenders were wrapped up and seen to about their injuries. Zoey had a sling around her dislocated shoulder while Drake was limping around on his sprained ankle, he claimed that it wasn't that painful and all he needed was some support. Kyle had his wrist wrapped in support bandages and he wasn't allowed to lift anything heavy for a few weeks.
"Do you think Harvey will be back?" Amy asked everyone down in the control room.
"Probably." Kyle replied, "He may be a bit thick but he's stubborn. He'll be back and probably with a new alliance with Ivar, if he will forgive him for running away. At least we still have the dino time powers, last time I was on that space palace; I watched the overdrive powers literally turn into pieces."
"I thought you said that the palace almost ran out of oxygen?" Josh enquired.
"I did, someone obviously fixed the system." Kyle responded.
"Yeah but who?" Zoey asked, "I thought Astrid was the only one who lived there and she…"
"Died?" Drake finished off, "Maybe Astrid had friends?"
"If that's that case then we better be careful." James said joining the conversation, "Harvey we could most likely deal with but anyone else, that may be pushing the limit, who knows how long these powers will last."
"Your right, Astrid designed these powers as well." Kyle informed his team mates, he was about to continue when the doorbell went. James got up off the stall and went to answer it leaving the defenders to continue talking, "Last thing we need is a new enemy and one us turning evil."
The new defenders nodded in agreement, especially Zoey and Josh, they didn't want to be evil again and although it wasn't said, the likely hood was that they would be first to turn evil. Kyle got up of the stall and climbed back upstairs, wanting to know who the visitor would be as James hadn't returned. As he got closer to the castle door, his eyes widen in shock, he recognised those two voices anywhere. Kyle could barely register the fact that he had start running into the hall way.
He somehow managed to stop in the doorway and look at the pair of visitors, his mouth grinning like the cat from Alice in Wonderland. The visitors looked up at Kyle and smiled back.
"There's our baby bear!"
"Mum! Dad!" Kyle said running into a hug with his parents, "What are you two doing here?"
"Well, we persuaded the other defenders that we should come back for a little bit especially since the Jr defenders left to go to boarding school. We didn't want you to be lonely." Faetal explained.
"And we knew how much you were missing us." Vane added then whispered into Kyle's ear, "Also your mum's been worried sick about you since the earthquake and wouldn't shut up."
Kyle smirked then turned back around to the doorway way as he heard footsteps approaching. His four friends were looking confused so Kyle freed himself from Faetal and walked over to them, "Guys, these are my parents. Mum, dad, these are Amy, Josh, Drake and Zoey, my new friends."
"Friends?" Faetal's eyes shimmered and sparkled at the word, her son was not known for having friends, "How nice to meet you."
Vane and Faetal rushed over to them and introduced themselves properly. For the next half an hour Kyle cringed and groaned as they told childhood stories about him to his new friends. He buried his face in his hands as yet another round of laughter filled the living room even James was listening and socialising with them and he never did that but however cringey and embarrassing it was Kyle wouldn't have swapped this scene for anything because he finally remembered what happiness felt like but if only had had spotted the tall man dressed in a black coat and jeans looking up at the castle and smiling in delight before disappearing back into the forest, then the next chapter in his life would never had happened.
